Welcome to a new episode of System Update, our live nightly show that airs every Monday through Friday at 7 p.m.
Eastern, exclusively here on Rumble, the free speech alternative to YouTube.
Tonight, Joe Biden is not only the sitting president of the United States, he is also, as Democrats have been saying for 18 months, the presumptive presidential nominee of the Democratic Party for the 2024 election.
Not because he was selected in the back room, but by virtue of the tens of millions of Democrats who cast their vote for Biden in that primary race.
Now, one can certainly dispute how fair or open or democratic that primary actually was, as we have done so many times, but there is no question that throughout that process, polls repeatedly showed that Democratic voters overwhelmingly favored Biden among all the declared candidates against him.
And he in fact received the most votes and thus the most delegates by far of anyone in the Democratic Party primary.
Given that Joe Biden intends to run in 2024 and has repeatedly made as explicitly clear as possible that he rejects efforts to try to force him out of the race by what he now disparagingly calls, quote, the elites, How is that not the end of the story?
What right do media figures and Democratic Party operatives have to unite to override the will of their party's voters?
And more importantly, what right do the oligarchs, the small number of billionaires who fund the Democratic Party, have to use their financial power to try and impose on the party a candidate they did not choose?
Regardless of one's view of Biden and his cognitive capacity to run the campaign and to be president, there is something increasingly alarming and most assuredly undemocratic about the efforts by a handful of powerful media and political and financial elites to force out the nominee democratically chosen, or at least democratically-ish chosen, by his own party.
That's especially true since the Democratic Party continuously depicts itself as the only party that stands for democracy.
We'll examine these growing threats to democracy growing from within the Democratic Party.
And then, beyond the anti-democratic aspects of this elite movement to force Biden out, many Democrats, including prominent ones, are becoming increasingly vocal about the fact that there is something quite clearly racist About the effort to override the choice of the Democratic Party voters and replace Biden with someone chosen by a handful of wealthy elites.
Many leading Democrats have in fact begun pointing out that the vast majority of public voices trying to push Biden out, people like Jon Stewart and George Clooney and Stephen Colbert and Rob Reiner and Chris Hayes and Jake Tapper,
These are just highly privileged and highly insulated rich white men, as the Democratic Party discourse goes, who have nothing to lose from the outcome of the 2024 election because of how privileged they are the way that, say, poor people and black people and Latinos and LGBTs and women are at risk.
Now, this is the same mentality that has made it all but impossible, if they do push Biden out, to choose anyone other than the highly unpopular Kamala Harris.
Because choosing anyone else, that would be depicted as pushing a black woman aside and then replaced with some white person like Gavin Newsom or Gretchen Whitmore or Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who was never elected to that position in the first place.
This is the identity politics monster the Democratic Party has cooked up and unleashed on everyone else and now, like Frankenstein, ...is turning against them.
In a party that has insisted that some voices count far more than others, that, for example, when black women or other marginalized people speak, one has the duty to shut up and listen, in part because those are the people who constantly prop up the Democratic Party, this is also becoming an increasingly awkward problem for Democratic Party elites, many of whom are now being openly accused of racism and exploiting their white male rich privilege in order to try and push Biden out.
As Democrats claim, on the one hand, that a Trump victory would destroy American democracy, that if Trump won this would be the last election we would ever have.
They have, on the other hand, completely boxed themselves in from making the best choice about how to defeat Trump due to the multi-pronged and complex and highly constraining and always changing rules of race and identity politics they have spent years imposing on everyone else.
And we will take a look at that as well.
And then finally, Liberal discourse has been completely dominated for the last 10 months by anger over what Israel was doing in Gaza and specifically how Joe Biden is guilty of what has often been called genocide for enabling all of that to happen by financing, arming, and diplomatically protecting everything Israel has done.
Yet as the 2024 election rapidly approaches, such purported concerns have all but disappeared.
We're placed instead by proclamations about quote, what a good and decent man Joe Biden is.
Or as we heard last night after his press conference, how brilliant and noble he is when it comes to foreign policy.
That's most definitely not because the suffering of the people of Gaza has ended.
In fact, it is, by all metrics, worse than ever.
It's rather because it was always just a question of time when most left liberals would stop posturing and feigning anger about genocide in Gaza and finally pivot to doing everything possible to keep that quote genocide enabler named Joe Biden in place.
That time has now come and it reveals a great deal about the discourse and the priorities and the authenticity of all these people who have been spending months making that claim.

If there is one theme that we have heard from the Democratic Party over the last eight years incessantly and continuously and repetitiously and sanctimoniously, it is that American democracy is at grave danger.
Not because of anything the Democratic Party has done, despite not exactly being world-renowned for being as democratic as possible, but instead due to Donald Trump.
And we continuously hear that, even though Trump was actually already president for four years, that this time people are going to be put in camps, there are going to be no dissidents permitted to speak, there will be no more future elections, that he's essentially going to single-handedly destroy American democracy as we know it.
Now you would think that a party that was actually saying that would make sure that they themselves exemplify the values of democracy, the thing that they claim that they and they alone believe in and can safeguard America from the destruction of, and yet that has been anything but true.
And the 2016 presidential primary, where they wanted Hillary Clinton to beat Bernie Sanders, they cheated repeatedly in order to ensure that Hillary would beat Bernie, as even Democratic Party stalwarts admit, as Democratic DNC officials had to resign when WikiLeaks revealed the extent of their cheating.
In 2020, when it again looked like Bernie Sanders was going to get the nomination because he won the first three primaries, including in Iowa, New Hampshire, and then overwhelmingly in Nevada, as they moved to South Carolina, Barack Obama, behind the scenes, basically coerced and bribed and pushed everyone out of the race in order to make sure that the only establishment candidate was Joe Biden, that the votes wouldn't be split.
They kept Elizabeth Warren in the race, knowing that she would split the vote with Bernie, and that meant that Joe Biden ended up the winner.
And then in 2024, they basically announced at the start that there would be no primary at all.
They would not facilitate a primary.
They wouldn't allow any debates.
The exact opposite of what a party that believes in democracy would have done the last three times that they had to choose their own candidate.
And they were petrified of what the voters would actually decide.
And so the DNC basically forced their candidates to win, even though it had nothing to do with what the people were deciding who were in the party.
Now, despite that, there was a fair and legal Democratic Party primary this year.
There were no legal challenges to it.
Virtually no Democratic Party leader objected to what was being done.
And the winner of that Democratic Party primary process, such as it was, was overwhelmingly one person, Joe Biden.
He got close to 80 or 90% of the vote.
Democrats in polls constantly said that they overwhelmingly wanted Joe Biden to get the nomination in 2024, and he ended up getting by far not only the most votes, but by far the most amount of delegates, a complete majority.
Enough to get the Democratic nomination.
That's how the results of the primary were described as recently as six months ago.
Here from AP News in March of 2024, quote, President Joe Biden has won enough delegates to clinch the 2024 Democratic nomination.
Quote, President Joe Biden, who took office aiming to steady a nation convulsed by the coronavirus pandemic and the January 6th insurrection.
Clinched a second straight Democratic nomination Tuesday.
Congratulations to Joe Biden!
And set up an all-but-certain rematch with the predecessor he blames for destabilizing the country.
Can you believe how many partisan words, just by the way, are pocked into and junking up what is supposed to be a news article about the two parties?
Just like Joe Biden is the candidate that unified the country, that fortified the economy, that took us out of the convulsive divisions of COVID.
And he's now going to run against that guy who destroyed the economy and divided America.
This is a news article on AP.
