Jim Bakker Show - Why Are The Dead Sea Scrolls Important | The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2021-12-31 Duration: 02:33 === Dead Sea Scrolls Insights (02:18) === [00:00:00] And what you're telling us is the word is rooted like in the Dead Sea Scrolls. [00:00:09] Goes way back. [00:00:10] Oh, yeah. [00:00:11] Yeah, it goes way back. [00:00:12] And so the Dead Sea Scrolls help fill in those blanks from the Bible. [00:00:16] You know, we might have questions. [00:00:17] The Bible doesn't tell us everything. [00:00:19] If it did, it would be a book so large nobody would have time to read it in a lifetime. [00:00:22] You know, we have a hard enough time just reading the Bibles that we have as it is. [00:00:26] So any extra stuff would make that a little bit more difficult. [00:00:29] But the Dead Sea Scrolls, for people who are interested in it, it doesn't change anything to the Bible. [00:00:34] It doesn't give you any kind of secret esoteric knowledge about salvation or anything like that. [00:00:40] It just adds context to what the Bible's already saying, and it helps us understand and interpret it a little better. [00:00:47] Now, we talked about Esther not being the book of Esther. [00:00:54] In the caves, were found all the Old Testament. [00:00:57] Is that right? [00:00:58] Yeah, except for Esther. [00:00:59] Except for Esther, correct? [00:01:01] Probably a male chauvinist or something. [00:01:04] Didn't think women should talk in church. [00:01:08] Well, I don't know. [00:01:09] Do you have any other thought on that? [00:01:11] Well, yeah, actually, they had the entire Old Testament. [00:01:14] There are things that talk about the Persian period, just not the Book of Esther. [00:01:19] And most of the scrolls are fragmented. [00:01:21] So we're lucky to have pieces of some of them. [00:01:24] So it's just missing in the collection, that's all. [00:01:27] And there's actually scrolls that talk about the fact that the canon is classified. [00:01:30] I wish we had some pictures of the scrolls. [00:01:33] The pieces. [00:01:35] They've pieced things together. [00:01:37] They're digging down and finding the miracle is that all of this, all the basically Old Testament is there, which I don't know, but I'm concerned about people believing the word. [00:01:53] Do you believe the word totally? [00:01:55] Oh, absolutely. [00:01:56] Old and New Testament. [00:01:58] Amen. [00:01:59] So, Ken, what do the Dead Sea Scrolls say about the Messiah? === Age of Grace Begins (00:30) === [00:02:05] Very interesting. [00:02:06] As a Christian, you're going to understand and interpret the Old Testament from the New Testament. [00:02:11] They interpret it from the patriarchal writings that basically say the same thing. [00:02:16] The Messiah is God incarnate. [00:02:18] He comes to earth for the purpose of dying for our sins, not fixing a war. [00:02:23] And they even give the date on when the Messiah is supposed to come. [00:02:26] After he does this, the following Pentecost begins what's called the age of grace, and major changes happen.
