[00:05:53]  Ah, you know, the drill slipped and I lost control and it came back and it just sliced my head, you know, straight across the forehead.
[00:06:04]  And he said, I had to get, you know, I don't remember what it was, 25, 35 stitches.
[00:06:10]  And I said, should you be here now?
[00:06:15]  And he said, oh, no, it's fine.
[00:06:18]  I said, did the doctor say it was okay for you to come back to work?
[00:06:22]  He said, doctor, I didn't go to the doctor.
[00:06:26]  I said, I thought you got 35 stitches.
[00:06:28]  He said, I just went to the vet.
[00:06:30]  Vets can do it.
[00:06:31]  I'm like, Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.
[00:06:36]  I don't know where we are.
[00:06:38]  I just went to the vet.
[00:06:40]  Ah, he can stitch me up.
[00:06:41]  Okay, okay.
[00:06:43]  Well, I'm going to go into the house now and try to make sense of my whole life and where I'm at.

[00:06:58]  And there's a lot going on.
[00:06:59]  There is an awful lot going on.
[00:07:00]  I don't even know where to begin.
[00:07:02]  You know what?
[00:07:02]  Let's start here.
[00:07:03]  Let's start with, let's look into our stockings and see what Santa has put into our stockings because we've been good little boys and girls.
[00:07:14]  Listen to this.
[00:07:16]  What about Democrats on Democrats?
[00:07:18]  Democrats' net approval rating of congressional Democrats.
[00:07:20]  I want you to keep in mind, they had never rated Democrats negatively until this year.
[00:07:26]  And right now, what are we talking about?
[00:07:28]  We're talking about a net approval rating from Democrats.
[00:07:31]  This is Democrats on Democrats.
[00:07:32]  Their approval rating is actually lower, lower than the disapproval rating.
[00:07:36]  And that is quite the drop from October.
[00:07:38]  I think during the shutdown, there was a bit of a boost for Democrats, right?
[00:07:42]  There was a rallying around the flag effect going on.
[00:07:44]  But Democrats did not like how that shutdown turned out.
[00:07:47]  They have returned against Democrats in Congress.
[00:07:50]  And you mentioned Dan Goldman in that intro.
[00:07:52]  One of the reasons that Dan Goldman is in trouble right now in a potential primary against Brad Ladner is because at this point, the Democratic base is so upset with Democrats.
[00:08:04]  Do you see that?
[00:08:05]  Kids, look at your stocking.
[00:08:06]  Go in and pull that back out.
[00:08:09]  They've never rated Democrats negatively.
[00:08:12]  Democrats on Democrats.
[00:08:15]  Now negative six points.
[00:08:18]  Mighty unpopular, boys and girls.
[00:08:21]  And that might be something worth just enjoying over the holiday season.
[00:08:26]  That maybe, maybe no matter how badly we screw things up, they're doing a worse job.
[00:08:33]  And so maybe there is hope, Virginia, that, yes, we might have a good midterm.
[00:08:40]  Might.
[00:08:40]  We're a long way away from that.
[00:08:42]  Do you have any idea, Stu, looking at the polls, how bad the Republicans are doing?
[00:08:45]  And if it's worse than six points, negative six points, just don't tell me.
[00:08:50]  I don't know the exact number.
[00:08:52]  I feel like we've been minus 80 on the Republicans forever.
[00:08:57]  But I was like to see the Democrats join our side on not liking our own politicians.
[00:09:03]  But I don't know that exact number.
[00:09:05]  I will say that you look at the you could find information, I think, on both sides to see optimism in November and also some real pessimism.
[00:09:16]  Of course, you're just going from an uphill starting point.
[00:09:19]  I was looking at some of these markets and it's like, I think, 75% chance for the Democrats to retake the House in November.
[00:09:30]  Turn his mic off.
[00:09:30]  No, it just reflects history.
[00:09:32]  It doesn't reflect anything else.
[00:09:34]  It's really not a negative sentiment for me.
[00:09:37]  That reflects history, right?
[00:09:38]  When you have a Republican president, like typically Democrats take the House in the first election, same thing the opposite way.
[00:09:44]  So I think that's just reflecting generalized history.
[00:09:47]  Lots of work to be done still.
[00:09:49]  You know, what he just said gives you really no information.
[00:09:53]  Thank you.
[00:09:54]  Because they were up 22 points.
[00:09:55]  They were up 22 points.
[00:09:57]  And now they're down six.
[00:09:58]  He said they were up because there was a rallying around the flag, but they didn't like the way that worked out.
[00:10:03]  So do the people who are now, the Democrats who are now saying they're useless, is it because they're not socialist and grinchy enough?
[00:10:13]  Or are people saying, you know what, they just don't make any sense anymore?
[00:10:17]  Because that's the way I would interpret it, but I'm not a Democrat, so I don't know.
[00:10:20]  Yeah, I think it's the opposite.
[00:10:21]  It's the Democrats thinking.
[00:10:22]  I think you're right.
[00:10:23]  I think it's them, the Democrats, generally speaking, feeling like they took this big step, this big risk, right, to go out there and shut the government down and got nothing out of it.
[00:10:33]  So I think that is our side sucks.
[00:10:36]  Our side's not doing enough.
[00:10:37]  I think that's what the sentiment is.
[00:10:39]  And again, when you see a number like that from plus 22 to minus 6, it's almost hard to take it seriously, right?
[00:10:45]  Like, what do they do in one month that would go from a plus 22 to a minus 6?
[00:10:50]  It's more emotional.
[00:10:52]  DJ, turn his mic off, please.
[00:10:53]  No, I mean, minus 6 might be the more real thing is what I'm saying.
[00:10:57]  I don't think they were plus 22 on the shut.
[00:11:00]  They were in that moment.
[00:11:01]  They had a little bit of a sugar high because they were like, yeah, we're taking Trump on.
[00:11:06]  And when they realize when you take Trump on in these situations, he's going to slap you down and you get zilch out of it.
[00:11:12]  That's the other side.
[00:11:13]  But here's the good news.
[00:11:14]  If you're a Democrat, here's the good news for you.
[00:11:16]  Santa is going to put something in your stocking.
[00:11:19]  It's called the GOP.
[00:11:20]  And the GOP is going to give you everything you wanted in that shutdown.
[00:11:25]  But they're just going to do it during Christmas time.
[00:11:28]  And so no one will, they think no one will notice.
[00:11:31]  We will.

[00:11:36]  Let me talk to you a little bit about what happened at TPUSA yesterday.
[00:11:39]  By the way, we're going to get to the Brown University shooting because that thing is, that's a mess.
[00:11:42]  We'll talk about that in a second.
[00:11:44]  The TPUSA, yesterday, they started their biggest event, what it was called, Freedom Fest, the biggest one they've ever done.
[00:11:55]  It is packed.
[00:11:56]  Tucker was there yesterday.
[00:11:57]  Ben Shapiro was there in a steel cage match, face-to-face, going at it, head-to-head.
[00:12:03]  And they both gave speeches.
[00:12:05]  And Ben was very, very clear on things.
[00:12:09]  Tucker, his speech yesterday, pretty much said there's not a civil war going on.
[00:12:16]  I think there is a civil war going on, and I don't like it, but there is a civil war going on.
[00:12:22]  And Ben was very, very, I think, very clear.
[00:12:26]  He pointed out that, you know, we have to stand for the truth.
[00:12:30]  We have to show the facts and we have to have solutions.
[00:12:35]  And I tend to agree with him.
[00:12:37]  Now, my speech is on Sunday.
[00:12:38]  I'm flying out tomorrow to Arizona to be there.
[00:12:42]  I'm going to speak before Erica and JD Vance on Sunday.
[00:12:47]  I have a few things to say.
[00:12:48]  I have an opinion on the whole Candace Tucker, Ben Shapiro, Megan Kelly thing.
[00:12:52]  And I'm going to put it all together and hopefully put it to rest on Sunday, at least in my head.
[00:12:57]  I mean, it might not be, might not be good for everybody else, but I'm going to say it.
[00:13:02]  So, and I'm bringing a surprise guest with me.
[00:13:05]  I cannot wait until this individual walks on stage with me.
[00:13:11]  I think everybody's going to love it.

