But I have to tell you, I am sick of the lecture that we all have to endure from producers of television shows that just want to show all the other producers that they can be the truly most politically corrected show or network of them all.
After all, these TV shows are very important to humanity, you know.
So let everyone hear from here to Alpha Centauri that the BBC is way, way far ahead of all other space police box driving Time Lord doctor shows.
They are the most politically correct.
Now, if America, who is always behind, could just get Captain Kirk to make it with a tap-dancing green man who has no legs.
Then all of the enlightened producers will have all the other characters refuse to point out that those green tap-dancing men with no legs cannot tap dance, let alone dance, walk, or even move, because they have no feet or legs.

The parents have privately expressed their concern after discovering that the lawyer that has been appointed by the court to represent their 11-month-old son is the chairperson of Compassion in Dying, the sister organization to Dignity in Dying, which is campaigning for a change in the law to make assisted dying legal in the UK.
Dignity in Dying used to be called Voluntary Euthanasia Society.
So the court didn't think it was a problem to appoint as Charlie Gard's attorney someone who is in charge of the euthanasia program in England.
But I don't, why would they have a problem with that?
A source close to the parents said, the family finds it astonishing that the court appointed the barrister to act in the interest of Charlie Gard as the chairman of Compassion in Dying, the sister body of dignity and dying.
It looks like a profound conflict of interest.

Here's what's amazing is they didn't know this before.
Today, the American neurosurgeon who claims to have pioneered an experimental treatment, who says he can help Charlie, will examine him.
He flew in from New York over the weekend.
He examines him today.
Compassion in Dying says it was wrong to suggest there's any conflict of interest between the role of the attorney and representing Charlie's guardian in court and her view that adults with full mental capacity should be allowed to plan their own death.
The charity said there are clear differences between this in this case, the work of dignity in dying and the work of compassion in dying.
Charlie Gard case is about making decisions in the best interest of a seriously ill child.

The high court ruled in April Charlie should be allowed to die with dignity.

She even brought the mattress to the graduation ceremony in 2015.

A month before she received their degrees, he sued Columbia, accusing it of supporting what he called an outrageous display of harassment and defamation.
He said that the university may have gone too far by giving her academic credit for the art project.

The monument is going up for the Satanic Temple, which features an upturned helmet atop a black cube.
Soon we'll be at the site of the Veterans Memorial Park in Belle Plain.
It's being built by a group of Satanists out of Massachusetts and be the first satanic monument on public property in United States history.
It's going to be great.
So the people in Massachusetts were like, I just got to have a memorial in Minnesota.
I've got to have it.
We're going for Belle Plain.
This has been the goal of this church the entire time.
We need to get a monument in Belle Plain in a Veterans Park.
Well, let's see.
The city is allowing the monument to be built after a religious freedom group threatened to sue over another statue, which features a soldier praying over a grave marked with a cross.
City officials say the memorial, which is not inside the park yet, is finished, but they're still working on a date when it'll go in.
It has to be put in a small area called the Free Speech Zone.
It's an area designated to 10 or fewer memorials, as long as they honor veterans.
They say they were putting it up, and I didn't like it, said one resident.
City Council member Kerry Coop said he voted against the designated free speech area.
I don't think there are too many Satanists around here, but it is free speech, said Coop.
He says they anticipated other groups coming in.
We were warned against creating this free speech zone, and it'll be probably just as well that we didn't have one, that people could use private property to say whatever they wanted.
Carnitz, whose husband is a veteran of the Vietnam War, says she finds the new satanic monument offensive.

Let me give you one good story here of somebody actually standing.
A week and a half before they were scheduled to perform in Tel Aviv's Yarkin Park, Radiohead continued to battle the anti-Israel boycott divestment sanctions BDS movement.
During the band's Friday night concert at a festival in Glasgow, Scotland, several activists raised Palestinian flags as well as a radiohead hashtag cancel Tel Aviv sign and held demonstrations outside the venue, causing the lead singer to respond, according to consequence of sound.
Prior to the band's performance, York reportedly exclaimed, some effing people while staring out in the crowd.
Radiohead have faced a number of protests over their decision to play Tel Aviv, including an event at Glastonbury, England last month.
Speaking recently to Rolling Stone, York described the situation as offensive and an extraordinary waste of energy.

