Jim Bakker Show - The North Korean Threat - Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2017-05-04 Duration: 03:49 === Ballistic Threats Tested (02:50) === [00:00:00] Lieutenant Colonel Robert McGuinness sent us a message regarding the development situation in North Korea. [00:00:06] May I play the B-roll for you? [00:00:09] Watch this. [00:00:11] Pastor Baker, it's good to be with you today. [00:00:13] Thanks for the opportunity to address the issue of North Korea and the threat that it poses to the United States and to the region. [00:00:22] Clearly, the United States is taking this threat very seriously. [00:00:26] We've put what we call the FAD anti-ballistic missile system there in South Korea along with the Patriots. [00:00:35] We've sent the USS Vinson into the area and also the USS Kennedy is close by with good reason. [00:00:43] North Koreans have tested nuclear devices five times. [00:00:49] They've tested ballistic missiles that can range the United States and the entire region many times here recently. [00:00:57] They've even shown us the capability of a solid fuel ballistic missile, which is important because that means they can take it anywhere in their country and at a moment's notice launch it. [00:01:10] And it's with good reason that recently Vice President Pence and Secretary Tillerson were in the region and made very clear statements. [00:01:20] They said the military options on the table. [00:01:23] I will tell you, 10 years ago, almost to the day, I was on Fox News and I said this problem may require a military solution. [00:01:36] We cannot wait much longer before it becomes very serious. [00:01:40] Now, I was lambasted, criticized, and yet here today we're hearing that the administration is rightly considering military options. [00:01:49] Now, you've heard speculation that we've used cyber against the recent failed launch attempt by the North Koreans. [00:01:57] Certainly we have that capability, I do believe. [00:02:00] We have the capability of taking some of our Aegis cruisers, which are off the coast, and downing some of those ballistic missiles. [00:02:09] But ultimately, the problem, I think, comes down to persuading Kim Jong-un, the third generation of dictators there, whether or not his regime can survive if, in fact, he gives up his nuclear weapons and what price must be paid. [00:02:27] We paid a lot of prices over the years, but yet he still retains a capability and continues to improve upon it. === Navigating North Korea's Mind (01:13) === [00:02:35] I think the concern is, and rightly so, that he looks at what happened years ago with Omar Qaddafi in Libya. [00:02:43] And in that situation, we said, give up your weapons and we'll take care of you. [00:02:48] Well, he gave up his weapons. [00:02:51] And during the Arab Spring, the radicals took care of him. [00:02:55] And we didn't do anything to assist him to survive. [00:02:59] How do you resolve the situation with North Korea? [00:03:03] Not easy. [00:03:04] The Chinese are cooperating a little more, but ultimately, we've got to get inside that man's head. [00:03:11] And some people arguably and perhaps rightly indicate he's a crazy man. [00:03:17] Don't know. [00:03:18] But I think he's crazy like a fox. [00:03:21] And so we have to figure out how to persuade him not to continue to proliferate weapons, not to be such a tyrant that he kills his own people and at the same time not threaten his neighbors. [00:03:37] We'll have to wait and see whether this ends peacefully. [00:03:42] It has the potential of blowing up not only in that region but elsewhere. [00:03:46] So thanks for the opportunity of addressing a key issue.
