Hodgetwins - Shane Gillis TORCHES Wokeness LIVE at the ESPYs The View MELTSDOWN Aired: 2025-07-22 Duration: 11:03 === Working The Room (08:30) === [00:00:01] The biggest superstars in sports were in attendance at the Espy Awards last night, hosted by comedian Shane Gillis, who got a mixed reaction from the crowd. [00:00:11] Take a look. [00:00:12] Donald Trump wants to stage a UFC fight on the White House lawn. [00:00:16] The last time he staged a fight in DC, Mike Pence almost died. [00:00:20] You don't have to do that. [00:00:22] It was fine. [00:00:23] I didn't write it. [00:00:26] Actually, there was supposed to be an Epstein joke here, but as it got deleted. [00:00:31] A bookie is what Bill Belichick reads to his girlfriend before bedtime. [00:00:41] They do. [00:00:41] They read The Very Horny Caterpillar. [00:00:46] The little engine that could but needed a pill first. [00:00:52] Look at these hacks. [00:00:54] They don't think it's funny. [00:00:56] Did you see her face? [00:00:57] Whoopie, I think the other females might have thought it was funny. [00:01:00] Engine that could, but needed a pill first. [00:01:04] She just sent the crowd. [00:01:06] Y'all have no sense of humor. [00:01:08] Yeah, y'all just prudes. [00:01:11] Yeah, I got a new show for y'all. [00:01:12] Got a damn good show. [00:01:13] But before we get to today's video, got a new giveaway. [00:01:16] F-250 King Ranch and Camperin' 10,000 and Catch. [00:01:20] Go to my website to get in. [00:01:21] Anything you buy on the site, like Mifflin Blue and capsules with liquid form, my tallow ball, my damn good coffee. [00:01:29] Get you automatically in the win. [00:01:30] Hey, man, when you push the supplements, only pick one. [00:01:32] Once you start picking more to me, you like a pill butcher. [00:01:40] I mean, we got a lot of great stuff, but look like a pill push. [00:01:44] Like a like a, I ain't gonna say. [00:01:47] But anyway, Shane Gillis is probably one of the, yeah, more than like, no, he is like one of the top comedians right now. [00:01:54] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:01:55] Right? [00:01:55] And for them, for her to have this face, you know why she has that face? [00:02:01] Because she's pushing an agenda, a narrative. [00:02:04] He's a white male and he's straight. [00:02:07] Exactly. [00:02:08] And she's trying to attack him. [00:02:10] For what? [00:02:11] Because deep down, she is a racist. [00:02:15] Anybody that looks remotely conservative or Republican, or straight or white, they're going to attack you. [00:02:20] Yeah. [00:02:21] She's a comedian. [00:02:23] Yeah. [00:02:26] Look at Whoopi. [00:02:29] You know, hosting an award show is a tough game. [00:02:32] It really is. [00:02:32] Yeah. [00:02:33] They definitely not calling you. [00:02:36] And so I'll ask you, you think he read that room correctly? [00:02:39] No. [00:02:39] No, no, no. [00:02:40] He didn't basically win. [00:02:41] Wait a minute. [00:02:41] Wait a minute. [00:02:42] Read that room correctly. [00:02:43] That's impossible to read that room because you've got people from all walks of life. [00:02:47] That's not his audience. [00:02:49] There might be some fans of his in the audience, but overall, that's not his author. [00:02:52] That's going to be a tough one. [00:02:54] Did he read the room? [00:02:55] Does that make any sense? [00:02:56] What do you mean? [00:02:57] You think he's going to come up with jokes for that particular occasion? [00:03:01] No, he's going to be who he is. [00:03:03] He's not going to change who he is. [00:03:05] I think those jokes were neutral politically. [00:03:08] Yeah, so yeah, I think he read the room appropriately. [00:03:10] And I thought it was funny. [00:03:12] And there's a lot of jokes that they didn't put in there. [00:03:14] This dude was funny. [00:03:17] You do an award show. [00:03:18] They're there to hear their name called. [00:03:20] They are not there to laugh, number one. [00:03:23] And the first, I'll amend that. [00:03:25] Yeah. [00:03:25] The first five minutes is for you, whoever the host is. [00:03:29] The first five minutes of any award show is for you to get to know the audience. [00:03:33] And the rest of that time, people want to know, did I win? [00:03:37] Yeah, that's what they want to know. [00:03:39] And, you know, you watch all the shows, they're like this. [00:03:42] But this, this, but you know, stand-up comedy, I don't do it anymore. [00:03:46] I mean, I don't know how much you're doing still, but I put my creativity into my plays now because it's one of the hardest things that you do. [00:03:53] I did it for 30 years. [00:03:54] It's so hard. [00:03:55] It's like a high wire acting. [00:03:56] And I always say, it's like, I'm on the stage naked. [00:03:59] Everybody else has clothes. [00:04:00] That's