Flagrant - Andrew Schulz & Akaash Singh - JellyRoll on Eminem’s Greatness, Beyonce’s Country Album & How He Lost 100 lbs Aired: 2025-01-02 Duration: 01:39:57 === Exploding Weekend in New York (05:48) === [00:00:00] What's up everybody? [00:00:00] Welcome to Flagrant. [00:00:02] Today is the second coming of a dear, brave, courageous friend of ours who has kind of just absolutely exploded. [00:00:09] I mean, he had a weekend in New York where he was not only headlining Madison Square Garden, was not only the musical guest for SNL, he was not only performing for all of Central Park or something. [00:00:21] I don't even know what the hell is that. [00:00:22] That was crazy. [00:00:24] He managed, this is what a mensch this guy is. [00:00:26] He managed to even make time to come out and see one of my little stand-up shows at the comedy cellar. [00:00:32] Give it up for our dear friend, Jelly Reform. [00:00:38] I have to say, like, I felt so, I was telling my wife this, I felt like so guilty because I had promised my wife that we would go out. [00:00:45] We would go out to this place in the Hamptons that we have. [00:00:48] And I was like, I promised we're going to say, and then your weekend in New York happened. [00:00:52] And I was just like, you know, this is the one weekend away. [00:00:56] We're away every single week and on the road. [00:00:58] And everything's crazy with the special. [00:01:00] And I'm like, I feel so bad. [00:01:01] I'm going to miss. [00:01:02] I'm like, all right, at least I'll make MSJ dome. [00:01:05] At least I'll make SNL. [00:01:06] I'm feeling the worst fucking friend. [00:01:07] And you could have let me feel okay by just leaving, but instead you're like, I'll just come to you, baby. [00:01:13] I'll just go do one of your servants. [00:01:14] That's what a fucking great thing. [00:01:15] What a day roll. [00:01:16] What the fuck? [00:01:17] You're a brother. [00:01:18] So you make me feel like a real piece of shit. [00:01:20] Tell me. [00:01:20] Tell me, Don. [00:01:21] Tell me. [00:01:22] You're a piece of shit. [00:01:23] Why? [00:01:23] Why? [00:01:23] Because we went to that. [00:01:27] The boys did represent on y'all's behalf. [00:01:29] You should have charged them. [00:01:30] First of all, just notice. [00:01:31] I am a traveling man, Bubble. [00:01:32] So y'all know me in real life. [00:01:34] Nope. [00:01:34] No, I felt that in my soul, man, because God knows if me and Bunny get a weekend away, man, listen, I don't care if Jesus comes to Nashville before God. [00:01:43] You know how much I love the Lord. [00:01:45] Man, we certainly got us a weekend, baby. [00:01:47] Come on. [00:01:47] God bless me. [00:01:48] God is everywhere. [00:01:49] Dude, he'll come to us. [00:01:50] He's been coming to me. [00:01:51] You're getting skinny now. [00:01:52] How much are you down? [00:01:53] How much have you been down a hundred? [00:01:54] This globe is less. [00:01:55] This is the first time I've daddy to say it. [00:01:56] I'm down 100. [00:01:57] You're down 100. [00:01:58] Wow, three dishes. [00:02:00] I'm down a hundred. [00:02:00] How's this dick game? [00:02:01] Man, crazy. [00:02:02] It's coming back. [00:02:02] It's coming down to me. [00:02:04] Talk about somebody. [00:02:05] Talk about it. [00:02:06] My wife just had this conversation because, you know, I've struggled with my weight my whole life and she's seen me get really big and seen me lose weight before. [00:02:13] So I was like, yo, am I tripping? [00:02:14] Or is like it not, it was a lot faster last time as far as even losing the weight and getting the dick back. [00:02:20] So I was like, am I tripping? [00:02:22] And she's like, listen, my wife is the most honest human on earth. [00:02:25] She goes, Daddy, you're a little older now. [00:02:28] We might have to just get that thing cut off. [00:02:30] Because I'm like a kangaroo with a pouch above my pick. [00:02:33] You know what I'm saying? [00:02:34] When I lose weight, the pouch goes back. [00:02:36] The pecker comes out. [00:02:37] So I found myself in this jump's position where I'm losing the weight here, but the pouch is still pouching. [00:02:43] You know what I'm saying? [00:02:44] Yeah, I got to look exactly. [00:02:45] Oh, that's so. [00:02:47] No, it's not. [00:02:48] No, that's fire, dude. [00:02:50] Because it did work. [00:02:51] You know what I love about y'all? [00:02:52] It's my biggest week. [00:02:54] That's how we started it. [00:02:56] The biggest podcast ever had. [00:02:57] Good to see y'all again. [00:02:59] I like this. [00:03:00] I like this that you have that nice little area. [00:03:02] That's because you got to make a work for it. [00:03:04] Listen, I bet you want it. [00:03:05] Listen. [00:03:06] It took a hand warmer for us. [00:03:08] This is now fun. [00:03:12] No, I feel good, though, man. [00:03:13] I'm losing weight. [00:03:14] I was telling you, that's why we quit talking about it. [00:03:17] I'm hitting that moment where you start to hit a stride. [00:03:20] Okay. [00:03:21] In weight loss or just at least in everything. [00:03:23] Like just the clarity. [00:03:24] The clarities coming with the weight loss, the music, the writing, the tour, the production, but even down to like my discipline of like, I have, I don't want to say I've overcome it, but dude, I haven't ate anything. [00:03:38] It's been so long. [00:03:38] I don't even think about it. [00:03:40] Really? [00:03:40] Like, I just thought about this the other day that I've been such an obese human and fought