It goes on, quote, "Biden became his party's presumptive nominee when he won enough delegates in Georgia.
That pushed Biden's count past 1,968 for a majority of the delegates to the DNC in Chicago this August, where his nomination will be made official.
Former President Donald Trump is expected to clinch the Republican nomination shortly, Biden, who mounted his first bid for president 37 years ago, did not face any serious Democratic challengers to his run for re-election at age 81.
That's despite facing low approval ratings and a lack of voter enthusiasm for his presidency driven in part by his age.
Politico also announced the democratically victorious candidacy of Joe Biden to obtain the Democratic presidential nominee on March 12th.
Biden officially clinches Democratic nomination for president.
Quote, the president was always expected to be the nominee, but now he secured, quote, presumptive status.
Biden's victory in Georgia on Tuesday pushed him over the delicate threshold to become the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.
Biden will be formally named the party's nominee this August.
Now you notice there, There's no uncertainty about it.
Biden will be formally named the party's nominee this August at the Democratic Convention in Chicago.
Quote, Biden became the presumptive Democratic nominee by securing a majority of the 3,933 pledged delegates available during the primary process.
Maryland businessman Jason Palmer is the only other individual to earn delegates to the convention so far, though 20 delegates will arrive as, quote, uncommitted following protest votes in Michigan, Minnesota, and Hawaii against Biden's handling of Israel's war against Gaza.
So, at least as the Democratic Party understands democracy, there was an open, fair, and democratic primary process held.
And Joe Biden prevailed as the winner because he got more votes than any other candidate from the Democratic Party voters who have the right to choose who their presidential nominee will be.
And this didn't happen three years ago.
This happened about five months ago.
Now, there is clearly an effort on the part of not the Democratic Party voting base, but on part of the people who exercise the greatest amount of power, the tiny minority of elites, as Joe Biden now calls them.
I haven't ever heard Joe Biden rage against the elites before.
In fact, many people in his party who he's accused of that have gone on television to point out that Joe Biden shouldn't be hostile to the elites of his party, given that it was the elites of his party who made sure he won in 2020 by forcing out all the other candidates who might have divided the vote with him.
But nonetheless, Joe Biden is now very anti-elite.
And his argument is, what right do these tiny group of people, just because they have a ton of money or access to television, what right do they have to override my Democratic victory in the Democratic Party primary?
And yeah, that is exactly what they're trying to do and have been doing for quite some time.
Right after the debate, the New York Times on June 29th reported this, quote, major Democratic donors asked themselves what to do about Biden.
So you have major Democratic donors, the billionaires who fund the Democratic Party, wondering if they should force Biden out even though the people of the party, millions of them, voted for Joe Biden to win.
Quote, some flouted interventions and wondered about how to reach Joe Biden.
Others hoped the president would bow out of the race on his own.
Many came to terms with the low chances that he will do so.
The Democratic Party's perennially nervous donor class descended into deep unease on Friday as some of the wealthiest people in America, some of the wealthiest people in America, commiserated over President Biden's weak debate performance and puzzled over what, if anything, they could do to change the course of the race.
There were discussions with political advisors about arcane rules under which President Biden might be removed from the ticket against his will and replaced at or before the Democratic National Convention, according to a person familiar with the effort.
In Silicon Valley, a group of mega-donors, including the hedge fund manager Ron Conway and Lorraine Powell Jobs, who's a multi-billionaire despite Not having done much other than marry Steve Jobs and then inherit his fortune when he died, were calling, texting, and emailing one another about a situation they described as a possible catastrophe.
And just by the way, now that I, since I mentioned Laurene Powell Jobs in a sort of negative way, I want to also congratulate her.
She just closed the purchase of the most expensive home of any home in the history of San Francisco, a $70 million sprawling mansion on a hill in San Francisco that was just today, according to the Wall Street Journal.
And it kind of matches her $90 million weekend house that she just bought in Malibu.
She also is the owner and the principal funder of the Atlantic Magazine.
So this is a person deeply in touch with what average voters are concerned about, whether or not they voted for Joe Biden because they really believe he's the best candidate And here she is with her multi-billionaire friends plotting in secret in Silicon Valley and other places about how to just get rid of the candidate that the Democratic Party voters want, who wants to be the nominee, who's not trying to get out of the race.
He didn't quit.
In fact, he's trying not to quit, and these billionaires are meeting in secret to figure out how they can use their power to force him out.
Quote, "The donors wondered about whom in the Biden family they could reach, contact to reach Jill Biden, the first lady who in turn could persuade her husband not to run.
A Silicon Valley donor who had planned to host an intimate fundraiser featuring Mr. Biden this summer decided not to go through with the gathering because of the debate." According to a person told directly by the prospective host, another major California donor left a debate watch party early and emailed a friend with the subject line, quote, utter disaster.
In group chats and hushed discussions, some wealthy Democrats floated interventions.
Others hoped Mr. Biden would have an epiphany and would decide to exit the race on his own.
And still more strategized about steering dollars to down-ballot candidates.
The most optimistic donors wanted to wait for the polling to see the scope of the fallout.
The crisis in the donor class Outlined in interviews with almost two dozen donors and fundraisers, many of whom insisted on anonymity to discuss their private conversations, could not work at a worse moment for Mr. Biden.
Former President Donald Trump has outraised him in each of the last two months, raising the president's onescaping financial advantage and opening one of his own.
Now, by the way, The reason Trump was able to close the fundraising advantage that the Democrats and Biden had was because once Trump was convicted in this absurdly trivial case in Manhattan, angry Americans, outraged at the abuse of the judicial system, flooded his campaign with tens and tens of millions of dollars that enabled him to move ahead of Joe Biden.
So that was the immediate reaction of the quote, donor class.
What are we going to do to get rid of this candidate that we no longer want, even though the people chose him?
Not the slightest concern about, wait a minute, is there anything anti-democratic, given how constantly we've depicted ourselves as the defenders of democracy, about sitting here in secret with Lorraine Powell Jobs and various hedge fund managers talking about how to use our massive wealth To force him out of the race.
And just to be clear, the op-ed published this week in the New York Times by George Clooney, which we covered on Wednesday night, was significant not because George Clooney is a famous actor.
There are zillions of those.
Remember when Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign thought they were going to win because they had Beyonce?
Basically every other celebrity other than Susan Sarandon, and they actually thought that they were going to put Lena Dunham front and center to talk about how important Hillary Clinton was because that would energize young voters who just are so connected to Lena Dunham to come out and vote.
The reason why George Clooney carried so much weight is not because he's an actor, it's because he's a billionaire.
Because of the whiskey that he put his name on and sold.
Obviously, he's been around and making tons of money in Hollywood for a long time.
And he is a major, major financial player when it comes to the funding of the Democratic Party.
That's why it had such significance.
Because the people who rule the party, the party of democracy, are not the voters who get manipulated into voting how the elites want.
It's the people who run the party.
Here we are two weeks later.
Obviously, the concerns of these very rich donors have not been assuaged.
Quite the contrary, they're more eager to get Biden out than ever.
It was very notable, of course, that George Clooney is a very close friend to Barack Obama.
Barack Obama and Michelle Obama basically spent their presidency befriending the world's richest people.
That's why they're very happy with their lives.
I never thought Michelle Obama had any chance to come and run.
Why would she?
She has a life.
filled with nothing but complete luxury and celebrity, constantly on massive yachts in the middle of the Mediterranean, because of all their billionaire friends.
So it was notable that George Clooney is a major Democratic funder, but also a very close friend of President Obama.
