[00:05:05]  This is the first time since the early 1970s man is going back to the moon.
[00:05:10]  We are going further into deep space than man has ever gone today.
[00:05:16]  It's a pretty big deal.
[00:05:17]  Artemis II.
[00:05:19]  It is, the Apollo was, can we go up there?
[00:05:22]  Artemis is all about can we live there?
[00:05:27]  And today we're going up to the moon.
[00:05:29]  The president was supposed to be at the moon launch.
[00:05:31]  I don't think he's going to be at the moon launch, the rocket launch tonight.
[00:05:35]  Why?
[00:05:36]  Because he's holding a presidential address.
[00:05:39]  Back up before that, before the moon launch and before the presidential address, he's attending for the very first time a president is attending a Supreme Court hearing.
[00:05:53]  And it is the first time, I believe it is the first time a president has attended one of these.
[00:05:59]  But it's very, very rare.
[00:06:03]  And he's attending on birthright citizenship.
[00:06:07]  Just that alone, the Supreme Court is hearing birthright citizenship is a big deal.
[00:06:12]  The president going to be there to listen to the argument, that also is a big deal.
[00:06:17]  Just that alone is a showstopper.
[00:06:19]  Then tonight at 9 o'clock, a major speech on the Iraq war, 9 p.m.
[00:06:24]  A couple of things about that.
[00:06:26]  That's about an hour after Passover begins.
[00:06:29]  So he's going to be giving a speech about a war in Iraq with Israel, and he's giving it when Passover has already done.
[00:06:38]  There's something big happening in tonight's speech, okay?
[00:06:43]  Because yesterday he was talking about ending NATO.
[00:06:46]  Get your own oil, is what he said.
[00:06:48]  England and the Aussies have already had their prime minister give an address to their people, and they are saying a major disruption on oil is coming.
[00:06:57]  This is going to be tough.
[00:06:58]  We got to be prepared for it.
[00:07:00]  The EU has said the same thing.
[00:07:03]  The world is on edge tonight.
[00:07:05]  I don't know what he's going to talk about tonight, but you'll have about an hour, maybe a half an hour, could be two hours to enjoy the space flight and go, wow, that's really cool.

[00:07:15]  And then right into the speech.
[00:07:18]  Then he had the executive order on mail in ballots yesterday.
[00:07:22]  The judges went crazy.
[00:07:23]  I mean, it is nuts.
[00:07:25]  Today is a really consequential day in history.
[00:07:31]  Whew.
[00:07:33]  But can we just start with a positive?
[00:07:35]  No, no, no, not the bang bang with fang fang.
[00:07:37]  Not yet.
[00:07:38]  Not yet.
[00:07:39]  Let's start with a positive.
[00:07:41]  Tonight, we as people are going to be given something really, really rare, something almost out of time.
[00:07:48]  We're going to be given a light and one that rises.
[00:07:52]  It's going to cut through the darkness.
[00:07:53]  It is a wonder of the world to see.
[00:07:56]  And it's going to remind the world that America is still capable of astonishing things.
[00:08:03]  That's what the launch tonight is.
[00:08:05]  Artemis 2 is about a flame that is going to lift off the earth, carve its way into the heavens for a day, just circle the earth and then.
[00:08:15]  Hit the rocket again, and millions will stop.
[00:08:18]  They will look.
[00:08:20]  Maybe, you know, maybe for the first time, a lot of them will be not looking down at their phones, but up, not sideways at each other, but up.
[00:08:28]  And when we have this rare moment, whether we realize it or not, when we're looking up, we're looking at hope.
[00:08:40]  I think this is a miracle and not a miracle that was given to us.
[00:08:45]  This one was built, this one was forged, this one was.
[00:08:48]  Calculated down to the smallest fraction by thousands of men and women all over America who will never ever be known by name.
[00:08:57]  Engineers and welders and programmers and mathematicians, each one of them doing their small part, every single one of them not capable of pulling off the mission alone.
[00:09:08]  But together, together, they can bend reality just enough to make the impossible happen.
[00:09:19]  Wow.
[00:09:23]  We've been here before.
[00:09:24]  We walked this road when Apollo 11, the moon landing, carried men to the surface of the moon.
[00:09:31]  I was five.
[00:09:33]  I don't remember it.
[00:09:35]  Not really.
[00:09:35]  I mean, I remember, I think the echoes of it, it might just be the movies.
[00:09:38]  I don't know.
[00:09:41]  But I think I remember that something extraordinary that has just happened.
[00:09:50]  I interpret it now as the horizon not being a limit, but an invitation.
[00:09:57]  And then we stopped.
[00:10:00]  We stopped.
[00:10:00]  I think we got bored.
[00:10:02]  We turned inward.
[00:10:03]  We got comfortable.
[00:10:05]  We forgot what it was all really about.
[00:10:08]  But tonight we remember again and add to it.
[00:10:13]  We take four human beings and we place them in a tin can, no larger than a very small room.
[00:10:20]  And we send them into the most hostile environment we know exists.
[00:10:26]  No emergency brakes, no pulling over, no easy way home.
[00:10:30]  If something goes wrong, you're there alone, four of you.
[00:10:36]  They're going to travel 250,000 miles to the moon, and then they're going to go 5,000 miles beyond that.
[00:10:43]  Then they're going to swing wide on the dark side, if you will, the far side of the moon.
[00:10:51]  Farther than any human has gone in generations, as they swing back at the moon, closer to the moon than we've ever been, and hope that everything holds, that every single calculation was right, that every person in this thousands and thousands of people team did their part right.
[00:11:14]  And if they did, they're just going to fall from the moon back to the earth.
[00:11:19]  They'll just fall back to earth in a controlled crash into the ocean.
[00:11:26]  That's remarkable.
[00:11:31]  But strip all of that stuff away.
[00:11:34]  What is it really about?
[00:11:38]  For those four people, because I've been thinking a lot about them recently, I'm really excited for this launch.
[00:11:43]  I'm a moon baby.
[00:11:45]  And I have to tell you, at least for them and the way I see it, what is this really all about?
[00:11:56]  Faith.
[00:11:58]  Faith in each other.
[00:12:01]  Faith that thousands of imperfect people working together can achieve something perfect enough to survive the void.
[00:12:13]  And for a few minutes and then the next 10 days, all of us get a share in that.
[00:12:20]  I don't care.
[00:12:20]  You don't have to understand the orbital mechanics.
[00:12:23]  You don't have to know the math.
[00:12:26]  You just have to look up and feel it.
[00:12:30]  Hope.
[00:12:34]  We're about to do amazing things tonight.
[00:12:40]  But this week, we are so blessed because there's another kind of hope.
[00:12:46]  A quieter hope.
[00:12:48]  One I think is much more dangerous in a way because it does not rely on anyone else.
[00:12:54]  It doesn't need a team of thousands.
[00:12:56]  It doesn't need fire or steel or countdown clocks.
[00:13:01]  It doesn't light up the sky.
[00:13:03]  It lights up something much, much harder to reach.
[00:13:10]  You.
[00:13:15]  Tonight's Passover.
[00:13:18]  And then it's Good Friday.
[00:13:19]  And then it's Easter.
[00:13:22]  This is the week that remembers the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
[00:13:31]  Artemis is a man's miracle.
[00:13:34]  God's miracle uses words like salvation.
[00:13:38]  I was thinking about that last night.
[00:13:40]  It seems like such an old-timey word.
[00:13:42]  You've got to repent and have salvation.
[00:13:46]  Warn.
[00:13:47]  Warn.
[00:13:49]  Words that don't sound like today because maybe they're just so rarely heard.
[00:13:55]  But if you strip salvation down, what does it actually mean?
[00:14:01]  Appropriately enough, salvation just means being rescued.
[00:14:08]  Not from space, not from the vacuum beyond our atmosphere, but rescued from yourself.
[00:14:20]  To be weightless from the weight you carry, from the mistakes you replay in your head over and over and over again, for the voice that tells you in your own head you've gone too far, you're too broken, it's too late, you're not worth it, you can't be rescued.

