Jim Bakker Show - The Church: a City & an Army - Rick Joyner Aired: 2017-01-16 Duration: 06:10 === Church as City and Army (05:48) === [00:00:00] And God is, I believe every church ought to be a city of refuge for the last days. [00:00:05] Does that agree with you at all? [00:00:06] Yeah. [00:00:07] And I think a key word there is city. [00:00:10] You know, the church is called many things. [00:00:12] Yes. [00:00:13] A bride, you know, a temple, a priesthood, but we're also called a city and an army. [00:00:21] Where do you see the church really be in the city it's called to be? [00:00:26] And where do you see it be in the army we're called to be? [00:00:30] These are the last two major parts, and they're going to come together. [00:00:34] And that's what I address in this book, that we've got to be the army, but we've also got to be the city that is set on a hill. [00:00:42] A city is a community of communities. [00:00:45] And a community is where there's common unity. [00:00:50] You know, but we're going to see communities. [00:00:53] Now, community means common unity. [00:00:55] Isn't that right? [00:00:56] You say that throughout your book. [00:00:58] Yeah. [00:00:59] And so it's a part of what I believe is also the koinonia that we're going to see the church really begin to experience, which is the greatest thing you can experience on this level. [00:01:15] And it can only come through Christ. [00:01:18] But, you know, the first thing he said was not good was for man to be alone. [00:01:22] Loneliness. [00:01:24] But you're going to see what is truly the great society coming forth in the body of Christ that I think the early church tasted four time, but they just tasted it because they were the seed. [00:01:39] But now you're going to see the harvest is when the seeds come to full maturity. [00:01:45] And we're going to see the body of Christ become what everything she was called to be. [00:01:50] And a part of that is becoming the city we're called to be, which right here, that's why you're building all these things here. [00:01:58] It's going to be a city. [00:01:59] People are going to be able to see the body of Christ in action. [00:02:02] We're trying to do the same thing at our place. [00:02:06] We're seeking, and, you know, we're in the formative stages and all, but that's the two things the Lord gave me that we're called to do as a church, city and army. [00:02:19] Wow, and that's what he deals with in this book. [00:02:22] And a lot of God's people are not where they should be. [00:02:27] And if you're a part of a church, you need to start helping that church prepare for an influx, to prepare for the last days harvest. [00:02:37] We're not going out of business. [00:02:40] We're going in business for the glory of God. [00:02:44] The church is going to win more souls in this. [00:02:50] If you read the book, this army of the dawn, this time is going to be a great soul-winning time. [00:02:58] Yeah, it's, you know, weapons of our warfare are not carnal. [00:03:01] We're not going to shoot people. [00:03:03] We're going to heal them. [00:03:05] You know, we're not going to kill them. [00:03:06] We're going to get them saved and give them eternal life. [00:03:09] You know, we're going to bring healing, restoration. [00:03:12] But there are some aspects of a natural army that we've got to take on to be the army we're called to be. [00:03:19] There's a military demeanor. [00:03:21] There's a military discipline. [00:03:23] When Israel came out of Egypt, it says they came out a great mixed multitude. [00:03:30] Basically, you could have said they were a mob. [00:03:34] Before they even got to the Red Sea, they were marching in martial array. [00:03:41] That's how fast he got them marching in military discipline. [00:03:47] And I think it's one aspect where you point anywhere in the body of Christ today. [00:03:53] Where do you see the church really becoming the army it's called to be? [00:03:58] Now, some aspects of missions and some great missions, they've adopted some aspects of this. [00:04:07] Learning to think strategically, have clear objectives, be able to plan and to not only take the ground, but to hold the ground and possess the land. [00:04:20] But a lot of these aspects, I think we're going to see. [00:04:23] I know when General Boykin, who you're going to have here in March, that's great. [00:04:27] He's going to be here. [00:04:28] But when he first retired, yeah. [00:04:33] So excited to have him. [00:04:34] Yeah, he's one of the greatest warriors of our generation, no question. [00:04:38] But when he retired from, he was the head of Delta Force and all, you know, he was at one time head of all U.S. Special Forces. [00:04:47] And then he went on up beyond that. [00:04:49] But one of the key people, I think, that God has both given him experience and knowledge that gives him a basis for understanding the times that may be greater than anyone else I know in many ways. [00:05:04] But, you know, I remember he came to me right after he retired from the Army and he said, you know, I'm getting asked to speak everywhere and I've only got three messages. [00:05:18] He said, I need some more messages. [00:05:21] And he was wanting me to just give him something. [00:05:23] I said, well, you've already got two more than just about most of the preachers I know. [00:05:30] I said, you're way ahead of most of them. [00:05:32] But I said, look, what does the church look like when we become the army we're created to be? === Through Many Tribulations (00:36) === [00:05:40] Now, we put together another book, Jerry and I, on the principles of warfare that will be one of the follow-up volumes to this. [00:05:49] But God is, I tell you, there's some that are really getting it. [00:05:52] They're starting to impart the vision, but you're starting to see it happen. [00:05:57] But we, you know, we are headed for tribulation, but that's the gateway to the kingdom. [00:06:04] Since Acts 14, 22, through many tribulations will we enter the kingdom.