And a lot of the Obama circle, including those four people who host that very popular Among Liberals podcast, Pod Save America, have been among the leaders in trying to push Biden out of the race.
Here we are two weeks later, though, and the donors are now getting more aggressive than ever.
From the New York Times today, quote, the fallout from Biden's poor debate continues as donors are said to withhold roughly $90 million in pledges.
Some major Democratic donors have told the largest pro-Biden super PAC, Future Forward, that pledges worth roughly $90 million are now on hold if President Biden remains atop the ticket, according to two people who have been briefed on the conversations.
A Future Forward advisor would say only of the group-expected contributions, who had paused donations to return once the current uncertainty about the ticket was resolved.
The cash freeze comes as some advisors around Mr. Biden are discussing how to persuade the president to exit the race, and as his campaign has begun to test Vice President Kamala Harris in head-to-head surveys of voters against former President Donald Trump.
The number of congressional Democrats calling for Mr. Biden to step aside is growing by the day.
The potential shortfall in Super PAC cash comes as the campaign itself is bracing for a rough July fundraising period as major donors question Mr. Biden's viability to win in November.
A leaked poll from a group closely linked with Future Forward after the debate showed that the Super PAC had tested the strength of potential Biden alternatives, including Ms.
Harris, Governor Gavin Newsom, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Pete Buttigieg, the Transportation Secretary.
The poll showed that Mr. Biden had a worse overall favorability rating than all of the alternatives.
Now, one question I have is, are these people just completely naive and ignorant about how politics works?
When you run for president, that's when the American public really pays attention to you.
And then when you are president, even more so, they know Joe Biden and Donald Trump very well because everything possible that's negative in their past have been surfaced.
Remember when Donald Trump won, that's when the Hollywood access tape suddenly surfaced.
Every single thing in Donald Trump's life and in Joe Biden's have all been poured out.
In contrast, that has never been done to Kamala Harris, who, believe me, has a lot of negative aspects to her past and to her character and to her ideology.
So the idea that, oh, these, like, nice little Democrats who nobody has really ever tried to attack and destroy their reputation are running like a point ahead of Joe Biden.
It's supposed to be persuasive when the minute any of them become the nominee, if they do, Republicans are going to pour tens and hundreds of millions of dollars into battleground states to completely destroy their reputation.
But this is the kind of utterly anti-democratic scheming that is going on inside the Democratic Party.
And a lot of party leaders who are very loyal to Joe Biden, especially Black elected officials and black activists who typically and traditionally are most loyal to the Democratic Party leaders for purely pragmatic reasons are starting to raise their voice and suggest that there's simply deeply undemocratic going on.
Here is Simone Sanders, who used to work for Joe Biden inside the White House, who went on to MSNBC and expressed her serious concerns about the undemocratic nature of trying to push Biden out of the race.
So, Simone, if you're in that meeting right now, if you're a member of the Biden campaign and you're trying to convince these skeptical senators, hold your fire.
What's your best argument?
Look, I think your best argument is there was a primary process, and you can have qualms about how open you think that process was, but there was a primary process, and Democratic voters cast their ballots for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
And asking the Senators in that room, have they heard from the delegates?
Have they heard from the voters in their states?
Because the Senators, thanks to my former, former, former boss, Senator Bernie Sanders, The Senators and members of Congress, they no longer have a vote on the first ballot when it comes to convention.
They're all superdelegates.
They're unpledged delegates, and unpledged delegates do not have a vote on the first ballot.
And so, I do think that there's a fundamental misunderstanding of the process here.
Now she's talking there about how in 2016 there was a major controversy because all the establishment Democrats, the Senators, the members of the House, were all given delegate status, what's called superdelegates.
So even if Bernie Sanders had arrived at the convention with more votes than Hillary Clinton by virtue of the Democratic voting process, They had this backup plan in place that they could choose Hillary anyway because of all these Democratic Party insiders who had superdelegate status.
Now, that was even too much for the Democratic Party, too anti-democratic, so they changed the rules so that these same people would still be superdelegates, but they couldn't vote on the first round of voting, only in subsequent rounds if someone didn't get a majority in the first round.
But there you see Simone Sanders, a hardcore Democratic insider and MSNBC host, starting to say, look, There's something very strange here going on, because whatever you want to say, there was a primary and Biden and Harris were chosen.
Now, I purposely picked Simone Sanders, not because she's the only one saying this.
There are really a growing number of people like her who are saying that, and as we're about to show you, people who are usually completely unquestioning of the Democratic Party, who are starting to raise these concerns.
I picked Simone Sanders I just want to show you just what unabashed and limitless liars, shameless liars, these people are who run the kind of swampy parts of both parties.
So you just heard Simone Sanders saying, look, the reason why we can't get rid of Joe Biden is because we had a primary and he won.
And she even said, look, you can quibble with how open it was or whatever, but we did have a primary.
Simone Sanders, back in 2023, is the person the Democratic Party sent out to announce on Morning Joe that there would be no primary allowed, that there would be no debates, that the DNC would not facilitate a Democratic primary, that it's over before it even begins, that Joe Biden will be the nominee of the Democratic Party before a single vote was cast.
Because the DNC would not permit anyone to run against Joe Biden in any kind of a meaningful way.
Here's Simone Sanders.
Remember, this is the same Simone Sanders now saying, we can't get Biden out because he won.
The people chose him in a fair and democratic primary.
Here was Simone Sanders when asked about the people running against Joe Biden, which at the time were people like RFK Jr.
pulling pretty high against Biden.
And Marianne Williamson, here's what she had to say back then.
Bobby Kennedy Jr., doing well.
He's at 19%.
Hasn't really gotten that much out there.
And I'm starting to hear more and more talk about him.
Are we going to actually have a challenge here?
I'm trying not to laugh, Joe.
There's not going to be- Wait, can I just- Can I stop you for a second?
Do you know how many people said the same thing about Donald Trump in 2015 on this show?
Except I will note- Said the same exact thing.
Yes, because there was going to be a Republican primary, but I really think that- Did you hear this?
She said, I have to laugh at the idea that Joe Biden's going to have any challengers.
And Joe Scarborough said, well, do you remember how many people sat at this table and others and laughed at Donald Trump, and yet he ended up winning?
And Simone Sanders said, yeah, there's a difference.
The Republican Party allowed a primary in 2016.
We, the Democrats, are not going to allow one.
If you think I'm exaggerating, listen to what she said.
But I really think that the mealy-mouthed Democrats, as I like to call them, and some of my progressive friends who would like to live in a fantasy land, they need to come back to reality.
And the reality is this.
The sitting president of the United States of America is a Democrat.
A Democrat that would like to run for re-election, so much so that he has declared a re-election campaign.
In that case, the Democratic National Committee will not facilitate a primary process.
The Democratic National Committee will not facilitate a primary process.
Even though there are other people who want to run against Joe Biden, the DNC will not allow it.
They will not facilitate a primary.
This is the same person now arguing that Biden can't be kicked out because he was chosen by the voters in a fair primary.
Here's what she went on to say.
In that case, the Democratic National Committee will not facilitate a primary process.
There will be no debate stage for Bobby Kennedy, Marianne Williamson, or anyone else to stand on.
So we're going to have another Bobby Kennedy in an empty chair in the debate, right?
There will be no debate.
The Democratic National Committee administers the debates and they're not going to set up a primary process for debates for someone to challenge the head of the Democratic Party.
Do you hear that?
Isn't that unbelievable?
Just ignore the fact that Simone Sanders is now the one this week saying, we can't push Joe Biden out because it would be anti-democratic.
A lot of other people are saying that who didn't say what she said here.