[00:13:15]  Yes, I defrosted Walt Disney, who, surprisingly enough, I didn't know, was laying right next to Ronald Reagan.

[00:13:25]  Now, there was also another Christmas miracle that happened, I thought, and Erica talked about it.

[00:25:37]  Please have snow and mistletoe and presents round the tree.
[00:25:52]  So police have identified the shooter at Brown University and the shooter and the murderer of the MIT professor.
[00:26:03]  He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
[00:26:09]  We know something about him, but we don't know any motive.
[00:26:12]  He was 48 years old.
[00:26:14]  He was a Portuguese national.
[00:26:17]  And apparently, there was somebody, you know, I mean, this guy is really, really brave.
[00:26:23]  They cracked the case because there was somebody that posted up on Reddit that you should investigate this rented gray Nissan with Florida plates.
[00:26:36]  And apparently he was in Providence and somebody noticed this guy kind of just being weird and dressed inappropriately for the weather.
[00:26:48]  And so he was acting weird and he's like, what are you doing here?
[00:26:54]  And the guy's like, you know, the shooter is like, why are you hassling me?
[00:26:59]  So he kind of backed off, but he watched him.
[00:27:02]  And what happened was he went to his car and then circled his car and then I guess went around the block for a while.
[00:27:08]  And that's when the guy went, what are you doing?
[00:27:11]  Why are you here?
[00:27:13]  And so instead of calling cops, he didn't, you know, he didn't know necessarily, just thought that was really weird, talked about it on Reddit.
[00:27:21]  And when he spoke about it on Reddit, I don't know how that was flagged, but it was flagged and the FBI saw it.
[00:27:28]  And they started checking out this Nissan.
[00:27:32]  And that's how they tracked him.
[00:27:34]  And they found him in some storage unit that he had rented.
[00:27:41]  And he had already switched plates.
[00:27:44]  I mean, the guy was really good at what he was doing, but it was well, well thought out.
[00:27:51]  Yeah, going back to November, he was checking into area hotels and stuff.
[00:27:55]  This is something he had on his mind, I guess, a very, very long time.
[00:27:59]  You usually see this as someone who was either going to the school or maybe had previously had a bad incident over the past year.
[00:28:04]  Right.
[00:28:05]  He returns to the school to get revenge or whatever.
[00:28:07]  This guy's 48.
[00:28:09]  You know, he's talking that the, he's also involved in the MIT professor murder.
[00:28:18]  Yeah, they went they went to school together, right?
[00:28:20]  In Brown?
[00:28:20]  Yeah, they went to school together all these years ago.
[00:28:24]  You know, so who knows?
[00:28:26]  Man, people are, this is a dark world.
[00:28:29]  I don't know.
[00:28:29]  So many people have lost connection to anything, any sort of foundation of positivity in their lives, I feel like at this point.
[00:28:37]  That's a scary place to be.
[00:28:38]  I mean, to me, indicates potential for severe mental illness.
[00:28:41]  Who knows?
[00:28:43]  But doesn't seem to be like a political motive per se.
[00:28:46]  Also could be a guy, because he went to school between 95 and 2000, I think in Portugal.
[00:28:54]  He studied physics at the Instituto Superior Tecnico.
[00:29:00]  I mean, what kind of education you get in a school name of something dumb like that, you know?
[00:29:05]  The white supremacist supreme right in the name of the school.
[00:29:09]  Yet another white supremacist from Portugal.
[00:29:12]  Right.
[00:29:12]  Right.
[00:29:13]  So he went to school in Lisbon for four or five years.
[00:29:16]  Then he came to Brown.
[00:29:18]  And so he was, you know, there for a while.
[00:29:21]  That's where he studied with the professor.
[00:29:23]  That's why apparently he shot up.
[00:29:25]  That was one of his classrooms.
[00:29:28]  And I'm wondering if, because nowhere in the story does it say what he did for a living.
[00:29:33]  And so I'm wondering if here's a guy who went to school for 20 years and then had no job, sees one of his classmates that, you know, you're not that great who's working now at MIT.
[00:29:47]  He's pissed at the school because he didn't get his way.
[00:29:50]  I mean, just complete, this is complete conjecture with absolutely nothing to base it on.
[00:29:56]  And then, you know, so kills his former classmate who, you know, was always, always thought he was smarter than me.
[00:30:02]  I mean, this is how I would write the movie.
[00:30:04]  And I would, you know, and then he went back in because he's just going to, I mean, he's going to show Brown, you know, they wreck my life and I don't have a job.
[00:30:13]  Could be.
[00:30:14]  I mean, he might have had a good job, but it's not in the story anywhere.
[00:30:17]  Have you seen it anywhere?
[00:30:18]  I haven't seen it anywhere, but as you're doing that, it reminds me, this makes me think of the torch and everything coming that you're going to be doing next year in that this is your brain.
[00:30:28]  This is how you think when you come up with a scenario.
[00:30:31]  There's like 15 fictional movies that come into your brain that you want to piece it all together.
[00:30:38]  And now with all the stuff that you're building at the torch, like that stuff's going to be doable for you.
[00:30:42]  I don't know how long that's going to take.
[00:30:43]  It's going to take a while.
[00:30:44]  But building these stories from scratch and some of them that connect to history and some of that, I mean, I think it's going to be really an interesting story.
[00:30:50]  I'm not going to be telling stories like that.
[00:30:52]  I'm not going to be, you know, I'm not going to be making up stories on, okay, conspiracy theorists.
[00:30:58]  This is what happened.
[00:30:59]  I mean, I just made that one up off the top of my head.
[00:31:02]  I know, but I'm not saying that was one of your best ideas, but I will say, what I will say is that, I mean, you're a best-selling fiction author, right?
[00:31:12]  I mean, this is not, you know, I mean, yes, you do history and yes, you do a lot of different things, but you also have written great stories about how, You know, the world that we live in and the things that are going on, the real developments in real life, the real groups that exist, the real ways things are put together can come together in a story that illustrates the point, but is really entertaining.
[00:31:37]  And being able to kind of take that to a new level, I think it's going to be really fascinating.
[00:31:41]  So, this guy, think how prepared this guy was.
[00:31:45]  He used a phone and he had altered it or something where it masks his location.
[00:31:50]  He got credit cards not under his name.
[00:31:54]  He was really good at hiding his tracks.
[00:31:58]  And, you know, when they said he, some students remember, they said he screamed out a la Akbar.
[00:32:05]  Apparently, now people are saying, I think he was barking.
[00:32:10]  Well, they don't sound the same.
[00:32:12]  I mean, I've never heard my dog and turn around and went, did you just say a la Akbar?
[00:32:17]  Our dog is in Hamas.
[00:32:19]  Right.
[00:32:20]  I mean, and if, you know, if you're barking, that might be a sign of the guy was completely out of his mind.
[00:32:30]  The other thing I find interesting, Stu, speaking of stories, again, I'm just making up this story.
[00:32:36]  This is not please.
[00:32:37]  I told you.
[00:32:38]  If you're a jury, if you're a future jury member, forget I ever said any of this because this is just me, you know, thinking out loud.
[00:32:46]  But what's interesting to me is how many of these people are they go and do something and then they kill themselves.
[00:32:56]  Why?