=== Hope Is The Guarantee (04:19) ===

[00:14:42]  That's despair.
[00:14:46]  And the hope is the guarantee.
[00:14:49]  That the rescue has already been offered, it's already completed, it's already paid for.
[00:14:57]  You didn't have to train for it.
[00:14:59]  You don't have to have special credentials.
[00:15:01]  There's no team needed, it's just a choice.
[00:15:10]  I know because I was.
[00:15:16]  I was a burning rocket on a launch pad that never got off by the time I was 30.
[00:15:23]  It burned everything up.
[00:15:27]  This choice is the hardest one you'll ever make to forgive yourself.
[00:15:34]  And I don't know why it's so hard because He has already.
[00:15:38]  God's not surprised.
[00:15:39]  It's not like, I can't face Him.
[00:15:42]  I got to tell Him.
[00:15:43]  He knows already.
[00:15:44]  He knows He's just waiting for you to say, I need help.
[00:15:49]  That's it.
[00:15:51]  It sounds so simple.
[00:15:55]  But it's true, you're the only one standing in the way of that kind of hope.
[00:16:02]  And this is your week.
[00:16:06]  Look for the signs in the heavens tonight, because a light will rise.
[00:16:14]  A rocket will rise and it will remind us that mankind, at its best, still can reach for the stars.
[00:16:25]  But I urge you not to miss the quieter truth of the week.
[00:16:32]  Long before we ever figured out how to leave this planet, hope came down to meet us.

=== Astronaut Delivers Speech (14:36) ===

[00:19:02]  Also, we have the astronaut.
[00:19:07]  Remember the astronaut that was trapped up in space and Biden wasn't sending anybody to help and he was trapped up there?
[00:19:14]  We're going to talk to him in a few minutes.
[00:19:15]  What is it like to be trapped in space?
[00:19:20]  Talk to him.
[00:19:21]  The four astronauts that are going up today on Artemis 2, you have Reed Wiseman, he's the commander.
[00:19:29]  This is the first mission to go back to the moon since Apollo.
[00:19:34]  10 day flight.
[00:19:36]  The first day they are going to go up and they're going to spend a day just circling the Earth, just to make sure everything works.
[00:19:43]  They're like, hey, flip that switch real quick, see if that works.
[00:19:47]  They want to make sure everything works before they actually hit the rockets again and go 255,000 miles.
[00:19:56]  I mean, you imagine being that far away from home?
[00:19:59]  That is, these guys are amazing.
[00:20:03]  The pilot tonight, he's a fighter pilot, a test pilot.
[00:20:07]  He's going to be controlling everything.
[00:20:09]  He's already lived in orbit aboard the ISS, the space station.
[00:20:14]  He has done spacewalks.
[00:20:15]  He is NASA's chief astronaut.
[00:20:17]  He also trained everybody else.
[00:20:21]  This one is not about experimentation.
[00:20:23]  This one is about execution.
[00:20:24]  Can we actually go back into deep space after all of these years?
[00:20:29]  Can we do it?
[00:20:31]  The pilot, the guy who's, I guess, going to be steering everything, is also a Navy fighter pilot, test pilot, one of the most respected operational astronauts in Space Corps.
[00:20:44]  He flew on SpaceX.
[00:20:45]  He was crew number one.
[00:20:47]  First operational commercial crew mission.
[00:20:51]  That alone puts him at a new category.
[00:20:54]  Here's a guy who's gone up into space, but not with NASA or any other country.
[00:20:59]  He's also the first black astronaut, which is not a footnote here.
[00:21:02]  That's a signal.
[00:21:04]  We're expanding into space and we're expanding everywhere.
[00:21:07]  I mean, I hate this DEI crap, but at least all of these people are really, really qualified.
[00:21:13]  I don't care what color you are, I don't care if you're male or female.
[00:21:16]  Are you qualified?
[00:21:18]  These guys are qualified.
[00:21:19]  Then you get to the woman on board.
[00:21:23]  That's Christina Koch.
[00:21:24]  She holds the record for the longest single space flight by a woman.
[00:21:29]  She was up in space for 328 days, nearly a year off the surface of the Earth.
[00:21:38]  She is somebody who has already passed the endurance test.
[00:21:43]  She has also done spacewalks.
[00:21:45]  She's lived through isolation in Antarctica.
[00:21:49]  Why would you ever want to do that?
[00:21:52]  Just a different kind of people, I guess.
[00:21:53]  She's going to be the first woman to travel to the moon.
[00:21:56]  So we have a first black man, first woman.
[00:21:58]  And our mission specialist is from Canada.
[00:22:07]  I'm torn on this one because, I mean, he's a Canadian.
[00:22:11]  He's a Royal Canadian Air Force fighter pilot, which he's never flown in space.
[00:22:19]  He represents the international backbone of Artemis, the partnership that makes the sustained return to the moon possible.
[00:22:25]  So, we're putting a Canadian on board because I guess they helped pay for it, or I don't know.
[00:22:31]  Personally, there are many other Canadians I wouldn't mind seeing shipped up into space.
[00:22:37]  I don't know this guy, so I hate to say, yeah, he could be ejected into space.
[00:22:42]  But, you know, so we got a Canadian on board, too.
[00:22:46]  I mean, everybody needs a mascot.
[00:22:48]  Oh my gosh, did I say that out loud?
[00:22:50]  That is just.
[00:22:52]  He's going to be the first non American to travel to the moon.
[00:22:56]  It's pretty remarkable.

[00:23:03]  Launch tonight is supposed to be at 6 24, unless there's any delays.
[00:23:10]  It's my understanding there might be.

[00:25:47]  Then at 9 p.m., he's giving what could be a ground shattering speech from the Oval Office.
[00:25:57]  He is giving an address.
[00:25:59]  Already, three prime ministers, or actually, two prime ministers and the head of the EU, have already prepared their people in pretty disturbing speeches.
[00:26:11]  We'll find out tonight at nine o'clock.
[00:26:14]  It must be really important for the president to speak, maybe.
[00:26:19]  Within an hour, up to three hours after Artemis launches, he's completely destroying the great PR, if you will, or just the hope that Artemis could give.
[00:26:32]  He's going to follow that.
[00:26:33]  You'll have about two hours to enjoy that light, and then something big is being announced tonight.
[00:26:40]  We'll see.
[00:26:41]  I wanted to, you know, because it is Easter week, and I just think there are so many things that are happening that are good, and we have to have faith to get through all of this.
[00:26:52]  I wanted to get Butch Wilmore on.
[00:26:55]  He is a retired NASA astronaut.
[00:26:57]  He was a Navy captain.
[00:27:00]  He has written a book called Stuck in Space.
[00:27:02]  Do you remember when Boeing sent up their Starliner?
[00:27:08]  And I remember as he was sitting on the pad and I'm getting ready to watch this thing launch, I'm like, this is the worst thing.
[00:27:14]  I would not get into a Boeing Starliner.
[00:27:16]  Because remember, it was all the problems that they were having.
[00:27:18]  And I'm like, Boeing, you are so screwed if this thing goes up and it can't get back.
[00:27:23]  God forbid.
[00:27:24]  And they were stuck in space forever.
[00:27:27]  And I think it was finally Elon Musk that went up and said, I'll go get him.
[00:27:32]  That must have been terrifying.
[00:27:34]  Butch is the guy who was the pilot at that time.
[00:27:37]  If he wasn't, was he the pilot or the captain, the commander?
[00:27:43]  I'm not sure.
[00:27:43]  But he was stuck up there, and it's his faith that got him through that.
[00:27:51]  And Butch is on with us now.
[00:27:52]  Butch, were you the pilot, the commander?
[00:27:55]  What position were you in?
[00:27:56]  I'm sorry.
[00:27:58]  Yeah, Glenn, no problem.
[00:27:59]  It's a blessing to be with you.

