Jim Bakker Show - Mystery of Ishmael - Rabbi Jonathan Cahn Aired: 2017-01-16 Duration: 08:43 === The Mystery of Ishmael (03:07) === [00:00:00] The mystery of Ishmael. [00:00:02] Yes. [00:00:02] Now, this is prophetic. [00:00:04] This has affected every one of our lives. [00:00:06] I mean, every, to this day, you're talking about news reports, is all linked to a mystery that goes back to the tents of Abraham. [00:00:13] And it's amazing. [00:00:14] The whole world, the whole, the peace of the world hangs on a mystery that happened in Abraham, I mean, this desert dweller tent with these two sons. [00:00:23] And that's, and it's behind everything from Islam to Muhammad to Osama bin Laden to Yasser Arafat to the threats on America, all the way back to Abraham's tent. [00:00:33] I mean, really, every answer is in the Bible. [00:00:35] I mean, the Bible explains everything. [00:00:38] And so we go back, to go back to Abraham. [00:00:41] Genesis, God gives him the promise, I will give you a son. [00:00:45] A great nation will come from you. [00:00:47] But as we know, he comes up, Sarah, he comes up with an idea. [00:00:51] Well, God's not doing it, so you know what? [00:00:54] We got to help God out. [00:00:55] And that's always a danger sign. [00:00:57] We're going to help God out. [00:00:58] And you go into the handmaid Hagar and you'll have a baby through her because I can't have a baby. [00:01:05] So he does. [00:01:06] And what happens comes out? [00:01:08] Ishmael. [00:01:09] Here's Abraham's firstborn son, Ishmael. [00:01:12] Now, Ishmael, you know, is there. [00:01:14] Now, keep in mind, he is there for years before there's anybody else. [00:01:18] He is viewed as the heir to Abraham. [00:01:21] I mean, when Abraham, when God speaks to Abraham, says, I'm going to do a great thing, what Abraham says is, yes, Ishmael will be the one. [00:01:28] So everybody thought it was Ishmael. [00:01:30] Everybody thought Ishmael was the one of the promise, including Abraham. [00:01:34] Hagar had to have, Sarah had to have. [00:01:36] So they thought this was the way. [00:01:38] So he's growing up as the one. [00:01:40] Now, at one point, God gives a prophecy concerning Ishmael. [00:01:43] Now, God promises God will make Ishmael a great nation as well. [00:01:47] He'll give him much. [00:01:48] But he also says he'll be wild. [00:01:50] He also says his sword will be against everybody. [00:01:52] His hand will be against everybody. [00:01:54] So it's going to be a wild kind of thing going on with Ishmael. [00:01:57] But he's going to be blessed. [00:01:58] But the thing is, but keep in mind, now here's what happens. [00:02:01] Then, all of a sudden, God comes back and says, now, no, you, Sarah, old Sarah, you are going to have a baby. [00:02:09] And Sarah laughs and God says, Sarah, why'd you laugh? [00:02:13] And Sarah says, I didn't laugh. [00:02:14] He says, no, you did. [00:02:15] And so the name of the baby is going to be called laughter because they laughed. [00:02:20] So in Hebrew, that's Yitzhak, which is Isaac. [00:02:24] So you have Yishmael, Ishmael, and you have Isaac. [00:02:28] Now, what happens with this thing? [00:02:32] What happens is, because of the conflict between the two sons, it comes to a point where finally where Sarah says, and then God says, no, Abraham, it's okay, it's my will. [00:02:40] You're going to have to send away Hagar and Ishmael. [00:02:43] Okay, so Hagar and Ishmael go away to the desert. [00:02:46] God takes care of them and gives a promise again. [00:02:48] He confirms, I'm going to make a great nation. [00:02:50] But think of something. [00:02:51] We don't usually think about this. === Ishmael's Jealousy (05:51) === [00:02:53] Imagine you're Ishmael. [00:02:54] You're Ishmael, and you're growing up as the son, the beloved son of your father. [00:03:00] And then all of a sudden comes another child. [00:03:02] Now, sibling rivalry is the problem to begin with, but here's another child. [00:03:06] Now he's the one. [00:03:07] So first of all, what you're going to be feeling? [00:03:09] Probably jealousy, probably resentful. [00:03:11] Then you lose everything. [00:03:13] When you're about 13, you lose everything. [00:03:16] You lose the birthright. [00:03:17] You lose what looks like your inheritance. [00:03:20] You lose your father. [00:03:22] You lose all that honored position. [00:03:24] You lose all that. [00:03:25] What is that going to do? [00:03:26] And he's just becoming a teenager now. [00:03:28] What is that going to do to him? [00:03:30] What's that going to do to his being? [00:03:33] And now he, now from him, from him come much of the Arab peoples, as we know. [00:03:40] Now, let me just say something of the mystery. [00:03:42] Who is it today? [00:03:42] Now there's some who say, no, there's no question from Ishmael came the Ishmaelites. [00:03:48] From the Ishmaelites, there's no question that the blood of the Ishmaelites is throughout the Arab world, whether there's also other blood as well. [00:03:53] But we have ancient records, ancient records from the Babylonians, even from the Assyrians, that link up the Ishmaelites with the Arab peoples. [00:04:02] We even have records of Arab peoples before Muhammad, before Islam came, where they said, we are the children of Ishmael. [00:04:10] Before, you know, when Muhammad came, he said, we are, I'm from Ishmael, we're from Israel. [00:04:16] So now, no matter what, they've taken up the mantle of Ishmael. [00:04:19] But the point is that, number one, in the Arab, by the way, the Arab civilization had some great, wonderful things, and I love Arab people. [00:04:26] I love when they get saved. [00:04:27] You know, one