[00:32:58]  Why are they doing that?
[00:33:00]  Why do they kill themselves?
[00:33:02]  Remember, it used to be a thing killed by cops, you know, suicide by dogs.
[00:33:06]  Right.
[00:33:08]  That's not happening.
[00:33:10]  Now people go out and they do these horrible things and then they turn the gun, boom, on themselves.
[00:33:14]  Let me just give you a couple of scenarios, see if any of these sound familiar.
[00:33:19]  You saw Steve Dace's movie, Nefarious?
[00:33:23]  Yeah, it came out, what, two years ago?
[00:33:25]  Two years ago, maybe.
[00:33:26]  Yeah.
[00:33:27]  Okay, so in Nefarious, Satan has possessed this guy.
[00:33:32]  And once in a while, Satan lets him come out and the guy's like, help me, help me, please, help me, help me, help me.
[00:33:37]  He's trapped, you know, in there.
[00:33:39]  And then Satan takes control of him again.
[00:33:41]  And what happens?
[00:33:42]  If you haven't seen the movie, I'm going to wreck it.
[00:33:45]  He kills himself.
[00:33:46]  Okay.
[00:33:46]  He kills himself.
[00:33:50]  Let me take you to Batman.
[00:33:54]  Remember, Joker has control of all of these people.
[00:33:57]  They're all sick.
[00:33:58]  They're all sick.
[00:33:59]  And he's convinced them to do different things, all the way from robbing the bank in the opening scene.
[00:34:04]  And then when that bus goes through the front doors and they've got all the money, they load it all in.
[00:34:10]  And then Joker just shoots all of them because he's done with them.
[00:34:12]  He's just using them.
[00:34:14]  He's done with them.
[00:34:15]  Also, I talked to a guy who had jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge.
[00:34:19]  I don't know if you remember this.
[00:34:21]  He was on the air and he had this fascinating story and he was bipolar and he heard voices.
[00:34:27]  And he was standing on the bridge, he told me, and he said, all I heard in my head was, jump, you got to jump, jump, jump, kill yourself, kill yourself.
[00:34:37]  You got to jump.
[00:34:38]  He said, he got, climbed over the fence.
[00:34:41]  And the moment he let go, the voices stopped.
[00:34:45]  And he's falling.
[00:34:46]  And he's like, what have I done?
[00:34:46]  What have I done?
[00:34:49]  Okay.
[00:34:51]  I'm so fascinated by how evil is playing itself, playing all of its cards right now.
[00:34:56]  And because I think, unlike any time before in my lifetime, you can see this is evil.
[00:35:03]  There is a force that seems to be sweeping the entire world.
[00:35:08]  All of these people do these horrendous things and then they shoot themselves.
[00:35:14]  And I'm just, it just, I don't know.
[00:35:19]  It's almost as if evil is playing with these people, getting them to do all of this horrible, horrible stuff.
[00:35:28]  And then when they expect their fame, their fortune, their reward, or whatever, kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself.
[00:35:36]  Boom, they kill themselves because they're just a meat puppet of evil.
[00:35:41]  And they're of no use to evil.
[00:35:43]  They've done their job.
[00:35:45]  You're not getting anything.
[00:35:46]  I'm going to destroy you too.
[00:35:51]  Does that make sense at all?
[00:35:52]  You know what I'm saying?
[00:35:53]  I just want to point out that you were calling me a Debbie Downer earlier in the program.
[00:35:57]  And just want to make sure people understand.
[00:36:03]  I see what you're saying.
[00:36:04]  I think sometimes it's interesting because that kind of ties into the way sometimes I think about it.
[00:36:08]  Because I think I think the best movies about evil often show some sort of human side.
[00:36:18]  Like it's easy to create a character who's just like non-stop robot for despair, right?
[00:36:25]  And in reality, I think even the worst people, most of the worst people that we've ever seen have had plenty of moments where they didn't think that way about themselves or hung out with their families and had good times and all these different real regular life things.
[00:36:43]  And I always picture the person in this scenario being hyper-focused on doing this horrible thing and thinking of it almost like a task.
[00:36:53]  Like you, you know, I want to build a deck, right?
[00:36:55]  They're out there just trying to figure out the steps to do it and they're maniacal and that focus on getting that thing done.
[00:37:01]  And at some point after it's done, do they have that human moment where they realize, oh my God, I'm a monster.
[00:37:07]  What have I done?
[00:37:07]  Yeah.
[00:37:08]  I'm a monster.
[00:37:10]  I have done this terrible thing.
[00:37:11]  Like I was so focused on achieving this thing that I didn't stop to think about what was actually happening.
[00:37:18]  And in that moment, what do you do?
[00:37:19]  Right.
[00:37:20]  Yeah, you can go out there and surrender and live the rest of your life in torture about the thing you've done or you kill yourself.
[00:37:27]  I think that might be where they get sometimes.
[00:37:29]  And I think that kind of we're kind of saying the same thing.
[00:37:33]  You're expressing it more in human terms.
[00:37:34]  But it's like if you've ever had a goal of doing something, you're like, this is going to make me happy.
[00:37:42]  This is going to make me happy.
[00:37:44]  I'm going to score with this girl and I'm going to be happy.
[00:37:47]  I'm going to get that promotion and then I'm going to be happy.
[00:37:50]  And then you're not happy.
[00:37:52]  It's kind of like that.
[00:37:53]  I'm going to build this deck.
[00:37:55]  I'm going to kill these guys.
[00:37:56]  I'm going to build this deck and that's going to make me happy.
[00:37:59]  And once I do that, I'm going to be, my life is going to be wonderful.
[00:38:03]  And then you do, and you're like, that's not it.
[00:38:06]  What have I done?
[00:38:07]  Yeah.
[00:38:08]  I mean, it's an interesting, I'd love it.
[00:38:10]  Maybe next year, because this is going to be around for a while, maybe we can talk to some psychiatrist or psychologist that can kind of explain why that's happening, what is happening, and how, because there are a lot of sick people, a lot of people who have been twisted by the lies saying, you know, you'll never make it or in the other direction, twisted by the lies that you can't do it.
[00:38:40]  You need this to make you happy.
[00:38:43]  And that's an absolute lie.
[00:38:45]  And I think, I wonder how much of that is being is played into all of this.
[00:38:50]  By the way, I'm going to talk a little bit more about this in hour number three of the podcast today, this kind of feeling and what's going on and the difference.
[00:39:00]  Donald Trump yesterday was made fun of because he did the Patriot Games thing.
[00:39:05]  And people are making fun of it and blah, But I think there's something very, very important that he understands or that He looks at, and mainly maybe because of his age and how he grew up.
[00:39:23]  You know, boomers, my kids are always like, okay, boomer, yeah, I know, everything's going to be great.
[00:39:29]  Well, it is, and I'll explain why and what the younger group can learn from the older group.

[00:41:57]  They brought somebody in.
[00:41:58]  They gave him description of the clothing, yada, yada.
[00:42:01]  Authorities said they didn't know of Valente's name until Wednesday.
[00:42:05]  That's when this thing heated up.
[00:42:07]  This is the line, last line in the story that stuck out to me.
[00:42:10]  As soon as you have a name, authorities said, I believe you can find anyone quickly in this country.
[00:42:20]  Okay.
[00:42:21]  All right.
[00:42:23]  The reason why they couldn't find him is credit cards not under his name.
[00:42:28]  Nothing was used under his name.
[00:42:31]  As soon as they had his name, they could find him.

