Jim Bakker Show - The Constitutional Crisis - Gordon Pennington Aired: 2020-05-25 Duration: 02:44 === Met Militia Members (02:44) === [00:00:00] Saying that you have a constitutional crisis, then, Gordon, do you think that this could spark like a civil war of type or anything like that? [00:00:10] Well, that's an interesting question. [00:00:12] I think what happens very often is the more militant people, you have a Michigan has several kinds of militias and so on. [00:00:20] And these are people that feel very strongly about their Second Amendment rights, the right to bear arms and to open carry. [00:00:28] and as the governor said, brandishing arms and ammunition. [00:00:31] And they do. [00:00:32] I've seen this. [00:00:32] I've witnessed this. [00:00:33] This has been going on for years. [00:00:36] And on occasion, they'll show up. [00:00:37] But I have also noticed that in contra distinction to the photograph that was published, I think, a week ago, Thursday, where there was a gathering at the state capitol of Michigan. [00:00:51] And people gathered there were exercising their First Amendment rights to free speech and free assembly and their Second Amendment right to bear arms. [00:01:00] I did not see any of them agitate law enforcement officers or other people. [00:01:05] They were actually very respectful. [00:01:06] They were angry, they were frustrated, but I didn't see any of them agitate or incite violence ever at all. [00:01:13] And the photograph that was widely published around the world, actually, I saw it in the BBC news, was of a man who was apparently shouting or really screaming. [00:01:24] It looked angry, but he wasn't spitting in the face between the two state police officers. [00:01:29] If you look closely and you look at the perspective, this is something that journalists do frequently because you can shift the perceptions by shifting the perspective of an image. [00:01:42] And it was made to look like he was disrespecting the law enforcement. [00:01:46] So I talked to some of those law enforcement officers. [00:01:48] I know some of them. [00:01:49] And they did not feel this. [00:01:51] They felt there was a lot of anger, but none of them that I have spoken with felt that they were in jeopardy or they were being threatened. [00:01:59] So a lot of this is symbolic. [00:02:00] And I think the news media generally plays on this. [00:02:03] By the way, that was the militia types were probably 1 or 2% of the people present there. [00:02:09] And I met people, I went to this rally to see for myself what was going on. [00:02:14] And I met people who were graduate students, PhDs. [00:02:17] I met professors. [00:02:19] I met people of all, I met first frontline providers of health care services from Detroit. [00:02:24] I met African Americans. [00:02:26] I met minorities of all stripes. [00:02:28] Of course, they were ignored by the mainstream media because it didn't comport with the narrative they wanted to present to the public. [00:02:35] But these people were frustrated. [00:02:36] By the way, it was bipartisan. [00:02:38] I met people from a variety of different political persuasions and virtually no political persuasion and all different ages.