But just on its own, isn't it remarkable that the Democratic Party said explicitly, make no mistake, she's not like a pundit, she's our spokeswoman for the Democratic Party, She announced in advance, we're not having a primary.
We will not facilitate a primary.
There will be no debates.
There will be no votes.
There will be no primaries.
Joe Biden is the nominee of the party, period.
And in fact, there were certain states where the Democrats didn't even allow a ballot, like Florida, didn't even allow people to vote.
Well, like I said, there are other people who are very, very, very steadfastly and in a servile way loyal to Joe Biden.
Who are in fact making the same argument.
Here is Aaron Rupert.
He used to be with Vox, where he would manipulate all kinds of videos.
Now he's on his own, but he has a big following among the kind of real fanatical resistance Democrats.
And here he is denouncing Jon Stewart, who did a video saying, Joe Biden needs to be out.
And this is what he said, quote, Jon Stewart ignores that, quote, one, there was a whole ass Democratic primary election.
I'm glad he had a chance to vent though.
I mean, we haven't seen Democrats fighting with one another in at least eight years.
"The Thunderdome Convention would do anything but, quote, 'unify the party.'" I'm glad he had a chance to vent, though.
I mean, we haven't seen Democrats fighting with one another in at least eight years.
You have to go back to the Hillary-Bernie primary.
Even in 2020, when Bernie ran again, he was a very docile, controlled form of Bernie Sanders.
They were all unified in how Trump was the worst Hitler.
It was really in 2016, the last time they allowed there was any kind of real vibrant disagreement with the Democratic Party.
And now you're seeing it again, because so many of these people are being resentful, I would say not even unfairly or illegitimately, about the attempt by these wealthy, prominent Elites to force Joe Biden out of the race, even though he was the choice of Democrats.
Here's Chris Jackson, one of the same kind of Aaron Rupert people, got very kind of built his own opinions, just being a fanatical resistant Democrat.
And he says, quote, the following, disenfranchising 14.5 million primary voters, that's how much, how many people voted for Joe Biden, is a blatant attack on democracy.
We cannot allow this to stand.
I do think the Democratic Party has a major problem on its hands.
Not only...
Because a lot of their own, not just voters, but their own most influential partisan loyalists are starting to say, wait, I thought we were the party of democracy.
This seems like the opposite of democracy.
But as we'll show you in just a second, they're also now starting to say that what the Democratic Party elites are doing has a ugly racist component, an ugly racist stench to it by trying to push Joe Biden out of the race.

Now, it's not a surprise to anyone paying even minimally close attention to American politics that one of the things that Democrats have done is conceive it's not a surprise to anyone paying even minimally close attention to American politics that one of the things that Democrats have done is conceive of and then cultivate and then implement and then weaponize a racism discourse that basically automatically declares that anybody who disagrees with
them.
The primary argument against people who supported Bernie Sanders in 2016 was that the reason Sanders supporters didn't want Hillary Clinton was because they were misogynistic and there were all those articles about Bernie bros and misogynies, misogyny that were constantly circulating.
That is the primary tactic and obviously that was weaponized severely in 2008 when Hillary Clinton ran against Barack Obama.
And the Obama people constantly insinuated that the Clintons were racist and the Clintons constantly accused Obama supporters of being misogynistic.
You just wind up a Democrat and they spew out these.
One of the reasons why, by the way, I've been so offended that so many conservatives have decided to adopt the same framework since October 7th is they run around accusing anyone who disagrees with them of being an anti-Semite.
But anyway, we've talked about that on many other shows.
I just say that here because it's not only Democrats who do that, but it's Democrats who really specialize in it.
So what we're starting to see now from hardcore Biden supporters is an attempt to say that not only is this elite attempt to drive Biden out of the race anti-democratic, it also has a very racist component, in principle because the leading advocates of driving Joe Biden out of the race seem to be overwhelmingly rich, white, straight, and men.
Here is Wajahat Ali, A rich, straight male in media, but because he's kind of not white, he gets to invoke this privilege discourse.
Here he is today saying, quote, George Clooney, James Carville, mostly white male pundits, Michael Bennett, all want Biden to drop out immediately.
You know who doesn't?
Most black Democratic voters.
I trust them.
So that's how he reasons.
He sees white, rich male Democrats over here, and then black voters over here.
He claims that black voters, the majority of them, want Biden in the race.
I don't know what the basis of that is, but let's assume that's true.
And he doesn't use his own thought process to decide which is the right position.
He says, when white people are over here with one position and black people are over here with another, I go with the black people.
I assume the black people are right.
Here is Nicole Hannah-Smith, the former journalist with the New York Times, who now teaches at, I believe, the University of North Carolina, and she's with other media outlets as well, and this is what she said today on Twitter as well.
Quote, this is what I am hearing from so many black Americans, and especially black women, who feel, one, that their vote, decision, and concerns are being undermined by non-black people in the Democratic Party.
Two, that too many people reporting and commenting on all of this do not seem to understand the stakes.
And three, that perhaps the polling is reflecting a Democratic Party that is attacking their own candidate rather than the opposing one.
And she was responding, the whole Hannah Jones was, saying, this is what I'm hearing from black women, too.
They don't want Biden out of the race.
They're angry that a bunch of white rich men are trying to push him out.
She was responding to this commentary by a black pundit on CNN, Ashley Allison, whose video she reposted and wrote over.
And this is what Ashley Allison said on CNN.
If Joe Biden stays in the race, I'm going to do every single thing I can to defeat Donald Trump.
Because as a black woman living in this country that has less constitutional rights than I had from the day that I was born 42 years ago, I refuse to live under Donald Trump's reign again.
I refuse to risk our democracy.
And Joe Biden is the person right now who is able to defeat him.
And so when people are saying, do something to prove that you have the command of the knowledge, and you stand up and you call on 10 reporters and you answer 19 questions for 59 minutes, then I ask you, if you go and say, step down, then what is the test that he must prove over and over again?
Because then it feels like you, as a person who was calling for him to step down, is being disingenuous.
Now, I'm not saying it's not wrong, because that debate was terrible.
And Joe Biden has acknowledged that.
But as people who are living with the fear of a possible dictator to take over this country, I just ask you, as a Democratic Party, And I'm not super excited about Joe Biden, but I am terrified of Donald Trump to get it together for the people that you are asked to represent.
There is too much at stake.
And I just I don't understand what more people need after a night like tonight to say he is the leader of the free world.
I sometimes on television say, I mean, like, there go I but for the grace of God that I am not held to the mistakes I make sometimes on television in the days of my life.
And I'm just, it's a, I'm a little annoyed and I'm furious because I talked to black people who have saved this country over and over, who helped elect Joe Biden, who, who saved the Democratic Party.
Timeless, timeless time again.
And black people are saying, let it go, folks.
Exactly.
Black people, she says, are saying, let it go, folks.
Now, we have seen over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again that wealthy, privileged black pundits who go on TV and purport to talk for all black people, speak for all black people, including ones who don't get to go on TV, who aren't of their class, are as separated from the people on whose behalf they claim to speak as any other type of pundit.
I mean, if you just look at, for example, polling on police, you almost always hear from black pundits who go on television or black hosts that the police are evil, that we want less police.
And yet you poll black communities and they all say exactly the opposite, that if anything, they want more police or the same amount of police.
They don't want less police.
Because unlike the neighborhoods where a lot of these black pundits live that are very safe, the majority of people who are working class of all races live in neighborhoods where they actually want the police and need the police to protect them.
They don't have private security.
They don't live behind gates.
