Jim Bakker Show - The Phases of the Church's Response - Dr. Jim Garlow Aired: 2020-05-11 Duration: 03:20 === Government Trust Shift (03:04) === [00:00:00] What have you have you analyzed this and talked to the leaders in Washington? [00:00:05] Well, I haven't talked to a lot of leaders in Washington on this. [00:00:07] Here's my sensing nationally, though, in terms of a national mood, and that is I see we've been through three phases, is my estimation. [00:00:16] The early phase was one of kind of denial and shaking our heads and saying, what? [00:00:21] And that all changed on about March 13, 14, 15, that weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. [00:00:27] I saw a complete change atmospherically, so to speak, in my country, where people said, oh, this is for real. [00:00:36] And they hunkered down and they followed the mandates. [00:00:40] They started trying to get masks. [00:00:42] They made sure they washed their hands over and over and they stayed at home six foot distances. [00:00:47] And so Americans really tried to comply overwhelmingly. [00:00:51] And that continued for five weeks. [00:00:53] But another shift took place just a few days ago. [00:00:57] That was April the 17th, 18th, and 19th. [00:00:59] I sense a shift, a paradigm shift in the country. [00:01:03] That was another weekend, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, where all of a sudden people were saying, wait a minute, enough is enough. [00:01:10] They'd gone five weeks. [00:01:12] You know, it's interesting. [00:01:13] 40 days is mentioned a lot in the Bible. [00:01:15] It's kind of like we were down at day 40. [00:01:18] And it's kind of like that's as much as Americans can go. [00:01:21] And they also realize, and this is where it gets serious, if there's a lack of trust in our government, we have a pretty critical problem happening in our governors and our mayors and such. [00:01:31] And so there were some overstatements made that so many millions are going to get it and one or two million are going to die. [00:01:39] And then they factored it down to, well, okay, 240,000 Thompson, and then 60,000. [00:01:45] And Americans begin to distrust their government on this. [00:01:49] And they also did not want one size fits all. [00:01:53] They wanted to be able to adapt to their environment and bring government down more localized, which I totally support. [00:01:59] Always localize the authority anytime you can, because localized authority can do better than somebody generically, you know, a thousand miles away. [00:02:09] And so we do have a, it changed, it changed as of that weekend of April 17, 18, 19. [00:02:16] I saw the mood change and people saying, no, we're not going to stay at home. [00:02:21] Now, the protesters, by and large, they had a legitimate claim because they were objecting to the overstatements. [00:02:29] However, if protesters want to have credibility with their government leaders, they ought to be wise enough to have masks and gloves and protective gear. [00:02:38] And they ought to at least stay six feet apart. [00:02:41] They shouldn't just flaunt it. [00:02:43] Some of those, when they do that, they're going to end up getting the virus themselves and perhaps some would even die. [00:02:48] So they need to be wise in their protest and have credibility before government leaders to say, look, we can go back to work and observe the rules. === Vastly Reduce Infections (00:30) === [00:02:58] Allow us to open certain things and we'll observe the social distancing rules. [00:03:03] We'll try to be prudent. [00:03:04] It won't totally stop the coronavirus, but it'll vastly reduce the number of people infected. [00:03:10] So the protesters need to exercise a level of respect and responsibility for them to have credibility. [00:03:16] But I'm generally supportive with some of their claims, objections.
