Jim Bakker Show - Basic Bible Doctrine - Bob Yandian on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2021-12-17 Duration: 06:50 === Basic Bible Doctrine (06:37) === [00:00:00] Bob, why is it important for believers to have an understanding of basic Bible doctrine? [00:00:07] This is what I'm talking about: redemption. [00:00:10] That's basic Bible doctrine right there. [00:00:12] That's right. [00:00:13] Well, the Bible says that my people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge. [00:00:17] And we have so much lack of knowledge today that Christians don't even know the elementary things. [00:00:22] They got saved and thought that's it. [00:00:24] And the purpose of being saved is to grow up and become a disciple and lead others to Jesus. [00:00:30] If all God's purpose was is just leaving us here or not leaving us here just to save us, then we'd get taken out of here immediately. [00:00:37] But he left us here. [00:00:38] I heard this said one time that a convert is one that gets to go to heaven, but a disciple is one that takes people with him. [00:00:45] And that's why God has left us here. [00:00:47] But you have to have some understanding, and the best place to get it is under a pastor who studies this because he has a gift for it. [00:00:55] Everyone of us can understand the word of God, but not like it's explained by somebody called, anointed by the Holy Spirit, to open it up. [00:01:01] And you go, I never saw that before. [00:01:03] It's right in front of my eyes, but I never saw it before. [00:01:06] So that's why we need to change it. [00:01:07] We need the church. [00:01:08] We need good gospel preaching. [00:01:12] And you have about seven, eight points of theology there. [00:01:19] You start with predestination. [00:01:22] Uh-huh. [00:01:24] Could you give me the headlines of each one? [00:01:26] Yeah. [00:01:26] Okay. [00:01:27] Well, the headlines on each one is you just stole my book. [00:01:29] So I got to look at it. [00:01:31] He does that often. [00:01:32] He does that too. [00:01:33] He does. [00:01:34] Yes. [00:01:34] I'm constantly watching. [00:01:35] Predestination. [00:01:37] There's reconciliation, sanctification, glorification, justification. [00:01:44] Sanctification. [00:01:45] Yes. [00:01:45] I won't go to all these because I don't want to just go ahead and get the book. [00:01:48] Anyway, but haven't we heard about sanctification? [00:01:51] Oh, yes. [00:01:52] Any Pentecostals here? [00:01:54] Yeah. [00:01:55] Sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost. [00:01:57] Sanctified, Satan, filled with the Holy Ghost. [00:02:01] I think a lot of them still don't even know what sanctification means. [00:02:03] Sanctification is really the changing of your lifestyle to where now you become righteous and act like it. [00:02:11] It's more than just being righteous, it's where people can see it. [00:02:14] And there's three different types of sanctification. [00:02:17] The first one is before God. [00:02:19] And the next one is walking in sanctification. [00:02:22] Some people say, well, I don't need to live it. [00:02:23] I've got it. [00:02:24] Well, yes, but if you've got it, the world needs to see it. [00:02:26] Right. [00:02:27] And so, but the third type of sanctification is when you actually get a resurrection body and get to go with be with Jesus. [00:02:34] Now, then you talked about glorification. [00:02:35] Uh-huh. [00:02:37] Justification. [00:02:38] Uh-huh. [00:02:39] Redemption. [00:02:40] What else? [00:02:41] Well, my favorite, honestly, is propitiation. [00:02:44] These are names that usually, when you mention them to Christians, their eyes roll back in. [00:02:48] Exactly. [00:02:48] And they just go off over. [00:02:50] Right. [00:02:50] So, what does that mean? [00:02:51] Propitiation is the word for satisfaction. [00:02:54] The Rolling Stones saying about I can't get no propitiation. [00:02:57] That's right. [00:02:58] The word simply meant is that, in fact, the word propitiation means mercy seat. [00:03:03] Mercy seat is the correct translation. [00:03:05] And mercy seat was the last place the blood was. [00:03:08] Wow. [00:03:08] It was shed. [00:03:09] It was put into bowls. [00:03:10] And then the last thing was it was sprinkled on the mercy seat. [00:03:13] And the mercy seat is where God looked at it and was satisfied. [00:03:17] In the Old Testament, he was not really totally satisfied. [00:03:20] He was momentarily