food addiction so long, Andrew, that I would walk into rooms and make assessments of what was in there that I could snack. [00:03:51] You're like, Jason Warren. [00:03:53] You're like all that super fat shit. [00:03:55] I'd be like, yo, there's a can of Snickers. [00:03:56] I got a little bow here. [00:03:58] There's a dressing sticker. [00:03:59] These kind of things. [00:04:00] You ought to be having the cans with the little baby Snickers on. [00:04:03] Don't watch y'all seeing them. [00:04:06] I like a little bit of a bad thing. [00:04:07] I like that. [00:04:07] That's crazy. [00:04:08] You think it's that box? [00:04:10] And now it's like, man, I'm in the dressing room the other day and there was a, I don't, I didn't even notice the candy in the dressing room until somebody said, do you want one of these? [00:04:18] Oh, yeah. [00:04:18] And then I was like, just, I'm not even thinking like that no more. [00:04:22] Like, it's just not. [00:04:23] I remember when I caught that with drugs. [00:04:26] Yeah. [00:04:26] Like the first time that I found myself in an environment where people were doing cocaine and I wasn't like, got to get out of the room. [00:04:33] You know what I mean? [00:04:34] I was just like, oh, yeah, I used to do that. [00:04:35] That was all right. [00:04:35] You know what I mean? [00:04:37] You struggle with drugs. [00:04:38] Like you said, my family, we have a lot of addiction, but like I noticed my dad put that pleasure. [00:04:47] That's fun. [00:04:48] Addiction is not fun. [00:04:49] You love that about it. [00:04:50] It destroys families. [00:04:51] But no, I noticed like my brother stopped drinking. [00:04:53] My dad stopped drinking. [00:04:54] I went to food. [00:04:54] I have a little bit of a food thing, too, but they're the same. [00:04:57] Is it just like an addictive personality? [00:04:58] You let go of one for a lesser one, and then eventually, hopefully, you let go of food for maybe work or whatever. [00:05:03] But like, you think that's just a progression of it? [00:05:05] I'm not 100% sure because I was fat and doing cocaine. [00:05:11] I could jump in fucking chats off with that skill set. [00:05:14] But I found myself, I don't know, man. [00:05:17] I think it's for me is I'm just starting to do the real work on me. [00:05:20] And I'm starting to really start to, you know, come to peace and find myself in situations. [00:05:25] What does that, what does that entail the work on you? [00:05:27] As cliche as it sounds, I've done like a lot of like therapy, just a lot of self-help. [00:05:32] A lot of what I consume. [00:05:34] You know, I didn't realize that not just what I was consuming was making me huge and making me feel bad and inflamed, but what I was listening to, the kind of stuff, the rabbit holes I found myself going in. [00:05:46] Like these are, you know, just like darker shit. === Finding Peace After Cocaine (14:58) === [00:05:48] Comedy. [00:05:49] You know what I'm talking about? [00:05:50] No, no, no, no. [00:05:51] That's the shit that gets you around. [00:05:53] I can laugh about this. [00:05:54] This was like, you find yourself in just like, you know, dark holes of just what you even listen to or intake. [00:06:00] And then your timeline becomes full of it. [00:06:02] You know what I mean? [00:06:04] Dude, that's my problem with the algorithm. [00:06:05] Yeah. [00:06:06] It's the wild west, dude. [00:06:07] You accidentally stumble on one dude, get his head blown off in Venezuela, and for three days, you're like, I can't touch my phone. [00:06:14] You know what I mean? [00:06:15] It's wild. [00:06:17] But I get in them dark, and those paths for me wasn't always internet rabbit holes. [00:06:21] These are the self-ones that I struggle with. [00:06:24] You know what I mean? [00:06:24] When I just get alone in these little rabbit holes. [00:06:26] And I'm doing better at those now, man. [00:06:27] I'm just thinking better, dude. [00:06:28] I'm fucking feeling better. [00:06:30] I knew you were doing well, man. [00:06:31] I knew that you were making like ridiculous money because you brought a guy out to dinner with us and he was, and you said, this is my philanthropy guy. [00:06:41] Wow. [00:06:42] Are you Mr. Beast? [00:06:44] I was like, what? [00:06:45] He's like, yeah, he handles all my philanthropy. [00:06:48] I like that. [00:06:49] That's a different level of money when you're like, other people need some of this money. [00:06:53] This is the guy that gives it away. [00:06:54] Yeah, you got to give away your money. [00:06:57] We're married for that. [00:06:58] We don't need that. [00:07:00] That is a problem. [00:07:03] We don't need to. [00:07:05] You got to stop her from giving it away. [00:07:09] She thinks Hermes is a charity. [00:07:11] This French motherfucker is making billions. [00:07:14] We're 16 minutes in, and I'm like, I fucked up. [00:07:18] Why do I do this every time? [00:07:20] Yesterday, like, Billy's Lee Broken. [00:07:22] Stream it. [00:07:23] Stream it right now. [00:07:24] Peelers Lee Broken. [00:07:25] Billy broke real quick. [00:07:26] Peelsley broke the rest of us. [00:07:28] This guy owns his master. [00:07:31] Fuck. [00:07:34] God, man. [00:07:35] I mean, this guy's like a handsome. [00:07:38] He looked like Billy Cruddup. [00:07:39] You thought he was? [00:07:40] I thought he was Billy Cruddup for the whole time. [00:07:42] I was like, oh my God, we got fucking Billy Cruddup with us. [00:07:44] You know, the best part is it was such a Schultz moment. [00:07:47] I