how it feels. [00:04:01] Wow. [00:04:02] Yeah, women just have this warped view of the world. [00:04:07] I mean, everybody's looking at you, but do you feel naked? [00:04:12] I guess she's talking metaphorically, but pretty much saying she feels like she's being graped on stage. [00:04:17] Yeah. [00:04:18] But I wonder. [00:04:20] I sometimes wonder if it is received different in the room because it did. [00:04:23] See, I didn't see those clips. [00:04:25] It looked like the audience didn't love it, but I saw online, he seemed like he was getting a ton of praise. [00:04:29] So I wonder if he was performing more for the audience at home. [00:04:32] And I'll say this: I think Shane Gillis is very funny, but I watch him like I watch horror movies like this because I'm like, what is he going to say? [00:04:38] Is it going to make me deeply uncomfortable or am I going to laugh hysterically? [00:04:41] Because he is known for pushing the line. [00:04:42] Like he's gotten himself in trouble before. [00:04:44] But I think we say it all the time. [00:04:45] Comedians have to be able to go there to keep comedy authentic and especially moments when you need it more. [00:04:51] In this political climate, it's so easy to just go over the line. [00:04:55] I know. [00:04:56] I mean, back in the day, you used to have to go up to the line. [00:05:00] But now, just anything, you're already over the line. [00:05:03] And this is how these women see his act at that show. [00:05:07] They feel like he went over the line. [00:05:08] I don't think he went over the line, but I don't think they're doing a fair critique because it's one perspective. [00:05:13] You're women. [00:05:15] Women have a totally different sense of humor when it comes to comedy. [00:05:18] Yeah, when you look at female comedians, who the audience is going to be? [00:05:21] Females. [00:05:21] You look at male comedians. [00:05:22] Who's the audience going to be? [00:05:24] It's going to be primarily men. [00:05:26] Yeah, but there's women, you know, it's like 50-50, depending on the comedian. [00:05:30] But if women, when you go see a woman comedian, that's all women in that audience. [00:05:34] Yeah. [00:05:34] Yeah. [00:05:34] I don't think they're giving them a fair critique. [00:05:37] Yeah. [00:05:39] We are the first line of defense against tyranny. [00:05:42] Yeah. [00:05:42] And all of this, you can't squelch the comedians. [00:05:44] Don't do it. [00:05:45] It's a mistake because they will go after you. [00:05:47] But one thing he did that I didn't like, and that was he said, I didn't write that joke. [00:05:52] Never do that. [00:05:53] Johnny Carson was on the air for, I don't know, 100 years. [00:05:56] Never once did he say the writer wrote that bad joke. [00:05:59] I think that was his joke. [00:06:01] That was his joke. [00:06:02] That's just a tag to that joke to get an extra laugh. [00:06:04] Yeah. [00:06:05] You call yourself a comedian. [00:06:07] Yeah. [00:06:07] You think he actually didn't write that joke? [00:06:11] Yeah. [00:06:12] You're a total airhead. [00:06:14] If I say a joke and when I'm on stage and it doesn't hit, I got something to back it up. [00:06:19] Yeah. [00:06:19] To tag it. [00:06:20] If it hits hard, I got this to tag it to make it hit even harder. [00:06:24] If a joke doesn't hit, every comedian, if you're seasoned, you're going to have something back up in case the audience doesn't laugh. [00:06:30] And it almost always works. [00:06:32] And when you hear him, when a joke, when you tell a joke and it's silence, you just say, man, I ain't write that joke. [00:06:38] Yeah. [00:06:38] And if people start laughing, people start laughing. [00:06:40] Yeah. [00:06:41] That I just bombed with. [00:06:42] And if you watch. [00:06:43] That's bad form. [00:06:44] I watched the whole clip and couldn't figure out like, you know, like it's hit and miss. [00:06:48] It's a little like you're looking between your eyes. [00:06:50] He uses that line. [00:06:52] Like, I didn't write it. [00:06:53] That was a bad joke. [00:06:54] That's a mistake. [00:06:54] What I realized is overall, first of all, if you're going to push the envelope, be brilliant and own the stage. [00:07:00] Like a Dave Chappelle can deliver things that I feel dirty laughing at. [00:07:04] Like he is, he is so, but he's in charge. [00:07:07] Like he's literally in charge. [00:07:09] I think Shane Gillis is on the level of Dave Chappelle. [00:07:13] Yeah, there's a lot of people on Dave Chappelle's level, but they give him more love because he's black. [00:07:19] Yeah, huh? [00:07:20] And for them to say, when he says, oh, I didn't write that joke, that's bad form. [00:07:25] That's not, y'all don't, y'all are not comedians. [00:07:28] You don't, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. [00:07:30] It's