[00:47:57]  This has just torn me apart in so many ways, and you have to put it all back together and kind of make sense of all of it.
[00:48:05]  And I think I'm close to doing that.
[00:48:08]  But as you now have holidays where some of the kids are not there, because they don't have to be.
[00:48:25]  They have other priorities, whatever.
[00:48:29]  You pine for the days when we're all together and you were thinking when you were in bed, you were thinking, oh, don't come in.
[00:48:37]  No one's allowed to come into the room until 8 o'clock.
[00:48:40]  See, that's an 8.
[00:48:41]  When that little hand is on the 8 and that little hand is on the 12, then you can come into the bedroom and wake up mom and dad.
[00:48:48]  And nobody goes downstairs until we go downstairs first and plug in the trees.
[00:48:54]  You just try to get through those days at times because you're so tired, but you pine for those.
[00:49:08]  The most empty, I don't know if I can tell you the best Christmas.
[00:49:15]  Yeah, I think it happened actually during COVID, but the best Christmas, it's hard because there's a few of them.
[00:49:22]  The worst Christmas I can tell you right now is I remember I was broke, dead broke.
[00:49:31]  Stu, he was like 18 years old and he's living in an apartment.
[00:49:36]  He's got a nicer apartment than I did.
[00:49:38]  We lived in the same complex.
[00:49:39]  I was like 35 or 40 and I just, it was completely broke.
[00:49:44]  He was like a king in a palace compared to me.
[00:49:48]  And I remember this Christmas so broke and I was with my daughter and we were in a CVS and she was there by the cash register and there was this little ornament of, I don't remember if it was, you know, Herbie the elf or Rudolph, but it was from Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer and it was a little teeny tree ornament.
[00:50:10]  And she's like, oh, that is so nice.
[00:50:12]  She was little, little, little.
[00:50:13]  And I thought, oh.
[00:50:15]  And I just, she didn't see me, but it just broke my heart because all I could think of is, I can't even afford that.
[00:50:22]  I'm such a loser as a dad.
[00:50:26]  That was not my worst Christmas.
[00:50:28]  My worst Christmas was the first time I had real success and I decided I'm going to buy everything I ever have ever wanted for my kids.
[00:50:38]  And literally the boxes were almost up to my waist.
[00:50:43]  I mean, I had all the kids and all the present and everything you could possibly want.
[00:50:48]  And it was so empty.
[00:50:51]  That was my worst Christmas.
[00:50:53]  And my kids never talk about that Christmas.
[00:50:56]  Never.
[00:50:59]  There's something that happens, especially to men, I think, that we come at this time of year and we feel like a failure if we can't afford things.
[00:51:10]  And this feeling shows up and most of us as guys, we don't talk about it because we don't want to talk about these feelings.
[00:51:18]  And I think we should because I think we all feel the same way at times.
[00:51:24]  And when the house is quiet and the lights are all out and you're staring at numbers that just don't add up and you're wondering, how am I going to explain to my kids why things aren't underneath the tree?
[00:51:44]  Because why you want to give that.
[00:51:47]  That's the way you show love, perhaps.
[00:51:51]  And you want to give that.
[00:51:53]  And part of it is because it's the things you didn't have growing up and you knew how you might have felt.
[00:52:00]  And so that fear says, I'm a failure.
[00:52:03]  I'm coming up short as a dad.
[00:52:06]  Not because you don't love them, not because you didn't try, but because you tried, you do love them, and it didn't happen.
[00:52:15]  And the world is expensive and pride is heavy.
[00:52:21]  And Christmas or birthdays now just has a price tag on everything.
[00:52:28]  But there are moments that were never meant to be bought ever.
[00:52:32]  Somewhere along the line, we let that lie creep in and we bought into it.
[00:52:37]  The lie that says, what I give is what you're worth.
[00:52:45]  That lie is absolute poison and it's absolutely not true.
[00:52:50]  Because if it were true, then the men who built this country and that had to raise their own barns, the one-room houses, if that's true, then all of those guys were failures and they weren't failures.
[00:53:06]  If it were true, then dads who come home with empty hands after a lost job, but a full heart after a hard day, are somehow less than, and they're not.
[00:53:18]  They're better than.
[00:53:22]  And so are you.
[00:53:27]  You think that your kids are counting boxes.
[00:53:31]  And quite honestly, teenage years, they might be.
[00:53:35]  They might be.
[00:53:36]  But they grow out of those.
[00:53:38]  You just put up with the teenage years.
[00:53:40]  They're coming.
[00:53:41]  They suck.
[00:53:42]  They go away.
[00:53:44]  They're not counting boxes.
[00:53:46]  They're not looking at labels.

[00:53:48]  Here's what I believe they remember.
[00:53:52]  You.
[00:53:54]  They're counting on you, not for the, I grew up in a house that we would consider poor today.
[00:54:04]  I didn't think of us as poor.
[00:54:06]  We just were.
[00:54:07]  It's just the way we lived.
[00:54:13]  Your kids are watching you, how you carry disappointment, how you carry and handle frustration, how you speak when you think it doesn't matter or you think nobody's listening.
[00:54:26]  They're learning from you what a man does when life just doesn't cooperate.
[00:54:37]  And they'll never learn it from something that you tell them.
[00:54:40]  You know, kids, when life doesn't cooperate, they don't learn it that way.
[00:54:44]  Trust me.
[00:54:46]  I don't think my kids could quote a damn thing I've ever said.
[00:54:49]  Because there have been a lot of things that I said.
[00:54:51]  Because I remember my dad used to, you know, we can survive anything as a family, but we cannot tolerate lies because we'll never survive.
[00:54:58]  I remember that all the time.
[00:55:01]  I am that I am.
[00:55:02]  I am is the most important thing a man can ever say.
[00:55:06]  Be careful how you follow that.
[00:55:07]  I don't think my kids can.
[00:55:08]  And I said it all the time, but I don't think my kids can quote me.
[00:55:16]  But my wife said, yes, they can.
[00:55:19]  And yes, they will.
[00:55:20]  Believe me.
[00:55:23]  The things that we do, the man that we are, Whether you know it or not, is far more valuable than anything that can be wrapped into paper.
[00:55:37]  I know you want to give them everything because I did.
[00:55:41]  Every dad does.
[00:55:44]  I still do.
[00:55:47]  But everything isn't stuff.
[00:55:54]  Everything is teaching them now that their value is not measured by what they can buy or show off.
[00:56:03]  That's what you have to make everything teach them.
[00:56:10]  It's who they are, who they become when things get hard.
[00:56:17]  And life may be hard for you now.
[00:56:19]  And you're not going to sit down and you're not going to look into the eyes of your child and say, you know, mom and dad couldn't afford Christmas because of X, Y, Z.
[00:56:27]  They don't want to hear that.
[00:56:29]  They won't relate.
[00:56:30]  They'll never remember that except that creepy time that dad took me aside and was like explaining adult things to me about, you know, how the economy works.
[00:56:41]  They're going to be watching you on how you react to everything.
[00:56:46]  Some of the strongest, some of the kindest, some of the most resilient people you and I both know did not grow up with abundance.
[00:56:54]  They grew up with stability.
[00:56:57]  They grew up with laughter in the kitchen.
[00:56:59]  They grew up watching their mom and dad hug, say a kind word to each other, apologize to one another.
[00:57:09]  They grew up with a father who was dead tired, but showed up anyway.
[00:57:17]  I can guarantee you, your kids are not going to remember the things they didn't get.
[00:57:26]  They will remember, in the end, the things that made them feel safe.
[00:57:30]  They will remember the sound of your voice.
[00:57:33]  They will remember that even when you were worried, you were the one that stood between them and fear.
[00:57:41]  That's not failure.
[00:57:44]  That's fatherhood.
[00:57:45]  And it's the most important thing.
[00:57:52]  I feel you because I have been there.
[00:57:56]  You are not broken.
[00:57:58]  You are not behind.
[00:57:59]  You are not less than.