So over the weekend, Elon Musk was with the governors and he said that AI is a fundamental risk to human civilization.
You have to hear his speech.
He's trying to get somebody to listen to him.
I hope that he is wrong, but we should listen to him.
And we also want to tell you about a story that I think is absolutely unbelievable.
A couple moved from Thailand to Texas and they started a mom-and-pop wedding dress store.
They started it in 1983.
30 years in business, located in Garland, Texas.
It was just shut down by the IRS, which they claim they owed unpaid taxes totaling $31,400.
Now, the family says we don't owe the IRS any money.
Plus, we haven't been convicted of a crime.
But that didn't stop the IRS.
Wait until you see what the IRS has done to this immigrant family.
We begin there right now.
I will make a stand.
I will raise my voice.
I will hold your hand.
Cause we have won.
I will be my drum.
I have made my choice.
We will overcome.

This is about a couple.
They're both near 70, one's 72, the other one's 68.
They moved to Texas from Thailand and they, you know, they wanted to live the American dream, and they have been.
Except they've been in business now for 30 years in Garland, Texas.
The IRS says they owe them about $30,000.
They say we don't owe the IRS any money.
We've never been convicted of a crime.
20 armed IRS agents came in, shut down the business in March, and they seized 1,600 designer wedding gowns.
They told the couple they had to produce $10,000 immediately or the IRS would sell the dresses when the couple said, we're not paying you.
We haven't been charged with anything and we don't owe you any money.
The IRS agents sold all the gowns in two hours.
Now, the dresses were worth $615,000.
They sold them for $3.75 per gallon.
The IRS made $6,000 on $615,000.
How do we feel about that, boys?
Efficient?
Right?
Government's doing a great job, aren't they?
They sure are.
They always do.
They always do.
I wonder if this is such a strange phenomenon.
How could it happen in the United States of America?
More so, how could it happen in Texas?
Yeah.
It's outrageous.
Not charged with a crime, and not convicted of a crime, and yet they confiscate their entire inventory and sell it all just out of spite, it seems like.
The property has been wiped out.
Everything that they had, they are now destitute.
Everything they had built since immigrating to the United States before beginning their business in 1983 has been wiped out.
Dallas Morning News reported the IRS said that they attempted to evade federal requirements by making multiple cash deposits under the $10,000 reporting limit.
But the couple was never formally charged with breaking the law.
So once again, it's the Patriot Act.
It's such a weird thing.
They did this to Dennis Hastert, right?
Which, again, it seems like he was very much involved in really shady stuff.
But separate from this, he was trying to pull, he was taking out less than $10,000 because there's a reporting requirement for over $10,000.
But if you take out just under $10,000 too many times, that also becomes a-we found that out during that Dennis Hazard case, that it's not so much the limit, it's the difference.
Yeah, because if you do $9,900 a bunch of times in a row, they assume you're just trying to hide it.
Right.
Which may very well be true.
However, if you have a standard, then what you're saying is the it's it's very much Jennifer Aniston in in office space and which she would like.
That's just what I was thinking.
I think what's everyone's thinking.
You want 15 pieces of flare.
If the rule is 15 pieces of flare and she's wearing 15 pieces of flare, then she should be fine.
However, the manager keeps saying, don't you want to wear more flare?
Is the rule higher than 15 pieces of flare?
Because if it is, I'll wear more than 15.
But if it's 15, I'm wearing 15.
And that's what the standard we're all in that situation.
From 2005 to 2012, the IRS took from people more than $43 million in 600 cases whose assets had been taken and not suspected of any criminal activity except for having made deposits slightly below the $10,000 threshold.
So weird.
The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration revealed a report from 2012 to 2014 that the IRS has seized more than $17 million from people because they engaged in suspicious banking depositing patterns.
But there's no criminal activity.
None of them had been charged with a crime.
Current law does not require the funds to have an illegal source.
They could just come and take your money.
But that is so weird.
To me, it's not even right for them to know that there is a bunch of these deposits to even think of an indication to further investigate, let alone just to convict of the fact that they saw a bunch of people.
Stu, we have to be safe from the Muslim extremists.

