Jim Bakker Show - Backstage Show with Dr. Don Colbert Aired: 2013-05-29 Duration: 03:24 === Why We Left Traditional Medicine (03:14) === [00:00:10] Hello everybody and welcome to the backstage show with Ricky and Marie. [00:00:14] Today we're extremely excited about the guests we have today. [00:00:17] We have Dr. Don and Mary Colbert. [00:00:20] It's so good to have you guys here. [00:00:22] Yes, Dr. Don is a New York's bestsellers list. [00:00:26] He's written over 40 books and has sold millions of copies altogether. [00:00:30] And his wife Mary, not only does she work alongside of her husband, but she is a minister herself and she's worked in schools, prisons, women's groups all over the United States. [00:00:41] And also together they have been featured on Fox News, ABC World News, BBC, and a bunch of other Christian prominent television shows. [00:00:51] Yes. [00:00:51] Now, you guys believe that eating the way you eat is the way, like a key to a long and joyful life. [00:00:59] Now, have you always believed this way? [00:01:01] Well, no, I haven't. [00:01:02] I had to get sick back in the early 90s. [00:01:05] See, I developed chronic fatigue. [00:01:07] I developed chronic sinusitis, irritable bowel syndrome, and psoriasis, the heartbreak. [00:01:13] They call it the heartbreak of psoriasis. [00:01:15] And I developed these diseases, and I didn't realize it, but literally, what I was eating was a major trigger to causing these diseases when I identified the foods that were the triggers and controlled the stress or learned to cope with stress and cleared a few key things like learn how to think God's thoughts instead of stressful thoughts, as well as get adequate sleep. [00:01:38] See, I was on call every night for years. [00:01:41] And when I implemented these principles, psoriasis gone, totally gone. [00:01:45] Irritable bowel gone. [00:01:47] You know, chronic siniasitis gone. [00:01:49] Chronic fatigue gone. [00:01:50] And so I learned right then that to let my food be my medicine and let my medicine be my food. [00:01:57] It's interesting too because a lot of people think that, you know, that God doesn't care what you eat, that you can eat anything that you want and just pray over it and bless it. [00:02:07] So the message that we often try to bring to the church, the church really isn't interested in hearing because the mindset is, you know, God doesn't really care what I eat. [00:02:18] What's the big deal? [00:02:19] As a matter of fact, he cares a lot. [00:02:21] And it's amazing how much as you get into the world, how much he does care what you eat. [00:02:26] And what Don had to find out as a practicing physician is just how true that was because some foods that people are eating is actually causing their disease. [00:02:36] Wow. [00:02:37] And yet they think, oh, it's okay to eat. [00:02:39] You know, God doesn't care. [00:02:40] Well, if it's causing disease, I think God cares, you know, what you're eating. [00:02:46] And it does. [00:02:47] Don't one of Don's favorite lines is, you catch a cold, you catch a flu, but you develop disease and you develop. [00:02:56] By making wrong food choices consistently. [00:03:00] You see, if you can't resist a donut or a bowl of ice cream or a candy bar, then how are you going to resist the devil trying to kill you? [00:03:08] That's so true. [00:03:09] Audience, this is Donna Mary. [00:03:12] And you guys need to stay tuned if you want to know more. [00:03:14] This is how real they are. [00:03:16] You guys are so amazing. [00:03:17] This has been so fun to interview you guys. [00:03:18] Thank you for this. [00:03:20] Make sure you guys tune in. [00:03:22] Coming up next, the Jim Baker Show.