[00:28:02]  I was in the left seat.
[00:28:03]  Yeah, I was the one on the controls.
[00:28:04]  Yeah, that was my role.
[00:28:08]  And when that thing happened.
[00:28:11]  How bad was it?
[00:28:12]  I mean, now we can talk about it because everybody was like, oh, no, it's not so bad.
[00:28:15]  And I'm thinking, no, I think that's really bad.
[00:28:18]  What was going through your head when you start going wrong?
[00:28:22]  Yeah, in the moment, it was pretty serious.
[00:28:25]  I mean, we lost the ability to fully control the spacecraft in all six degrees of freedom.
[00:28:31]  One degree of freedom we lost completely, the other axes, the attitude and the translation, were compromised and were very, very challenging.
[00:28:39]  This is before we were docking, we were out in front of the space station.
[00:28:42]  And what was going through my mind?
[00:28:43]  There were three things.
[00:28:45]  We have to dock.
[00:28:48]  We did not have very many options at the time, not knowing why we're losing these thrusters.
[00:28:52]  We ultimately lost five of our eight aft firing thrusters.
[00:28:58]  And during that process, not knowing why they're dropping, we have to dock.
[00:29:02]  If we don't dock, because the control was very challenging, because I was manual control, I knew it would be very difficult to control the spacecraft and get it to a position where we could do a deorbit burn and return to Earth.
[00:29:16]  That's why the thought was we have to dock.
[00:29:18]  If we don't dock, I'm not sure what our options are.
[00:29:20]  And the third thing I thought this is a sick spacecraft.
[00:29:24]  If we are able to dock successfully, if we're able to get there, I don't think we'll be able to come back on this spacecraft.
[00:29:31]  Even then, I knew that because I understand what all goes into trying to bound a problem like this and understand it to where you would crawl back in and attempt to come back to Earth.
[00:29:40]  I know how difficult that would be, even in the moments of before docking.
[00:29:44]  So I knew that if we got docked, the chances were slim that we would return on Starliner.
[00:29:49]  Even in those moments, where is Starliner now?
[00:29:53]  Starliner, it did come back.
[00:29:55]  It did have some problems.
[00:29:56]  We should not have been on it.
[00:29:57]  There are many others that would say it was fine, but it was.
[00:30:00]  And we lost a pitch thruster.
[00:30:02]  So we would have been coming back into the atmosphere had we been on it.
[00:30:06]  Zero fault tolerance to maintaining our control of pitch control.
[00:30:09]  So we shouldn't have been on it.
[00:30:11]  And I'm glad we weren't.
[00:30:12]  Right.
[00:30:12]  But it did make it back successfully.
[00:30:16]  That one pitch thruster that remained, it did successfully.
[00:30:19]  It did operate successfully.
[00:30:21]  So it made it back.
[00:30:21]  And now they're refurbishing, going through the whole process of making sure that the thrusters are pristine, are workable, and trying to get back.
[00:30:30]  It'll be a cargo spacecraft initially, if and when it does fly again.
[00:30:34]  And then we'll see if they ever put people on it again.
[00:30:37]  So, you know, the reason why they put people like you, test pilots and people with vast experience, up into space and not people like me is because I would have been screaming, We're all going to die.
[00:30:47]  Was there a moment at all that you thought, We're not coming home?
[00:30:53]  Well, you mentioned it at the very beginning there, Glenn.
[00:30:56]  You said the faith.
[00:30:58]  Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior.
[00:31:01]  I have eternal hope.
[00:31:02]  There's nothing that can outdo or overshadow that.
[00:31:06]  So, in all situations, that brings comfort and contentment, regardless if you are facing death.
[00:31:12]  And did death go through my mind?
[00:31:14]  Absolutely, it did, because the control was so difficult.
[00:31:18]  And the fact that not knowing if we could.
[00:31:23]  Eventually, get back, or not get back, but get docked to station, not understanding that in the moment.
[00:31:29]  Surely that went through my mind.
[00:31:30]  But even in that, I mean, my sins are forgiven.
[00:31:34]  Jesus Christ paid the price for my sins on the cross.
[00:31:37]  He incurred the wrath of God for my sins on the cross.
[00:31:41]  And therefore, I mean, I believe that.
[00:31:43]  And He has transformed me, He has forgiven me.
[00:31:46]  And because of that, I have eternal hope in any situation.
[00:31:50]  Fear?
[00:31:50]  Yeah, was there fear?
[00:31:51]  I would say there's fear, but you've got to be able to manage that in these high stress situations because fear.
[00:31:57]  It's very detrimental.
[00:31:58]  You got to be able to focus because you have to perform.
[00:32:01]  And fear can be a detriment to that.
[00:32:04]  Did everybody, I mean, I don't want to get into personal stuff for everybody else, but did everybody have that same kind of faith?
[00:32:10]  Did you minister to anybody?
[00:32:15]  We had some discussions about that after we got docked to space station, yes.
[00:32:18]  But everybody's at a different place.
[00:32:20]  The Lord has prepared me for that moment over decades.
[00:32:23]  And that's what really, you know, Glenn, the book, Suck in Space, that you mentioned, I didn't publish the book to sell the book.
[00:32:30]  I published the book because of the message.
[00:32:32]  The message is hope in the now comes in Jesus Christ our Lord, and hope in eternity comes in Jesus Christ our Lord.
[00:32:39]  And you can handle situations in the now.
[00:32:42]  Because Christ has forgiven you of your sins.
[00:32:45]  And it's also a big, huge part about preparation, preparation, preparation.
[00:32:49]  And that's what the message of the book is.
[00:32:51]  You'll see life is tough.
[00:32:53]  And I said it many times life is tough and you've got to want it.
[00:32:56]  Those are two themes in the book.
[00:32:57]  And that is the message.
[00:32:59]  That's why I publish.
[00:33:00]  What does that mean?
[00:33:01]  What does that mean?
[00:33:02]  You've got to want it.
[00:33:04]  Whatever it is, endeavor that you're endeavoring to do, you've got to want it.
[00:33:08]  It takes commitment, complete commitment.
[00:33:10]  I'm glad you asked that question.
[00:33:12]  You got to be all in, committed, and that commitment breeds preparation because the preparation has to be there.
[00:33:18]  Because in many of our life endeavors, we have a great responsibility.
[00:33:22]  And when you're sitting in the commander's seat on the sixth first launch of a human rated spacecraft in the history of NASA, this was only the sixth Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Space Shuttle, Dragon, and then us, there's a great deal of responsibility.
[00:33:36]  And the preparation was immense.

=== High Risk Spacewalk Prep (06:33) ===

[00:33:38]  I mean, I would go into the simulator with our rendezvous officer on Saturday mornings at six o'clock, just the two of us, the only ones in the whole place, all of NASA.
[00:33:45]  Going in there and getting ready and running scenarios and doing different things.
[00:33:49]  We didn't imagine a scenario like this, but the preparation had to be there because the responsibility is so great.
[00:33:57]  And those types of life endeavors require that.
[00:33:59]  And that's, again, that's the message of the book.
[00:34:01]  It's in the book.
[00:34:05]  The guys getting in, I've thought about them.
[00:34:08]  I mean, they're going farther into space than man has ever gone before.
[00:34:11]  They're going to be closer to the moon without landing on it than we've ever been before.
[00:34:18]  And I think about all of the things that could go wrong.
[00:34:24]  What advice would you give?
[00:34:26]  I mean, they don't need it.
[00:34:27]  They've been up over and over and over again, but it must be.
[00:34:31]  I mean, when you're strapped into that seat and you've got all of that explosive power underneath you, and I always think of it, God forbid, I always think of it at go with throttle up.
[00:34:45]  What advice do you give to people going into space?
[00:34:50]  What should we be thinking or praying for?
[00:34:53]  Yeah, well, that's a great question.
[00:34:55]  These individuals are professionals.
[00:34:56]  I mean, I know them all well.
[00:34:58]  I did a spacewalk with Reed Wiseman back in 2014.
[00:35:01]  So we were outside the space station together doing a spacewalk.
[00:35:04]  So I know them well.
[00:35:05]  Victor Glover, it's hard to put into words.
[00:35:09]  I mean, you know, you're the only people in the whole universe doing that at the moment.
[00:35:12]  And the responsibility there, and you're in a one man space capsule shaped like a person out in the vacuum of space, it's just, and you see Hawaii go by at 17,500 miles an hour below you, it's just, It's thrilling.
[00:35:24]  And there's, again, responsibility because you're busy.
[00:35:27]  You got work to do.
[00:35:27]  You're not out there to sightsee, you're out there to perform tasks.
[00:35:30]  So, anyway, that's what that's like.
[00:35:32]  But anyway, these folks are professional.
[00:35:35]  They have done their preparation.
[00:35:37]  They are ready to go.
[00:35:38]  They're excited about going.
[00:35:39]  But if something goes wrong, that's why we train.
[00:35:42]  The ground teams, this is a huge team.
[00:35:43]  This isn't just them, it's the ground teams as well.
[00:35:46]  And honestly, the reason we docked successfully ultimately was maintaining control of the spacecraft in a very difficult situation.
[00:35:53]  But the ground teams coming up with a plan on the fly.
[00:35:56]  To get us safely docked.
[00:35:58]  And that's what we do at NASA.
[00:36:00]  We prepare, we hope, and plan for the pristine mission, knowing that things are going to go wrong.
[00:36:07]  This is high risk business that we're in.
[00:36:10]  And then we're ready to handle those situations when they occur.
[00:36:13]  And thus far, historically, we've been able to do that well.
[00:36:16]  We've had many, many situations that we have been able to rectify on the fly, real time.
[00:36:21]  And there's a couple, as we know, that we've had tragedy happen.
[00:36:26]  But regrettably, that's part of this business.
[00:36:28]  It can be as difficult as it is.
[00:36:31]  But we're obviously, you don't go until you think you're fully ready.
[00:36:34]  And I know the people, I know John Blevins, the chief engineer of the Space Launch System, the rocket, he's ready.
[00:36:40]  I've talked to him just yesterday.
[00:36:43]  And they are all prepared.
[00:36:44]  And if any small thing that they think could be a detriment to this mission happens prior to launch, they won't go.
[00:36:50]  And that's just the way we operate.
[00:36:52]  You were up there.
[00:36:54]  We had the capability of going and rescuing you, and politics, at least from this vantage point, seemed to play a role in that.
[00:37:01]  I don't know if that's true from your vantage point.
[00:37:03]  But when Elon Musk got involved, that must have been a good day.
[00:37:11]  Well, I would say it like this I don't know all those conversations.
[00:37:15]  I can't.
[00:37:15]  Speak to any of those things that happened from the political realms, as you mentioned.
[00:37:20]  But we were prepared in all aspects of spaceflight.
[00:37:24]  Sonny and I both had been space station commanders in the past.
[00:37:26]  We understood the space station.
[00:37:27]  That's one of the reasons we were selected for the position we were in because you just never know.
[00:37:31]  And when our stay was extended, we were fully, fully qualified and prepared to do every single function on the space station, including spacewalks, which we did.
[00:37:42]  And that was because we pushed some of it.
[00:37:43]  We certainly did.
[00:37:44]  It wasn't just the system.
[00:37:45]  We pushed and said we need to be ready because we just don't know.
[00:37:48]  But that's how we.
[00:37:50]  And that mantra, that's how we roll, right?
[00:37:53]  We prepare, prepare for all contingencies, and this one was one of them.
[00:37:56]  So when we got extended, there was no reason.
[00:37:59]  I wouldn't have sent somebody up to get me, honestly, Glenn, because we were trained and we had the experience.
[00:38:06]  We'd been there before, we understood space station operations, and I wouldn't have sent somebody up to get me either.
[00:38:12]  So could they have launched a rocket and spent hundreds of millions of dollars to do that, to come get us?
[00:38:17]  Probably could, but there was no need to do that.
[00:38:19]  Just work us into the normal flow, and that's how it played out.
[00:38:21]  So that's why we were there for almost 10 months.
[00:38:24]  And, you know, it's a small price to pay when you're, because to serve your country, especially in this fashion, is a privilege.
[00:38:30]  I know that's what all the four astronauts on board Artemis right now view it.
[00:38:33]  That's the way they view it.
[00:38:34]  It's a privilege to be in the position they're in, and they're honored to serve in that fashion.
[00:38:38]  So, so were we.
[00:38:40]  I got to believe, you know, I talked to Buzz Aldrin.
[00:38:43]  It was my dad's, I think, 70th birthday, and I arranged lunch with the two of us and Buzz Aldrin.
[00:38:51]  And it was kind of a sad meeting because, you know, he's never really moved past.
[00:38:56]  The walking on the moon, and he said it was devastating to come back to Earth and knowing you're never going back up here.
[00:39:05]  I mean, and you're in your 20s and you've just done the greatest thing any man has ever done on Earth.
[00:39:10]  And so, in some ways, it must have been kind of nice.
[00:39:13]  Wow, I get to stay up here for an extra year.
[00:39:16]  In some ways, but now that you're out of it, does that play a role in you at all?
[00:39:24]  Of I'm not going back up because it's a very small club and really super cool.
[00:39:31]  I tell you, it is a small club.
[00:39:33]  It is really super cool, but we're all, you know, when I read scripture, Glenn, I see that my purpose in existing is for my Lord's glory, and it ultimately is my good.
[00:39:43]  And that's my focus.
[00:39:45]  I have a greater hope, a much greater hope than space flight could ever bring.
[00:39:49]  And that's eternal hope with Jesus Christ, my Lord.
[00:39:52]  And that's what drives me, and that's my focus.
[00:39:54]  Yeah, I will not be down.
[00:39:56]  464 days in space is plenty for me and for anyone.
[00:40:00]  But would I like to go to the moon?
[00:40:02]  Sure.

