Hodgetwins - Traffic Stop Democrats Don’t Want You To See Aired: 2026-03-28 Duration: 08:17 === A Cop's Unexpected Kindness (02:02) === [00:00:00] You won't believe what this cop did for this woman. [00:00:07] From the lens of Cabarrus County Deputy Sean Singleton's body camera, this view is nothing out of the ordinary. [00:00:16] A standard traffic stop. [00:00:17] Riza stopped just 61 and a 45. [00:00:19] But in his line of work, it's also not out of the ordinary to have an interaction like this. [00:00:25] You don't put your lights on until after I slowed down. [00:00:28] I was going to speed limit. [00:00:30] No, but I clocked you at 61 and a 45. [00:00:32] I didn't stop you there. [00:00:34] What's with the attitude? [00:00:35] Just curious. [00:00:36] Caitlin Murkini says she was heading home from church when she got pulled over that Sunday. [00:00:40] And I meet him with absolute attitude. [00:00:42] Just absolute attitude. [00:00:44] What am I allowed to have bad days? [00:00:46] No, everybody's title to a bad day. [00:00:48] I understand that. [00:00:49] I'm not going to be able to do her on a day is not fun. [00:00:51] I can understand that completely. [00:00:52] Okay. [00:00:53] But like, I'm trying to be nice and courteous to you. [00:00:55] And like, I'm getting a lot of heat. [00:00:57] I could tell immediately that it was not the best of encounters. [00:01:04] She was very aggravated. [00:01:06] I come from a background where I don't do cops. [00:01:08] I can't stand cops. [00:01:10] Keeping his composure, Singleton ran her license and decided, despite the heated interaction, to let her off with a warning. [00:01:17] I understand you're having a day. [00:01:18] So I'm not trying to make it any worse. [00:01:20] This is a warning ticket. [00:01:21] Pretty slow down. [00:01:22] That's it. [00:01:22] No court date, no fines, no nothing. [00:01:25] I'll ask you to pay attention to the speed limit signs. [00:01:27] Get to where you're getting too safely. [00:01:29] In that moment, something changed. [00:01:31] No, I could tell something was going on, but and you know, I just asked a question, you know, and sometimes it listens to an answer that you expect, and sometimes it listens to answer that you don't expect. [00:01:43] Are you good? [00:01:44] No. [00:01:44] No. [00:01:45] Anxiety is killing me. [00:01:46] Okay. [00:01:47] I come from a background. [00:01:48] I'm clean and sober now. [00:01:50] I don't like I've always had bad. [00:01:51] Okay. [00:01:52] Incidents caused. [00:01:53] Okay. [00:01:53] Deputy Singleton offering words of encouragement, having no idea what Caitlin was going through until this moment. [00:02:00] Is there anything I can do for you? === The Moment Everything Changed (02:44) === [00:02:02] You smoke? [00:02:06] Do you need help with anything at all? [00:02:10] Do you need a hug? [00:02:12] Come here. [00:02:26] And I'm clean and I'm sober for four months. [00:02:29] Caitlin revealed she was in a fight for her life and sobriety. [00:02:33] Battling years of addiction and abuse, she had just moved to North Carolina, leaving her five-year-old son in Maryland so she could get clean and get him back. [00:02:43] I've never hugged a cop before. [00:02:47] I've always been put in handcuffs by them. [00:02:58] I'm sure there's a good reason for that. [00:03:00] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:03:01] But so far, this is a great story. [00:03:03] Hey, but do you think that's inappropriate for a cop be hugging a suspect? [00:03:10] He could get in trouble for this. [00:03:12] What are you talking about? [00:03:13] I mean, you know how sensitive people are nowadays. [00:03:16] This is a big story. [00:03:17] I mean, I agree with you. [00:03:19] It's a damn good story. [00:03:20] I love this story. [00:03:21] People make me cry. [00:03:22] I'm just saying people on the left, you know, know he's pushing his patriarchy, patriot, calm down. [00:03:29] He's pushing his patriarchy on her. [00:03:32] He's putting advantage of her. [00:03:35] You see what I'm saying? [00:03:37] think it's beautiful. [00:03:37] I'm just saying no idea his humanity and kindness that day changed Caitlin's life and possibly saved it. [00:03:45] I told him, I was like, I'm ready to give up. [00:03:47] I was actually on my way to probably do something that wasn't in my best interest. [00:03:53] Take a deep breath, sorry. [00:03:54] Everything's gonna be okay. [00:03:56] Okay? [00:03:57] You're on the right, Matt. [00:03:58] Doing what you're supposed to be doing now, okay? [00:04:00] All right, don't lose that hope. [00:04:03] That traffic stop happened back in March. [00:04:05] And I left my family. [00:04:06] I left my son. [00:04:08] Now, six months later, this is one of the guys that helped save my life. [00:04:12] Caitlin's celebrating 10 months clean. [00:04:15] Can you say hi? [00:04:17] Doing good? [00:04:18] Can you say it's nice to meet you? [00:04:20] And introducing her son, Isaiah, to the deputy who gave her the strength to get him back. [00:04:26] How are you doing? [00:04:27] Well, you