Jim Bakker Show - You Are Not Worthless - Pastor Debbie Lindell on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2019-05-02 Duration: 02:58 === Interview Insights (02:26) === [00:00:00] In the opening of the book, you're talking about you and John and the story about an interview. [00:00:06] And you were told essentially that you had limited ability. [00:00:10] I hate to say this. [00:00:11] I didn't want to ask this question. [00:00:13] But you started your book with it. [00:00:15] That was good. [00:00:15] And that is so crazy. [00:00:18] I would say I was a strong personality, but I was really, really shy and insecure, even when we got married. [00:00:26] And it was about six months into our marriage that we had the interview. [00:00:31] We were asked by a pastor to consider going on staff, or John was. [00:00:38] And he said, but I'd like to interview you first. [00:00:40] And will you meet me at a particular restaurant for the interview? [00:00:43] And we're like, sure. [00:00:45] And so I was so petrified. [00:00:48] And I remember, I think I changed like 10 times. [00:00:51] Exactly where. [00:00:51] You know, Laura. [00:00:53] I know. [00:00:53] I know. [00:00:55] Because I wanted to do well for him. [00:00:58] Exactly. [00:00:59] So we sat for an hour. [00:01:02] And this is a man of God. [00:01:04] So when I tell the story, I want to honor him. [00:01:07] Yes. [00:01:07] But he had misconceptions. [00:01:09] And actually, he just viewed women in a way that wasn't as honoring as it should be. [00:01:16] But the interview, he never looked at me one time. [00:01:20] He directed all his questions toward John, which I was like, well, that's appropriate. [00:01:24] He's hiring him. [00:01:26] So he got done with the interview or came to a close. [00:01:29] And he said, well, John, he said, you have answered all these questions so masterfully. [00:01:35] He said, I am so impressed with you. [00:01:37] And I was like, yes, he's an amazing man. [00:01:41] You should hire him. [00:01:41] That's what I was thinking. [00:01:42] That's what you're thinking about. [00:01:43] And he said, on a scale of one to ten, he said, I would say you're a 10. [00:01:49] And he said, but I just need to be honest with you. [00:01:52] He said, I've got to tell you, he said, on a scale of one to 10, I'd rate your wife at a four. [00:01:58] And he never looked at me. [00:02:00] Oh, that's so crushing for a woman. [00:02:03] Here's what I thought. [00:02:04] Immediately, I was like, a hand on her leg. [00:02:07] Yeah. [00:02:08] On her knee. [00:02:10] I ran up on her leg. === The Lie That Lasts (00:46) === [00:02:11] I was like, oh, I was like, how does he know in just an hour? [00:02:16] How could he assess me so accurately? [00:02:18] That's what I was thinking. [00:02:20] Yeah. [00:02:20] Because I really viewed myself in a limited, honestly, unbiblical way. [00:02:27] I can't believe you put that in the book, especially as your husband. [00:02:29] Oh, I love it. [00:02:30] I love it. [00:02:31] I'm telling you, it could stay with you the rest of your life. [00:02:34] Well, it stayed with me a lot of years, you know, 15. [00:02:38] It's a lie, though. [00:02:40] But you know what? [00:02:41] The enemy uses all sorts of tools. [00:02:43] That's right. [00:02:44] And the lie is the same to every woman. [00:02:46] Actually, every man. [00:02:47] Every human being. [00:02:49] But here you are. [00:02:50] Here she is. [00:02:50] The woman was a four. [00:02:52] That's a put-down. [00:02:54] That is not good. [00:02:55] But she is rated a four.