[01:03:10]  And so when we divvied up all of the packages on Christmas morning, I stacked a bunch of those at her feet and she was like, what?

[01:03:20]  And I'm like, no, sweetheart.
[01:03:22]  She's like, you made me wrap my own presents.
[01:03:24]  And I'm like, that's a good question.
[01:03:28]  As a disclaimer, as a disclaimer, they were pre like in like boxes and tubes and stuff.
[01:03:34]  So I didn't see the actual gifts.

[01:08:47]  Well, this is a movie that really was modeled after my life.
[01:08:51]  I moved to Nashville in 2007.
[01:08:53]  I didn't have two pennies to rub together.
[01:08:55]  I had two little boys and a wife, and I didn't really know what I was doing here, but I did know that I had a dream to write music and to have my music really matter and be heard.
[01:09:06]  You know, you come to Nashville and you try all the different ways that you can to try to stand out.
[01:09:13]  But man, it's Nashville, right?
[01:09:15]  This is where all the best musicians in the world come.
[01:09:18]  And so there's a lot of fish in this sea.
[01:09:21]  So I eventually decided, you know, maybe that route was not for me.
[01:09:25]  And maybe I'll do something a little bit different and figure out another way that I could showcase my music to people.
[01:09:32]  And I had this maybe stupid or crazy idea to write a musical.
[01:09:37]  So in 2018, I started writing a musical around a song that I had written years earlier called The Best Thing About Christmas.
[01:09:45]  And I didn't know what I was doing.
[01:09:47]  I had never written a musical before.
[01:09:50]  I'm not really a story writer so much like you have been, Glenn.
[01:09:56]  But, you know, I just figured I'm going to try something new and I'm going to figure out a way to stand out.
[01:10:01]  And I knew that I had a calling because I knew that I had a gift.
[01:10:06]  And I just needed to figure out what the right way was to share that gift.
[01:10:11]  So I wrote a musical wonderful help.
[01:10:16]  When you say it's a musical, it's not a musical like, it's not a Broadway, you know, glitz glamour kind of musical.
[01:10:24]  Well, not glitz glamour, but yeah, it was a Broadway-style musical.
[01:10:28]  You know, it was a staged Broadway-style musical that we modeled after another one that we had known about.
[01:10:36]  But yeah, that's kind of how it started.
[01:10:39]  And then the movie, you started shooting it and you cast Cheyenne.
[01:10:43]  And how did you find out about Cheyenne?
[01:10:47]  Well, Of course, I've been listening to you for many years, and I heard her music a couple of years ago, her Christmas album last year, and then heard you talk about her for years because you and I have kids that are the same age.
[01:11:01]  Your oldest, Rafe, and my oldest are the same age and went up to school.
[01:11:06]  And so I just heard about you talking about your kids a lot over the years.
[01:11:11]  And I knew that she was totally into Broadway, right?
[01:11:14]  And I know you were sort of lamenting that, right?
[01:11:17]  I've heard you do that before.
[01:11:20]  Maybe a couple of times.
[01:11:21]  Yeah.
[01:11:23]  And I want to thank you for all of the phone calls that she's now getting from movie producers saying, oh, you're a good movie.
[01:11:32]  We saw the movie thing and it was like, no, no, no.
[01:11:36]  Stop.
[01:11:38]  I'm living the dream.
[01:11:40]  Yeah, yeah.
[01:11:42]  Well, you're living my nightmare.
[01:11:43]  Living my nightmare.
[01:11:46]  Well, we wanted to provide a good, you know, good experience for her to dip her toes into this.
[01:11:52]  And I really hope and feel like we've done that.
[01:11:54]  And she can speak for herself, of course.
[01:11:57]  Yeah, no, it was a good experience for her.
[01:11:59]  She's totally terrible.
[01:12:01]  Yeah.
[01:12:02]  She is.
[01:12:03]  She is, you know, she, I mean, she refers to the movie family as her family.
[01:12:08]  And I'm like, wait, what happened?
[01:12:09]  I mean, that, what, that was like sweet.
[01:12:13]  What are you talking about?
[01:12:13]  We're out.
[01:12:14]  We're like bums all of a sudden.
[01:12:16]  But it was just everybody got together.
[01:12:18]  And I really like the fact.
[01:12:19]  I mean, it is a faith film.
[01:12:21]  And I like the fact that there were people of all different walks of life and all different faiths that came together to make this.
[01:12:29]  And it's, I mean, it was, I was on the set for a day, and it was amazing, the power of the spirit on the set.
[01:12:37]  Yeah, we just had such a great time with everybody.
[01:12:40]  It was, it was really intentional to do that, Glenn.
[01:12:43]  We wanted to, we didn't want to highlight any certain faiths or any specific religion.
[01:12:51]  Yeah, but there's no need to.
[01:12:52]  We came together because we wanted to tell powerful stories that were inspiring about hope and faith and redemption and finding joy and really getting through hard things.
[01:13:04]  You know, life is full of really hard stuff.
[01:13:07]  And when you turn on Hallmark, you're not necessarily going to see the hard stuff.
[01:13:11]  You know, we wanted to show the grit.
[01:13:14]  Not so much.
[01:13:15]  No.
[01:13:15]  We wanted to shy away from that kind of a movie.
[01:13:18]  And then I think we've done so.
[01:13:20]  I mean, you know, the Hallmark movie, it's usually the evil capitalist.
[01:13:24]  And there is an evil capitalist kind of in this that plays a very small role.
[01:13:29]  But the main villain here is, without giving anything away, your own mind and what is happening to you because you're just, you're dealing with something huge.
[01:13:46]  And so many families are dealing with this.
[01:13:49]  And honestly, I don't know how families make it after what happens in the movie, but you guys do barely, but you do.
[01:13:56]  And it's a really great, great story, great ending.
[01:14:00]  So thank you.

