Jim Bakker Show - Why I Could Not Stay Silent - David Harris Jr on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2019-04-17 Duration: 02:09 === Why I Couldn't Stay Silent (02:09) === [00:00:00] What caused you to say I can't stay silent any longer? [00:00:05] You were brought up in a Christian home? [00:00:07] I was brought up in a Christian home. [00:00:09] And for me, my mom always taught me to and told me to vote my values. [00:00:14] She said, look at what these candidates, don't look at what they're just saying, but look at how they're voting. [00:00:20] And the issue on life is really, to me, the biggest issue. [00:00:23] I mean, it's an issue that, as a Christian, how could we ever support a candidate that supports taking the life of an unborn baby? [00:00:30] Exactly. [00:00:31] It's just murder. [00:00:32] And it's something that there was no way that I could ever. [00:00:36] So I was a minority, so to speak, within the minority, right? [00:00:40] There's Hispanics are minorities, blacks are minorities. [00:00:42] Well, I'm a mixture of both. [00:00:44] And so I dealt with that growing up. [00:00:45] I lived in a predominantly white town, right in California. [00:00:48] I was raised there, born there, raised there. [00:00:50] My grandfather was the first African-American chaplain for that county in the 60s. [00:00:55] But there were the black folks that were like, well, you're not dark enough, or you don't fit in because I had mostly white friends, not because I chose it that way, but just because that's all that's in my class. [00:01:05] I just, I made friends with people that, you know, I messed with and that liked me and that we, you know, could do things together. [00:01:12] So, but for me, the issue of abortion was something that I could never agree with. [00:01:19] And so when I saw the third presidential debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, and I saw Hillary continue to support her abortion stance and Donald Trump just say, absolutely not, we need to support life, I just couldn't stay silent anymore. [00:01:36] I went on my Facebook page. [00:01:38] I only had a couple thousand friends. [00:01:40] I didn't have a Facebook following. [00:01:42] I just poured my heart out for 13, 14 minutes. [00:01:45] As an American, as a father, as a husband, as a black man in America, this is why I feel like we have to support Donald Trump. [00:01:52] And the messages just began to flood in on my inbox on Facebook from women, from men, from blacks, Asians, Hispanics that said, my whole life I've been a Democrat. [00:02:03] I've always voted Democrat. [00:02:04] My family are all Democrats. [00:02:06] But after hearing your message, there's no way I can support Hillary.