[00:51:22]  Number two, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait.

[00:51:28]  You'll have to start learning how to fight for yourself.
[00:51:30]  The USA won't be there to help you anymore, just like you weren't there for us.
[00:51:34]  Iran has been essentially decimated.
[00:51:37]  The hard part is done.

[00:51:55]  Now tonight he gives his speech at nine o'clock.
[00:51:58]  We don't know what it is.
[00:51:59]  However, We do know that it has something to do with Iran and the rest of the world because already.
[00:52:10]  The Prime Minister of England, the Prime Minister of Australia, and the head of the EU have all given a speech.
[00:52:20]  The Prime Minister of England said, We now know that getting out of the EU is really wrong.
[00:52:24]  We all have to band together.
[00:52:26]  They are preparing, I think, for some sort of a.
[00:52:30]  America's not going to defend us.
[00:52:31]  Good.
[00:52:36]  Grow up and protect yourself.
[00:52:38]  Now, the problem is they're not going to have all the money that they.
[00:52:41]  You know, they still don't have for all of their social programs.
[00:52:44]  So they're going to go into real tailspin if that happens.
[00:52:48]  But hey, that's they're big boys now.
[00:52:51]  You know, you have to deal with your own problems.
[00:52:54]  They're also saying that this is, I mean, Stormer actually, or Starmer actually used the language of this is going to be extraordinarily hard and difficult on a coming energy crisis.
[00:53:07]  So we don't know what's going to happen.
[00:53:10]  But I've been thinking about this for the last few days.
[00:53:15]  Because I thought about wartime generals.
[00:53:18]  And I think Trump is a wartime president.
[00:53:23]  So, what does a wartime general do?
[00:53:28]  It's not a personality thing or just in tone or whatever.
[00:53:31]  It is a cut from a completely different cloth kind of thing.
[00:53:36]  A wartime general operates under the central assumption that we are already in danger.
[00:53:45]  Just make this checklist in your head as I go through this.
[00:53:47]  Is he a wartime president?
[00:53:50]  Does President Trump believe the republic is already in danger?
[00:53:55]  Not hypothetically, right now, we are in danger.
[00:54:01]  If he does, that assumption changes everything.
[00:54:06]  I believe he thinks we are in danger on multiple fronts, not just Iran, you know, with the nukes, but the Islamists, the Twelvers, Islam taking over Western Europe, the Marxists, the Socialists, the Anarchists, the EDU.
[00:54:20]  Big money foundations of Soros, corrupt press, big tech, the court systems, the CIA, DOJ, the corruption, the cartels, the illegals, the crime, war on faith, war on the family.
[00:54:33]  I mean, he thinks we, and we are, we are at war with all of those things.
[00:54:39]  So if he believes that, then that changes a few things.
[00:54:43]  First, now listen to these characteristics that change if you're a wartime general.
[00:54:47]  First one is clarity over consensus.
[00:54:50]  A wartime general does not wait for polling to confirm reality.
[00:54:55]  He acts on what is, not what is popular.
[00:55:00]  Does that not sound like Donald Trump?
[00:55:03]  Speed over process.
[00:55:06]  In war, delay kills.
[00:55:09]  Bureaucracy is not neutral, it's lethal in war.
[00:55:15]  He also believes, or a wartime general also believes, outcomes over optics.
[00:55:20]  Victory matters more than how it looks on cable news.
[00:55:24]  Does that not explain how he's operating right now in this war?
[00:55:29]  It's almost as if he doesn't care about the optics.
[00:55:31]  He's like, this has to be done.
[00:55:35]  The other one is enemy identification.
[00:55:38]  A wartime general names the threat plainly.
[00:55:42]  It's foreign, it's domestic, whatever it is.
[00:55:46]  And they do not soften the language to preserve comfort.
[00:55:50]  Ronald Reagan did this just on this as an evil empire.
[00:55:53]  Donald Trump does that with all of it.
[00:55:55]  Whatever he sees, remember his list of we're at war and we are.
[00:56:00]  We're at war.
[00:56:01]  This is a civilizational war, it is an existential threat.
[00:56:06]  It's gone if we don't pay attention.
[00:56:10]  A wartime general also has tolerance for disruption because they know war rearranges systems.
[00:56:17]  Stability is not the goal, survival is.
[00:56:20]  And the last characteristic that changes is moral framing.
[00:56:26]  Things stop being so gray, some things have to be opposed directly and decisively.
[00:56:32]  Does that not define who Donald Trump is?
[00:56:38]  Because I think it does.
[00:56:41]  I think it does.
[00:56:43]  A peacetime is, and see if this doesn't sound like Barack Obama, consensus over clarity, process over speed, optics over outcomes, reluctance to name enemies, preference for stability, moral ambiguity.
[00:57:00]  Okay, now I started looking into this a couple of days ago because I was going to write a monologue that was about we have a wartime president and a peacetime GOP.
[00:57:16]  Because that's what's happening in Congress.
[00:57:18]  They're peacetime GOP.
[00:57:20]  They think that everything's going to be fine.
[00:57:23]  And they're acting as if we're in peace while he's saying we're at war.
[00:57:26]  And you know it.
[00:57:28]  A good portion of this country knows we're at war for our very lives and civilization.
[00:57:35]  But everybody's acting like it's peacetime.
[00:57:38]  Okay.
[00:57:41]  I'm not going there.
[00:57:44]  Because that's not the biggest problem.
[00:57:50]  As I was thinking about it, I thought, okay, has this ever happened in history before?
[00:57:53]  And the first thing that came to mind was, yeah, Churchill.
[00:57:56]  Churchill was a wartime leader.
[00:58:00]  And he was preaching about Hitler long before anybody wanted to hear it.
[00:58:05]  I mean, 1938, they didn't even want to hear it.
[00:58:07]  They didn't really want to hear that from him until 1940.
[00:58:11]  Churchill was not the leader.
[00:58:13]  In fact, they kicked him out.
[00:58:15]  His own party rejected him.
[00:58:17]  And Britain was led by Neville Chamberlain, who was a peacetime leader.
[00:58:23]  Okay.
[00:58:24]  He believed that war could be avoided.
[00:58:27]  He trusted the negotiation agreements.
[00:58:30]  And he was a reflection of the exhausted public from the last war.
[00:58:36]  Does any of this sound familiar?
[00:58:38]  England was exhausted and did not want to go in because they were exhausted by World War I.
[00:58:42]  They didn't want to do it again.
[00:58:44]  They said, look what happened.
[00:58:46]  So when Churchill started to say war, nobody wanted to go.
[00:58:53]  So Neville Chamberlain was sent over to meet with.
[00:59:00]  Hitler.
[00:59:01]  And they came up with a Munich agreement and peace was preserved.
[00:59:04]  There would be peace in our time.
[00:59:06]  Okay.
[00:59:06]  This is Obama and Biden dealing with Iran.
[00:59:11]  Churchill, however, saw something different.
[00:59:13]  He said Hitler was not a negotiator in the normal sense.
[00:59:18]  This guy is not negotiating.
[00:59:20]  He is using our fear of the fight and he's flattering us and saying enough things right to delay our entrance into the war.
[00:59:29]  In Europe, he is going to use this delay.
[00:59:33]  Does that not sound also like Iran?
[00:59:37]  The delay was not neutral.
[00:59:39]  Churchill knew it strengthened Germany.
[00:59:42]  The war was not coming someday, it was already underway in spirit and intent.
[00:59:47]  And I don't care what podcasters tell you, you don't have to believe me.

