[00:00:00]  My first question is, what are the six foundations?
[00:00:03]  We started this a little bit last time you're with us before lightning struck, but what are the six foundational truths that every Christian must know?
[00:00:13]  Could we start there?
[00:00:15]  That'd be great.
[00:00:16]  You know, I want to say when you watch the kind of role that you just showed on television, people are being shaken in their faith.
[00:00:23]  People are just being shaken.
[00:00:25]  In fact, I got a phone call from somebody yesterday who said, what are we supposed to do?
[00:00:30]  We're just so shaken by everything that's going on.
[00:00:34]  And this is why it is so very important that people know what they believe and they really be founded on a very strong foundation.
[00:00:43]  Because when your foundation is strong, you are not shakable.
[00:00:48]  And when you come to Hebrews chapter 6, the writer of Hebrews lists six things that every Christian needs to know.
[00:00:56]  And in fact, he says you can't really go on to other things until first you have these things in place.
[00:01:03]  And the first is repentance from dead works.
[00:01:07]  Brother Jim and Laurie, this is so important that if you do not understand repentance, you're not even saved.
[00:01:13]  Secondly, it mentions faith toward God.
[00:01:17]  What in the world does that mean?
[00:01:19]  Well, it's very important for us to all know what it means.
[00:01:22]  Then number three, it says the doctrine of baptisms.
[00:01:26]  And isn't that interesting?
[00:01:27]  It's plural, which means there's more than one baptism.
[00:01:30]  Then it mentions the doctrine of the laying on of hands.
[00:01:34]  That's amazing to me that the laying on of hands would be right in the middle of all these heavy-duty doctrines.
[00:01:40]  Then it mentions the doctrine of resurrection of the dead.
[00:01:43]  And finally, the doctrine of eternal judgment.
[00:01:46]  These are the absolute foundations of our faith.
[00:01:50]  And unfortunately, because today there's not a lot of verse-by-verse teaching in the church, people are not being established in these basics.
[00:02:00]  And you know, I thank God for inspirational preaching and motivational preaching.
[00:02:04]  There's a place for all of that.
[00:02:05]  But unfortunately, it has totally usurped the place of verse-by-verse teaching of the Bible.
[00:02:12]  But the Bible says these are six foundational truths that your life has to be built upon.
[00:02:20]  For example, repentance from dead works.