That has lots to do with that obviously.
Yeah, that's what it does.
That's what this is for.
This is not for anything else.
This is to protect us from the Muslim extremists.
And these guys who are in the bridal gown business since 1983 are clearly part of some Muslim extremist ring.
Otherwise, it wouldn't have come up on, you know, the Patriot Act allows this, but that was just for, you know, making sure that no money was going to Muslim extremists.
The 68 and 73-year-old Thai couple, clearly Muslim extremists, selling wedding dresses, the perfect front.
Everybody knows it.
Well, how many times have we seen six owners?
Well, 600 cases where people weren't charged with a crime.
So we know we've seen 600 cases doing that.
And then it's Connecticut of all places that has passed a law that is getting rid of this.
This idea that you can go in and take people's stuff without charging them with a crime.
Civil asset forfeiture.
Which I don't think is the same as this.
This is the IRS coming in.
I mean, it's similar.
It's similar, but I'm not sure it's the same.
Civil asset forfeiture is they can come into your house and you don't have a receipt for the money that you might have in a safe or you don't have a receipt for the money you have in your purse and they can just take it because they suspect you of a crime.
And so they say, just take it.
At its worst, at its worst, that there is a situation where they will come and take your stuff, not only without convicting you of a crime or charging you with a crime, not even without a real investigation of you potentially committing a crime.
They can just take it.
And that's not obviously, I mean, that's not the way it's always used, but I mean, it is completely out of control.
And conviction is obviously the standard here.
The issue is they can still take stuff from you, but if you go to trial and they don't convict you, then they have to return it.
This is a crazy step in the way.
It's nuts.
It's nuts.
It is.
This is not who we are as Americans.
If we don't get a hold of this, I mean, God only knows what is coming next.
I mean, if we ever hit a really bad situation, what are you going to do?
I mean, we hit a situation where the government needs to clamp down.
They'll control every bit of your life.
Every bit of your life.
And what are you going to, and what are you going to say about it?
We're not saying anything about it now.
We just had a story a couple months ago about a couple driving through Texas.
They were going to buy a car.
Remember this?
Yeah.
They got pulled over and they had $10,000 on them to buy the car.
And the sheriff took it.
He just took it because they had $10,000 in cash.
It shouldn't have been a problem.
It could have been a drug deal.
But didn't we find out?
Didn't we find out in that particular town?
I mean, I can't believe we're saying this about America.
In that particular town, didn't we find out that that was something that happens quite a bit?
Yes.
And they threatened to take your child.
If you say something about the money, they threaten to take your child because you're an unfit parent.
That's nuts.
What kind of country are we turning into?
And this goes back to what we've talked about about every single case and every single story that hits the news today is you have to have principles.
This is a constitutional principle.
You can't just have stuff taken from you by the government.
This is pretty clear in the Constitution that you can't, the government can't just come and just rip stuff away from people.
That is not what is supposed to happen in this country.
And I don't know if it's because probably 95% of the time it is used against people who are dealing drugs and are guilty of doing those things.
But it goes to the same point we talked about with, what is it, the Philippines.
It's an extension of that same principle.
Well, you know, drug dealers are bad.
And most of the time, they are killing people who are actually drug dealers.
So therefore, let's not make a big deal about this.
That's how these things swing out of control.
But 21 cases out of the 252 cases, okay, 21 cases out of 252, Those 21 were actual crimes.
Out of 252.
It's even worse.
So only 21 of them were actually ever charged with anything.
The rest of them just lost everything and nobody said any.
It doesn't seem to be that there's not some of this would make some sense if it was easy for someone who's wrongly accused of something to get their stuff back.
I mean, maybe you'd at least argue it.
But I mean, see, this is the deal.
We're not prosecuting anybody.
We give them every excuse under the sun.

We make excuses for everybody.
Nobody is held responsible for anything anymore.

You know, talking about the digital currency and trying to get your money out of the bank, this is one of the reasons why they say Bitcoin is really starting to take off.
And they look at things and say, you know, gold is always known as a safe haven, but Bitcoin, people are worried even about gold or silver now because things are getting so crazy.
And what is Bitcoin up to now?
It's over 2,000.
It's actually down quite a bit from its real peaks, which was almost 3,000.
When was that?
A few weeks ago?
That's a few weeks ago.
That's when I bought 3,000.
So it's down to 2,000 now?
Yeah, quote unquote, down to about a little over 2,000.
which is, you know, I mean, that's the time to buy it.
It's a lot.
That's what I thought of 3,000.
I mean, who knows?
There's a big technical issue coming up in the next two weeks, which is a scary proposition for it.
Not to go into too much detail on it because it's basically the most boring thing you could possibly talk about.
So much of Bitcoin seems to be that.
It is.
I mean, it really isn't.
It's really a crazy bet to make, you know, in some ways.
Well, with crazy upside down.
Because you don't.