[01:02:24]  It's a misalignment between the leadership's perception of the threat and the public's willingness to accept the cost of that.
[01:02:35]  I mean, Donald Trump just gave a press conference yesterday where he said, where the reporter said, it's $4 a gallon of gas.
[01:02:40]  And he said, yes, and there's no nuclear threat.
[01:02:42]  And they said, but it's $4 a gallon of gas.
[01:02:44]  Yes, and you're not going to be vaporized.
[01:02:46]  That's the disconnect.
[01:02:48]  He's looking at it as this was a threat.
[01:02:51]  I have to take care of that.
[01:02:53]  First, this gap always happens the same way.
[01:02:58]  It produces four predictable effects.
[01:03:00]  First, the trust begins to fracture.
[01:03:05]  The public begins to think this is exaggerated.
[01:03:08]  This didn't happen.
[01:03:09]  We're being dragged into something.
[01:03:11]  Sound familiar?
[01:03:12]  His own base is saying this right now.
[01:03:15]  Meanwhile, the leadership is thinking you don't understand the stakes.
[01:03:20]  Both sides lose confidence in the other.
[01:03:23]  Very dangerous.
[01:03:25]  The second thing that happens is political isolation of the leader.
[01:03:29]  Even if the leader is right about the threat, the institutions resist, right?
[01:03:35]  You see that happening?
[01:03:36]  Allies are hesitating.
[01:03:37]  Hello?
[01:03:39]  Media fragments all of the narrative.
[01:03:42]  This is exactly what happened to Churchill prior to 1940.
[01:03:46]  He was an alarmist, he was reckless, he was out of his mind, he was dangerous.
[01:03:51]  Third thing that happens delayed mobilization.
[01:03:54]  Because a peacetime public does not sacrifice easily.
[01:03:58]  They do not accept shortages.
[01:04:01]  They do not tolerate casualties.
[01:04:03]  They don't want to reorient their daily life.
[01:04:06]  So the nation responds too slowly, and in war, time is not.
[01:04:12]  Neutral.
[01:04:14]  The fourth thing that always happens is eventually reality shocks and it forces the alignment.
[01:04:23]  If you can get all the players still in the same place, there's an attack, there's an economic collapse, there's visible escalation.
[01:04:31]  In Britain, it took the bombing of London, it took the Blitz.
[01:04:34]  In the U.S. during World War II, it took an attack on Pearl Harbor.
[01:04:38]  We have been here before.
[01:04:39]  This is exactly what happened with Pearl Harbor.
[01:04:41]  And nobody wanted to go to war in World War II, nobody wanted to fight the Germans.
[01:04:46]  Until something that shock happens, large parts of the public resist the wartime frame.
[01:04:52]  That's why the Green Red Alliance is not blowing buildings up yet.
[01:04:59]  They don't want that shock to happen because that brings us all together.
[01:05:05]  Now, here's the part people forget about Churchill Churchill was a Nobel Prize winning laureate.
[01:05:15]  I mean, he was a beautiful writer.
[01:05:18]  He did something that very few can do.
[01:05:22]  He translated reality into the language the public could eventually accept.
[01:05:27]  Remember, he was the guy who said, We shall fight on the beaches.
[01:05:30]  It's our finest hour.
[01:05:31]  He didn't just describe the war.
[01:05:34]  He brought the public into it psychologically, morally, emotionally.
[01:05:40]  And that's the second half of wartime leadership.

[01:08:40]  We were at a war that the government was trying just to destroy our economy.
[01:08:44]  They were trying to destroy our jobs, our schools.
[01:08:50]  They were.
[01:08:50]  aligning themselves with our enemies.
[01:08:53]  They were part of this WEF.
[01:08:57]  The court system was out of control.
[01:09:00]  The DOJ was out of control.
[01:09:02]  We felt we were at war.
[01:09:04]  And so we hired a guy who had that view.
[01:09:08]  And so we got him in, but he also said, I don't believe in wars.
[01:09:12]  I don't want these long drawn out wars.
[01:09:14]  Okay, good.
[01:09:15]  We're on same page.
[01:09:17]  Now he gets in and we all of a sudden, trusted this guy with everything.
[01:09:23]  He has not betrayed us at any time.
[01:09:26]  In my view, he has not betrayed us.
[01:09:28]  He has only done what he said he was going to do.
[01:09:31]  But he comes in and he looks at the analysis of everything.
[01:09:34]  And in every step for every day he has been in office, he has done remarkable things like a warrior, not a regular president, not a peacetime general, like a wartime president.

[01:09:52]  We're doing it right now.
[01:09:54]  You don't want to do it that way?