a science to comedy. [00:07:32] Yeah. [00:07:32] Yeah. [00:07:34] What I felt about Shane and every time I watch him is I can feel his nerves. [00:07:39] He has ticks that say like, hell yeah, hell yeah, hell yeah, over and over. [00:07:42] It's like I'm in a speech. [00:07:44] That's part of his act. [00:07:46] That's his style. [00:07:47] That's who he is. [00:07:50] Well, the problem is, though, still, if he then maybe redirected, because there were moments where you could give some genuine shout-outs, like where you call out some of the amazing greats in that room without a joke following everyone. [00:08:01] He had to be starstruck. [00:08:02] I was starstruck looking at, yeah, who was there. [00:08:05] Call out a couple, you know, quiet people. [00:08:06] Well, you have to know how to work the room. [00:08:08] I don't know if he's he was struggling with how to do that. [00:08:11] A lot of people. [00:08:11] Shane Gillis doesn't know how to work the room. [00:08:14] He don't do Shane Gillis don't know how to do crowd work. [00:08:19] Are you kidding me? [00:08:24] People are good. [00:08:26] Maybe I couldn't do it first and favorite. [00:08:27] Maybe I missed it because I thought some of it was funny. === Everything Is Politicized (02:32) === [00:08:31] Epstein joke. [00:08:32] He said, you know, I guess it got deleted. [00:08:34] Probably deleted itself, right? [00:08:35] Probably never existed, actually. [00:08:37] Let's move on as a country and ignore that. [00:08:40] I thought that was funny. [00:08:41] And he actually has to fund Aaron Rod's story in order to get that job. [00:08:44] I think everybody knows about it. [00:08:47] Everyone knows that story. [00:08:48] A lot of the evidence against Epstein, I'm sure it's gone. [00:08:51] It's deleted. [00:08:52] Right. [00:08:53] But the Epstein story. [00:08:55] Never make that assumption. [00:08:56] The audio listeners. [00:08:57] You can't read what you read. [00:08:58] No, but Shane Gillis is kind of part of. [00:09:00] I don't like using these terms, like the manosphere-like comedy. [00:09:03] Like he's in a crowd. [00:09:04] A lot of MAGA guys follow him. [00:09:06] Manosphere. [00:09:07] I think it is, but I hate Manosphere. [00:09:10] That's a term you lefties came up with. [00:09:12] The Manosphere. [00:09:13] Now you act like y'all don't even know what that means. [00:09:18] People are so disingenuous. [00:09:19] They're not genuine at all. [00:09:20] Yeah. [00:09:21] They're white guys. [00:09:22] The people who follow him definitely knew that joke, and they're definitely mad about Epstein. [00:09:27] Okay. [00:09:28] Everybody's mad about Estonia. [00:09:29] Manosphere. [00:09:30] The Manosphere. [00:09:31] Is that only white men? [00:09:32] No, but it is straight. [00:09:34] There you go. [00:09:34] There you go. [00:09:37] They hate white men. [00:09:39] I'm telling you. [00:09:41] He's straight men humor. [00:09:42] Straight guys. [00:09:43] Yeah. [00:09:43] You know, straight guys were always funny. [00:09:47] Was. [00:09:49] No, y'all just don't want to laugh anymore because y'all so offended now. [00:09:53] Yeah, everything's political. [00:09:54] Everything's been politicized. [00:09:56] These jokes are not even political. [00:09:58] Yeah, it was down the middle. [00:10:00] Straight woman and I. Not all of them. [00:10:01] Yeah. [00:10:03] The best one. [00:10:04] Yeah, when I was a kid, they were always funny. [00:10:07] They were always funny. [00:10:08] But, you know, she probably thinks she's funny. [00:10:11] You go back to the past, you say they're always funny. [00:10:13] I guarantee you can't even show those jokes on TV. [00:10:16] I bet half of those shows was removed from Netflix. [00:10:18] Yeah, you can't even tell those same jokes. [00:10:20] Yeah. [00:10:20] Because of women like you. [00:10:22] Yeah. [00:10:22] People like y'all. [00:10:24] Let me see what this fool got to say. [00:10:25] White guys have changed. [00:10:26] Do we talk about John Rickles? [00:10:28] She's talking about Don Rickles and George. [00:10:30] Yeah. [00:10:31] I'm talking about George Carlin. [00:10:32] You know, these are straight white guys. [00:10:34] And, you know, I guess when you know how to do the material, you can make it work. [00:10:40] Yeah. [00:10:40] You can make it work without it being offensive and terrible. [00:10:44] You cannot. [00:10:46] Everything is a comedian. [00:10:47] Yeah, everything's offensive today. [00:10:49] You can't even. [00:10:50] Like, look at that old movie, Coming to America with Eddie Murphy and Arsenal Hall. [00:10:55] They did Coming to America too. [00:10:57] Yeah. [00:10:58] They couldn't be offensive. [00:10:59] Because of who? [00:11:00] People like this. [00:11:01] The left is destroying everything. [00:11:03] Yeah.