I mean, it's the kind of thing you lose everything or you just gain everything.
It's really nuts.
That's why you don't put your life savings in there and you don't invest in it except for everything that you're willing to lose.

However, you go back just three months, it was at 1,000.
So it's still up 100% even after coming off of its highs.

It was quite astounding to see him speak saying we really need to do something about AI.
He says that AI is going to change the world and not in a positive way.
He says that AI is a fundamental quoting, a fundamental risk to civilization.
He says it's a fundamental risk to the existence of mankind.
On the artificial intelligence front, I have exposure to the very most cutting-edge AI, and I think people should really be concerned about it.
I keep sounding the alarm bell, but until people see like robots going down the street killing people, they won't know how to react because it seems so ethereal.
He said we should really be concerned about AI and that emerging technology presents a rare case where the government should be proactive in regulation instead of reactive to industry.
By the time we're reactive to AI, regulation will be too late.
Normally, the way regulation is set up, a whole bunch of bad things happen.
There's a public outcry.
And then after years, a regulatory agency is set up to regulate that industry.
There's a bunch of opposition from companies who don't like to be told what to do by regulators, and it takes forever.
That in the past has been bad, but not something which represented a fundamental risk to the existence of civilization.
Car accidents, airplane crashes, faulty drugs, bad foods are merely harmful to certain parts of society.
But AI will affect all of society.
I'm against over-regulation for sure, but I think we better get that with AI.
I really think we need a lot of government regulation here.
Robots will be able to do everything better than us.
I'm not exactly sure what to do about when machines reach their potential.
This is really like the scariest problem to me.
I lose a lot of sleep.
Clearly, he talks about it all the time.
It's really why he's going to Mars.
I mean, most people don't really realize that.
That's why he says he's going to Mars.
He believes in.
Escaping AI.
Yeah, he says this threat is so bad that if Humans aren't on another planet.
They risk extermination from AI.
Every Elon Musk speech is like the, as the opening music is running in some apocalyptic story, like those are the, well, they're showing these old-timey clips of some guy predicting terrible things.
And then you just join the present day with like 12 people left on the planet.
Yeah.
It really is.
He's freaked out beyond even you, I think, Glenn.
Isn't he?
Oh, isn't he?
I mean, you don't even, I know you've got fears and concerns about I am really concerned.
And I have some too, but I'm not like Elon Musk over it.
The problem with AI is it doesn't think like us, and that's what we cannot predict.
And we've just learned this from what is that Maijong or something?
What is that game, the Chinese game that's harder than chess?
Yeah, more complex.
I don't remember, but it beats the masters at that game.
Okay, so AI just you remember when Big Blue beat, what was it, Kasparov?
He accused IBM of cheating.
And they're like, no, it's AI.
But it took them like three years to beat Kasparov.
So there's another game, this Chinese game.
You're looking it up, Pat.
And it just beat the master, the grand master of this game.
It's supposedly far more complex than chess.
It beat the master, and the master said, it's an illegal move.
You can't make that move.
And they started going back and looking at it, and it's not an illegal move.
It's just that it's just a move that no human had ever thought of.
And it won the game quickly.
And it apparently, they're saying now that AI can beat the top 50 masters all combined at this game.
Is it Kijai?
Maybe.
I don't know.
Anyways, I haven't played it for a while.
What do you think about his approach there, though?
It's interesting in that, you know, Elon Musk is a business guy, but certainly very friendly with government.
A big gets chunks of money every time he sells one of his products from the government.
Also, is a fan, a big green energy guy, like certainly is on board for over-regulation, even despite that last claim, at least in my opinion.
However, if you go and you over-regulate artificial intelligence, you wind up with what?
Japan, China, Russia, who is leading the way instead of us.
We're not going to be able to regulate that.
It needs to be a global, it needs to be.
I mean, global governance, though, is what that is.
Hang on just a second.
We have to come up with something like in the movie iRobot, you know, the three principles.
We have to come up with that.
See, go back to the game.
It doesn't think like we do.
So they're saying now that AI almost has to be introduced to humans like a baby.
And it's because you will say, wait, whoa, whoa, watch the furniture.
And you will say the same thing.
Hey, hey, hey, be careful of the baby.
And it won't know the difference between the baby and the furniture.
It doesn't know the, it doesn't know.
So you have to teach it the value of everything that it's going to encounter.
Well, we don't even know the value of life.
We're having that discussion now.
Life is sacred if.
Unless you're too young or too old or not wanted or too sick.
Or don't have a...