[01:09:55]  I'll do it myself.
[01:09:57]  He is taking bold, unbelievably bold, agree or disagree, unbelievably bold steps as a wartime president.
[01:10:07]  So he sees what's happening over in Iran.
[01:10:10]  Iran is the one that is supplying all of the drones for Russia up in Ukraine.
[01:10:16]  They're also building all these drones to hide and protect their nuclear missile program.
[01:10:22]  They, 12er Shia, see, Shia 12ers.
[01:10:26]  Are crazy.
[01:10:29]  We all have agreed for 47 years they cannot have a nuke.
[01:10:33]  What Donald Trump saw was they are protecting that.
[01:10:37]  They are delaying.
[01:10:38]  They're building.
[01:10:39]  They're continuing to build.
[01:10:40]  And they're building now all of these drones, which we'll never be able to get through.
[01:10:45]  If we don't take them out now, we won't be able to take them out.
[01:10:49]  And they can't ever have a nuke.
[01:10:52]  So, like a wartime president or wartime general, he says, Move forward.
[01:10:58]  It's the right thing to do to hell with the consequences and what people think.
[01:11:02]  This is the right thing.
[01:11:03]  That's what you hired him to do.
[01:11:08]  I'm not questioning him.
[01:11:09]  I am worried.
[01:11:12]  I am fearful because I don't have all of the information.
[01:11:15]  I don't know what's happening.
[01:11:16]  You don't either.
[01:11:17]  Nobody does.
[01:11:19]  And so I'm worried.
[01:11:22]  But this guy has earned enough trust with me to go, he is a wartime general.
[01:11:26]  He is not stupid.
[01:11:27]  I don't care what anybody says.
[01:11:29]  This guy is a freaking genius with vision that I have not seen in any president in my lifetime.
[01:11:35]  And you like it or not, he's the president.
[01:11:39]  I'm going to trust him.
[01:11:41]  I'm going to trust him enough to go, okay, he's seeing stuff that I don't have the privilege or the responsibility to see.
[01:11:49]  I'm going to give him rope.
[01:11:51]  So he's doing things now as a wartime president would do.
[01:11:55]  Now, what happens?
[01:11:57]  Because we are not a wartime people.
[01:11:59]  You might have thought we're at war with the economy.
[01:12:02]  We're at war with jobs.
[01:12:03]  We're at war with schools.
[01:12:04]  Well, he fixed those things.
[01:12:05]  And how come he's not fixing the economy faster?
[01:12:08]  And why is he paying attention to other things?
[01:12:10]  Because it's all connected.
[01:12:11]  It's all connected.
[01:12:13]  And here's where we have a real problem.
[01:12:18]  We have a real problem.
[01:12:19]  There's a danger zone, okay?
[01:12:22]  If you don't have a wartime president and a peacetime public, and there's no successful translation between them, it's unstable.
[01:12:34]  The leader is going to be rejected before the public understands the threat.
[01:12:38]  That's a real possibility right now.
[01:12:41]  The public is shocked into alignment, maybe too late, and the country fractures internally while facing an external danger.
[01:12:49]  We're at risk on that.
[01:12:51]  Okay, that's the risk window.
[01:12:53]  The hard question here is not, is Donald Trump the right leader?
[01:13:00]  Because history, you don't know that until you look back.
[01:13:05]  It's unclear in the moment, every time.
[01:13:08]  The real question is can this leader bring the public to understand reality before reality imposes itself and possibly too late?
[01:13:19]  Churchill eventually did, but only after.
[01:13:22]  The bomb started falling only after Germans were like, We're gonna take England, and the bomb started to fall.
[01:13:28]  That's when people were willing to go, Churchill, help us.
[01:13:31]  Okay, the through line here is that a wartime president without a wartime public is absolutely unstable, a wartime public without a wartime leader is vulnerable.
[01:13:46]  But when the two align, that's when nations endure things they couldn't otherwise survive.
[01:13:53]  That's the Churchill lesson.
[01:13:56]  Not that he was right, but that the timing and his communication and the public alignment determined whether being right actually mattered.
[01:14:06]  It doesn't matter if Donald Trump is right if we reject it and then we find out later.
[01:14:12]  It doesn't matter if, you know, we had another president who was peacetime and we were all around him going, yeah, and then we're hit by something.
[01:14:23]  Doesn't matter.
[01:14:25]  We got to get this one right.
[01:14:27]  And if you know the patterns, you can look for them and you can go, wait a minute, wait a minute.
[01:14:31]  Am I just being swept up in the patterns of history?
[01:14:36]  And that doesn't mean you have to agree or disagree with what's happening.
[01:14:41]  It just means be aware of it.
[01:14:43]  So you're not just a domino that falls when somebody just pushes you.
[01:14:49]  Stand where you want to stand with reason to stand there and the knowledge of what standing there has meant historically, because we have been here before.
[01:15:00]  FDR was not a wartime president until we had Pearl Harbor.
[01:15:07]  But in 1938, 39, he started doing things to prepare.
[01:15:11]  This president is preparing.
[01:15:13]  What do you think he's doing with Europe?
[01:15:15]  He knows Europe is on its last leg, and we cannot be a part of that.
[01:15:22]  We can't afford to put all of our troops, all of our money, and everything else over in Europe if they won't wake up themselves.
[01:15:28]  They are going to be lost.
[01:15:32]  Get out while you can.
[01:15:35]  He's preparing them.
[01:15:36]  That's what he did yesterday with that tweet.
[01:15:38]  He is preparing them.
[01:15:40]  Look, get your own oil.

[01:18:23]  Those are going to be Islamic countries with our nukes.
[01:18:28]  We got to get our nukes out of those areas where they're going to fall to Islamists.
[01:18:34]  Otherwise, those are going to be nuclear armed Islamist countries.

[01:30:52]  So, can I start with just space for a second?
[01:30:55]  Yesterday, I had a lot of people push back and say, Glenn, space is a waste of money and it's our Tower of Babel trying to make ourselves look so great.
[01:31:07]  I don't look at it that way.
[01:31:09]  I look at it from the view of an explorer and I believe God wants us to explore.
[01:31:14]  How do you feel about that?
[01:31:15]  Yeah, He made us curious.
[01:31:18]  I mean, we're unique amongst all.
[01:31:20]  Life on planet Earth, and that we're curious about everything.
[01:31:24]  I mean, my dog doesn't care about the galaxies around us, but we do.
[01:31:28]  Right.
[01:31:28]  We want to know what's beyond the universe.
[01:31:31]  So I think God gave us a curiosity for a reason.
[01:31:35]  He really does want us to explore.
[01:31:37]  But I think He also wants us to do it in the most efficient and effective way possible.
[01:31:44]  So a lot of people, and maybe you can help on this, a lot of people say we never even went to the moon the first time.
[01:31:51]  I find that in.
[01:31:52]  Amazing, but people actually believe it and they say, you know, it's because this radiation belt, we can't get through the radiation belt and all this stuff.
[01:32:00]  Did we go to the moon?
[01:32:02]  And does it matter?
[01:32:03]  Yeah, I actually got to watch the moon landing live on television when I was much younger.
[01:32:09]  And what really thrilled me was watching Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong putting up a laser reflector.
[01:32:17]  There's now three laser reflectors on the moon.
[01:32:20]  Physicists beam laser beams off them every single day.
[01:32:24]  Hence, because of those laser reflectors that the Apollo astronauts put on the moon, they were able to test theories of gravity.
[01:32:32]  To a degree, we've never been able to do before.
[01:32:35]  So, somebody put those laser reflectors there.
[01:32:41]  Well, probably aliens.
[01:32:42]  I'm just saying.
[01:32:45]  It really is very frustrating because there is evidence like the laser reflectors.
[01:32:52]  For example, even the vehicles left behind by the astronauts are still there and they're being photographed on a regular basis.
[01:33:02]  So, We're going out on Artemis today, and this is to prove that we can live in space.
[01:33:12]  It is to totally change the economy and the way we explore and go to Mars, etc., etc.
[01:33:23]  Yet we still have, we're making such advances, and yet we have not explored inner space nearly enough.
[01:33:30]  And we are fighting over things like we never went to the moon in the first place.
[01:33:35]  And when I look at the thing about, you know, we never went to the moon, it's the same kind of argument, just with a lot more distance to it, that there was no flood.
[01:33:47]  And your book, Noah's Flood Revisited, you are saying you can prove this, that there was a flood?
[01:33:58]  Well, the Bible tells us that the flood lasted 375 days.
[01:34:04]  You know, liquid water flows out of the ocean fairly quickly.
[01:34:07]  There had to be a lot of melting ice and snow for the flood to last that long.
[01:34:13]  And during the previous ice age, there were seven really big melt events.
[01:34:18]  So I think one of those melt events explains why the flood lasted that long.
[01:34:24]  But it also puts the flood early enough in human history that the flood can wipe out the entire world of humanity and all their animals without being global.
[01:34:34]  And that's the number one reason why people reject the biblical account.
[01:34:38]  They think it's speaking about a global flood.
[01:34:41]  Rather, it's speaking about a worldwide flood.
[01:34:44]  The world of humanity was wiped out.
[01:34:46]  But if you have the event early enough, the world of humanity is a local region.
[01:34:52]  I mean, there weren't humans in North and South America until 16,500 years ago.
[01:34:58]  And likewise, Australia wasn't settled until 40,000 to 50,000 years ago.
[01:35:04]  The big major melt events are 47,000 to 85,000 years ago.
[01:35:09]  So, I make the argument.
[01:35:10]  In fact, I waited to bring the book out until we really had solid data confirming the events of Genesis 10 and 11.
[01:35:19]  And if you can nail down the dates for that, you've got a good idea of the date for Noah's flood.
[01:35:25]  How did you nail down the dates?
[01:35:27]  Well, Genesis 10 and 11 speak about the great scatterings of humanity.
[01:35:33]  I mean, Genesis 11, we see that humanity is repeating the mistake of what happened before the flood.
[01:35:40]  They were staying in one region, disobeying God's command to multiply and fill the earth.
[01:35:46]  And they even built a city in a huge tower so they would not be scattered over the face of the earth.
[01:35:53]  And God knew that was a prescription for runaway evil.
[01:35:57]  His plan all along was there would be multiple nations that would have to compete with one another for citizens, which would act as a check against a government oppressing its citizens.
[01:36:08]  You know, if one nation oppresses too much, they get up and leave and go to another nation.
[01:36:13]  And so God forcibly scattered humanity over the face of the earth.
[01:36:17]  And now we've got four methods that enable us to give accurate dates for when those happened the remains of humans, their artifacts, evidence for when they were cooking, because humans can't survive.
[01:36:32]  unless they're cooking and preparing their food, and then the genetic models, and they all come in with consistent dates from when those events happened.
[01:36:44]  So I don't know, I've talked to rabbis before, and in the oral tradition, the Tower of Babel, there's different facets of God, if you will.
[01:37:00]  There's the angry, vengeful God, there is the kind, merciful God, and The one that shows up at the Tower of Babel and scatters is not the angry God.
[01:37:10]  It is the merciful God, knowing that if they can do this, they can do anything.
[01:37:15]  So he is having mercy on us by scattering people and changing their language.
[01:37:21]  Is that the same view of Noah, that it's actually a mercy mission?
[01:37:29]  Absolutely, because humans before the flood had the potential to live past 900 years.
[01:37:37]  And it tells us that Adam and Eve had many sons and daughters besides Cain, Abel, and Seth.
[01:37:44]  I mean, at a minimum, they were having 120 children, and all the rest of the couples likewise.
[01:37:51]  So when God told Adam, multiply and fill the earth, he could have done it in his own lifespan.
[01:37:57]  What stopped that from happening is what we see in Genesis 4.
[01:38:01]  Murder began to run out of control.
[01:38:04]  And so I've calculated in my book, Navigating Genesis, that the murder rate in the days before the flood.
[01:38:11]  For those above 90%.
[01:38:13]  In other words, at least 9 out of 10 people died as a result of being murdered by their fellow man.
[01:38:20]  Humanity was literally in danger of self extermination.
[01:38:24]  So God stepped in and prevented humanity from wiping itself out.
[01:38:31]  I have a guest on, I think on Friday, who has done extensive scientific work with some of the best scientific minds, not all believers, on the evidence of.
[01:38:43]  Jesus, his life, his death, and his resurrection.
[01:38:45]  That's coming up on Friday's show.
[01:38:47]  And you've kind of done this, I mean, really throughout the Bible, not just Noah.
[01:38:51]  I mean, you have used science to show the book of Genesis is true.
[01:38:56]  It is the best scientific explanation, if you look at it this way, of what is true about life and the way we were created and everything else.
[01:39:07]  Is there something happening, Hugh, that the Lord, that we are, we are, Moving more rapidly towards being able to prove things that we've never been able to prove before?
[01:39:23]  Well, what thrills me as a research scientist is that the more we learn about science, the more and more evidence we gain that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God.
[01:39:34]  So, for example, you have Genesis 1 describing 10 different events of creation, tells us what the chronological order is, gives us details.
[01:39:45]  The book of Job tells us.
[01:39:47]  Puts in more details as does Psalm 104 and Proverbs 8.
[01:39:52]  But what I've noticed is that it tells us that on day four, you have the atmosphere going from a thick haze to being transparent.
[01:40:04]  And just back in 2018, a team of physicists did an experiment where they took a huge flask, filled it with the known constituents of Earth's atmosphere, and then began with no oxygen.
[01:40:18]  Then gradually increase the oxygen.
[01:40:21]  And when the oxygen hit 8%, the atmosphere in the flask cleared.
[01:40:26]  You could see through it.
[01:40:29]  And likewise, when you have the oxygen in the atmosphere going up to 8%, That's the moment we have large animals appearing on the face of the earth.
[01:40:38]  Those animals need to see the sun, moon, and stars in the sky in order to regulate their biological clocks.
[01:40:46]  So that's just one example of how a scientific experiment gave us more evidence that the Bible got everything right.
[01:40:53]  Because you and I did a, I mean, we probably spent 90 minutes together and we did a podcast.
[01:40:58]  And it was one of the most fascinating podcasts I've ever done.
[01:41:01]  And you made the case that it's not just that it's Right scientifically.
[01:41:08]  It is right.
[01:41:09]  It's in the right order.
[01:41:11]  If you don't have these things in the right order scientifically, it can't happen.
[01:41:18]  Yes.
[01:41:19]  It's not just that the descriptions are correct, everything is in the correct chronological sequence.
[01:41:25]  Now, I do get pushback from my atheist peers who say, wait a minute.
[01:41:31]  If you look at it from the perspective of God up in the heavens, everything is in the wrong order.
[01:41:36]  I say, yeah, but that's not the frame of reference.
[01:41:40]  Genesis 1 2 tells us that the Spirit of God is hovering over the surface of the waters of the primordial earth, below the clouds, not above the clouds.
[01:41:51]  And from that frame of reference, the ten events of creation are all in the correct chronological sequence.