often forget you and Tony are my two friends that I forget about this until I'm out with y'all. [00:07:51] Oh, yeah, I know where you're going. [00:07:53] That y'all are knife of men. [00:07:55] You know what I'm saying? [00:07:56] But you're just like a knife of a man. [00:07:58] You know what I mean? [00:07:58] I think I know what you mean. [00:08:00] Right, you get it. [00:08:00] Like the room, this my dude is quietly observing. [00:08:04] He's maybe interjected once or twice just enough results to go doop. [00:08:08] So, how do you fit into this? [00:08:10] What's your story? [00:08:11] Because I didn't get it. [00:08:12] I was like, why the fuck is Billy Cruddup right here without seeing sushi at Zeroba? [00:08:16] The way you are with Tandy. [00:08:17] The way you are with Candy, bro. [00:08:19] That's how he is with God. [00:08:21] I needed to make sense of it. [00:08:22] And then Jelly goes, oh, that's my philanthropy guy. [00:08:25] I'm like, damn, Billy Credup doing rough right now, bro. [00:08:30] That was the worst philanthropy guy? [00:08:32] That was the worst way to frame him. [00:08:33] His name's Miles Adcox. [00:08:35] Yeah. [00:08:36] Yeah, he does look a lot like him in that one picture. [00:08:38] But he actually does a lot of in the mental health space. [00:08:41] He owns a big company called OnSight in Tennessee. [00:08:44] There's one in San Diego. [00:08:45] It's like a mental wellness retreat. [00:08:47] It's done a lot for me, a lot for me and my wife. [00:08:51] Yeah, right. [00:08:53] Fuck you doing. [00:08:54] How do you even do that? [00:08:59] Nah, nah, nah. [00:09:02] Nah, it's over. [00:09:03] San Diego. [00:09:03] How do you find a way to get it? [00:09:06] How do you find that picture? [00:09:08] Yeah, I mean, Anchorage or something. [00:09:10] This is already a beautiful voice. [00:09:12] Let's fucking go. [00:09:15] But it's going so well for Jelly, man. [00:09:18] I totally crossed over. [00:09:19] It was going so much. [00:09:20] It was going so much. [00:09:22] I'm glad I did this after Saturday. [00:09:24] Exactly. [00:09:25] Never went to that. [00:09:26] Exactly. [00:09:28] Publicists is fired tomorrow. [00:09:30] You should have watched on your music video. [00:09:33] Every time we hang out, it's just a little dip. [00:09:36] But then it goes even higher. [00:09:38] It goes down to go up. [00:09:39] It's how it worked. [00:09:40] That's the asshole army, babe. [00:09:43] All right, we got to get Billy Credup off the street. [00:09:44] Yeah, yeah. [00:09:44] I keep looking at it like, oh, it's scary. [00:09:46] What did he? [00:09:46] I don't even remember what he was in. [00:09:48] No, but he, I came in and I was like, look, man, we do give away a lot of money. [00:09:52] Yeah. [00:09:53] And I was like, I do need somebody to help me. [00:09:54] I don't have, I can't, man, I feel so bougie saying this. [00:09:58] No, because y'all are related because this is just real life. [00:10:00] This is how I would talk if we went on a pod. [00:10:02] I just have too much incoming to give anything the proper time it deserves almost. [00:10:07] You know what I mean? [00:10:08] Like in any major business. [00:10:09] But when I know that I feel like it's been on my heart that I need to give back. [00:10:13] So he's so cool. [00:10:14] He's got such a big infrastructure for his other business. [00:10:16] He'll just put his people on it. [00:10:17] Like, we all, you know, go find this is what he wants to do. [00:10:19] He wants to do this amount of soup kitchens, this amount of juvenile facilities. [00:10:23] And now it's caused a chain reaction where when I go to venues, now, you know, how venues give us our gifts when we play these arenas? [00:10:29] You've been doing them longer than me. [00:10:30] We get gifts. [00:10:30] They give you jerseys and a box and all kinds of stuff. [00:10:32] Everyone tries to give you something cooler in the last arena. [00:10:34] It's the coolest shit ever. [00:10:36] But now they'll always all donate a check to a charity in that city in like honor of what they know I stand for. [00:10:43] I still get my jersey, right? [00:10:45] Yeah, I'll still get the jersey. [00:10:47] Don't give it to them kids. [00:10:48] Yo, the boss is Celtic because let me hold the thing. [00:10:50] Oh, I saw you. [00:10:51] That was sick. [00:10:53] It was crazy. [00:10:54] Yeah, they got like 18 on this. [00:10:55] You know what's crazy? [00:10:56] I stood over and took pictures for like three minutes before they were like, you can touch it. [00:10:59] I was like, I was shot up. [00:11:00] I'd have been finger fucking this stuff. [00:11:04] It was crazy. [00:11:05] Yeah. [00:11:06] So now it's become a thing where, you know, so yeah, I have a guy that really is a great guy, man. [00:11:09] So he helps with that because we try to do a lot, man. [00:11:11] We try to help as many people as possible. [00:11:13] I mean, he's also a great guy. [00:11:14] You're the great connector, I've realized, because you have this song. [00:11:18] Oh, that was it. [00:11:19] You also did Fallon. [00:11:20] We were watching Fallon that night. [00:11:21] I can't believe I left out one of the things that was part of that weekend as well. [00:11:24] So you and MGK do Fallon. [00:11:26] MGK is hanging out with you. [00:11:28] Also, great guy. [00:11:29] Great guy. [00:11:31] That's why I'm bringing it. [00:11:31] That's why I'm great guy. [00:11:33] It was funny. [00:11:34] We had this moment where he was like, yeah, I don't