Don't have a life worth living.
Yeah, I mean, how many times have we heard, well, you have to have X, Y, or Z government program or life isn't worth living.
Right.
So they're saying that it could quickly learn in a completely different way than we're expecting.
Yeah, and that's what happened in the game is called Go.
That's what it is.
And so this machine called AlphaGo was taught how to play.
And at first it lost.
And then, but it learned.
And it developed this unusual style of playing that nobody else played like.
And so that's how it started.
And the grand master, who was only 19 years old, tried to play in the same unusual style and still lost.
So a little interesting.
You want to talk about, you want to talk about asymmetrical warfare.
It's AI.
Yeah.
AI will have, it will be so asymmetrical to our puny little brains and the way we think.
And it will be, it will literally be introducing alien thinking to the world.
It will not think like us.
It will learn and think in an entirely new way, which will be great.
There are going to be a lot of positive ramifications of that too, by the way.
It will be great.
Things that have stumped us like cancer cures and perpetual motion machines and all the things.
We can't even as a society agree on basic things like what is truth.
How are we going to tell the teach AI absolute truth when we don't even agree with absolute truth?
We don't even know what absolute truth.
We have no boundaries on anything.
If you can do it, you should do it.
There is no such thing as good pain.
There's no such thing as good failure in today's society.
So what do we become?
Elon Musk said, the transportation job sector accounts for 4.6 million jobs.
It's going to be the first thing to go fully autonomous.
The robots will do everything bar nothing.
Various technology companies are racing to build better AI systems to stay competitive in the market.
Facebook with Messenger, Apple with Siri, Amazon with Alexa, some major consumer examples around the corner.
AI-powered autonomous cars, service companies like Uber that is increasingly waiving AI into its ride-hailing app.
Musk said, we really need the regulators to come in and say, hey, guys, we need you to take a pause and make sure we thought this thing through.
When it's cool and the regulators are convinced it's safe to proceed, then you can go.
But otherwise, slow down.
Complicating matters is the fact that the biggest companies developing AI right now are publicly held and stockholders will demand the company aggressively stay ahead of the competition when it comes to developing AI.
I don't know how you can regulate this.
You can't.
You could try to do something where you come up with best practices among the industries involved and try to set it down those basic guidelines.
I mean, you could try to treat them like nuclear weapons.
I mean, that's the only other type of thing.
And again, even that is obviously not easily self-controlled.
But this stuff will start creating itself.
Once it's successful, it's going to advance on its own and you're not going to be able to stop it.

You're going to see robots that will learn to walk from nothing within hours.

He said, while killer robots are easy to visualize, the most dangerous threat is the deep intelligence in the network.
He said they could start a war by creating fake news and spoofing email accounts and sending out fake press releases as a way to manipulate information.
The pen today is mightier than the sword.
How are you going to outthink deep mind?
How are you going to prove that something, remember, the Russians just perfected the picture of Neil Armstrong on the moon, except the American flag was replaced with a Russian flag and the American flag was on his shoulder was replaced with CCCP.
And they offered, I think, $100,000 to anyone who could prove that that had been manipulated.
They now say that they have perfected artificial manipulation of pictures where you can't tell that that is not a real photo.
That no investigation can tell that that's been digitized and recreated, changed.
How are you going to, I mean, do you remember back in the 90s?
You won't believe your eyes.
You won't believe in anything anymore because everything will be fake and manipulated and you won't know what's real or not.
What I'm starting to fear is the actual willing start of that.
There's so much crap out there anymore.
I find it more and more difficult to care about it.
Like, I just, my, my answer to everyone lying all the time is to just not believe anybody and just blow it off, which as a society is not a good reaction.
Hopefully, I'm the only one doing that.
But I mean, I don't think I am.
I do not think I am.
You just wind up realizing, you know, more and more, so little of this stuff winds up mattering in your life that it's easy to just kind of blow it off and then there's nobody guarding the gate.
So Jason, who works for us, he's, he does research.
And he came in.
I came in this morning and went to his desk.
He was working on something.
He said, have you read Cheryl Atkinson's new book yet?
And I said, no.
He said, oh, you need to.
He said, a good portion of it's dedicated to you.
And I said, what are you talking about?