=== Biblical Chronological Sequence (04:15) ===

[01:41:58]  I saw that at age 17.
[01:42:00]  That was my first clue that this book, the Bible, was different from all the other holy books, that it got all the science right.
[01:42:08]  And that's what motivated me to say I've got to read through the rest of the book.
[01:42:12]  It took me 18 months to get to Revelation 22, but when I got there, I realized every time the Bible speaks about something scientific, it gets the science right, and often it does so thousands of years ahead of scientists making the actual discoveries.
[01:42:32]  Is there anything that you feel compelled that people must know?
[01:42:38]  Well, I think what really impressed me as a young astrophysics student was the Bible actually predicted.
[01:42:44]  For the fundamental features of what we call a Big Bang creation model.
[01:42:49]  And not until the 20th century did any astronomer have a clue that the universe had those characteristics.
[01:42:57]  And it's not just me reading this into the Bible with my 21st century hindsight.
[01:43:03]  Jewish theologians writing 800, 900, 1,000 years ago saw the Bible making these statements about the universe and they declared the universe must have these features.
[01:43:15]  The 20th century, we discovered that indeed.
[01:43:18]  The universe has a beginning, a space time beginning, with laws of physics that don't change, where the universe expands from a cosmic creation event and gets progressively colder.
[01:43:30]  All that was in the Old Testament.
[01:43:35]  Let me just take 10 seconds.
[01:43:37]  Station ID.
[01:43:37]  Stations, I'm going to move the commercial.
[01:43:39]  I don't want to stop here.
[01:43:40]  Give me 10 seconds.
[01:43:41]  Station ID.
[01:43:52]  Hugh, he's an astrophysicist, Reasons to Believe founder, senior scholar, author of the book Noah's Flood Revisited.
[01:44:01]  Hugh, a lot of people are looking at the world today and they're looking for signs.
[01:44:09]  I haven't looked up what that one comet that is supposedly shooting towards the sun and then coming around, and maybe we can see it this, if it survives the sun, we can see a trail a million or tail a million miles long, something like that.
[01:44:25]  Do you know anything about that comment and did it make it through the sun?
[01:44:29]  I don't know, but I've seen some really spectacular.
[01:44:33]  Comets in my lifetime.
[01:44:35]  I remember seeing one in my graduate school days.
[01:44:39]  It was as big as the moon in the sky and the tail went back 40 degrees.
[01:44:43]  So, yeah, if it survives, maybe we'll get a really spectacular sight.
[01:44:49]  So, people are saying that look for signs, look for signs, because there is this feeling, even in Islam, that we're headed for something biblical.
[01:45:01]  Do you feel that?
[01:45:03]  Are there signs that we should be looking for?
[01:45:08]  In the heavens?
[01:45:09]  Yeah, Jesus told his disciples that he would return the moment that his followers take the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to all the people groups of the world and make a significant number of disciples amongst all those people groups.
[01:45:27]  So I'm not waiting for the Lord to return.
[01:45:30]  I'm waiting for his people to finish the task that he assigned to them.
[01:45:35]  And I had Ralph Winter, the founder of the U.S. Center for World Mission, In my Sunday class for a number of years, and he wrote a book making the point that Christians today have the wealth, the technology, and the people to complete that commission that Jesus gave us in just one decade.
[01:45:55]  All we lack is the motivation.
[01:45:57]  So, my passion is to try to motivate people let's get the job done because, hey, this universe is a wonderful place, but God has promised to take us to a new creation where it's unbelievably more rewarding and fulfilling.

[01:49:03]  So we're going to find out tonight.

[01:49:08]  I remember the first real memory of a t-shirt.
[01:49:14]  You know, you ever have a t-shirt when you were a kid and you were like, that was my favorite t-shirt?
[01:49:19]  The first real memory of a t-shirt was my Apollo 11 t-shirt.
[01:49:23]  I had to be maybe, no, six, seven, six.
[01:49:29]  And I wish I had that t-shirt now.

[01:49:54]  So we're allowed to land at NASA and I'm going to be there for the launch tonight.
[01:49:59]  I just can't wait.
[01:50:01]  And then we're flying right back home afterwards and I'll be here tomorrow.
[01:50:08]  So there's the good and the bad.

