[00:00:00]  Miami Heat Point Guard Terry Rozier and Portland Trailblazers head coach Chauncey Phillips have been arrested in connection to an FBI sports gambling investigation.

[00:00:16]  This just came in just a few minutes ago.
[00:00:18]  Yeah, these arrests have just happened.
[00:00:20]  And of course, the Miami Heat Guard Terry Rozier and the Chauncey Bills, the head coach of the Portland Trailblazers, have been arrested.
[00:00:27]  A third former NBA player is also charged.
[00:00:30]  And what law enforcement officials tell us is that there are two separate schemes here.
[00:00:34]  One involved like a game rigging scheme that's involved Terry Rozier.
[00:00:38]  And he allegedly provided information about who was playing in games, who might be on the injury list to some of the sports bettors that he was involved with.
[00:00:45]  And he benefited himself financially.
[00:00:47]  According to one official, he bowed out of a game, taking an injury about nine minutes in to help whatever bet had been placed on that game.
[00:00:55]  Then they are.
[00:00:56]  Man, these dudes make Pete Rose look like a saint.

[00:01:02]  These guys are motel millionaires, and they're trying to do a side hustle.

[00:01:07]  There is a separate alleged scheme, and that's the one that allegedly involves the coat of the Trailblazers.
[00:01:12]  And in that alleged scheme, that also involves three families from the New York Mafia families, the Genovese, the Bonano, and the Gambino crime families.

[00:02:41]  Today we are here in New York to announce a historic arrest across a widesweeping criminal enterprise that envelops both the NBA and La Casa Nostra.

[00:03:00]  I'll just highlight some of the details in the case and the FBI work and then you'll hear from the others.
[00:03:05]  But as you now know, individuals such as Chauncey Billips, Damon Jones, and Terry Rozier were taken into custody today, former current NBA players and coaches.
[00:03:16]  What you don't know is that this is an illegal gambling operation and sports rigging operation that spanned the course of years.
[00:03:23]  The FBI led a coordinated takedown across 11 states to arrest over 30 individuals today responsible for this case, which is very much ongoing.
[00:03:32]  Not only did we crack into the fraud that these perpetrators committed on the grand stage of the NBA, but we also entered and executed a system of justice against La Casa Nostra to include the Bonano, Gambino, Genovese, and Luchasi crime families.

[00:03:54]  The charges and the arrests that were taken down across this country range from wire fraud, money laundering, extortion, robbery, illegal gambling.
[00:04:01]  Thought about our work of defending the homeland and crushing violent crime.
[00:04:04]  Well, this work is also representative of a colossal portion of the FBI's mandate to keep America safe and to keep our entertainment industry fair and secure.
[00:04:13]  And the fraud is mind-boggling.
[00:04:16]  It's not hundreds of dollars.
[00:04:17]  It's not thousands of dollars.
[00:04:18]  It's not tens of thousands of dollars.
[00:04:20]  It's not even millions of dollars.
[00:04:22]  We're talking about tens of millions of dollars in fraud and theft and robbery across a multi-year investigation.
[00:04:30]  And when these two collided together, they perpetrated a fraud that is historic in terms of not just money, but the scheme and the deceit that they utilize to steal and swindle people from money, to include crypto fraud.
[00:04:45]  This is an operation that showcases to you that under President Trump's administration, there is no room for any type of criminal behavior, be it on the world's largest stage or in the back rooms of tiny parlors where guard games are being plugged.