understand. [00:11:36] Why don't people think that I'm like a nice guy sometimes? [00:11:38] And I'm like, well, let's look at the outfits a little. [00:11:41] And I remember he like looked at somebody and was like, okay, I get that one. [00:11:45] It was really like a pink furry shirt. [00:11:46] He's like, yeah, that one I get. [00:11:47] He's like, I like wearing stupid shit, but that was a little far. [00:11:50] No, it was the best because he'd go, I stand on that one. [00:11:52] But yeah, that one was horrible. [00:11:53] Yeah. [00:11:54] It's so funny to watch you and him at that moment. [00:11:56] No, it was great dude. [00:11:57] And that is what often happens, I think, in this business is that you might have a perception of people, and then you get to a point where you start meeting them, and you're like, a lot of times, surprised at them being like really nice people and like sweet people. [00:12:09] All right, Cucks, let's do some dates. [00:12:11] January 9th through 11th. [00:12:13] I don't know why they gave me those dates, to be honest with you, now that I think about it. [00:12:16] Sky Splinters in Tampa. [00:12:17] I feel a little way about that. [00:12:18] I'm going to be honest. [00:12:19] January 23rd through 25th, Sacramento. [00:12:21] Those tickets will sell out. [00:12:22] I promise you. [00:12:23] They sold out two years ago, and I wasn't even really selling tickets back then. [00:12:26] January 31st through February 1st, West Des Moines, Iowa. [00:12:32] Again, I cannot believe there's an East Des Moines, but West Des Moines, Iowa, I'm going to be at the funny bone. [00:12:36] February 21st and 22nd, I'm going to be in Brea, California. [00:12:39] You know, you guys love me. [00:12:40] February 28th through March for March 1st, I'm going to be in Nashville, Tennessee. [00:12:43] We got more dates coming. [00:12:45] I think I'm going to be in San Diego one of those times as well. [00:12:47] Either way, guys, come through. [00:12:49] Love y'all. [00:12:49] Akashing.com for tickets. [00:12:51] Thank you so much. [00:12:52] This year was awesome. [00:12:53] Sold out, I think, shows for six months straight this weekend. [00:12:56] I had the first show I didn't sell out. [00:12:58] But still such a fucking awesome year. [00:13:00] Love you guys. [00:13:00] Thank you so much. [00:13:01] Let's get back to the show. [00:13:02] The interesting thing about that is you're with MGK. [00:13:05] You have a song with MGK. [00:13:07] You also have a song with Eminem. [00:13:09] Yeah. [00:13:10] Oh, these guys are mortal enemies. [00:13:12] Yeah. [00:13:12] And somehow you are so talented that you were positioned in between both of them. [00:13:17] And they're like, I still want to work with Jellyroll. [00:13:19] Yeah. [00:13:19] How do you manage that? [00:13:20] Man, the first thing is honesty. [00:13:23] Okay. [00:13:23] Right? [00:13:24] You got to come into both parties honest. [00:13:26] How do you talk to M? [00:13:27] Well, so Paul is, and I always bring up Paul in interviews because I feel like he never gets brought up enough. [00:13:33] Paul is Paul Rosenberg. [00:13:34] Paul has been Eminem's manager since Eminem's had a manager. [00:13:38] Lifelong Detroit homie kind of shit. [00:13:40] Like really cool inception story. [00:13:43] Cool story about Eminem is his, I believe his publicist, his assistant who kind of runs the record label. [00:13:50] I don't want to call her assistant because she's so much more. [00:13:52] Sure. [00:13:53] But he's had like the same four people around him for his entire career. [00:13:57] Wow. [00:13:58] Entire career. [00:13:59] Amazing. [00:14:00] So you don't really talk to, you know, he's the wizard, man. [00:14:03] He's the biggest seller artist of our generation. [00:14:05] He sold more records than Elvis. [00:14:07] You know what I mean? [00:14:08] I mean, he's, it's, it's insane when you think about how big, you know, you don't, you don't really get to see the wizard a lot. [00:14:12] Yeah. [00:14:13] But I've seen the wizard now and hung out with him. [00:14:15] And he's a fucking great guy. [00:14:16] Okay. [00:14:16] You know what I mean? [00:14:17] He's really down to earth. [00:14:18] He's super honest and he's very intentional with his words. [00:14:21] And we, I mean, we've hung out on video set for 12 hours. [00:14:24] Wow. [00:14:24] Just like dicking around. [00:14:26] To show you his personality, he walks in my green room going, somebody shave me. [00:14:31] I need some jealousy. [00:14:32] He said, we met you a deal there. [00:14:35] And just fucking funny. [00:14:36] That's the first thing around. [00:14:37] So the first thing you had, no, no, no, the first one we have when we're singing. [00:14:39] I'll tell you that story too, but just let me praise Paul for two more minutes. [00:14:42] Okay. [00:14:42] He deserves it. [00:14:44] Paul has always been trying to get me and M together. [00:14:47] Like every time I've seen Paul, he's like, if Marshall don't understand anybody else, he's going to get you. [00:14:54] When he gets you, he's going to get you. [00:14:55] And he's telling me this for like since I met him when he was working with Yellow Wolf a decade ago. [00:14:59] Wow. [00:15:00] You know what I mean? [00:15:01] So like Paul has been that champion for me the whole way. [00:15:04] So Paul calls and he's like, send me the Save Me record. [00:15:08] And I'm like, y'all mind if I tell this story first because it's hard to get another. [00:15:11] Please, because I don't