Jim Bakker Show - All Things Work Together For Good - Pastor John Lindell on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2019-04-30 Duration: 03:36 === Four Families Started (03:36) === [00:00:00] So you said the most powerful word in the world is what? [00:00:05] Grace. [00:00:07] Grace. [00:00:08] Oh, people. [00:00:10] God is going to do something for you today. [00:00:12] Yes. [00:00:12] This is going to be your special day. [00:00:15] And we're just so thrilled to have you here. [00:00:17] You live just down the road of peace, as they say, up here in the hills. [00:00:21] But you're from Springfield, Missouri. [00:00:22] We are. [00:00:23] And you've been pastoring there over 25 years, I think. [00:00:27] Almost 28 now. [00:00:28] 28. [00:00:30] 28 years, hard to believe. [00:00:31] Wow. [00:00:32] And so you've been pastoring there, and you were a young guy when you went there. [00:00:41] Now, what are you saying, Jim? [00:00:42] Yeah, I mean, you were really young. [00:00:44] How old were you when you went to Springfield? [00:00:46] 29. [00:00:47] And you'd already pastored. [00:00:48] We had pastored out in western Kansas, and then we pioneered a church in the Kansas City area, and it was a rough go. [00:00:54] And so we really moved here feeling like a failure, honestly. [00:00:59] Not you. [00:01:00] And I, well, yeah. [00:01:01] And Debbie, when we loaded up our U-Haul, we got in the truck, and before we took off from Kansas City, I said, we're going to go to Springfield and we're going to give it a go. [00:01:11] But if it doesn't work, I want to go back to law school. [00:01:13] Wow. [00:01:13] Because really, I'd lost sense of my calling, honestly. [00:01:17] And it felt like such a failure in believing God and trusting God. [00:01:23] And, you know, Kansas City was a tough go. [00:01:25] So we came to James River. [00:01:27] And that's one of the things, you know, sometimes people look at something on the outside and they think one way. [00:01:32] And then when they hear the inside story, they realize it's much different than that. [00:01:36] But we came here. [00:01:37] I told the leadership council because they'd been going for eight months. [00:01:41] Yes. [00:01:41] They had 82 people. [00:01:43] And I told them, I said, listen, I'm tired. [00:01:47] My wife's tired. [00:01:48] Please don't ask her to do anything for the next nine months. [00:01:51] But if you're needing somebody who has a vision for Springfield and can just excite people, I'm probably not your guy. [00:02:01] And, you know, they hired me. [00:02:02] I can't believe I don't know why they would do that. [00:02:06] I don't know why they would, you know. [00:02:08] So how old were you when you came? [00:02:09] 29. [00:02:10] And you had two babies? [00:02:12] We had three. [00:02:13] Oh, the boys. [00:02:13] Two, three, four. [00:02:14] The boy had already been born. [00:02:15] Yeah, two, three, and four. [00:02:16] And our youngest is a daughter, Savannah, and she was four. [00:02:20] So they were young. [00:02:21] Four, five, and six. [00:02:22] And you came, the church, James River, which everybody knows James River here. [00:02:27] You know that. [00:02:27] I mean, and you have. [00:02:31] We're the great church in Europe America. [00:02:36] You have several campuses, actually. [00:02:38] We do. [00:02:39] We have four campuses now. [00:02:40] We just opened one in Joplin, but we have three in Spain. [00:02:45] Wow. [00:02:46] So exciting. [00:02:48] I love it. [00:02:50] But it was in a store building or something. [00:02:53] It was. [00:02:53] It was in a storefront, and they were just renting space. [00:02:56] In fact, it started next door to a tattoo parlor. [00:03:01] Who started all of this, right? [00:03:02] This tattoo thing? [00:03:03] It was four families that started, yeah. [00:03:05] Oh, but I mean, this is the tattoo job. [00:03:08] But you know, but you are reaching the youth, and you didn't even use the tattoo parlor next door. [00:03:15] Yeah, the Lord just said to say, you know, sometimes, and I think you understand this because of all you've seen, there's times the Lord just breathes on something, and the result is something that defies human explanation, human quantification. [00:03:30] That's James River. [00:03:32] God breathed on that church and raised up a church in really a small community.
