Hodgetwins - Tulsi Gabbard's Relentlessly Goes After George Santos' LIES! Aired: 2023-01-07 Duration: 03:09 === Washington's Culture of Deception (01:35) === [00:00:00] A permanent Washington has created a culture where it's acceptable to lie to further your own interests. [00:00:06] Just try not to get caught. [00:00:07] I should know I served in Congress for eight years. [00:00:10] But even when these politicians do get caught, people just shrug their shoulders and move on. [00:00:15] No big deal, no consequences. [00:00:17] A few examples. [00:00:18] Dick Blumenthal lied about his military service. [00:00:22] And of course, Elizabeth Warren lied about having Native American heritage. [00:00:27] So no one should be surprised. [00:00:29] The American people don't trust these politicians. [00:00:32] They've got no faith that those in Washington are actually working for the people when they're so clearly working for themselves. [00:00:39] George Santos, who was just elected to represent New York in Congress in this past election, has actually been lying extensively about his own past. [00:00:48] Now, he admits to some of these deceptions. [00:00:50] For example, Santos acknowledges that he, quote, embellished his resume by saying that he graduated from Beirut College, but he didn't. [00:00:59] Santos has also admitted he never actually worked for Citigroup in Goldman Sachs, even though his website suggested that he did. [00:01:07] Additionally, Santos once called himself a proud Jew. [00:01:11] But in an interview with the New York Post, Santos now says, quote, I am Catholic. [00:01:16] Because I learned my maternal family had a Jewish background. [00:01:19] I said I was Jew-ish. [00:01:22] Congressman Alec Santos, thank you for joining us today. [00:01:27] The first question I really want to ask you now that all this has been revealed is, what does the word integrity mean to you? === Santos Admits to Embellishments (01:34) === [00:01:35] Answer it. [00:01:36] Answer it. [00:01:36] Well, Tulsi, thank you for having me. [00:01:38] You know, to answer your question, integrity is very important. [00:01:42] And like I said to the New York Post, embellishing the message. [00:01:46] What does it mean, though? [00:01:47] What does it mean? [00:01:48] Because the meaning of the word actually matters in practice. [00:01:51] Of course. [00:01:52] It means to carry yourself in an honorable way. [00:01:55] And I made a mistake. [00:01:57] And I think humans are flawed. [00:01:58] And we all make mistakes, Tulsi. [00:02:01] I think we can all look at ourselves in the mirror and admit that once in our life we made a mistake. [00:02:04] I'm having to admit this in national television for the whole country to see. [00:02:08] And I have the courage to do so because I believe that in order to move past this and move forward and be an effective member of Congress, I have to face my mistakes and I'm facing them. [00:02:19] I'm only human. [00:02:21] You get embellished. [00:02:22] Those are lies. [00:02:23] Like, look, this is what embellishing looks like. [00:02:25] Okay, I put up an ad on e-hommee. [00:02:28] I'm six foot three, but I'm really five foot eight. [00:02:31] Yeah. [00:02:31] That's embellishing. [00:02:32] I have six inches. [00:02:33] No, I'm going to embellish. [00:02:34] I got 12 inches. [00:02:36] Right? [00:02:37] I get down with one and I got a trope between my legs. [00:02:41] That's embellishing. [00:02:42] You just took it just, that's embellishing. [00:02:45] You just lied. [00:02:46] You went to a school, didn't go there, said you was Jewish, but you said, you meant to say you was Jewish. [00:02:55] That's not embellishing. [00:02:57] That is just, you're just lying. [00:02:59] Well, you know what? [00:03:00] He's a Republican. [00:03:01] We picked up a Republican seat with him. [00:03:03] I was like, yeah, but see, we're doing it the right way. [00:03:05] No way. [00:03:07] This dude's a damn Democrat.