think I've told this one like his. [00:15:14] So Paul calls and he's like, send the stems to the save me record. [00:15:17] He calls John Manealy my manager. [00:15:18] Now keep in mind, John Manealy managed Jay for a while. [00:15:21] So they've already worked. [00:15:22] They have a real, they're friends for real for 30 years now. [00:15:26] They've been in the business together for 25 years. [00:15:28] So he hits, he hits John Manealy. [00:15:30] He's like, yo, send over Save Me. [00:15:32] I think Marshall wants to fuck with it. [00:15:34] And that's all he said. [00:15:36] So, you know, me, I'm like, you know how rap works. [00:15:38] I'm like, I'm fixing to get an Eminem remix. [00:15:41] Like, he's just going to drop a verse in my lap one day. [00:15:43] Like, I don't know when, and I don't care. [00:15:45] Whenever it comes, just thank you, God, you know? [00:15:48] And I had already told Kells that story back then. [00:15:52] And Kells is a real friend, you know, where Kells is just like, yo, it's huge. [00:15:57] Keep me posted. [00:15:58] You know what I'm saying? [00:15:59] Like, he's cheering for me. [00:16:00] Like, at heart, his heart is like, you know what I mean? [00:16:03] Like, yo, man, that's, I can't, you don't have a problem. [00:16:05] Kells being MGK. [00:16:06] Yeah, yeah. [00:16:06] Sorry, Kells being MGK. [00:16:08] He's like, yo, you don't have a problem. [00:16:09] So this is like, I probably shouldn't timestamp it too much, but this is 18 months ago. [00:16:13] Oh, wow. [00:16:14] Yeah. [00:16:15] So I get to the point I don't think it's coming. [00:16:17] I'm kind of just like, ah, it didn't happen. [00:16:18] It's whatever. [00:16:18] You know, it works. [00:16:19] And then I get the call. [00:16:20] It's like, yo, it's going on the record. [00:16:22] It's closing the record. [00:16:23] I'm like, what? [00:16:24] Second single. [00:16:25] They want to shoot a video. [00:16:26] Now, keep in mind, me and Kells are, we hung out at the Grammys. [00:16:31] We had both lost and we ended up on what we call the loser tour that night. [00:16:34] We went to all these like weird, crazy, like Illuminati parties. [00:16:39] It was so fucking weird, dude. [00:16:41] And we went to like three or four of them. [00:16:43] It was no, no, no, no baby old bashes. [00:16:46] But I went in and we went to all these weird parties and he had played me the idea for Lonely Road that night. [00:16:52] So this is, you know, three, four months after me and Kells have already worked on two or three records together. [00:16:56] We're hanging out every day. [00:16:57] I'm in LA a bunch. [00:16:58] I don't have a friend out there. [00:16:59] I only know him. [00:17:00] It's like, still, you talk about when I pull up on you, Bubba, you're my only friend here. [00:17:04] What do you mean I'm going to pull up on you? [00:17:06] I don't know nobody. [00:17:09] You're my only friend. [00:17:10] Well, that makes me feel less special. [00:17:14] I'm still like, I love you. [00:17:15] I'm looking for my mother. [00:17:16] You know what I'm saying? [00:17:18] So me and him are hanging every day. [00:17:20] And I'm like, yo, this Eminem thing's real. [00:17:23] I was like, it's fixing to come out and they want to do all this. [00:17:26] Now we're already in there. [00:17:27] Now, on the other side, John's having to do straight business with Paul. [00:17:30] Like, hey, Paul, you know, Kells and Jelly have known each other for 15 years on and off. [00:17:35] They were beefing, Jelly distant. [00:17:36] I was a hater back then. [00:17:37] It's a whole fun, other fun story. [00:17:39] It's like, but they've, you know, they're buddies. [00:17:40] And here's where Paul's a good dude, too. [00:17:42] Paul's like, yo, man, we love Jelly Mitch. [00:17:44] Appreciate you telling us. [00:17:45] Yeah. [00:17:46] Never got brought up. [00:17:47] Wow. [00:17:48] My heart is always to bring them together one day because I see so much more of them in each other than they know. [00:17:56] You know what I mean? [00:17:56] Now, I hadn't really brought it up to Marshall yet because I'm just still kind of glad that I'm still in that circumference to be able to have them conversations. [00:18:03] But I do see like, there's so much more in them than not. [00:18:06] But like I also gave Kells some perspective too, it's like, we all grew up watching Eminem take over the game early. [00:18:12] Like if you got mentioned in an Eminem song, it was like getting mentioned in a comedy special. [00:18:17] Yeah. [00:18:18] You were on fucking fire. [00:18:19] Yeah. [00:18:19] You couldn't be hotter if you got mentioned in an Eminem special or an HBO special. [00:18:24] You know what I'm saying? [00:18:25] An Eminem song or an HBO special is what you wanted your name to be brought up. [00:18:28] I also think that that beef between MGK and Eminem, like that verse from MGK was, I think, the most underrated, actually. [00:18:37] I thought it was rated. [00:18:38] Like, I think most people looked at that and they were like, whoa, this was way better than I thought. [00:18:43] And then I think Eminem's verse, I don't think people thought that he absolutely knocked him out the park. [00:18:48] Like, I thought that the reaction to it was, this is more competitive than we thought it was going to be. [00:18:54] So I think that MGK's respect went up. [00:18:56] Well, what's interesting is over time, it's changed. [00:18:59] In the moment, I remember that being the response. [00:19:01] And now when people