of my greatest blessings as a Jewish believer is to find an Arab believer who loves the Lord. [00:04:31] It's the most wonderful thing in the world. [00:04:33] But there's a mystery going on throughout history. [00:04:35] You have the people here. [00:04:37] Clearly, the blood of Ishmael is there among the Arabic world. [00:04:41] And the mantle of Ishmael, they've taken up. [00:04:43] You know, if you read the Quran, it focuses a lot on Ishmael. [00:04:46] It says Ishmael is the one. [00:04:47] It says Ishmael, not Isaac. [00:04:49] It says Abraham offered up Ishmael. [00:04:51] It says Ishmael and Hagar, they came to Mecca. [00:04:55] And then Ishmael died in Mecca. [00:04:58] So you've got this whole Ishmael thing going on, the spirit of Ishmael, all that. [00:05:01] Now, but to understand this, what does this reveal? [00:05:04] Number one, about what's happened. [00:05:05] Number one, God says, I will make a great nation. [00:05:08] So God said that way back, 4,000 years ago, he's done it. [00:05:11] The Arab peoples are one of the most populous peoples in the world, number one. [00:05:15] But number two, also, it's telling you from Genesis, from the tents of Abraham, that the destiny of the Arab people is linked to the Jewish people. [00:05:23] They're all there together. [00:05:25] That's why there's a link between, you know, Arabs and Jews are cousins. [00:05:28] You wouldn't know it because the enemy so destroyed this thing, so used it. [00:05:32] But in the end, they're going to be back together. [00:05:33] You know, in the end, there's a good ending to this. [00:05:36] You know, the end, the end of the story, you have Isaac and Ishmael actually together bearing Abraham at the end. [00:05:41] That's kind of a foreshadow. [00:05:42] But right now, they're linked to Ishmael. [00:05:45] But what else do you see? [00:05:48] You have among this, you have Ishmael. [00:05:51] Think about him. [00:05:52] He lost his father. [00:05:54] So what do you have among in Islam? [00:05:57] You have God has no son. [00:06:01] They cannot call God father. [00:06:05] It calls him the merciful, cannot call God father. [00:06:08] Why? [00:06:09] Because they lost the father years ago. [00:06:12] And it's kind of like saying, well, if we don't have the father, nobody has a father. [00:06:16] You look at the Temple Mount, what do you see? [00:06:17] It says, on the Temple Mount, on that don't, it says, God has no son. [00:06:22] You know, so it's so much, so it's going to be against anyone who says, I'm a child of God. [00:06:26] God is my daddy. [00:06:27] It's going to be against all that. [00:06:28] It's going to be against going against Isaac, going to be against all that. [00:06:31] Also, you want to look at all these things. [00:06:34] There's a rage in much of this history. [00:06:38] Not all, but in much of Arabic history, much of Islamic, there's a rage. [00:06:41] There's a fear. [00:06:42] Why? [00:06:43] Because the answer is in Ishmael. [00:06:45] Ishmael would have a rage from that time on. [00:06:49] He would have an anger from that time. [00:06:51] He'd have a resentment. [00:06:52] One of the things about in this, you see this spirit in terrorism, it's a resentment about anybody who has privilege, resentment of anyone who says, I'm loved. [00:07:00] It's a resentment against the Jewish people. [00:07:02] Why against the Jewish people? [00:07:04] Because that's Isaac. [00:07:05] So it's Ishmael and Isaac. [00:07:07] And it's also about America. [00:07:08] Because first of all, if you're born again, if you're a Christian, your link is through Isaac. [00:07:13] Your link is through Isaac. [00:07:14] Messiah is the son of the father. [00:07:16] He's the beloved of the father. [00:07:18] So there's going to be a war against that as well. [00:07:21] There's going to be a war against America because you have all that together. [00:07:23] You have Jew, you have Christian, and you have what looks like blessing. [00:07:27] So you've got all that. [00:07:29] So therefore, when you have all those factors that are all explained in the tents of Abraham, you've got a spirit that says, I'm the outcast one. [00:07:38] So that leads to radicalism. [00:07:39] That leads to, I can't get it this way. [00:07:42] So I'm going to get it this way. [00:07:43] I'm going to get it by the sword. [00:07:44] I'm going to get it by, I'm going to take it back. [00:07:46] Why is there such a focus on the land of Israel? [00:07:50] It's all there in that mystery. [00:07:52] Why? [00:07:52] Because that was the inheritance of Isaac from Abraham. [00:07:55] That's what Ishmael thought should have been his, the land of Israel. [00:07:59] Now, the Arab people have much more land, have gigantic areas. [00:08:03] They only just don't have, but there's a concern about this little land because that's what Ishmael lost in his mind. [00:08:09] That's what he lost. [00:08:09] It's the land of Israel. [00:08:10] What also was the promise? [00:08:13] You know, the covenants, you know, all that came from Abraham to Isaac. [00:08:17] The covenants, the revelation of God, that came through Isaac, came through Israel. [00:08:21] So what did Ishmael do? [00:08:22] Well, we're going to have our own revelation. [00:08:24] We're going to have our own. [00:08:25] We're going to have our own religion. [00:08:28] And we're going to take back everything and we're going to say they all belong to us. [00:08:31] Now we take the prophets. [00:08:34] We take Jesus, but we'll call him a prophet. [00:08:36] We'll take everything you have, but we'll say we'll make it and we're better. [00:08:40] We've got more. [00:08:41] That's exactly the spirit of Ishmael.
