[00:01:57] In the early 1900s, Tulsa's African-American district of Greenwood was known as Black Wall Street with its own luxury shops, restaurants, and movie theaters until the evening of May 31st, 1921, when a white mob descended on Greenwood, shooting black people indiscriminately and burning thousands of homes and businesses along with churches and schools. [00:02:19] When the massacre ended 48 hours later on June 1st, 1921, according to witness accounts, hundreds of survivors were rounded up at gunpoint and forced to march to camps where they were held for weeks. [00:02:32] Survivors recounted seeing bodies dumped into the Arkansas River and into mass graves. [00:02:38] Last month, two of the last living survivors testified before Congress to push for reparations and demand justice. [00:02:46] Yeah, man, that's crazy. [00:02:48] It's a dark moment in American history. [00:02:51] You can't deny that was systemic racism that was racist. [00:02:54] Those were white supremacists that murdered hundreds of black folks.