look back on it, they're like, oh, Eminem ended MGK's rap career because MGK transitioned in other stuff. [00:19:07] And so I think the narrative got written, rewritten that way. [00:19:09] But I remember in the moment, people being like, yo, I don't think MGK necessarily got destroyed. [00:19:14] But the only thing I'll say to touch on this because I'm on a slippery slope. [00:19:18] Yeah, you know, just not. [00:19:21] Everything Andrew just said right now, I want the flagrant listeners to know he said to MGK. [00:19:27] I watched y'all have this same conversation, which I think is super cool. [00:19:30] But here's how I feel. [00:19:32] Look, man, they're going to get together one day eventually. [00:19:36] It's inevitable. [00:19:36] The world's a circle. [00:19:38] You know what I mean? [00:19:38] And I think that they're going to find each other's heart more than they don't. [00:19:41] And if they never do connect that way, I think that it did more for both of them than it did to hurt either one of them. [00:19:46] Whether either party ever fully acknowledged that. [00:19:49] What MGK did after that, I don't think had anything to do with the beef as much as it was just heart and what his spirit was because he technically dropped, I think, Hotel Diablo was the project right after the M Beef. [00:20:00] Don't quote me, but it was the two, it was the mainstream sellout, and it was the um Tickets to My Downfall that changed. [00:20:07] Yeah, we're talking about a couple of the biggest albums, they'll go down as the biggest albums of this generation and pop and pop punk and punk rock and maybe in rock and roll, like new music from new recording artists in 10 years of rock music. [00:20:22] I think those albums will be the biggest selling. [00:20:24] Because that's the thing that, like, let that one sit. [00:20:26] Yeah, no, and I told him this shit too. [00:20:28] Like, what I saw is him as a rapper, knew him as a rapper. [00:20:32] Then I saw him become an arena acts rock star. [00:20:37] Yeah. [00:20:38] And I knew that I was getting old because I was like, what is happening? [00:20:42] What happened? [00:20:44] Did you feel that way as well? [00:20:45] I didn't know when the switch happened. === Making a Real Statement (08:25) === [00:20:47] But he went to arenas. [00:20:49] Yeah. [00:20:49] And so something must have been resonating with the rock music on a different level than rap. [00:20:54] I also think it's hard to be like an arena rap star. [00:20:58] Like, how many arena rap acts are there? [00:21:00] You know, we were talking about this before. [00:21:02] Let's see. [00:21:03] M's like stadium. [00:21:05] Yeah, MM stadiums for sure. [00:21:06] Eminem stadium. [00:21:06] But like arenas around like Drake. [00:21:09] How tall? [00:21:09] Let's go step deeper. [00:21:10] Eminem's a plus one at most stadiums. [00:21:12] So he can do two stadium shows. [00:21:15] He's a plus one at most stadiums in America. [00:21:17] That's great. [00:21:18] I mean, yeah. [00:21:19] I mean, that's that's like Taylor Swift's shit. [00:21:21] Yeah. [00:21:21] 100%. [00:21:22] Wow. [00:21:23] Yeah. [00:21:23] He was Taylor of rap. [00:21:24] That's crazy. [00:21:24] Yeah. [00:21:25] Even now to this day. [00:21:26] But let's say what are the arena acts? [00:21:27] It's like Kendrick, Kendrick, Nikki. [00:21:30] I think Nikki did like this unbelievable following. [00:21:34] Nikki did arena. [00:21:34] She came to Nashville and Travis. [00:21:36] Travis. [00:21:37] Travis. [00:21:40] Is Megan and Glow? [00:21:41] Is it a Megan and Glow the package right now? [00:21:43] Because they're doing arenas right now. [00:21:44] Megan and Glow together are doing arenas. [00:21:46] But that's still packaged. [00:21:47] Like, I'm curious. [00:21:48] And maybe Megan Glow is red hot. [00:21:50] Yeah. [00:21:51] I fucking love everything. [00:21:53] She is so Memphis. [00:21:54] First of all, she's the best human ever. [00:21:56] Like when I met her, she was, I was like, I grew up going back and forth to Memphis my whole life, like coming up on her 3.6 mafia. [00:22:01] I was like, please let her be as Memphis as it looks. [00:22:04] Let it like off camera, let it be as Memphis as it looks. [00:22:06] Oh, she is so Memphis. [00:22:08] She is, it's like talking to Project Pat. [00:22:12] That is awesome, dude. [00:22:13] It is incredible how Memphis she is. [00:22:15] But they're doing their full-blown arenas now. [00:22:17] No, they're killing. [00:22:18] Hold on, who in the backpack rap space? [00:22:20] Say that. [00:22:21] I hate to use that phrase, but like, who from that space? [00:22:23] Suicide Boys are doing an arena tour right now. [00:22:25] Whether you acknowledge them as rappers or not, I think they're sick as shit. [00:22:28] I love the Suicide Boys. [00:22:30] But I know they're doing arenas because we're on their ass every night. [00:22:33] They're playing Tuesdays and Thursdays like us. [00:22:35] Wow. [00:22:35] And they're selling almost clean everywhere they're going. [00:22:38] Wow. [00:22:38] Oh, that's awesome. [00:22:39] I mean, it's just a rare thing. [00:22:40] It's like, especially in the rap space, it's rarefied air. [00:22:44] It's listened to as rap music is. [00:22:47] When they did the West Coast package, I remember they did like the whatever they labeled the West Coast package and had Cube. [00:22:54] Oh, I mean, when 50 went back, 50 went out and did it. [00:22:57] He was doing it. [00:22:59] But then again, you got one of the biggest rappers