Supreme Court Ruling on Abortion

|
|
| And we pray for the salvation of humans. | |
| Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, against those spiritual forces of wickedness. | |
| But we now have a moral outcry petition to the United States Supreme Court where every single one of you could sign the petition at themoraloutcry.com. | |
| What is the moral outcry? | |
| Well, number one, it's a prayer to Jesus Christ to end abortion in America. | |
| Many legal documents actually end with a prayer. | |
| And I'm licensed before the United States Supreme Court, but this petition prays to the court to reverse their abortion cases and prays to Jesus Christ that he would do that. | |
| And it's based on five reasons, basically, Lori. | |
| Number one, as we talked about yesterday, abortion is a crime against humanity. | |
| Like Dred Scott, which enslaved African Americans forever and precipitated the Civil War, abortion is a crime against humanity. | |
| A crime against humanity occurs when the government withdraws legal protection from a class of human beings. | |
| Another crime against humanity was Plessy versus Ferguson, which allowed segregation to occur in America. | |
| And the Supreme Court eventually reversed Plessy versus Ferguson in a very famous case everyone's heard of, Brown v. Board of Education. | |
| And what they did, they didn't create new rights. | |
| Those rights were in the Constitution. | |
| The 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments had ended slavery and given African Americans rights. | |
| But the Supreme Court said separate but equal is equal. | |
| And what happened in 1954, they reversed their own 58-year-old precedent. | |
| It had been the settled law of the land for 58 years. | |
| Millions had ordered their lives upon it. | |
| But the Supreme Court said, no, this is wrong. | |
| We're going to reverse our own case. | |
| And someone like former Senator Diane Feinstein, who said it's been there for 45 or 46 years, you might as well be saying segregation forever, if that's your standard for reversing a Supreme Court decision. | |
| And the second thing is we now know new science shows that life begins at conception. | |
| We've been seeing these beautiful pictures of babies, and they have a right to life. | |
| All humans have a right to life. | |
| When does that life begin? | |
| When the sperm and the egg come together. | |
| A human father and a human mother produce human babies. | |
| Not frogs or pigs or amphibians, nothing. | |
| It's human babies. | |
| Yes. | |
| That human fathers. | |
| So if we believe in human rights, and most people do today, we should give it to them when humans begin. | |
| The third reason is that we now know abortion hurts women. | |
| And the United States Supreme Court, in two actual cases, including one that Sandra Kano and 180 women filed a brief in, said some women come to regret aborting the infant life they once created and sustained. | |
| Severe depression and loss of esteem can follow. | |
| And they cited to the Justice Foundation brief two pages, 22 to 24, and that's where the women's testimonies were. | |
| So we know what touched the heart of the court. | |
| It was women's testimonies. | |
| And they said, infant life. | |
| So we should not call it unborn or pre-born. | |
| The Supreme Court says this is a human life in the womb. | |
| So we should protect human life. | |
| Now, in 1992, the Supreme Court said, we are going to let women have informed consent booklets and tell them about abortion, lest they come to regret it with devastating psychological consequences. | |
| And women all over the nation, including the group that Janet Folger Porter gave us the name for when she met us for the first time, she called it Operation Outcry, Silent No More. | |
| And if you're a woman who's had an abortion, you can give your testimony at operationoutcry.org, and we will take your testimony to courts and legislatures considering banning or restricting abortion, like the Heartbeat Bill. | |
| We hope when it gets to the Supreme Court. | |
| First, they got to pass, then eventually they're going to go to the Supreme Court. | |
| So we have to support this bill and other bills when they get there. | |
| The fourth element is the reliance interest. | |
| There's a new major thing in social evolution in America. | |
| And if you're considering an abortion right now, I'm going to give you another option called the Safe Haven Law. | |
| No woman has to have an abortion to get what she wants from abortion, which is freedom from childcare. | |
| I represent over 4,600 women hurt by abortion. | |
| And basically, there's two reasons women have abortions. | |
| Sometimes, in very desperate circumstances, they say, I can't have another baby. | |
| My husband just divorced me and left me. | |
| I have three children. | |
| How am I going to take care of these kids? | |
| Or it may be some other reason. | |
| Or the other reason is, I don't want to have a children today. | |
| Some women just want to do their own thing and they don't want to have it. | |
| Well, under the safe haven law, she can walk out of the hospital, leave her baby behind, or give the baby back to a hospital or emergency station or fire station within a set period of time after birth. | |
| No questions asked, no legal procedure, and no cost. | |
| It's cheaper than abortion. | |
| Wow. | |
| It's available to the rich and the poor alike freely. | |
| Amazing. | |
| And so we're going to say as a society, let's do justice to the child. | |
| Don't kill the baby. | |
| But it's mercy for the mother. | |
| Don't hurt yourself. | |
| Right. | |
| And we will help you take care of the baby. | |
| Oh, my. | |
| And then the last element is what's going to happen to those babies. | |
| There are now a million people in America waiting to adopt healthy newborn infants. | |
| Wow. | |
| Which is what the safe haven law would produce if women chose to use that. | |
| Instead of killing them, we could give them to families around this country who are having difficulty having children and who want children, who are going to foreign countries to get children and who are paying an average of $10,000 to $20,000 to adopt a healthy newborn infant. | |
| We can stop the abortion wars and go forward to a more just society. | |
| Don't kill the baby. | |
| Don't hurt the women and help the families that need babies. | |
| That's the moral outcry. | |
