Jim Bakker Show - What is Gaza's Significance - Rabbi Jonathan Cahn Aired: 2021-06-02 Duration: 03:43 === Giants in the Land (03:06) === [00:00:00] Wow. [00:00:00] The fighting is focusing on Gaza. [00:00:03] Is there any significance to that? [00:00:06] Yes. [00:00:06] Yeah. [00:00:07] A lot of people may not realize, believers, that Gaza, you know, here at the Gaza Strip, Gaza, Gaza is in the Bible. [00:00:14] And Gaza is in the Bible. [00:00:15] About, you have about 19 references in the Bible to Gaza. [00:00:19] And Gaza was always interesting, always a place of conflict. [00:00:24] Actually, you know, at the beginning, it says when the spies went up to Israel and they said, the 12 spies, and they said, there are giants in the land. [00:00:31] They called them the Anakim in Hebrew. [00:00:34] Well, it says later on that the Anakim were driven out of the land, but except one, pretty much one place, Gaza. [00:00:41] So here, the giants in the land ended up going to Gaza. [00:00:46] So it was always a place which represented the obstacle to God's purposes in the land. [00:00:51] Now, when you read the story of Samson, you know, Samson, a whole part of it takes place in Gaza. [00:00:58] When they blind him, when they take out, the Philistines take out his eyes, they end up taking him to Gaza. [00:01:06] So when you hear that story of Samson, we've always read about, heard about from the time we were kids. [00:01:11] It's taking place, the finale takes place in Gaza, same place that's in the news. [00:01:17] They take him to the temple of Dagon, the destruction comes, the temple falls down. [00:01:22] Interesting, you know, because we're seeing buildings falling down in Gaza. [00:01:26] Well, that goes back to Samson, you know, with that. [00:01:28] Now, so Gaza, and it's good, you had a map there. [00:01:31] Gaza is located on the coast. [00:01:35] It's by the Mediterranean Sea. [00:01:37] It has been a problem for Israel from ancient times. [00:01:42] It was pretty much the headquarters of the Philistines. [00:01:46] Now, something to note, you know, when the Romans came in in 70 AD and they destroyed Israel, they sent the Jews around the world. [00:01:55] They said, you know, let's do something. [00:01:56] Let's rename the land so that everybody will forget that it really, it's the land of the Jewish people. [00:02:03] So let's cut that connection. [00:02:05] So they said, let's come up with a name. [00:02:07] So the name they came up with was the name Pilestia or actually, I'm sorry, Palestina, which comes from, it means the land of the Philistines. [00:02:19] They got that from in the Bible. [00:02:21] That area was called Pilestim or the land of the, that's how you say Philistine. [00:02:26] So they came up with Palestina. [00:02:28] That's where we get the word Palestine. [00:02:30] So whenever you hear the word Palestine, that's named after the Philistines, the enemies of Israel on purpose. [00:02:37] And so there's one Palestinian state in Israel, which is Gaza. [00:02:42] And so Gaza, I mean, it's amazing because Gaza was the center of the Philistines. [00:02:47] And so now we're saying, hey, we're Palestine, which is named after, it means basically saying we're Philistines, and it was the chief city of that. === I Will Send Fire (00:52) === [00:02:56] So the Gaza Strip goes back to the Bible. [00:02:59] Now, in Jeremiah, God gives a word and he says that judgment is coming on Gaza. [00:03:06] In the book of Amos, it says, thus says the Lord, because of the sins of Gaza, I will send punishment. [00:03:14] In Zephaniah, it says, Gaza will be forsaken. [00:03:18] And another place in Amos, it says, I will send fire on Gaza. [00:03:22] I will send fire on the walls of Gaza. [00:03:25] The palaces of Gaza will be destroyed. [00:03:28] Now, I'm not saying that that prophecy is specifically saying what's happening now, but the word of God is very big and very, very all-encompassing. [00:03:36] And so now we're again seeing what the prophet spoke of. [00:03:39] The prophet spoke of Gaza judgment or fire and destruction.