There's nothing really new in the Trump front that you need to know about with a Trump-Russia scandal.
That's not going to stop the news media from reporting on it for hours and hours and hours and hours.
But there is nothing really new here, except what the president's own people came out and what he tweeted about this weekend.
We have gone from there was no collusion to, well, collusion's not a crime, and there was no crime here.
And that actually is accurate so far.
What we know is fairly accurate.
That's why there's an investigation, and the media has nothing.
When you look at the poll numbers of the president, he's down to 36% approval rating.
Stu, were you surprised by that number?
Not really.
If you look at, he's been actually pretty stable approval rating-wise for about two months.
Since about mid-May was when he fell to the levels where he kind of is now.
He was at, what, 42?
Yes.
However, that's misleading.
The ABC, I think it's an ABC poll that came out and said that.
The reason why that looks so bad is because the last time the poll was taken was April.
So he had a falloff in mid-May that has he stayed pretty darn consistent since mid-May.
The issue is that poll was taken before that drop-off.
So it looks like a bigger drop than is real.
So he didn't, when you look at it, you know, as the weeks go by, he didn't really drop off because of the Russia scandal?
I mean, certainly not this late.
I mean, the latest meeting is probably a little too recent to see anything.
I mean, I don't know when would you say the Russia scandal started?
I mean, mid-May too much.
Would say, no, no, no.
I would say this scandal really, most people thought it was ridiculous.
You know, I don't think anybody has changed their minds.
No, I've changed my mind.
I did not think that we would ever find anything like this.
Like the email.
Like the email.
I didn't believe in collusion for a second.
No collusion.
That was ridiculous to believe.
Now you look at it and there was at least a willingness to collude.
And the Russians did reach out and say, hey, we're on your side.
I never thought that.
I never thought that.
I thought the Russians just wanted to cause chaos.
And, you know, I still believe that Donald Trump just may be a useful idiot to Vladimir Putin and not know that, you know, not know how this works.
But, you know, this guy that is his friend over in Moscow is known now, we found out over the weekend, is known as Putin's fixer.
So he is directly tied to fixing Putin.
Is that the same guy from the pageant?
Yes.
He's Putin's fixer.
Yes.
Okay, good.
But, you know, some of the, I don't think Donald Trump knows that or knew that.
Probably not.
Yeah.
Some of the, some of the poll stuff is a little overblown, I think, in that, you know, like they're talking about him being the least popular president at six months of any in measured history.
However, he also started as the least popular president of any in measured history.
So it's not, you know, yes, he's fallen.
He's fallen at a at a middle of the pack rate compared to other presidents.
It's not like, you know, I mean, Gerald Ford is the most crazy example.
He was a plus 68, and then he pardoned Nixon and he was minus six.
So he fell by 74 points.
Kind of the weird outlier there.
But Barack Obama fell more than Donald Trump has in the first six months.
Bill Clinton?
Oh, I think he's Jimmy Carter?
I think he has a strong base.
I don't know what, really, I don't know what you're going to do to shake his base.
I don't think there's anything you could do to shake his base.
Yeah, some polls are showing that he has literally lost zero support of people who are.
I believe that.
I believe that.
I think his support will go up if this is all that turns up.
I think his support will go back up.
The indication is the support is softening.
The polling shows when he started strong, they break it up to strong support and lighter support, that a lot of the people who were strong supporters have navigated themselves to lighter support.
So they still kind of approving, but not a strong approval.
I don't see a heck of a lot of evidence of that.
I don't either.
Like the guy we played last week from Washington, that talk show in Washington, who cried.
Yeah.
He's in desperate straits, it sounds like, financially right now.
He's just hanging on by the skin of his teeth.
And even he is not disappointed in the job Trump does because He believes Trump's been blocked in everything he wants to do.
May I suggest that the left caused this problem?
The media and the left caused this problem.
And it just started with the inauguration weekend when they were marching during his inauguration.
Well, what the hell are you marching against?
You knew what you were getting.
He's the president of the United States.
Everything from the very beginning has been a scandal.
And so when you actually stumble upon one, nobody cares or nobody's listening to you anymore.
You have zero credibility.
I think the media has caused this by not taking a moment after the election and saying, okay, okay, wait a minute.
What were we doing that caused half the country to look at us with a side eye?
For instance, we brought Jason in.
He said that he was, I stopped by his desk this morning and he was reading a book by Cheryl Atkinson.
What's it called?
The smear.
And I didn't even know this, but I apparently am a chapter in this book.
A good portion of a chapter.
Okay.
And what does it say?
What is the book about and what's it say?
Well, it's funny.
When we first, we didn't even know that you were going to be in this book.
So I was like, I better read all through this.
It was fascinating.
But we saw actually a picture of your eyes on the book.
And we're like, wait a minute, I was like, hmm.
So I skipped to this portion and it was all about how throughout history, the media has basically upped their game a little bit when they want to try to do a smear campaign or just spread fake news.
And they pinpointed when David Brock and Media Matters went after you at Fox News and they did their whole dump Fox campaign as a significant point where this completely spiraled out of control.
I cannot believe the stuff that you guys went through.
I mean, this is a crazy illustration.
She goes into talking about how David Brock and Media Matters at the time were so linked into the media.
Like the media would, they would like quote Media Matters and they would just take their research as just facts.
Oh, yeah.
Just absolutely.
It still happens.
And then so they would listen to every single word that you would say.
They hired a team of reporters, multiple writers who would already have these articles already written up.
They would seize on one little thing, blow it out of proportion, instantly distribute it.
Take it out of context, make it look like something it wasn't.
And that was actually based off of a model that they ran off of to ditch Imus.
They took that and were like, hmm, how can we take that model and up that game?

