Jim Bakker Show - We're in Revival and Don't Know It - Dr. David Barton on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2018-10-19 Duration: 03:02 === Biblical Christians? (03:01) === [00:00:00] I don't even use the term Christian anymore. [00:00:02] I don't like the term Christian. [00:00:04] I use the term biblical because what happens is Christians keep making God in their image. [00:00:09] Well, here's what I believe. [00:00:10] I'm a Christian. [00:00:11] That's what God believes. [00:00:12] No, no, no. [00:00:13] No. [00:00:13] God's got a Bible and that tells you what he believes. [00:00:16] And so we call it ABCs. [00:00:17] Authentically biblical Christians, authentically biblical churches, authentically biblical colleges. [00:00:23] Right now, 50% of Christian kids that go to Christian colleges will renounce their faith while at college. [00:00:29] Tell me that's a Christian college if you're driving people away from Christian faith. [00:00:33] It's not a biblical college. [00:00:35] So we do everything in the name of Christianity. [00:00:37] I don't even like the term anymore. [00:00:38] And as I pointed out, 72% of pastors said we don't believe the Bible. [00:00:42] How can you be a Christian and not believe the Bible tells you how to become a Christian? [00:00:47] So, now, but from a historical standpoint, this kind of polarization that's happening now is always indicative of a revival. [00:00:58] And I think I can statistically prove we're in a revival right now. [00:01:02] But here's the deal: revivals always historically span decades. [00:01:07] The first great awakening went from 1730 to 1770. [00:01:10] That's 40 years. [00:01:11] We think a revival, the Spirit of God's going to come in and turn the nation over on Monday morning at 8 o'clock, we're all going to be fine. [00:01:17] It doesn't happen. [00:01:18] It's decades of hard work. [00:01:20] The second great awakening was 1801 to 1878. [00:01:23] It was 77 years long. [00:01:25] And here's the deal. [00:01:26] In revivals, it is always the church leaders who are the most outspoken advocates of what God's got going on. [00:01:33] If you take George Whitfield in the First Great Awakening, one of the reasons he preached outside was none of the pastors would let him preach inside their churches. [00:01:41] That's the only place he could go. [00:01:42] The pastors actually told their parishioners to go stand in the trees over George Woodfield and pee on him and defecate on him. [00:01:50] That's what the pastors were telling their people to do. [00:01:53] Usually about three-fourths of the way through a revival is when the church says, oh, we think God's doing something. [00:01:58] Let's be the leaders. [00:02:00] And so the church will take credit for the revival, but they're usually the last ones to come on board. [00:02:04] And that's what I see with a whole lot of our spiritual leaders right now. [00:02:07] They're still in that resisting thing. [00:02:09] Their people are going around them, which is, again, why we focus on what individuals can do. [00:02:14] It's not up to church leaders. [00:02:15] I would love to see church leaders be what God wants them to be. [00:02:18] That's why we have the sixth section of the book. [00:02:20] But historically, I think we're in a really good situation, as polarized as it is. [00:02:25] This is part of what helps, as Jesus said, separate the wheat from the tares. [00:02:30] We're starting to see who the tares are, which makes it really easier to know what wheat looks like. [00:02:34] We talked earlier in the Kavanaugh hearings. [00:02:36] With all that nonsense in Kavanaugh hearings, the nation has broken very much in a direction away from what they were trying to accomplish. [00:02:44] And so we're looking at picking up several Senate seats. [00:02:46] We're looking at keeping the House. [00:02:48] The approval ratings for Trump are the highest they've been since he's been elected. [00:02:53] That Kavanaugh stuff was part of separating the wheat from the terrors. [00:02:56] It's not an easy process. [00:02:58] It's not a pleasant process. [00:02:59] Revivals never are. [00:03:00] They're very messy.