[01:18:51]  Where are the heroes of tomorrow?
[01:18:53]  They are starting to pop up everywhere.
[01:18:56]  I don't know if you've noticed this.
[01:18:57]  There's two stories I want to share with you from Bondi Beach in Australia.
[01:19:03]  Let me play the audio of this teenage girl that did something just absolutely heroic.
[01:19:10]  Listen to this.
[01:19:11]  After a few minutes of the shooting, I looked around.
[01:19:15]  Obviously, there was horrible sightings, but to my...
[01:19:19]  So there was a pause in the shooting.
[01:19:21]  Yeah.
[01:19:21]  Yeah, there was a pause.
[01:19:22]  And I looked to my side and there was an elderly woman and a woman that was around 25, I could say.
[01:19:30]  And when I looked at them, it was like obvious.
[01:19:34]  I could see that the elderly woman was shot in the stomach and the younger one was shot in the head.
[01:19:39]  And I could see, yeah, it was hard, but I could see like them bleeding out and I could see it was very graphic.
[01:19:48]  And I saw they, I remember hearing them screaming, like, please save my son, please save my son, save the children, save the children.
[01:19:59]  So all that was going through my head was my mission is to save this children and this is God testing me.
[01:20:06]  You had this message telling you, go save those little kids.
[01:20:09]  Yeah.
[01:20:10]  So.
[01:20:12]  And how old did you say they were?
[01:20:14]  They like around three to five.
[01:20:17]  I'm not sure.
[01:20:17]  They were toddlers.
[01:20:19]  So I climbed out from under the bench and everyone was screaming like, get down, save yourself, save yourself.
[01:20:24]  I was like, no, God is next to me.
[01:20:26]  God is telling me.
[01:20:27]  God is with me and I'm doing this.
[01:20:29]  So I, sorry, I climbed out from under the bridge and there was still shots firing and I was under the...
[01:20:38]  So they'd started up again the bridge?
[01:20:40]  Yeah, they started again.
[01:20:41]  I was like, I don't care.
[01:20:42]  I'm doing it.
[01:20:43]  Whatever happens is for the good.
[01:20:45]  And if I die saving kids' lives, then that's the best way I would want to die because that's what God wanted from me.
[01:20:54]  So I climbed under and I grabbed the kids from them and it was really heartbreaking.
[01:21:01]  What I saw.
[01:21:05]  They had their mum.
[01:21:07]  I'm not sure if it was a mum, but I know that the son, it was the son's mum.
[01:21:12]  They were covered in blood head to toe of the people that they were.
[01:21:18]  The mum, so she was holding them.
[01:21:20]  So I grabbed them and I just fully went on top of them.
[01:21:24]  Like I felt like it was an out-of-body experience.
[01:21:28]  Like I felt like I was watching a movie and this was what was happening.
[01:21:32]  So I jumped onto them and I was like a cave to them.
[01:21:36]  Like I went on top and I just laid on top of them.
[01:21:39]  And the woman who was saying save my son, she was the one who'd been shot in her head.
[01:21:48]  She'd been shot in her head.
[01:21:49]  She's holding her children, looking for someone to help them.
[01:21:52]  Because she couldn't physically roll on top of them, like even if she tried, because they were next to her.
[01:21:56]  So I just, when I took them, then I was cleaning their faces and I was telling them that I loved them so much.
[01:22:04]  And so what happened then?
[01:22:05]  So I went on them and I felt the impact of the shot and I knew I got shot.
[01:22:10]  And I said, I don't care.
[01:22:11]  I'm protecting them.
[01:22:12]  Where were you shot?
[01:22:14]  I was shot on my thigh around here.
[01:22:16]  It's like elevated right now, but it's a pretty big bullet, they said it was like the size of a 20 cent coin and it was like a few centimeters thick.
[01:22:26]  But thank God, the surgery went well and I got it out.
[01:22:30]  In that moment, I channeled the pain into strength.
[01:22:33]  Like, I don't know how I did it.
[01:22:34]  I've never practiced doing that in my entire life.
[01:22:37]  But in that moment.
[01:22:38]  14, you just finished year eight.
[01:22:43]  You're incredible.
[01:22:45]  Thank you.
[01:22:46]  And so while you're protecting these little kids, you try to find your phone to call the police to call Triple O.
[01:22:54]  And it was ringing and ringing and ringing.
[01:22:57]  And finally, I get a voice.
[01:22:59]  And they were like, I said, I'm sorry.
[01:23:04]  There's so many people shot a lot of people.
[01:23:06]  But I didn't want to scare the kids because I know they've obviously already been traumatized.
[01:23:09]  So I was like, you know, you probably understand.
[01:23:11]  And I need you to be here.
[01:23:13]  I said, the police, please come.
[01:23:15]  Like, it's like we need you to step up and support the country.
[01:23:19]  Did you say I've been shot?
[01:23:21]  Yeah, I said, I've been shot.
[01:23:22]  There's a lot of people that have been shot.
[01:23:23]  I see a lot of people that don't look well.
[01:23:26]  I was saying, please come, like, come by beach.
[01:23:30]  Like, I'm sure you're getting a lot of calls, but you need to be here.
[01:23:32]  Like, you need to support our country and you need to be here.
[01:23:36]  And then I got a voice and it was saying, sorry, we don't have time for you.
[01:23:42]  There's too many people calling right now.
[01:23:48]  And they hung up.
[01:23:50]  They hung up.
[01:23:52]  And so what did you do then?
[01:23:54]  So you tried to call Triple O.
[01:23:56]  So what was your next move?
[01:23:57]  I called my dad and he said, I'm coming right now.
[01:24:00]  And he ran to me.
[01:24:01]  And he told me after that when he found me, I had one kid in one arm and another kid in my other arm.
[01:24:08]  And so I don't have time for the other one.
[01:24:11]  So I'm going to go back to Sydney.
[01:24:15]  He took the kids from me so my dad could start to put pressure on the wound.
[01:24:22]  Do I have time for the second one?
[01:24:24]  DJ, you got to hear this one.
[01:24:26]  That is such an amazing story.
[01:24:28]  You want to know where courage is?
[01:24:29]  It's alive.
[01:24:30]  Listen to this one.
[01:24:32]  And we have a big menorah outside our home and we've become that home in Randwick that all the neighbors know and we keep it up all year because, since October 7th especially, we just feel the community needs that and we've gotten so much positive feedback for it.
[01:24:46]  And when we finally made it out of the beach and got home that night, our sons, our children, were crying and they said, please, turn off the menorah.
[01:24:55]  Our home is going to become its market.
[01:24:57]  And my husband and I looked at each other.
[01:24:58]  We said, no way, we're not going down like this.
[01:25:01]  We don't turn off menorahs, we don't hide our kidneys, we stand proud and loud.
[01:25:06]  But our children were crying, they begged.
[01:25:08]  They said, please mom mama, turn that menorah off.
[01:25:12]  And so I looked at them and I said, as a mother, we're gonna turn it off.
[01:25:16]  And the next day a Christian neighbor came past I wasn't home, I was in the hospital with Kyla and she said, yesterday my daughter drove past your house and the menorah was off and she just sobbed and she said, no mom, they're turning off their menorah.
[01:25:34]  The evil can't win.
[01:25:36]  And so when she came and said that, my husband called me and I said, no matter what, that menorah goes back on.
[01:25:43]  We don't turn off menorahs, we don't stop shining light.
[01:25:47]  And that was, would be, Rabbi Ellie's message today.

[01:25:50]  I can promise you, I can say with full certainty, if he was standing here today, he Would say, we don't go down in darkness.

[01:28:53]  And he's also talking about the Patriot games, which everybody is making fun of.
[01:28:57]  I'm not one of them.
[01:28:58]  I want to explain.
[01:28:59]  I mean, it's a little weird, but I think I know, I understand what I think he's trying to say and why he looks at things the way he does.
[01:29:09]  And people are not understanding.
[01:29:13]  Listen to your elders.
[01:29:14]  Sometimes they know something that you don't know.
[01:29:16]  And I'll explain that coming up in just a second.