And that's actually the title of this section in the is Wrecking Beck.
But it was the same.
They hired private investigators.
And this is all in internal memos between David Brock and his guy named Carl Friesch, the guy that I think he tried to get Howard Dean elected.
He was a Democratic strategist.
They all went to work for Media Matters in an internal menu, a memo.
They were like, let's hire private investigators.
Let's follow him everywhere he goes.
Let's stake out every single event he goes to.
Let's follow him around.
Let's get any kind of dirt we can to use against this guy.
Yeah, it does sound familiar.
And then they launched other organizations underneath that that were getting 100,000, 200,000 donations.
Tons of money was going into this, specifically to target the people that were running ads on Fox.
It sounds exactly almost like they did the exact same playbook against O'Reilly, it sounds like.
The exact same thing.
No, it's, I mean, this is absolutely true.
We often say that.
We knew a lot of that was going on.
We sat in my office, I don't know how many days, and said, we could expose this today and no one will believe us.
No one will believe what's been going on.
I mean, they went through my trash.
And it was both on the right and the left.
I am going to write a book about my time at Fox because there's a lot to expose on the right and the left of what was done to me and my wife and my family.
It was shocking what was done.
And more so only because of where it was coming from on the right.
When the right started doing it, I lost all hope.
I was just like, oh my gosh.
And the only thing that saved me, how many times have we said this?
The only thing that saved me was I didn't have any skeletons in my closet.
I mean, they paid, we had both a right.
And let's be clear, it's just because you've opened the closet for everyone.
Oh, yeah.
It's not because you haven't done anything horrible.
No, I've done, you know, all kinds of stuff, but I just let everybody know and said, okay, this is who I am.
And so beach it to the punch.
I mean, it might not be the entire closet.
How much cash were they offering?
So this is what they're, this, they learned it there.
And this, their mistake is, I think they're overplaying their hand.
They're, they're too cocky now.
They think that they can just take Donald Trump down.
But Donald Trump, and this is why he's popular, is people instinctively know what Cheryl Atkinson has written.
And what's the name of this book?
It's the smear.
The smear.
How shady political operatives and fake news control what you see, what you think, and how you vote.
Okay, so people instinctively know that.
And it's interesting you say that because she makes the point at the very end.
She was like, so the entire machine that was built around this and mostly perfected by what they did to you was that, hey, you go after them, you go after them, you go after them, you get them fired, or you force an apology and then they'll have to retract or something.
That's how it's always worked.
That's how they've always played it.
But Trump was what she called the wild card.
He was the first one that didn't play it that way.
They came after him with an allegation and he shot right back at them.
And they were like, whoa, we don't know how to deal with this.
He didn't apologize.
He didn't step back.
And for the first time, his supporters were like, see, he has won.
That's why he won.
And then eventually they were like, wait a minute.
We don't trust anything that the media has been saying.
They were wrong about, you know, they said that there was no possible way he could win.
They were wrong about this.
They were wrong about that.
So now everyone has teamed up against him and it's completely backfired, completely backfired.
We have to get Cheryl on and have her on to talk about this.
Does she pick up at all that the right is now doing this?
Because the right use the same tactics.
They'll use the same tactics on us or anybody else that stood against Donald Trump.
She goes on both sides.
She talks about, I mean, she goes all the way back about how the left actually, David Brock was actually a conservative hitman back in the day.
Remember Clarence Thomas when he was going for running for Supreme Court?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And he went after, I think it was Anita Hill at the time.
We actually, the right, were actually some of the biggest perpetrators in all of this.
So she goes back and forth, back and forth the entire time.
Well, we're not different.
That's the one thing I did learn when I was at Fox.
We're not all that different.
There are those operatives that will do whatever they have to do just to win.

