Jim Bakker Show - New Era of Prophecy - Larry Sparks on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2019-01-21 Duration: 04:55 === Revival After Revival (03:52) === [00:00:00] That's excellent the way you put it. [00:00:02] Larry, what is the new era you're talking about? [00:00:05] Well, for 2,000 years, I mean, I'm a little bit of a revival history kind of geek. [00:00:10] I don't know how else to say it. [00:00:11] I got my Master of Divinity from Regent studying church history and renewal. [00:00:15] And for the last 2,000 years, we've been in a season where we've seen revival after revival, awakening after awakening. [00:00:21] And a lot of them have not been sustained. [00:00:23] A lot of them you see, they start in this year and they end in this year. [00:00:26] And I'm like, God, why aren't we seeing revival sustained? [00:00:29] And now all of a sudden, you have all these people prophesying, Tim Sheets, Dutch Sheets, Chuck Pierce, Lana Vosser, talking about a new era. [00:00:36] I'm like, God, I don't want hype. [00:00:38] I don't want something that's repackaged in new language that we've been saying year after year after year. [00:00:43] Because can I just, I'm going to have a therapy moment right here on stage. [00:00:45] Like, as a prophetic person, a prophet, for the last several years, just being honest, okay? [00:00:51] We need to be honest about this stuff. [00:00:52] Yes. [00:00:53] I've heard a lot of words, a lot of prophetic words, from people I trust and respect, and I know they're globally recognized prophets. [00:00:59] And I feel like I'm hearing the same word year after year, maybe repackaged in different language, of course. [00:01:05] And I'm like, God, why aren't they happening? [00:01:07] Why aren't they coming to pass? [00:01:09] And I started getting aggravated and frustrated. [00:01:10] And the Lord said, Larry, the prophets will prophesy. [00:01:14] And I'm like, okay, that's a no-brainer. [00:01:15] Of course, the prophets will prophesy. [00:01:16] He said, no, the prophets will keep prophesying. [00:01:19] They will keep saying what I'm saying until people actually partner with the prophetic words. [00:01:24] Until my church, until my people actually live, think, function, act, and pray like that prophetic word is actually true. [00:01:32] Because a prophetic word is conditional. [00:01:34] New Testament prophetic word, there are some things that, you know, Jesus is coming back. [00:01:38] You can vote yes, you can vote no. [00:01:40] Jesus is coming back. [00:01:41] That is an established, set-in-time prophetic word. [00:01:44] But it is one of those things when you get personal prophecies, promises that you know are from the Lord, corporate prophecies, prophecies over nations. [00:01:51] There is a responsibility. [00:01:53] There is an obedience. [00:01:54] And while I was here in this wonderful facility, I was up in the room and the Lord's like, I'm going to tell you how prophecy comes to pass. [00:02:01] I said, okay. [00:02:01] He said, look at Genesis 12 with Abram. [00:02:04] Abram gets a word of the Lord. [00:02:06] God tells him to go somewhere. [00:02:07] He tells him to leave his family, leave that country and go to a different place. [00:02:10] God gives him an instruction. [00:02:12] God gives him this amazing promise. [00:02:14] I'll bless you. [00:02:15] I'll make you a great nation. [00:02:16] And you know, we love those prophecies and promises of blessing. [00:02:19] We love the prophecies that tell us of all the great things God is going to do. [00:02:23] And then we get frustrated. [00:02:25] Why isn't happening? [00:02:26] Well, Abram answers the question. [00:02:28] You know what he did? [00:02:28] It says, he did as the Lord instructed. [00:02:32] He did as the Lord instructed. [00:02:34] So that's why we have this prophetic words 2019 book. [00:02:37] These aren't just words to encourage us, although they will, but these are words that invite us and summon us to participate with God through prayer, through activity, through obedience. [00:02:48] Because you know what? [00:02:49] We've been in a new era since Pentecost. [00:02:51] Pentecost was a new era 2,000 years ago when the Holy Spirit came and was released into the earth. [00:02:57] Here's the deal: we've had revival after revival, awakening after awakening. [00:03:01] Why aren't we seeing things sustained? [00:03:03] Every revival was an invitation for the church to actually change its wineskin. [00:03:09] Every revival was an invitation for Christianity to look different, to actually change its operating system. [00:03:14] To the degree that we accommodate what God is saying and doing, that is the degree to which we will step into a new era. [00:03:21] Powerful. [00:03:22] Good. [00:03:23] Very good. [00:03:23] I understand that. [00:03:25] Why was it important to put this book together, do you think? [00:03:28] I want to represent a community or a collective of prophetic voices that God's raising up. [00:03:34] Excellent. [00:03:34] How did you choose these people? [00:03:35] Yeah. [00:03:36] Through prayer. [00:03:36] Honestly, prayer, relationship, accountability. === Different Streams, Same Source (01:17) === [00:03:41] Anybody in this book are people I know. [00:03:43] They're people I trust. [00:03:44] They're people I walk with. [00:03:46] They're people who I know are two things. [00:03:48] They are aligned with their peers and they are accountable to spiritual mothers and fathers. [00:03:53] That keeps prophets in a place of safety. [00:03:57] When you begin to research for the book, did anything surprise you or shock you or any of the words that they were sending to you for this book? [00:04:07] Yeah, what surprises me and shocks me in all the best ways is that you have different streams. [00:04:13] You have different people and different groups in Christianity represented in this book. [00:04:18] How much some of the language is similar, how close, how similar we are sometimes when we let we cannot let distinction become division. [00:04:27] That's good. [00:04:28] Because there's different denominations, there are different streams. [00:04:30] Obviously, we all want to stand on the uncompromised word of God. [00:04:34] We do not want to go off the page. [00:04:36] But there are different distinctives about these different prophetic voices. [00:04:40] And rather than see it as a point of division, saying, you know what, I don't like how they do that. [00:04:44] I don't like how they do that. [00:04:45] If it's wrong and not biblical, then we don't want anything to do with it. [00:04:48] If it's just different, unique, and maybe representing another side of the character and nature of God, I want to learn how to celebrate distinction.
