Jim Bakker Show - What Is Repentance From Dead Works - Rick Renner Aired: 2021-05-24 Duration: 03:08 === Need for Discernment (02:20) === [00:00:00] We need this foundation. [00:00:04] Yes. [00:00:05] So we can't be shaken. [00:00:07] Amen. [00:00:07] Amen. [00:00:08] And so could I ask you, I don't know if it's a hard question or not, but what is repentance from dead works? [00:00:18] What does that mean in the Bible? [00:00:19] Can you tell me what that means? [00:00:22] Well, a dead work would be trusting in anything except Christ. [00:00:26] It's just dead. [00:00:27] It's just dead. [00:00:28] Yeah, I want to say a word about Hebrews chapter 5, because in Hebrews chapter 5, it says that when you're established in these foundational things, it gives you discernment. [00:00:39] Well, we're living in a day when people really need discernment. [00:00:43] And Brother Jim, you're talking about all the craziness on TV and the craziness in society. [00:00:49] And I hate to harp on these issues, but we are just surrounded these days by nonsensical thinking. [00:00:56] Fantasy. [00:00:58] And the Holy Spirit prophesied that would happen at the end of the age. [00:01:01] He said there would be an invasion of seducing spirits and doctrines of demons. [00:01:06] And people today are just being bombasted with nonsense. [00:01:10] And they're being told that it is the new truth. [00:01:14] And a lot of young people who are not taught in the Bible, they don't have discernment. [00:01:19] So they're listening to a lot of this nonsense that they're hearing from Hollywood and the courts and education and everywhere else about their gender and new morals and a new way of thinking. [00:01:30] And they don't have what they need to discern whether this is nonsense or whether it is truth. [00:01:38] And the reason they don't have the ability to discern is because they don't know the Bible. [00:01:44] I don't have to question whether things are right or wrong. [00:01:47] You know why? [00:01:48] Not because I'm so smart, but because I've been exercised by the Word of God. [00:01:54] And the Word of God gives you common sense. [00:01:58] The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. [00:02:04] And when you have a fear of the Lord and you have a handle on these real basic foundational truths, it gives you the ability to immediately and quickly say, that's not right. === The Word Provides Clarity (01:02) === [00:02:17] Nope. [00:02:18] I don't care what they say. [00:02:20] That's not right. [00:02:21] You don't have to be brilliant to know. [00:02:23] But if the word of God is in you, it gives you discernment. [00:02:26] Isn't that right, Denise? [00:02:28] Absolutely. [00:02:29] It is our stability. [00:02:31] The word of God is our stability. [00:02:33] You know, everything else is shifting and shifting and shifting. [00:02:37] But you go to this word. [00:02:39] Sometimes I read the word and I say to Rick, Rick, this is so clean. [00:02:44] This is so pure. [00:02:46] And it just ministers to you because when you read the word of God, it tells you who you are. [00:02:54] It tells you who you're not. [00:02:57] And it's just given us a path, a clear path that we don't have to be moved from by every kind of wind and every kind of storm,