=== Decisions Made On Wednesday (08:51) ===

[01:50:13]  But there's the good and the bad, the things that are going on that are just so horrible, and then other things that are so good.
[01:50:18]  And I keep being pulled to good.
[01:50:23]  And I have always spent time on Good Friday telling you this is an important day, an important weekend of Easter.
[01:50:35]  It changed my life.
[01:50:37]  But every day I have come in and I've been reading my scriptures every day about what's happening on this day.
[01:50:44]  2,000 years ago.
[01:50:47]  What was happening?
[01:50:49]  On Sunday, we know it was Palm Sunday.
[01:50:51]  He comes in on a donkey, and that is a miracle because it is the fulfillment of prophecy.
[01:50:58]  And then you see him weeping over Jerusalem, signaling Jerusalem's going to be destroyed.
[01:51:08]  And Monday, he went in.
[01:51:10]  If this was in real time, and I was a journalist back then, I say, you know, there's some trouble at the temple.
[01:51:16]  On Monday, this guy's causing all kinds of problems.
[01:51:19]  He was at the temple.
[01:51:19]  He drove out the money changers from the temple.
[01:51:22]  And then he healed a blind guy and a lame guy.
[01:51:28]  And if I were a broadcaster at the time, I would give you perspective and say it's interesting.
[01:51:34]  He cleans, he gives judgment, cleans it out, and then he immediately shows mercy and he heals.
[01:51:42]  Yesterday, this guy was talking about some fig tree.
[01:51:47]  And he was teaching and confronting people again and the fig tree, and then he withers this fig tree.
[01:52:00]  He curses this fig tree.
[01:52:04]  And by yesterday, it was completely withered.
[01:52:10]  He says it has something to do with our religion, meaning nothing.
[01:52:15]  But today is going to be a pretty quiet day.
[01:52:18]  The end of the day, I would back in those days broadcast to you that nothing really happened to day, but something probably happened that was really, really important.
[01:52:31]  To day is the day.
[01:52:33]  Most likely, that Judas made up his mind.
[01:52:42]  It's a couple of days.
[01:52:43]  It's a Wednesday.
[01:52:45]  Jerusalem has pilgrims everywhere.
[01:52:47]  Street is louder than usual.
[01:52:51]  Everybody is having a conversation about what this means this week.
[01:52:59]  People can feel something coming, even if they can't name it.
[01:53:02]  And right in the middle of it all, the story goes quiet.
[01:53:06]  Jesus has been arguing in the temple, but now he's withdrawn and he's deliberate.
[01:53:12]  He's still.
[01:53:15]  Judas is doing something.
[01:53:19]  At the same time, in rooms that most people will never see, the religious authorities are finalizing what they have been moving toward the end, quietly, before the crowd can react.
[01:53:31]  And Judas comes in and he doesn't stumble into betrayal.
[01:53:34]  He walks right into it.
[01:53:36]  He seeks them out.
[01:53:37]  He names his price 30 pieces of silver.
[01:53:39]  It's a transaction.
[01:53:40]  A signature without ink.
[01:53:42]  And just like that, the outcome is set.
[01:53:47]  There's no cross yet.
[01:53:51]  There's no denial.
[01:53:53]  But it's already done.
[01:53:55]  And that's the part we miss.
[01:53:57]  It was already done today.
[01:54:00]  It's just the spectacle that's left the arrest, the trial.
[01:54:04]  Tomorrow will be the Last Supper.
[01:54:07]  He'll wash the feet of Judas.
[01:54:13]  But the decisive moment doesn't happen under the lights.
[01:54:16]  It happens quietly in the dark because that's the way it always works.
[01:54:22]  And that's what I want to talk to you about.
[01:54:24]  The moments that define us is almost never the moment that you see coming.
[01:54:31]  And when it does, there's no time to become somebody new.
[01:54:36]  You don't rise to the occasion.
[01:54:38]  You, an old saying, you don't rise to the occasion, you fall to the level of your preparation.
[01:54:47]  That's today.
[01:54:50]  Everyone is making a decision.
[01:54:52]  Today, Wednesday, it was done.
[01:54:57]  The authorities chose power over truth.
[01:55:02]  Judas chose silver over loyalty.
[01:55:05]  And Jesus chose his path he knew he would already walk.
[01:55:10]  There is no hesitation in him when the moment comes because the decision wasn't made in the garden.
[01:55:15]  It had been made long before, and that's the through line for all of us.
[01:55:21]  Two days before Passover, back then, today is Passover, it begins tonight.
[01:55:25]  But back then, two days before Passover, it's not about what happened publicly, it's what was settled privately.
[01:55:32]  Because by the time the crisis arrives, by the time the torches are lit, by the time the crowd is shouting, there is no debate left, there's none, only revelation.
[01:55:44]  And that's not just their story back then, that's our story.
[01:55:49]  Every single day feels ordinary, right?
[01:55:54]  It's just another day.
[01:55:56]  But it's not.
[01:55:57]  It's not.
[01:55:59]  Today is a rehearsal.
[01:56:02]  Today is the day that you have to decide, what do I actually believe in?
[01:56:09]  What am I willing to lose?
[01:56:12]  Where is my line?
[01:56:13]  Is there something that could happen where I say, no more, no more?
[01:56:17]  I don't care what the cost is, no more.
[01:56:20]  Because if you don't decide now, when you're calm, when you're quiet, when it's unnoticed, you will decide it later when you're afraid, when you're rushed, when you're under pressure.
[01:56:32]  And that version of you is not going to be your best self.
[01:56:36]  It will be your default.
[01:56:39]  It's that moment of hesitation.
[01:56:40]  I said this last week.
[01:56:41]  It's that moment of when somebody asks you, and you know it's not right.
[01:56:45]  And they're like, hey, you want to come out and go do whatever?
[01:56:47]  And you're like, ah.
[01:56:50]  That when you're saying, ah, that's when somebody was like, come on.
[01:56:55]  Okay.
[01:56:57]  It's too late to make the decision when you're going, ah.
[01:57:02]  Two days before Passover, the world had no idea what was coming, but the outcome had already been chosen.
[01:57:13]  It had been chosen in the quiet when no one was watching, where it always, always happens.
[01:57:22]  I don't know what's coming tonight.
[01:57:24]  Hopefully, we are going to see a liftoff that will help us believe in the greatness of what we can do again.
[01:57:36]  Followed by possibly the president telling us good news or really bad news.
[01:57:41]  I don't know.
[01:57:46]  I don't know what tomorrow brings.
[01:57:49]  I don't have a great feeling about all of it.
[01:57:54]  But I know he's in charge.
[01:57:57]  And I know I don't want to get lost.
[01:58:02]  And so while we're here on this Wednesday, this all important Wednesday, look for the patterns.
[01:58:09]  This is the day the decisions were made.
[01:58:13]  And it was quiet.
[01:58:16]  Today, make the decision on who you are, what you believe, what you're willing to stand for, what's worth living for, who you really are when times get tough.
[01:58:32]  Because that's what all the prime ministers are telling their people.
[01:58:35]  Times that are coming are going to be very, very tough.
[01:58:37]  It's going to be hard to get through.
[01:58:39]  I don't know if that's the message our president's going to give, but that's the message I'm giving you.
[01:58:45]  It's going to be tough.
[01:58:46]  But you know what?
[01:58:46]  It's going to be glorious in the end.
[01:58:49]  You think going to space is easy?
[01:58:51]  It's impossible.
[01:58:53]  But watch tonight.
[01:58:55]  It's going to be glorious.
[01:58:57]  And that's what man can do.

[02:02:58]  So either they don't, either there are parts that they're so discombobulated they don't even know who's talking to who or what.
[02:03:06]  But we also know that, again, just a couple of hours ago, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that Iran no longer poses an existential threat to Israel.
[02:03:17]  So the signs seem to be pointing towards.
[02:03:20]  A winding down.
[02:03:21]  If they agreed to open the Straits of Hormuz, I just saw this also, Glenn.
[02:03:25]  This is from the Wall Street Journal's Alex Ward.
[02:03:28]  He said that Trump has raised with Rubio and top aides the possibility of withdrawing from NATO if allies don't help reopen the Straits of Hormuz.
[02:03:37]  That's a second big clue, I guess, because this could be a test.
[02:03:42]  This could be if they decide to open the Straits of Hormuz and maybe turn over security of it to an outside force.
[02:03:48]  It's possible the Trump administration has been in contact with.
[02:03:52]  The UK, other European nations, on them stepping up their military commitments to doing that.
[02:04:00]  And that would have preempted them coming out and saying, this is going to be a long road.
[02:04:04]  Get ready for changes.
[02:04:06]  Tea leaves kind of show that.
[02:04:08]  I mean, if those tea leaves turn out to be the actual tea, that is a reason to celebrate.