ever. [00:23:01] It's like Kanye. [00:23:02] Yeah. [00:23:03] It's just a hard thing for rappers to do. [00:23:06] For whatever reason, for as much as we listen to rap, as popular as rappers are, as like seen and noticed and recognized, it doesn't translate to ticket sales in the way that like maybe country does, definitely doesn't as rock. [00:23:19] EDM, you could argue, is like over-indexed it. [00:23:21] There are EDM DJs that I have no fucking clue their name. [00:23:24] There's an EDM DJ named Anima Anima that is doing the sphere in Las Vegas, and they've added shows. [00:23:32] So now they're at like six or seven shows or something like that for New Year's Eve plus others. [00:23:37] Did you guys know who this guy was? [00:23:39] I mean, no disrespect to him. [00:23:40] I did. [00:23:41] You guys did it. [00:23:41] You did. [00:23:42] Do you know Fred again? [00:23:43] Oh, he's that guy's fucking massive. [00:23:45] Fred again was on our new artist Grammy list this year. [00:23:49] That's how I kind of got hip to him, you know? [00:23:52] And I was joking with Noah about it. [00:23:53] We were joking about all the who all we were, me, Noah, and I think Gracie Abrams were all talking at the table. [00:23:59] And I said, the funny part of this is, I don't even think Fred again came to the Grammys, by the way. [00:24:02] I'm not sure. [00:24:03] I don't think he even showed up. [00:24:04] But if he did, I didn't get to meet him. [00:24:06] And he's going to make more money than all of us put together when it's all said. [00:24:08] Yeah, it's crazy. [00:24:09] He's doing crazy. [00:24:10] He's doing a stadium show where he'll like have a B stage, not getting like the nosebleeds. [00:24:14] They did a wild thing. [00:24:16] They did a okay, I'm going to fuck this up probably, but with MSG, what they wanted to do is go on sale the day before the show. [00:24:25] So they want a 24-hour notice. [00:24:27] And I think that they couldn't because of like a ticket master regulation, some shit like that. [00:24:31] So then maybe it was like a few days. [00:24:33] They sell it out immediately and then they do the show. [00:24:35] And then for the show, I'm going to butcher this and somebody will fucking correct me, whatever. [00:24:40] They keep the lights on. [00:24:41] I think they start the show at like in the afternoon and they keep the lights on until it's eight or 10 or whatever it is. [00:24:49] And that moment, the lights switch and just imagine the energy building, building, building. [00:24:54] And then flight. [00:24:56] He treated the MSG like it was a club because it wasn't even like the normal end stage. [00:25:01] This was like it mixed in the room. [00:25:03] And then he did it with Skrillix. [00:25:05] Okay, okay, okay. [00:25:06] Because I think we spoke to his manager when we were in Vegas. [00:25:10] Anyway, what a creative idea. [00:25:13] Yeah. [00:25:13] Oh, yeah. [00:25:14] Bro, he did one where he was at, I think it was at the Hollywood Bowl, and he got all the people that came to his very first show when he went to LA. [00:25:21] And it was like 200, 300 people, and put them in the Hollywood Bowl in one section and did a private show for those like 300 people the day before the actual original LA Coliseum show. [00:25:32] He created like this LED moat around the entire bowl of a stadium so that everyone had seats and then did the B stage. [00:25:42] Excuse me, man. [00:25:43] He's sitting outside the box. [00:25:44] I wonder who's doing all that production for him. [00:25:46] Well, he's back at you. [00:25:48] Like the guys, and I want to hear your guys' reflection on your show, but everybody came to me and they're like, oh, this was amazing. [00:25:56] And there was this, there was so much creativity added into it, but like the explosiveness was awesome. [00:26:03] And I was talking to a guy about EDM or whatever. [00:26:07] I don't know anything about EDM. [00:26:08] Okay. [00:26:09] But I was talking about a guy at EDM, and he said something interesting because I asked him to play that Anima guy or Anima. [00:26:15] I don't know if I'm pronouncing it right. [00:26:16] And it was like an hour-long set. [00:26:18] And it started like real hard, kind of like pumping stuff. [00:26:20] And I was like, I don't know if it's mine. [00:26:22] He goes, Yeah, but it's an hour-long set. [00:26:23] And I go, so and he goes, Well, like the first 20, 30 minutes, he's just getting everybody's heart rate up to from 80 beats to like 110. [00:26:33] And I go, why? [00:26:34] He goes, so that they can do this big drop. [00:26:35] He goes, it'd be different if he was just doing like five songs. [00:26:39] As a comedian, you think about these things, but not, you're not as tied into like somebody's biochemistry as like you are with music. [00:26:47] So when you're setting up your set, are you, if you have that hour and a half or two, how long is your set? [00:26:54] 95 minutes. [00:26:55] So 95 minutes. [00:26:56] Are you considering that? [00:26:57] Are you like, okay, we're slowly bringing them in? [00:27:00] Everybody's same page. [00:27:01] Everybody's same page. [00:27:02] Bill, Bill, but a little different. [00:27:04] But can you break down like what you're thinking when you're creating the set? [00:27:07] Yeah. [00:27:08] Of course, every show is different. [00:27:09] Every tour, just kind of like you with the life. [00:27:11] But for me, this particular tour, I was like, I wanted to make a real statement at the beginning of the show. [00:27:18] Like