[01:31:18]  And I think it's like we kind of prepare the way you would prepare for a hostage negotiation that you don't remember agreeing to, you know?
[01:31:27]  And this day, every year this day comes, I start vacation right after the show.
[01:31:33]  And I'm very excited for it, very excited for vacation.
[01:31:37]  But it also comes with, oh, crap, now the responsibility is there.
[01:31:41]  Okay.
[01:31:43]  Because, you know, Christmas arrives on December 25th.
[01:31:50]  And as a man, you really started thinking about it maybe that evening, you know.
[01:31:57]  I mean, that's not fair because it actually starts.
[01:31:59]  The first time Christmas really arrives and you're reminded is the first time somebody, usually your wife says, So what do you think your mom would want?
[01:32:08]  And that's the moment you realize, oh, crap, there's a checklist.
[01:32:12]  No one gave me a checklist.
[01:32:13]  I'm already behind because she's already on the checklist.
[01:32:18]  And so then you just, it's weird because you, at least I do, I prepare in phases, you know.
[01:32:26]  And the first phase is really simple.
[01:32:30]  It's early.
[01:32:32]  There's plenty of time.
[01:32:34]  Online shopping exists.
[01:32:36]  Oh, I got this one covered.
[01:32:38]  I'll be able to do that quickly.
[01:32:39]  Now, these are not thoughts.
[01:32:43]  These are lies we tell to ourselves so we can remain upright.
[01:32:49]  Okay.
[01:32:49]  At least that's the way I feel.
[01:32:51]  Because I have there are thoughts, but they're, they are lies because I know I'm not going to do any of those things.
[01:32:59]  Okay.
[01:33:00]  I promised myself at the time this year it's going to be different.
[01:33:03]  I'm going to do it.
[01:33:03]  You know what?
[01:33:04]  I'm going to get ahead.
[01:33:05]  Never, never happens.
[01:33:06]  Never happens.
[01:33:07]  And then you're standing there on Christmas Eve and you're like, I didn't do any of those things.
[01:33:11]  Last year, I think it was last year, maybe the year before, I actually looked for presents under the tree that I thought I had purchased and somehow or another were, you know, that wrapped themselves and found their way under the tree.
[01:33:25]  I swore I bought those presents.
[01:33:29]  No, nope.
[01:33:30]  I had a thought some point in maybe November thinking I'm way ahead of the game.
[01:33:36]  You know what I'm going to do?
[01:33:37]  I'm going to do that.
[01:33:37]  And I might have even gone online, looked at it, and then not completed the purchase because I'm going to get back to that.
[01:33:44]  And then I don't.
[01:33:44]  And then I think it was last year.
[01:33:47]  I actually thought, no, I bought those.
[01:33:50]  My wife went, I look at the MX every month, honey.
[01:33:55]  You didn't buy those gifts.
[01:33:57]  Really?
[01:33:58]  Because I swear I didn't.
[01:34:00]  No.
[01:34:02]  So the second phase that we have is surveillance, because I don't know about you, but I have no idea what to get anyone.
[01:34:11]  I have no idea.
[01:34:13]  None.
[01:34:14]  Zero.
[01:34:15]  So you begin to begin to listen for clues, kind of like you're decoding enemy transmissions, you know, when somebody says, oh, that's pretty.
[01:34:25]  Goes into the same dumpster in your mind where you were just doing, I'm going to buy this.
[01:34:28]  Oh, I got this handled.
[01:34:29]  Oh, it's early.
[01:34:31]  It goes into that same file.
[01:34:33]  Oh, that's pretty.
[01:34:34]  Got to remember that.
[01:34:35]  She liked that.
[01:34:37]  Oh, you know what she really likes?
[01:34:39]  She really likes.
[01:34:41]  Okay.
[01:34:42]  I mean, I got the clue.
[01:34:44]  You just told me.
[01:34:46]  I'm going to make a mental note of it, but it's not going to survive the drive home.
[01:34:50]  It will be gone.
[01:34:51]  It will be gone.
[01:34:53]  And then again, on Christmas Eve, you're like, what was it she said she liked?
[01:34:57]  It's horrible.
[01:34:59]  Maybe this is just me.
[01:35:00]  It could very well be just because I'm not good at this.
[01:35:04]  I'm not good at this.
[01:35:05]  Actually, I'm really good at this in my head.
[01:35:12]  Phase three, the spreadsheet.
[01:35:17]  It doesn't exist.
[01:35:20]  The spreadsheet really, it just, it lives only in fear, you know, because you don't write anything down.
[01:35:27]  That would be a big help.
[01:35:28]  Write it down.
[01:35:29]  But then I'm, then I'm always thinking, I'll forget it in my pants and then I'll throw my pants in the washer and she'll say, I found your list in my pants.
[01:35:36]  So don't write it down.
[01:35:38]  I mean to write it down.
[01:35:39]  By the way, the pants thing is a really good excuse.
[01:35:42]  Another lie, men tell themselves.
[01:35:45]  But I don't write it down.
[01:35:48]  I mean to, but writing down all the stuff you have to do, then it becomes real.
[01:35:53]  And if it's real, then you're going to fail.
[01:35:55]  Okay.
[01:35:57]  Because once it's real, once, you know, when it happens, blew it again this year.
[01:36:03]  And then the final phase is phase four, and that is the panic purchase.
[01:36:08]  This happens somewhere between now and Christmas.
[01:36:14]  And it happens at the point when shipping changes from arrives by Christmas to good luck with that.
[01:36:23]  Because all week, I've been saying, remember, honey, I'm just going to tell you now, you're not getting the pajamas.
[01:36:29]  She wanted pajamas from Cozy Earth.
[01:36:32]  Had every intention every day.
[01:36:34]  Got to do that.
[01:36:35]  I read the spot every day and said I'm going to buy her pajamas.
[01:36:41]  I didn't buy the pajamas because then I get off the air and I completely forget about it because I didn't write it down.
[01:36:49]  So, honey, I know it's not going to be a disappointment.
[01:36:52]  You know you aren't going to get the pajamas.
[01:36:54]  You're going to get an emergency.
[01:36:56]  Oh, holy crap.
[01:36:59]  What can I get by Christmas?
[01:37:01]  That's what you get.
[01:37:02]  And you buy something expensive enough that it looks intentional.
[01:37:08]  You tell yourself this communicates love.
[01:37:11]  It doesn't.
[01:37:12]  It doesn't.
[01:37:12]  It communicates urgency.
[01:37:16]  This was the thing that I got.
[01:37:19]  I spent extra money on it because I didn't want you to think that it was just an emergency.
[01:37:24]  But she knows.
[01:37:25]  She knows.
[01:37:30]  So today I have to put the checklist together.
[01:37:33]  And it's all going to live in my head.
[01:37:40]  So here's the real checklist that every man should have.
[01:37:43]  Okay.
[01:37:44]  The real check.
[01:37:45]  The real checklist.
[01:37:51]  Pretend wrapping paper doesn't matter.
[01:37:55]  Okay, just pretend.
[01:37:58]  Next on the list, discover it matters deeply.
[01:38:03]  Next on the list, pretend cards don't matter.
[01:38:08]  Next one on the list, discover they matter deeply.
[01:38:12]  That one, I still don't understand that one.
[01:38:15]  I blow that every single year.
[01:38:19]  Every year.
[01:38:21]  Where's the card?
[01:38:22]  Oh, I didn't get a card and write stuff in it.
[01:38:24]  I'm sorry.
[01:38:25]  I didn't do it.
[01:38:26]  Wasn't on my checklist.
[01:38:28]  I meant to.
[01:38:29]  At one point in the last month, I did think I should get a card and I'm going to get a really good card this year and then I don't get a card.
[01:38:39]  Next on the checklist, rewrap the same box three times because you're never going to get it right.
[01:38:45]  And then convince yourself that dad wrapping adds charm.
[01:38:50]  Know that it doesn't, but convince yourself of that.
[01:38:54]  Then there's the all-important social checklist.
[01:38:58]  And I still don't have these down.
[01:39:03]  Remember the names of all the relatives that you've known for decades that you cannot remember their names.
[01:39:12]  Remember their names this year because they're coming.
[01:39:14]  And you're going to be like, oh my gosh, it's Aunt, I love you.
[01:39:19]  And I don't really remember.
[01:39:21]  I mean, I remember you, but I don't remember your name.
[01:39:24]  And it's very, very awkward now because you know I don't know your name.
[01:39:29]  Remember the names.
[01:39:31]  Act surprised by gifts you absolutely knew were coming.
[01:39:35]  Say, oh, wow, in different tones.
[01:39:39]  So it sounds sincere and not like the same, oh, wow.
[01:39:45]  Really important one.
[01:39:46]  Don't buy any clothes for your daughters.
[01:39:49]  Nope.
[01:39:50]  Nope.
[01:39:51]  Don't do it.
[01:39:52]  They'll never wear them.
[01:39:53]  They don't like them.
[01:39:55]  Dad, dad, my dad bought this for me.
[01:39:57]  Don't.
[01:39:58]  Just don't do it.
[01:39:59]  As hard as I try, I have pretty good.
[01:40:01]  I think I have pretty good taste.
[01:40:02]  Nope.
[01:40:03]  None of my daughters have my taste.
[01:40:05]  None of them.
[01:40:06]  And so that either means that we're just all wildly different or I don't have good taste.
[01:40:13]  One of those two.