But it is true that the people who the media presents as representing the Democratic Party are now explicitly starting to infuse a racial component to this discourse about trying to drive Biden out of the race.
And what they're saying is, Basically, their argument is this, that Joe Biden is the safest way to defeat Donald Trump.
And a lot of these pundits who are going on their podcast or going on TV and talking about all these fantasy ways of replacing Joe Biden because they think it would be entertaining and fun, they're able to do that because they don't have anything to lose.
They'll be fine if Trump is president.
But the people who have something to lose, the people who are going to end up in the camps, are us, the marginalized people, the black people.
And we, unlike them, can't risk that.
And since we, the black people, are the ones who support the Democratic Party most, are most loyal to it, our voices should be heard and not theirs.
And it's not only coming from black Democrats, it's also coming from The white savior liberals who believe that they've somehow earned the right to speak on behalf of black people as well.
So here's a very white male Democrat, Tristan Snell.
And he posted this picture on Twitter.
And there you see, we just have the first two rows.
Oh, actually, here's all three rows.
So he says, these are all the people who actually want Biden out of the race.
And there at the top, you see the Pod Save America bros.
There's Chris Hayes, Jon Stewart, Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert.
I'm not sure who this very old person here is.
Who?
Oh, it's Stephen King.
Yeah, Stephen King, Rob Reiner, George Clooney, Michael Moore, John Cusack.
And this Tristan Small said, and again, this is highly representative of what the Democratic Party has become, the discourse that drives it.
He says, these are the folks calling for Biden to quit.
Gosh, if there was only something they all had in common.
Meaning, yeah, they're all basically racists.
They're all people drowning in their own privilege, white, rich, straight, immune from any of the problems of the Trump.
A presidency unlike the marginalized people who they don't care about.
Now, for me, nothing is more entertaining, few things are more entertaining than when I watch a Democratic Party loyalist have to confront for the first time that he is getting attacked and is the subject of this kind of rotted racism discourse that the Democratic Party has weaponized for so long.
Here is Don Lovett, one of the Pod Save America hosts, and he's responding here to this tweet I just showed you where their picture is at the top, implying that the only reason they are being called, the only reason they're against Biden staying in the race is because they're white men, rich white men.
And then he says the following, thank you for holding me accountable.
Indeed, it is racist and sexist to believe Vice President Harris would be a stronger candidate than President Biden.
I'm learning and I'm listening and I'm learning.
So he's basically mocking the racism discourse in the Democratic Party, something he would have been petrified to do at any other moment until finally he's the one targeted by it. - Okay.
Because in this party, the minute you disagree with any of them, they instantly throw that accusation at you.
It is a monster the Democratic Party has created that so often consumes the left and is now consuming the Democratic Party itself to the point where they're most stalwart loyalists.
Imagine Chris Hayes.
You spend your entire life, you sacrifice your soul.
I knew Chris well before he got an MSNBC contract.
He was a hardcore hater and critic of the Democratic Party from the left.
And in order to get his MSNBC job and keep it, be able to pay off his mortgage on his second house in the Hamptons, he just sacrificed his whole soul.
He's like a hardcore Democratic Party cheerleader.
But the minute you step one inch out of line, They say the only reason you think the way you think is because you're a racist white man who doesn't understand or care about the marginalized people in the party.
Here's a viral tweet that was posted yesterday that was responding to George Clooney's op-ed for Biden to get out of the race.
And this is what he said, quote, George Clooney is not black.
He's not Jewish.
He's not female.
He is not poor.
George Clooney will not be hurt by a Trump presidency.
I, and likely you reading this, will.
So I'm riding with Biden.
Now, you'll note here, this person is actually a white man, but he has subtly expanded the list to the list of minority groups, marginalized groups that you have to listen to, to include people who are Jewish.
I never knew before that Jewish people in America were marginalized or not doing well, but apparently we're now on the list as well.
So, what he's saying here is that, you know, he was perfectly happy with George Clooney when he was spending millions and millions and raising tens of millions of more for the Democratic Party, but the minute he steps out of line, The implication here is that George Clooney doesn't care about black people or Jewish people or females or poor people because he's not any of those things and therefore can play around since he won't be hurt by a Trump presidency, unlike all the people who are members of this group.
I mean, do you see how poisonous this discourse is?
But they cannot control it any longer because they've cheerleaded for so long.
Here's a tweet that also went very viral.
By a woman, Rebecca Caffeinated Crone, who also is a resistance online leader.
We actually have the number of views.
It got 4.8 million views.
It was retweeted almost 6,000 times and liked another 17,000 times.
And here's what she said.
This is her perspective of what's been happening.
Pundits say, Joe Biden needs to drop out.
Biden says no.
Pundits, but we really want Joe Biden to drop out.
Biden says no.
Eight House Democrats say, Joe, the pundits say you need to drop out.
They really want that.
And Biden says no.
George Clooney says, Come on, Joe, just relax.
You'll like it.
You'll like dropping out.
And then Biden says no.
And then finally, the voters, as represented by Hearst, end up and say, No means no, motherfuckers.
Politics and rape culture are too similar for comfort.
So it's like rape, what Joe Biden is experiencing, because it's rape culture.
He has been told many times to drop out.
He keeps saying no, and they don't accept no for an answer.
And again, this is not like some random troll I'm picking up.
This is one of the most viral tweets on this topic on that day, comparing the Democratic Party leaders who are pushing Biden out to rapists.
Now, from the beginning, the idea was, look, when we push Joe Biden out, we want to make sure to choose the most popular person and most likely to defeat Donald Trump.
And a lot of them were fantasizing about like Gavin Newsom.
He's young, he's aggressive, he's articulate.
I'm not sure that people and Swing states would like the idea of someone who did what he did to California, would then do it to the nation, but whatever, Democrats believe he'd be popular, or Gretchen Whitmer, or Pete Buttigieg, or Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, a whole bunch of people, mostly white, who they would push out Biden for, and then put that person at the head of the ticket, but not Pam Kamala Harris.
And several leading black people within the party, pundits and others, have made very clear from the beginning That any attempt to push Biden out and then put a white person in the head of the ticket and not Kamala Harris would never be accepted by the black people in the party because that would obviously be racist.
Here is Illy Mistal, the justice correspondent for The Nation, who said on June 28th, Listening to white folks blithely talk about pushing Biden off a cliff, skipping over Harris, and trotting out some white person like ain't nobody gonna notice, that is some hilarious shit.
Some of y'all need to phone a friend.
A black one.
Now, I don't know if you've seen Ilya Mystel in interviews, this is not how he speaks, but obviously he's trying to tell liberals, white liberals, this is not something that we're gonna let you get away with.
And so he constructed the tweet that way.
Now, here's Bakari Sellers, who is a former member of the South Carolina legislature from the Democratic Party, a longtime leader of Black Democrats.
He's now a pundit on CNN.
And he went on to Twitter on July 5th and he said, quote, Lastly, I've read entire articles that speculate about Biden dropping out and literally don't mention Kamala.
Look, if something were to happen, Kamala is the nominee.
She has the infrastructure and war chest.
And then he goes on.
Now, again, on the one hand, you have the premise that there has never been a threat greater to the Democratic Party than the possible re-election of Donald Trump.
It would destroy democracy.
It would end civilization as we know it.
It would be the last election we ever had.
We would live under full-scale dictatorship with death camps.
For black people, Latinos, Muslims, women, Jews, and poor people.
Pretty much like 80% of the country.
And LGBTs as well, so another 7%.
So 87% of the country would be in death camps.
That's the premise.
But on the other hand, they're saying there's all these rules of identity politics and racism accusations that absolutely constrain you from doing what you want to do.
