[00:00:04] John chapter 8. [00:00:08] This whole chapter is a story. [00:00:12] The title in our PTL Bible is The Woman Caught in Adultery. [00:00:17] Would you start reading that? [00:00:19] Sure. [00:00:20] Then everyone went to his own house. [00:00:23] But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. [00:00:26] Early in the morning, he returned to the temple. [00:00:29] All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. [00:00:33] The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery. [00:00:38] When they had put her in the middle, they said to him, Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of adultery. [00:00:48] Now Moses in the law commanded us to stone such, but what do you say? [00:00:54] They said this, testing him that they might have something of which to accuse him. [00:01:01] But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with his finger as though he did not hear them. [00:01:09] So when they continued asking him, he stood up and said to them, Wait a minute. [00:01:16] If this was in the United States of America, what would we do right now? [00:01:22] We would get the woman fired from her job. [00:01:25] The press would go on and have every newspaper blasting, this awful woman was caught in the act of adultery. [00:01:33] But not just that. [00:01:36] All the men that she had had relationships would lose their jobs. [00:01:42] They would lose their ministries. [00:01:45] They would lose their church. [00:01:47] They would lose their business. [00:01:50] Because we don't have the gospel of Jesus Christ. [00:01:55] We have law. [00:01:57] Right. [00:01:58] We have a new gospel, the gospel of man, the gospel of, we're going to fix it. [00:02:06] So what did Jesus do in the midst of this? [00:02:10] Read, go on. [00:02:11] I'm going to go back one line again. [00:02:13] But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with his finger as though he did not hear. [00:02:20] Here's what some people, some teachers actually teach, that Jesus at this point was writing the names of her lovers, which happened to be those men pointing the finger at her. [00:02:36] That's what some scholars say. [00:02:37] That's what they say. [00:02:38] Nobody really knows for sure, but that's what some scholars say. [00:02:41] But here's what happened after they read what he wrote. [00:02:44] So when they continued asking him, he stood up and said to them, let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her. [00:02:58] And here's the painting. [00:02:59] This Jesus, our Savior. [00:03:04] And here's the woman. [00:03:06] And he's got the stone in his hand. [00:03:08] And what does he say? [00:03:10] You without sin cast the first stone. [00:03:13] That's right. [00:03:14] And that's what's happening in our country today. [00:03:17] This is what God's been dealing with me. [00:03:19] We've got to get back to the gospel of Jesus Christ. [00:03:23] Amen. [00:03:25] What is the gospel of Jesus? [00:03:27] It's the grace. [00:03:29] Yes. [00:03:30] I didn't plan to start preaching this early in the show. [00:03:32] No, we can't help ourselves for a while. [00:03:34] We got a lot in us. [00:03:35] But Jesus, go on and read a little bit more. [00:03:38] Just let Jesus teach us. [00:03:39] Right. [00:03:42] Now remember, he had just said, you without sin cast the first stone, depending on what translation you're using. [00:03:48] Again, he stooped down and wrote on the ground. [00:03:52] He did it twice. [00:03:54] Being convicted by their conscience, those who heard it went out one by one, beginning with the eldest even to the last. [00:04:03] Jesus was left alone and the woman standing in the midst. [00:04:07] When Jesus had stood up and saw no one but the woman, he said to her, Woman, where are your accusers? [00:04:16] Did no one condemn you? [00:04:18] She said, No one, Lord. [00:04:21] Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you. [00:04:26] Go and sin no more. [00:04:31] It is so powerful. [00:04:35] What's going on today? [00:04:37] Here's the secret. [00:04:39] What does the word say? [00:04:42] We are not to condemn. [00:04:46] We are not to judge. [00:04:49] What do we do? [00:04:52] If we don't get back to the gospel, we are going to bite and devour one another. === Restore With Meekness (01:52) === [00:04:58] Right. [00:04:59] God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross that we would have eternal life. [00:05:06] Amen. [00:05:07] Amen. [00:05:08] Let me read this here. [00:05:10] Here is what the church is to do. [00:05:13] Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fall, ye which are spiritual, restore. [00:05:22] Can you say restore? [00:05:23] Restore. [00:05:24] Restore. [00:05:26] Yes. [00:05:26] He didn't say destroy. [00:05:29] He said, you restore. [00:05:32] Yes. [00:05:33] How do you restore? [00:05:34] In the spirit of meekness. [00:05:35] In the spirit of meekness. [00:05:39] He didn't say go on TV with bullhorns and say, this is a sinner. [00:05:44] Oh, man. [00:05:45] You know, people hate the church today. [00:05:48] They hate religion. [00:05:50] God is saying, you restore. [00:05:54] And we're to restore one another. [00:05:56] We're to love one another. [00:05:58] And it is so important that we do. [00:06:01] Yes, amen. [00:06:02] Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teaches in all good things. [00:06:10] Be not deceived. [00:06:12] God is not mocked. [00:06:14] For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. [00:06:20] The word. [00:06:22] The word goes on to say, let us do good unto all men. [00:06:28] But what's happening in the world right now? [00:06:30] People are biting and devouring. [00:06:33] We're destroying one another. [00:06:34] And we're saying, oh, we're righteous. [00:06:38] That's called piousness. [00:06:41] God says, humbly, restore in the spirit of meekness.