[01:40:18]  And this is the most important one.
[01:40:20]  And if you're a new father, please understand you must get these down quickly.

[01:40:31]  When a gift is given to your daughter, she's growing up, don't say, wow, that's a little short, isn't it?
[01:40:41]  Don't do it.
[01:40:42]  Don't do it.
[01:40:44]  I mean, my daughter could come dressed in a full-length gown, and I'd be like, it's a little short, isn't it?
[01:40:52]  I don't know.
[01:40:52]  When it's your daughter, you know, there's something that happens with your daughter.
[01:40:56]  Burkas don't actually sound bad for your daughter during high school years.
[01:41:03]  I'm just saying.
[01:41:04]  I'm just saying.
[01:41:05]  You know why?
[01:41:06]  Because you know exactly how guys think.
[01:41:09]  No, they don't.
[01:41:10]  Yes, they do.
[01:41:11]  No, they don't, Dad.
[01:41:12]  You don't know.
[01:41:13]  Yes, I do.
[01:41:16]  At dinner, don't say, did we forget the sweet potatoes?
[01:41:21]  You had nothing to do with it.
[01:41:22]  The adding of we, she knows.
[01:41:25]  She's already gone.
[01:41:26]  I forgot the sweet potato.
[01:41:28]  You're not making things better.
[01:41:30]  Don't ask, how much did that cost?
[01:41:33]  Don't do it.
[01:41:35]  In fact, forget that last one.
[01:41:37]  Here's what you need to do.
[01:41:39]  Don't say anything.
[01:41:42]  That's what you have to do.
[01:41:44]  As a dad, during the holidays, just don't say anything.

[01:52:43]  You can talk about, you know, some gastro problem that somebody's going through.
[01:52:50]  And I mean, you talk about anything and it's all mixed in there.
[01:52:54]  And this was the first talk radio show that said, no, I'm not going to just talk about politics.
[01:53:03]  I'm going to talk a little bit about God.
[01:53:04]  I'm going to talk about life.
[01:53:05]  I'm going to talk about, you know, raising kids.
[01:53:10]  You know, oh, you mean like Dr. Laura?
[01:53:12]  No, because that's all she does.
[01:53:14]  Oh, so you're going to talk politics, kind of like Rush Limbaugh?
[01:53:16]  No, because that's all he does.
[01:53:20]  This was very different.
[01:53:21]  And we didn't know if it would be a success.
[01:53:24]  But it was born out of the willingness to fail.
[01:53:31]  Because when you fail as you think, you fail as a human being.
[01:53:37]  When you're an alcoholic and you lose control of yourself and you've lost your honor and integrity and everything else, you realize nothing else matters.
[01:53:46]  Nothing else matters, and so you just want to be you and that is a great gift.
[01:53:53]  If you're struggling, struggling with alcohol, oh man wait, your life is gonna open up so much.
[01:54:00]  Just take that first step.
[01:54:02]  Uh, keep trying, just keep trying.
[01:54:04]  Just do the things that you need to do.
[01:54:07]  For me it was 12-step program, but just do it, because your life gets so much better and it's amazing if you just stop the lies.
[01:54:17]  And the first thing is stop lying to yourself, but just stop the lies.
[01:54:21]  Just stop whatever it is you're doing, because whatever you're doing, at least with me, whatever I was doing, I was screwing it up, my life was a mess and you know who's in charge of it me, um.
[01:54:35]  And we've gone through this whole 20 plus years together.
[01:54:40]  Stu and I we've been together.
[01:54:41]  What 27 years too?
[01:54:43]  Yeah, maybe 28, a few weeks.
[01:54:45]  Yeah yeah, he was.
[01:54:46]  He was talking to me.
[01:54:47]  He said, you know, I knew you before my wife.
[01:54:49]  I knew you before my wife too.
[01:54:51]  Right did.
[01:54:52]  Did I know you before Tanya Gosh?
[01:54:56]  I don't know, maybe maybe right around before you were married, for sure, but I I can't, I can't remember the first date.
[01:55:00]  It was right around the same time.
[01:55:03]  I mean uh, it's crazy, that's crazy.
[01:55:07]  You're thinking about that.
[01:55:07]  Like that caller that called in, we've been doing the show throughout his entire professional life.
[01:55:14]  Basically, like it was so weird to hear him talk about his, his life and and like how and he just retired.
[01:55:18]  I was like we were there the whole time.
[01:55:20]  It's so weird to think about and it's it's comforting.
[01:55:25]  Yeah, it's comforting.
[01:55:27]  And you know, while you listen to us, we don't, we don't always get a chance to hear you, but we know you're there and we think about you all the time.
[01:55:37]  And um, it's not right.
[01:55:42]  I try to talk about it in different ways all the way through, but on my last broadcast of the year, it is not right for me to, at least for me to leave without recognizing the gifts from my savior, my life, my life, my peace, my intellect,
[01:56:11]  my ability to make mistakes and recover from them, my wife, my children everything comes from him.
[01:56:19]  Everything good in my life comes from him.
[01:56:21]  Every mistake comes from me, but what comes from him is forgiveness afterwards.
[01:56:29]  Cheyenne and I, my my youngest daughter, who is now just about to turn 19 she's going to go on tour with me next year, next christmas, and I used to do this kind of this funny kind of just tell stories about my family, because my family is Sane.
[01:56:49]  And we used to go on tour and tell the same stories every year, but it would sell out instantly all the time.
[01:56:58]  And I haven't told them in years and years.
[01:57:01]  And we dug up an old DVD of it recently and we were watching it.
[01:57:06]  And my kids were laughing so hard.
[01:57:10]  And they hadn't heard some of those stories.
[01:57:14]  And I thought, you know, I want to do that again.
[01:57:18]  And then last year, my daughter and I, we worked on a Christmas album together and we just kind of put it together kind of quickly.
[01:57:27]  This year, we decided to do it right.
[01:57:29]  We've been working on it for a while.
[01:57:31]  And it is, it's going to be really, really good.
[01:57:35]  And she's going to go tour with me.
[01:57:38]  And she is very funny.
[01:57:41]  She is like, she can just cut me down the side so fast.
[01:57:45]  She is just so funny.
[01:57:47]  And she always has been.
[01:57:49]  When she was, you know, like four, three or four, I used to call her Lucy.
[01:57:53]  I still call her Lucy because she's like Lucille Ball.
[01:57:55]  The faces she makes, the actions, her timing, everything is just amazing.
[01:58:00]  And she was born that way.
[01:58:02]  Well, she was actually born looking like my grandmother, which was not a good look, but she grew out of that quickly.
[01:58:07]  And then she, like, I don't know, she started channeling Lucy.
[01:58:12]  And so I've been writing because we want to do, we want to do some original stuff because there's not a lot of sacred stuff that is being written, not a lot of stuff that is that is really talking about Christ in a new way.
[01:58:28]  And I started wondering a few weeks ago why God would give up his throne for people he knew may not even believe.
[01:58:47]  To have truth, truth, come down and choose to cry is quite a miracle.