You can't push out Joe Biden, no matter how far he is behind the polls, because that's a transgression to the black women who voted for him and who Nicole Hannah-Jones is hearing in her own life.
I'm sure the black woman Nicole Anna Jones speaks to are highly representative of black voters generally on the University of North Carolina campus and the other East Coast enclaves where she populates.
But she's saying, I've heard from black voters who say we want Biden in the race and these white rich men who are attempting to drive Biden out don't care about us.
So they can't push out Biden.
And then if they do push out Biden, if the rich people in the party succeed in that, they cannot put anybody in his place except Kamala Harris, because to do so would be racist.
And so I find it very enjoyable to watch all of these white Democrats who have said nothing about this discourse for so long, finally now getting targeted by it because they're stepping out of line and they have no defense to it except John Leavitt, who starts mocking it, mocking a racism accusation for the first time because this time he's being charged with it.
And so on top of all the other problems that Democrats have, they can't even really openly debate what to do because of the accusations with which they will immediately face as a result of these rules of discourse that they have not only allowed but encouraged to grow and amplify and be weaponized for so long.
I just want to, while we're on the subject of liberal discourse and Biden, ask the question if anyone knows what happened to all of the liberal talk about Gaza and how there was a genocide there and how Joe Biden was leading the genocide and enabling genocide.
Now, as I've said before, I can, I guess, understand how someone might say, I think Joe Biden is guilty of genocide, but I'm still going to vote for him.
Because I guess maybe the reason that he's like the lesser of two genocidal evils or something.
I personally don't understand how you can actually accuse somebody of enabling a genocide and then decide that people have to vote for them.
Seems very contradictory to me.
I mean, I get that you end up voting for people in a democracy who you think have flaws.
who are less than perfect or whatever, but, like, there has to be some line, like, actually accusing somebody of being genocidal, probably the worst crime against humanity that could be committed, seems to me like that should be over a line.
But at the very least, I guess how someone might distort their brain so much that it makes sense to say, I think Joe Biden is guilty of genocide, and I'm going to vote for him.
But to say, I think Joe Biden is guilty of genocide, and then he preys on him at the same time, that makes no sense to me, except that it means that the people who are accusing Joe Biden of genocide never really meant it.
it.
We're just posturing for their own brand or whatever.
Here is Rachel Maddow, probably the most influential TV liberal, who went on TV last night right after Joe Biden gave his press conference at NATO, where he spoke for about 50 minutes without a script on various foreign policy topics.
And here's what Rachel Maddow had to say about Joe Biden.
And I won't go on at length.
I will just say, though, you noted that there were some moments of startlingly impressive command of the issues.
This is just my opinion.
He is not only strong on foreign policy, he is just fundamentally right on foreign policy in the way that he talks about it.
And again, your mileage may vary.
That is how I feel about the way he talks about our relationship with our allies and our relationship with NATO.
You can hear his command of the issues, particularly in his asides, like mentioning as an offhand way that it was Turkey, really, that needed to be talked into an expansion of NATO that included Finland and Sweden, talking about the numbers of Russian troop losses in Ukraine.
Now, there you see her spawn on the left, Chris Hayes, who owes his job to her, and he's just, like, sitting there, nodding madly every time Rachel Maddow offers another bit of praise for Joe Biden's foreign policy acumen, how everything he does has always turned out to be correct and right, how she always agrees, so he's sitting there just nodding, which is one of his jobs when Rachel Maddow's on air and speaking.
Let's watch that.
The fact that he turned in his notes after he spoke privately with President Xi, alluding to the fact that Trump had all those weird meetings with the Russians and Putin in which he had no note taker present.
I mean, it's even in the little assigns where it just shows you he is a master of the foreign policy field and has been for decades in his career in the Senate, the vice president and the presidency.
I've never seen anybody like nod their heads so intensely in just like a 90 second period.
I actually didn't think the neck could sustain that.
I thought you'd at least like sprain it, if not break the neck.
But maybe Chris Hayes has a particular elastic one.
But it's kind of amazing because remember, Joe Biden was the leading and most influential advocate in the Senate, convincing Democrats and liberals to support the Bush-Cheney war in Iraq.
He was the breaking member of the Foreign Relations Committee.
Now when I got to know Rachel Maddow, when I used to go on her Air America show in 2006 and 7, and then her MSNBC show in 2008 and 9 and 10 and 11, she talked about the Iraq War as this like act of grave evil.
This extreme crime.
And now here she is saying, Joe Biden has such a grasp, not only a grasp of foreign policy, but also his judgment is unerring.
Everything he does and says in the foreign policy realm is correct.
I agree with it.
So it's got the Iraq War, the bombing of Libya, the CIA attempt to Overthrow or regime change, Bashar al-Assad that destroyed that country.
Obviously, he supports the war in Iran, but also presumably the war, the decision to arm and fund and protect the Israeli war in Gaza.
And you see Chris Hayes sitting there nodding his head.
Now, Chris Hayes is somebody who has been feigning and purporting to be so offended by Biden's support for Israel over the last eight months.
And not only did he sit there and nod his head madly while Rachel Maddow was saying how everything Biden does in foreign policy is so correct, but Chris Hayes himself went on his own program on July 10th and he began a monologue by saying this, quote, Joe Biden is a decent man who has done nothing wrong.
He has not got caught in a scandal.
He's just aging.
And that reality, I think, makes him increasingly likely to lose election to a Republican candidate.
Now, if you're somebody who actually believes That the Israelis are committing war crimes in Israel, that they're engaged in genocide, and at the same time you believe Joe Biden has supported it and enabled it and paid for it, which he has.
How can you then possibly say, at the same time, that Joe Biden is a decent man?
We covered this last night, what is meant when people say Joe Biden is such a good and decent man, he has such high value, such high character, but in the case of somebody who has spent nine months
Crying practically on air about how emotionally moved he is, about how angry he is by what the Israelis are doing in Gaza, to then turn around and speak about the person most responsible for that, which is not Benjamin Netanyahu, who couldn't do it without the help of the United States, but Joe Biden, and say he's a good and decent man, just proves how inauthentic all of that was.
There's no way you could have believed what he was saying for the last eight months and then turn around and say this about Joe Biden.
Now, I know we don't hear much about Gaza anymore.
I know we don't hear about much what Israel is doing anymore.
There are no more campus protests because they crushed a lot of them.
It's also college break in the summer.
But despite the significantly reduced attention being paid to and anger and rage about Biden's support and financing of and arming of what's going on in Gaza, the destruction and suffering and carnage in Gaza has not reduced at all.
Here is a Nathan Robinson of Current Affairs who says, quote, so much for all eyes on Rafa.
That's what a lot of liberals have been saying.
He said, quote, while the world stopped paying attention, Israel has turned Rafa into a, quote, flattened wasteland and an unrecognizable depopulated ghost town.
Now, you may recall that before Israel began invading and bombing Rafa, the official position of the Biden administration was not only that we oppose it and don't want it to happen, Joe Biden proclaimed it a red line, which is president speak for that we will not allow under any circumstance a country to do this.
And if they do, we will act very strongly to punish them.
And Netanyahu laughed in his face from the very minute he said that.
And Netanyahu kept openly saying, we don't care what the administration wants.
We don't care what Biden says.
We're going into Rafa.
And then when they first run into Rafa, the Biden administration was trying to justify it by saying, oh, they're just like going in a little bit.
They're just like pinpointing and pinpricking.
And in reality, Rafa looks like every other part of Gaza now, completely and utterly destroyed.