And the only way that you diffuse that is laugh at it.
Donald Trump should go on Saturday Night Live with Alec Baldwin and make fun of himself better than Alec Baldwin.
That will never happen.

These things came so fast.
I remember watching a rerun of Saturday Night Live, I guess it was maybe late last year, and it was from the time of the primary.
And it started with a monologue from Ted Cruz talking to the camera.
And in it, you're mentioned in the monologue.
Glenn Beck is mentioned in the monologue.
Think about what a weird life it is that Saturday Night Live could mention my boss, the guy I'm in the room with every single day, and we didn't even get word of it.
Like I didn't even know it occurred.
We went through how many months before we even discovered that it happened?
I mean, you're just learning about it right now by the look of your face.
Yeah.
I mean, and that's that has happened so many times now.
And it's wonderful.
It is actually like I admire the stamina of Trump to be constantly offended by it.
Like, it's like, to me, right, not sooner or later.
I don't know.
You do go dead inside.
We were just talking about that Cheryl Atkinson book where she, you know, she talks about, you know, what they did and how they perfected the art of the smear on me.
And Jason, who's reading the book, said, I can't believe what you guys endured.
And I think we were off the air when Stu said, yeah, it just came a point where it was every day and we didn't even pay attention to it anymore.
It's just, that's the way your life is.
And so it just doesn't, it really doesn't affect you.
And it's, it is pretty incredible how it still affects Donald Trump.
Yeah.
I mean, and that's why, you know, some of the people who point out that this Trump is just doing this as part of a game.
There's some like from the from our perspective, I don't believe it from him, but I mean, from our perspective, there is something to that.
And that there were times I remember reading articles from things like Media Matters and being like, this will just be a fun break.
I don't, like, I didn't look at it as an attack anymore.
It was just like, oh, how can we use this to make the show good?
Yeah.
Like, it was really like, it wasn't, it wasn't something where if I were Donald Trump, if I were on Donald Trump's staff today, I would be making a how to shake hands with Donald Trump video.
And I would be making fun of CNN did a second by second analysis of Donald Trump shaking the hands of the French president.
For 26 seconds, 26 seconds.
It was, I'll give you, it's weird.
He has this power handshake going on where he pulls you in and you can't get away from him.
And, you know, they talked about it.
I mean, even Hillary Clinton, I saw a report where she was learning the art of the handshake of how to break it off with him.
Now, he's perfected it, as you would see in this 28 seconds.
But it's, I mean, that's really, that's CNN.
That's what you're down to.
You're doing a literal second by second here, watch this move, watch this move, watch this move.
It was bizarre.
But I would, if I were Trump, I'd be doing the same thing, how to shake hands with Donald Trump and make fun of it instead of just bashing them.
Do something funny.
And you totally, they become a joke.
Instead of something that is angry, everybody starts to laugh at them.
And there's nothing that makes dictators or people who are high on themselves, like the media, more angry than making a joke about them.
