[00:00:00]  Trump fired the FBI director and a lot of people aren't happy.
[00:00:06]  Yeah, and a lot of them were calling for his head until he was fired.
[00:00:12]  Right.
[00:00:12]  Yeah, like Chuck Devon.
[00:00:13]  That's right.
[00:00:14]  Isn't that right?
[00:00:16]  If you could hear this studio audience, this is a smart studio audience.
[00:00:20]  That's exactly right.
[00:00:22]  First of all, this is my personal view.
[00:00:24]  I don't know why it took him so long to fire the guy.
[00:00:27]  I think it should have been done on the 20th of January.
[00:00:30]  Right.
[00:00:31]  And may I ask a quick question?
[00:00:32]  Don't most presidents, when incoming administrations, don't they usually get rid of?
[00:00:38]  Not immediately.
[00:00:40]  Not immediately, but as a president, as a senior investigator in your administration, you want somebody that you have a relationship with, you know, that's kind of.
[00:00:51]  But doesn't the president have to appoint up to 3,000 people when he's president?
[00:00:56]  Yeah.
[00:00:57]  And fire.
[00:00:59]  4,000.
[00:00:59]  And I mean, you remember Trump used to fire people?
[00:01:03]  You know, you're fired.
[00:01:04]  Well, he has to get rid of about 3,000 is what the number I heard.
[00:01:09]  I'm not sure they could.
[00:01:10]  It's over 4,000.
[00:01:12]  Over 4,000.
[00:01:13]  And he has to replace them.
[00:01:16]  So now the same people that a few weeks ago were calling for James Comey to be fired.
[00:01:26]  They're now saying the world has come to an end.
[00:01:31]  The worst thing that has ever happened in America, there's a constitutional crisis.
[00:01:37]  They're calling now.
[00:01:38]  I know.
[00:01:40]  And it's not, it's just an act of how the government works in America, and we hired a president by voting.
[00:01:47]  Yeah.
[00:01:48]  And he's doing what he said he would do.
[00:01:50]  So your thoughts, General?
[00:01:51]  There are a couple of things that have just come out in the last couple of days, last 24 hours, actually, on Comey.
[00:01:58]  One is that he ultimately, the decision was made because Comey knows who was responsible for unmasking members of the Trump administration like Michael Flynn.
[00:02:12]  And he won't tell, he won't say.
[00:02:14]  He wouldn't tell.
[00:02:15]  Do you know Michael by any chance?
[00:02:16]  I've known him for a long time.
[00:02:18]  Is he a good guy?
[00:02:19]  He's a good guy.
[00:02:20]  He's a good man.
[00:02:21]  He's a good man, but he made a fatal mistake when he lied to Mike Pence.
[00:02:26]  And that was a mistake that he couldn't recover from.
[00:02:31]  The fact that during his recent testimony, he made a statement saying, well, if I had to do it all over again, I'd do the same thing.
[00:02:39]  He said I would have done the same recommendation in July, not to prosecute Hillary, and then I would have brought the evidence forward.
[00:02:47]  And he said, at that time, I had two choices.
[00:02:50]  I could reveal it or I could conceal it.
[00:02:53]  Well, when you got the top investigator in America saying I could conceal information, that means that you've lost perspective of who you are and what your job is.
[00:03:06]  You're not a chief prosecutor.
[00:03:08]  You're the chief investigator.
[00:03:10]  You can't hide information.
[00:03:12]  And I think that's more realistically, that's why he was ultimately fired, was that statement alone said that he had lost touch with what his job was.
[00:03:21]  Right.
[00:03:22]  And I have a question for you, General Boykin.
[00:03:24]  Most of the time, we don't hear about people being fired in politics.
[00:03:27]  Usually, I would say behind closed doors, maybe they're asked to resign or things like that.
[00:03:31]  So do you think this was a message being sent that he was actually fired using the word fired in the media?
[00:03:37]  I think Trump wanted to do this in the strongest terms possible.
[00:03:41]  And you're right.
[00:03:42]  Most of the time it's, well, we've asked for his resignation.
[00:03:46]  He's submitted it.
[00:03:46]  That's what occurs in most cases.
[00:03:50]  I think Trump wanted to send a very strong message.
[00:03:52]  Look, the FBI is so critical to our national security.
[00:03:57]  And He's got to put a new leader in there.
[00:04:00]  And I think he was sending a message, a very strong message to the FBI.
[00:04:05]  Number one, because the morale of the FBI is very low.
[00:04:09]  And I think he was saying, okay, all you hardworking agents out there on the street, I recognize you got a leadership problem at the FBI, and I'm going to deal with it straight on.
[00:04:20]  You're fired, Mr. Comey.
[00:04:22]  Now I'm going to find somebody that can do what's expected of the senior investigator in this country.
[00:04:29]  Now, who would that person be?
[00:04:31]  I don't know.
[00:04:32]  Who is going to take that?
[00:04:35]  Well, the news is speculating about all kinds of people, Trey Gowdy being one of them, you know.
[00:04:42]  But I don't know.
[00:04:44]  This is going to have to be somebody that has, in my view, more than just congressional experience.
[00:04:51]  Trey Gowdy was a prosecutor.
[00:04:54]  He's a good guy, and I know him.
[00:04:56]  But we need an investigator, and that's why I think Comey got crossways with him.
[00:05:00]  He's an investigator.
[00:05:02]  We need the best investigator we can find, and somebody that is not going to go off the deep end and become a political creature.
[00:05:10]  And let me just say that.
[00:05:11]  You've seen a lot of that.
[00:05:12]  We've seen a lot of that.
[00:05:14]  And I, quite frankly, all you have to do is watch the testimony by Comey.
[00:05:17]  And he's got a little arrogant streak in him that I think ultimately did not sit well with the president.
[00:05:23]  I'm speculating on there, but I don't think that sat well with Donald Trump.
[00:05:27]  I agree.
[00:05:28]  I think it didn't sit well with too many people, Americans, who watched those.