And then just this week, Joe Biden announced that he was sending a huge cache of 500 pound bombs to Israel, the bombs that are used to do all of this.
So it's like, where did all that discourse go?
All that rage and anger go as the election approaches?
It's all disappeared with the exception of a few people.
And I wish I could say that was surprising.
But in fact, it was totally predictable.
In fact, in March of 2024, I posted online a poll.
And I asked, when will left liberal YouTube hosts and streamers pivot from, quote, Joe Biden is literally enabling a genocide dude, to look, I'm not a fan of Biden, but you got to get out and vote for him if you live in a swing state.
And I gave the options, will it happen in March?
Will it happen in May?
Will it happen in July?
Will it happen in October?
Proving what brilliant impression followers I have on Twitter, the overall winner, the overwhelming winner of that poll was that will happen in July and that's exactly when it's happening.
Everything that was about, let's make sure Joe Biden wins or get him out to make sure Democrats win, no more.
Even Thayne concerned about what's going on in Gaza.
Just let's get the Democrats winning even though they were the ones responsible for all this.
Here is the New York Times today.
Reporting on Gaza City and a neighborhood that, and what it now looks like now that the Israelis just left.
Quote, Gaza City neighborhood left in ruins after Israeli withdrawal.
Quote, remember this is not five months ago, this is today.
Quote, residents and rescue workers say they found dozens of bodies and most buildings reduced to ruins when they returned to the Shaji neighborhood in Gaza City after Israeli troops pulled out this week, having fought an intense two week battle against Hamas militants there.
The offensive was part of a wider Israeli effort to clamp down on a renewed Hamas insurgency in Gaza City, where Israel's military has reported fierce battles with armed fighters.
Palestinians returned thereafter, heeding a call by Israel to evacuate, and said the neighborhood was so devastated it was uninhabitable.
Quote, the current situation in Shahjaheed today is tragic, said Amman Sidhu, a photographer who went back to his home as he heard that Israeli forces had pulled out.
Karam Hassan, a Gaza City resident who went there to see the aftermath of the raid, said that families who had hoped to return to the residences Found themselves having to stay in shelters and displacement centers because nothing was left of their homes.
Quote, homes are all reduced to piles of rubble, bakeries and shops are destroyed, and even the streets have been dug up, he said.
The situation is very tough and the scale of destruction is immense.
Now, it wasn't just random people accusing Joe Biden of enabling genocide, it was the most prominent left wing elected officials in the United States.
Here was Ilhan Omar, only in May of this year, not in October, November, but just in May, a couple months ago.
And this is what she said, quote, this is unconscionable.
This is a time to use all of our leverage and restrict military aid, not fuel the flames of an already catastrophic genocide.
President Biden must change course.
So she was accusing Biden just two months ago.
Of enabling and protecting a genocide.
Perpetrating a genocide.
And the tweet that she was responding to said this.
"The Biden administration is moving forward with more than a billion dollars in new weapons deals for Israel just days after the White House said it paused a shipment of bombs." Here's Rashida Tlaib, the Democrat from Michigan, who said this in July, "It's sick how the government of Israel intentionally targets Palestinians over and over again while world leaders watch and say absolutely nothing."
Some of it, some of it, some even fund it proudly, obviously meaning Biden.
This is genocide.
Targeting civilians like this is a war crime.
ICC, where are the arrest warrants?
And just this week, there was a video of Palestinians who were playing soccer and a bunch of other Palestinians watching.
You can imagine there's not a lot to do.
So they use this space at what was a school and is now a shelter to play soccer and watch people playing soccer as well.
And there was a huge Israeli airstrike right there.
And you can watch it all happening as a result of video obtained by Al Jazeera.
Yeah.
- -
That was in Con Unis.
I get the idea that was in Khan Yunis there were dozens of people reported killed.
It's hard to overstate what the people of Gaza have gone through.
This is now a war in its 10th month of unprecedented civilian infrastructure destruction, using massive bombs in extremely densely packed areas filled primarily with children and women.
That's all still happening just because so few, even though so few people are talking about it in the hope to get the Democratic Party responsible for this re-elected.
Here's a tweet that Rashida Tlaib just retweeted yesterday.
It's from the IMEU Policy Project.
It says, quote, A New York Times investigation has confirmed that a bomb made in the US by Boeing was used in this Israeli airstrike that killed Palestinian children playing soccer at a school in Gaza.
This is what President Biden and Congress are doing with our tax dollars.
So the bombing that we just showed you actually, as usual, was an American bomb made by Boeing, sent by the Biden administration to the Israelis to bomb Gaza.
And so you have here major democratic leaders Who are continuously calling this a genocide.
And yet, other than Rashida Tlaib, who, whatever you think of her, is at least following that claim to its ultimate conclusion, because she seems like she really believes in it.
You can't really find Rashida Tlaib talking much about helping Joe Biden or the Democrats win.
She was encouraging people in Michigan in the primary to vote uncommitted or against Biden to send that message.
But most of the people who have been echoing what they've been saying, calling this a genocide and the like, have totally abandoned that in favor of, oh, let's elect a Democratic Party.
Justice was so predictable that they would do.
They got a lot of benefit from posturing as radicals.
They threw around the word genocide.
Seemed like they cared so much.
And then exactly as the people who responded to my poll predicted, in July, those people would stop pretending that they cared and start focusing only on how to keep the Democratic Party responsible for this, quote, genocide in power.
Just to tell you about one completely preposterous component of all this, as you probably remember, Joe Biden announced that they were going to construct a pier off the coast of Gaza.
In order to get humanitarian aid into Gaza because the Israelis barred them, barred the United States from getting that aid in by land.
So first, the United States tried parachuting it in.
Complete humiliation.
We're paying for this war.
And the Israelis said, you're not going to allow humanitarian aid in.
So we had to first try and drop it by parachute.
And then we built a pier, the Biden administration did.
Multiple times since that pier has been built just a few months ago, whenever there was bad weather, it began breaking into little pieces and floating away.
It was completely dysfunctional.
And now, the Biden administration announces just a few months later, quote, Pentagon to dismantle the temporary pier built for Gaza aid operation.
Quote, the $230 million short notice project has struggled to overcome rough seas and other problems since it started in May.
In a statement, Major General Patrick S. Ryder, the Pentagon's press secretary, said the latest effort to re-anchor the pier failed because of, quote, technical and weather-related issues, recurring problems that the New York Times identified last month when it reported that military officials had warned aid organizations that the project could be dismantled as early as July.
Mr. Biden ordered the U.S.
military to begin building the pier in March at a time when he was being sharply criticized for not doing more to rein in Israel's military response.
At the time, health authorities were warning that Gaza was on the precipice of famine.
Mr. Sullivan explained that the PIR was not necessary, as necessary as it once was, because more land crossings to ship and into Gaza had opened in recent weeks under pressure from the White House.
Quote, the real issue right now is not about getting aid into Gaza.
It's about getting aid around Gaza effectively.
But there are a lot of things that we need to work through, including lawlessness and armed gangs.
In some cases, Hamas itself is trying to disrupt and derail the delivery.
Still, humanitarian groups have complained that the PIR has largely failed in its mission.
And nearly two months since it was first attached to the shoreline, the pier has been in service only about 20 days.
The rest of the time it was being repaired after Rep C's broken apart, detached to avoid further damage or cause or pause because of security concerns.
Can you believe the Biden administration built a pier that cost $230 million that didn't even work?
It was supposed to be a pier in the ocean.
Obviously it was predictable it was going to rain, but when it rained it broke into little pieces and now they're dismantling it entirely.
