Jim Bakker Show - The Narcissistic Generation Aired: 2015-12-20 Duration: 01:59 === Sermons That Stir Conscience (01:59) === [00:00:00] There's an article on the news. [00:00:02] Just came on a few hours ago, and you may have heard it by now. [00:00:07] But the president of one of the, I think it was the Colorado Wesleyan College, fed up college president. [00:00:17] He spoke to the kids who keep saying they're victims. [00:00:21] And they go to hear a sermon. [00:00:24] Thank God the Wesleyans are still preaching. [00:00:27] And the kids were complaining that it made them uncomfortable, Steve. [00:00:32] Is that crazy? [00:00:33] Sermons are supposed to make you uncomfortable. [00:00:36] Yes, amen. [00:00:39] And so the president, Piper, and he says, our culture has actually taught kids to be this self-absorbed and narcissistic. [00:00:49] Oh, boy. [00:00:50] Have you ever heard that word? [00:00:51] This is the narcissistic generation. [00:00:53] It talks about how the students were feeling victimized because the university chapel service was about love and they were feeling victimized. [00:01:02] And that they were the love of other people, and they felt like he was entering their private space. [00:01:09] He explained that the familiar feeling of discomfort when confronted with wrongdoing is called a conscience. [00:01:20] Oh. [00:01:21] Wow. [00:01:21] I wonder, has anybody heard of a conscience? [00:01:25] You know, and that the goal of many good sermons is to get you to confess your sins, not coddle in your selfishness. [00:01:33] And now they're trying to throw the guy out. [00:01:36] Some people are. [00:01:37] My goodness. [00:01:38] Anything that makes us uncomfortable, we want to get rid of it. [00:01:43] But, you know, God wants to kind of stir our nest, I think. [00:01:47] You know, you know, President Piper. [00:01:49] You do. [00:01:49] And he's not a quitter. [00:01:51] And thank God he stood up to it. [00:01:53] You know, now. [00:01:54] We all got to stand with him. [00:01:56] It's time to stand behind your pastors, your leaders.