appeased. [00:03:23] And he had to wait for the next one. [00:03:25] And the next one, when Jesus went to the cross and God saw the blood of Jesus, he said, no more sacrifices. [00:03:30] This is what I've been waiting for. [00:03:32] Every sacrifice kept pointing to the one. [00:03:34] And when Jesus died, God was eternally propitiated, eternally satisfied. [00:03:39] When I grew up in Pentecost, we used to sing a song, I am satisfied, I am satisfied. [00:03:44] Satisfied to know that my Savior loves me so. [00:03:47] Well, you may be satisfied, but tomorrow you may not. [00:03:50] The best thing is not whether you're satisfied. [00:03:52] The best thing is God was satisfied with the work of Jesus on the cross. [00:03:56] The last one is election. [00:03:58] Election. [00:03:59] Well, that goes right with back here with predestination. [00:04:03] The first one, the last one go together. [00:04:05] And the reason why is they've been so distorted today. [00:04:09] And when people talk about predestination, they usually say, well, that just means God chose you to get saved, and he may not choose you to get saved. [00:04:18] And that's the full extent of where this thing has gone to. [00:04:20] It's actually an over-dramatization of the sovereignty of God. [00:04:24] And there are some places where God is sovereign, but the Bible usually tells us he is. [00:04:28] But in this case, predestination, both predestination and election have a key word attached to it. [00:04:34] It's like this. [00:04:35] We often say, well, I'm going to study predestination. [00:04:38] No, predestination is a brick built on a foundation. [00:04:41] And the foundation is foreknowledge. [00:04:43] Whom the Lord did foreknow. [00:04:46] Them he did predestine. [00:04:47] Why did God predestinate me to get saved? [00:04:50] Because he knew I would. [00:04:51] He saw me at five years old in vacation Bible school, kneeling at the altar, and the pastor's wife leading me to Jesus. [00:04:58] You think that took God by surprise? [00:05:00] You think he turned to Jesus and said, We weren't planning on this. [00:05:03] No, he knew exactly what was going to happen, but when did he have a plan for my life? [00:05:08] Before the foundation of the world. [00:05:09] Yes, amen. [00:05:10] Because he saw me all the way down there do that. [00:05:12] Let's take it to the other extent, like with prophecy. [00:05:16] Is there an Antichrist? [00:05:17] Yes. [00:05:19] Well, I don't know if he's alive right now or not, but you know, people, he's in the Bible. [00:05:22] Well, the point of it is God wrote about him thousands of years ago. [00:05:27] Did that mean that God created Antichrist? [00:05:29] No, Satan did. [00:05:30] But God knows what Satan's going to do. [00:05:32] He knows what his plans are, and he makes plans around it before the problem ever exists. [00:05:37] Amen. [00:05:38] You can't walk into a problem today that God didn't know before the foundation of the world and have a plan out of it. [00:05:44] Amen. [00:05:45] But the point of it was predestination is whom the Lord did foreknow, them he did predestinate. [00:05:51] So he knew I would get saved. [00:05:53] But he also said in John 6, he knew who would save him or who would get saved and who wouldn't. [00:05:57] He knows that ahead of time. [00:05:59] But God didn't make you get saved. [00:06:01] He knew you would accept him. [00:06:03] So it comes back to this. [00:06:04] I like to think of it this way. [00:06:05] I ask women in congregations, how do you have a serving heart? [00:06:10] You love to have meals at your house to invite people over. [00:06:14] And a lot of women raised their hand. [00:06:15] I said, how do you know how he's going to come? [00:06:18] They said, well, I said, you send out invitations, but how do you know they're going to accept the invitation? === Exact Number Seats (00:28) === [00:06:22] Four little letters at the bottom, RSVP. [00:06:26] And that means, will you come or will you not? [00:06:28] And if they say, I'm coming, we have a place for you at the table. [00:06:32] If you don't say you're coming, you're falling back on your own plans. [00:06:35] You're not going to take up my plans. [00:06:37] I'm here to let you know that Jesus will have the exact number of seats at the table at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. [00:06:46] And when He does, it's because He knew ahead of time. [00:06:49] He doesn't need an RSVP.