One of the things I've seen certain liberal pundits and Democrats and the like doing is saying, look, we can accept Kamala Harris.
But not Joe Biden because unlike Joe Biden, somehow Kamala Harris has no responsibility for or connection to support for the Israeli war in Gaza?
Are you really going to try and convince yourselves of that?
That you're comfortable supporting Kamala Harris even though you've been calling this genocide because somehow it's only Biden but not Kamala Harris supporting this war in Gaza?
Do you really think Kamala Harris is more anti-Israel?
Did Joe Biden?
Have you ever watched her speeches given to AIPAC?
Or just I'll show you a little snippet of an interview Kamala Harris did with Katie Couric in January of this year, where Katie Couric, to her credit, had to force Kamala Harris to answer one question that she refused to answer repeatedly, which is, are you in favor of imposing conditions on the transfer of Israeli weapons and Israeli money of American weapons and Israeli money to Israel?
And listen to what Kamala Harris said.
Let's do more to protect innocent civilians.
We've been very clear humanitarian aid must flow from day one.
I will tell you one of my areas of priority included.
Let's think about the day after because we must stay focused on an eventual two state solution.
Well, having said that, I want to tell you something which I'm sure you're well aware of, that BB Netanyahu, Prime Minister Netanyahu, recently said.
He rejected U.S.
calls to scale back Israel's military action in the Gaza Strip or to support a Palestinian state after the war.
He even said that Israel, quote, must have security control over the entire Territory west of the Jordan River, which includes Gaza.
So given those positions, how can you possibly come together?
How can the US and Israel come together to solve this?
And should aid to Israel be conditional?
So I'll start with the principles that we are applying to this discussion, which we've been very clear with the Israeli government about.
One, as it relates to the day after, there should be no reoccupation of Gaza.
There should be no changing of the territorial boundaries of Gaza.
That the Palestinians are entitled to, in equal measure with Israelis, security and prosperity.
Doesn't sound like Bibi Netanyahu agrees with that.
We're the United States of America.
I'm telling you our position.
And we take our role in this discussion very seriously.
There may be disagreements.
That doesn't mean we're going to change our mind.
About the principles that are important to be applied to this process in terms of what a day after.
Should look like and those principles remain consistent.
We believe very strongly.
I believe very strongly Palestinians are entitled to dignity and self-determination.
We believe there must be a two-state solution for the sake of the stability in the region.
We believe very strongly as a first principle Israel must be secure that Hamas And it must not be in a position to commit terrorist acts against innocent people or the people of Israel in particular.
So should aid, Madam Vice President, be conditional?
If the Prime Minister of Israel is stating this, should that aid not come if there's not that kind of flexibility that you're seeking?
We are right now in a position of negotiating with Congress to follow through on a commitment we made for aid.
And we are taking it one day at a time in terms of what is happening in the region and how we are addressing the issue.
But that's where we are right now.
So I don't feel like you really answered my question.
I think I did.
But do you think it should be conditional?
I know you're carrying out... That's not our position right now.
Not right now?
Yeah.
Okay.
All right, so for those of you who were saying that the Biden administration is guilty of genocide, and I've seen you saying, look, we can live with Kamala Harris because she's not as responsible for the war in Gaza.
There she is.
What else do you need from her?
She's saying it's not our position to tell the Israelis that we're going to condition aid if they don't actually carry out the things that we want them to do, that if they don't agree to these kinds of Humanitarian demands that they don't get more humanitarian aid in.
She was asked, are you going to limit Israeli weapons?
And she said, no, that's not our position now.
So what is the difference, someone tell me, if you want to try and make this argument between Kamala Harris and Joe Biden when it comes to The Israeli, the United States arming and funding and diplomatically protecting, without conditions, everything Israel has done in Gaza.
Now, just want to show you one last, two last issues quickly.
One is, we've been doing a lot of reporting on how the Israelis have been pressuring big tech to censor debate about the war in Israel online.
Not in Israel, but in the West for Americans.
Today there was a story about how the EU has taken another step forward to try and prosecute TwitterX for not censoring enough under EU law.
And right after the October 7th attack, one of the things that the EU did when it announced this process against X is they wanted to deliberately get more conservative and centrist support for the EU censorship scheme.
They accused X of failing to censor enough anti-Israel content.
And that, of course, is the reason that, as we've shown you many times, TikTok was finally banned because people became convinced that there was too much Israel criticism allowed to circulate on TikTok.
And that was why so many young Americans were against the war in Gaza.
So all that censorship has been going on for a long time.
The Israelis have been meeting with big tech.
They've been trying to circulate studies showing that Big Tech is not censoring enough anti-Israel content, and it's been paying off.
And today, from NBC News, it's paid off again.
Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram and WhatsApp, the parent company of Facebook, says it will now remove more posts attacking, quote, Zionists.
A term some use interchangeably with Jews, the company said it made the change in line with its long-standing policy banning attacks based on protected characteristics such as nationality, race, or religion.
Now, the idea that Zionism or Zionist is synonymous with Jews is preposterous.
There are all kinds of Jewish anti-Zionists.
There are a huge number of Christian Zionists who aren't Jewish at all.
Zionism is a belief about what the Israeli state should be, namely that it should be an ethno-state dominated and run by a majority of people who are Jewish.
It's a philosophy.
It's not a group of people.
It's not a demographic.
You're allowed to oppose Zionism without being bigoted.
And yet, Israel has done a very good job of pressuring big tech companies to constantly constrict the amount of speech permitted, not in Israel, but in the West, When it comes to their country and the wars that they're waging and the policies that they are implementing, that in the West we are slowly losing the right, and we've seen legislation in the United States, and we covered recently law firms that refuse to hire anybody participating in anti-Israel protests of being hired.
We are losing the right continuously to speak freely about this foreign country.
We had Lee Fang on a few weeks ago to talk about the investigative journalism that he did, showing the connections and attempt by the Israeli government to control a variety of groups inside the United States about disinformation campaigns and influence campaigns the Israeli government is running to shape and manipulate American opinion, all things that in any other case would be considered Quite destructive and alarming if it came from any other country.
There you see the Lee Fang article on his Substack pro-Israel group censoring social media led by former Israeli intel officials.
That's from yesterday, and we're going to have Leon, I'm sure, next week to talk about this reporting, but there's a lot of this going on.
But the people who usually object to big tech censorship or to foreign influence campaigns are very notably silent.
Now, I wanted to just conclude the show since it is Friday night.
It's our last show for the evening with some encouraging news, with some happy news, with a little bit of celebration so that we're not letting you walk away very grim and in despair.
We want to give our congratulations because it is very successful to AIPAC, the American Israel Political Action Committee, who announced today a remarkable achievement.
Quote, all 90, every last one of the 90 AIPAC endorsed Democrats have won their primaries so far this cycle.
Being pro-Israel is good policy and good politics.
So congratulations to AIPAC and to Israel for their remarkable success in influencing American politics.
They have a great Ability, a singular ability to remove members of Congress who question or challenge Israel in any way.
And as long as you keep that pro-Israel line and therefore win the AIPAC endorsement, you're almost guaranteed to win your race.
Look, 100% of AIPAC-endorsed Democrats have won their primary races cycle.
100%.
They didn't lose a single race.
So let's give the AIPAC their congratulations.
Let's join in the celebration of how much power they have in American politics, how much power Israel has in American politics, as a way of just feeling a little bit good, a little bit celebratory as we close the last show of this week, because we don't want to leave you, as I said, in a bad mood or in despair as we head into the weekend.
All right, that concludes our show for this evening.