know. [00:04:28] Don't lose that fight to see me. [00:04:30] Okay. [00:04:32] Because there's something in you that's driving you to a better life, right? [00:04:36] Yeah. [00:04:37] Okay. [00:04:38] Don't lose that. [00:04:39] Hang on to it. [00:04:40] He saw me as a person and not an addict. [00:04:44] And he saw my heart. === From Jail to Family Reunion (03:30) === [00:04:47] And he saw that I had potential when so many people had counted me out. [00:04:51] It's like in a time of desperation, really, like where I was like, question, like, God, where are you? [00:04:56] And he sent me in. [00:04:58] It's like an angel. [00:04:59] I don't know. [00:05:00] I'm really praying that Jesus blesses you for your kindness, sir. [00:05:04] Let me pray for you, too. [00:05:05] Thank you. [00:05:07] A great story, right? [00:05:08] This partner feels left out. [00:05:11] He feels left out. [00:05:12] Yeah, let me get a hug. [00:05:14] I'm having a rough day, too. [00:05:20] No, but that could have went left. [00:05:23] Yeah, yeah. [00:05:23] He could have tailored it. [00:05:25] He could have had some black fatigue. [00:05:26] He said, get your ass off the car. [00:05:30] Yeah. [00:05:31] You know what I mean? [00:05:31] But that was great. [00:05:32] Stop resisting. [00:05:34] Yeah, he could have done all that, but wow. [00:05:36] Yeah. [00:05:38] A little support goes a long way, man. [00:05:41] I've been put over and police officers have showed me this same kindness. [00:05:46] Having a bad day. [00:05:46] He should have probably took me to jail because I was leaving out of traffic. [00:05:50] But they cut me a break. [00:05:52] You had one experience where you wouldn't sign the ticket? [00:05:54] Yeah, the cops beat the hell out of you. [00:05:56] And your black ass deserved it. [00:05:59] When they took you to jail? [00:06:01] Yep, I deserved it. [00:06:02] I did. [00:06:02] Everyone signed the traffic ticket. [00:06:04] Yeah. [00:06:05] I ain't signing in. [00:06:06] I wasn't speeding. [00:06:07] I wasn't. [00:06:08] I wasn't speeding. [00:06:10] But I should have signed the ticket. [00:06:12] I should have signed the ticket. [00:06:13] But I wasn't speeding. [00:06:15] You wasn't? [00:06:15] I'll go to the grave with that story because I wasn't speeding. [00:06:18] I've gotten plenty of speeding tickets. [00:06:20] And I signed all of them. [00:06:21] I'll be damned if I signed a speeding ticket when I wasn't speech. [00:06:27] So he took me to jail, and this little white cop, he's probably about 5'4. [00:06:31] Yeah. [00:06:31] And a little Asian cop, they beat the shit out of me. [00:06:33] Why'd he do that? [00:06:35] I don't know. [00:06:37] I guess because as jealous, I was good looking. [00:06:39] I don't know. [00:06:41] It's not like I can fight back. [00:06:43] I'd have whooped both of those two cops. [00:06:46] You gave me some backstory out. [00:06:47] Was you in there acting up? [00:06:49] No, I was vulnerable and I was being nice. [00:06:52] I was being nice. [00:06:53] Those cops just came up to you while in jail. [00:06:56] What did they say? [00:06:57] We just teach him a lesson. [00:06:58] Well, let me explain to you. [00:06:59] I said, why did those cops treat me like that? [00:07:02] They said, well, you're a big guy, and they wanted to test you. [00:07:05] They wanted to test you. [00:07:06] They said they'd test you like that. [00:07:07] Like one of them grabbed my arm and the other grabbed. [00:07:09] They tried to break both my arms. [00:07:11] Yeah. [00:07:11] For no reason, yeah. [00:07:12] You know, I was seriously thinking about going back, finding those cops and doing something real bad then. [00:07:17] But you know what? [00:07:18] I listened to Christ. [00:07:20] But you was like, what, 21, 22 back then? [00:07:23] 22, 23. [00:07:24] That's ancient history. [00:07:26] No, I always sign my tickets. [00:07:28] Yeah, that's good. [00:07:30] You know what? [00:07:31] I went to jail right now. [00:07:32] I can't tell you that it's not a mission of guilt. [00:07:33] Well, no, man. [00:07:34] It's a matter of principle. [00:07:38] I should have signed the ticket. [00:07:39] I would have got that ass beaten. [00:07:41] And guess what? [00:07:42] I ended up having to pay for the ticket. [00:07:44] I was found guilty and everything. [00:07:45] Cops showed up to court and everything. [00:07:47] Oh, you tried to fight it? [00:07:48] Tried to fight it. [00:07:48] Showed up. [00:07:49] Nope. [00:07:49] He was speeding, y'all. [00:07:50] But I wasn't speeding. [00:07:52] I was driving that Patrol 1 security car. [00:07:54] You know how we go to all the communities? [00:07:57] Yeah. [00:07:57] We write all those police officers' tickets. [00:07:59] That was payback. [00:07:59] That's retribution. [00:08:01] I probably had his car towed. [00:08:03] That's why he pulled me over and gave me that ticket. [00:08:06] Yeah, so you probably deserved it. [00:08:08] No, I hope that cop burned in hell. [00:08:09] I wasn't speaking, Cape Hunter. [00:08:10] I swear I wasn't. [00:08:11] Hey, shut up, you. [00:08:13] Oh, I didn't do Yeah.
