Jim Bakker Show - What Happened To Our Christian Principles - Dr David Barton on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2019-07-12 Duration: 02:44 === American Christian's Role (02:44) === [00:00:00] Why aren't we fighting for this in the church? [00:00:03] Why aren't we standing for the principles anymore? [00:00:06] I can tell you a lot about the American church because we do tons of national polling on it. [00:00:09] Work closely with George Barn and others. [00:00:12] The American church is a very sick condition. [00:00:14] However, I don't really care about the American church. [00:00:17] I care about the American Christian. [00:00:19] And the American Christian can solve the American church problem. [00:00:23] But right now, only 14% of Christians read the Bible on a daily basis. [00:00:28] Right now, you have only 10% of American Christians that have a biblical worldview. [00:00:34] Only 4% of millennials that have a biblical worldview. [00:00:37] So we don't even know enough about the Bible to know what it teaches to think biblically, to be able to behave biblically. [00:00:44] And if the church doesn't, the pastors sure aren't going to. [00:00:47] And so at this point, the church itself is not doing a good job in any cultural perspective. [00:00:54] We have good pastors out there, no question about it. [00:00:56] But the institution of the church nationally is the weakest it has been in polling history. [00:01:03] In 2006, 47% of Americans were born-again Christians. [00:01:08] Last year, it was down to 31%. [00:01:11] So we have dropped 16% born-again Christians in a little over a decade, and there's nothing happening. [00:01:18] There's nothing that people want from the church right now. [00:01:21] Church attendance is dropping. [00:01:23] Two out of three people who leave church say they leave church because they get nothing relevant there. [00:01:28] There's nothing that they can apply to their lives. [00:01:30] And so instead of the church offering solutions, they're offering platitudes. [00:01:35] And, you know, here's why I really don't care where the church is, because let me take just global evangelism. [00:01:41] We have put 2,000 years into evangelizing the world as Christians, and we are the largest religion in the world. [00:01:47] 32% of the world is Christian today, which is terrific. [00:01:51] And we have pastors, and we have missionaries, and we have evangelists. [00:01:54] We've got all these professionals doing it. [00:01:55] That's the problem. [00:01:56] We've got professionals doing it. [00:01:58] If every Christian person, every person that professed Christ, if they were to say, you know, over the next year, I'm going to win one other person to Christ. [00:02:06] 31. [00:02:07] Just one. [00:02:08] My only objective this year is to win one person to Christ. [00:02:11] At the end of one year, we would have gone from 32% to 64%. [00:02:15] At the end of two years, the entire world is Christian because Christian people did something for two years. [00:02:21] See, we keep looking to the church to do it. [00:02:24] We keep looking to professionals to do it. [00:02:25] No, no, no. [00:02:26] We've got a Bible. [00:02:27] We can read that Bible. [00:02:28] God's going to hold us accountable for what we know out of that Bible. [00:02:32] So the church is in bad condition. [00:02:34] There is no question. [00:02:35] But that doesn't matter to me because Christians need to be strong. [00:02:39] And right now, Christians aren't being strong. [00:02:41] And they need to know their own faith and know what they believe. [00:02:43] Yes. [00:02:44] Amen.