it was important to me not to like. [00:27:21] Because like the trick is either you come out to like an up-tempo hit that people know and then you kind of kind of play into the crowd and then you kind of bring them into the couple songs they don't know and the set slowly ramps up and slowly ramps up and the last four songs with the bangers. [00:27:36] The biggest four songs. [00:27:37] This is like rock and roll 101. [00:27:39] And I was like, so I've always tried to stay away from that model. [00:27:42] Like not to like give away too much of what I do, but like immediately I'm like, fuck, that model sucks. [00:27:47] You know what I'm saying? [00:27:48] Like fucking, even from my perspective. [00:27:50] It's expected. [00:27:51] Like, and also, yeah, 100% gone. [00:27:53] So I was like, what if we come out and the first thing we do, I blow one of the biggest gags I have. [00:28:00] I mean, I walk straight into the arena and all eyes on this thing that happens, right? [00:28:06] And I drop, I'm not okay out the gate. [00:28:08] You know what I mean? [00:28:09] So it's the fucking first thing I'm doing. [00:28:11] I mean, I'm walking right in and like fucking balls on table. [00:28:16] You know what I'm saying? [00:28:17] And I'm doing an effect, right? [00:28:19] I'm doing an extra thing that happens. [00:28:21] It's like, even if I look right now and tell you, you know what song I'm going to do first. [00:28:25] And it's still going to have a moment in the song where you're going to go, get the fuck out of here. [00:28:28] You know what I'm saying? [00:28:29] And I also did that because I wanted people to go, where can he go from here? [00:28:34] That was intentional too, because I knew once I put us in a box where whenever me and my team were talking, they're like, all right, this is this idea. [00:28:40] And I was like, this is what I want to do with this. [00:28:41] Or like, cool. [00:28:41] I was like, that's how I want to start the show. [00:28:43] And right then you can see them go, fuck, well, how are we going to finish that? [00:28:47] You know what I'm saying? [00:28:48] I was like, that's how we challenge ourselves. [00:28:49] Now we got to work through it. [00:28:51] We know where we're starting. [00:28:52] And then I build the whole set like an emotional. [00:28:55] To me, it's about music. [00:28:58] The best concerts that meant the most to me were the ones I remember leaving how they made me feel. [00:29:03] Like, I don't even remember the set list. [00:29:04] I don't fully remember what songs they sung. [00:29:06] I'll remember some highlights. [00:29:08] But I'll remember like the overarching theme of like how I left feeling. === Carrying the Weight of Victory (05:13) === [00:29:12] Amen. [00:29:13] And I want people to leave this like feeling like free. [00:29:17] Like, you know, that feel, I don't know if you've talked to a bunch of people from up here, but don't take this wrong, but like, I always bring it up, but like an old, like, that old church feeling, like, there's something about leaving church on Sunday. [00:29:27] There's this misconception that you leave feeling like you're going to hell. [00:29:30] But like, if done right, you feel like that at some point in the day. [00:29:35] I mean, but you leave feeling like, I'm fucking a good guy. [00:29:39] I showed up. [00:29:40] I'm going to eat lunch with my mom now. [00:29:43] Like, I'm on fire. [00:29:44] You know what I'm saying? [00:29:45] It's like, that's how I want people to leave that show feeling. [00:29:49] And I try to cater the entire set to go into that moment. [00:29:52] Because if I know that's my endgame, then I just got to figure out how to get there. [00:29:56] I know how I'm starting. [00:29:57] I know how I want people to feel walking out the door. [00:29:59] How do I push them out the door? [00:30:01] Oh, that's awesome. [00:30:02] I can attest. [00:30:03] Crisis King. [00:30:07] Get the funny camera on him. [00:30:12] It was spectacular. [00:30:15] All right, guys. [00:30:16] Stylebender's back. [00:30:18] Yep, yep, yep, yep. [00:30:19] Big fight. [00:30:20] Yep, yep. [00:30:21] You know, this is his first non-title fight since a year after he entered the UFC. [00:30:27] Wow. [00:30:29] How long is that? [00:30:30] I forget. [00:30:31] I saw the statistics somewhere, but this is the first non-title fight. [00:30:35] Wow. [00:30:35] Because I think he won the UFC title, I guess, within like a year and change. [00:30:38] Yeah. [00:30:39] And then hasn't had a non-title fight because it's either been a rematch. [00:30:45] Wow. [00:30:47] Insanity, right? [00:30:48] 2019 and 2018 was the last one. [00:30:50] That's crazy. [00:30:50] Imagine fighting the second best guy every single fight for years. [00:30:56] That's crazy. [00:30:57] That's a long time to be the best. [00:30:58] Yeah. [00:30:59] People forget. [00:31:00] That's the thing. [00:31:01] Like, we're, and I'm, I'm a prisoner at the moment or whatever, recency bias or whatever that shit is. [00:31:05] But, like, you forget what that's like. [00:31:06] Imagine every fight you have is the Super Bowl. [00:31:09] That's what happens when you're the belt holder. [00:31:11] Yeah. [00:31:11] It's the best two. [00:31:13] Yeah. [00:31:13] Your name on the arena every time. [00:31:15] Exactly. [00:31:15] Like everyone tuning in to see you. [00:31:17] Not some like, you know, 12th game in a season where you're playing some bum ass squad where you don't have to go home every single time. [00:31:23] Titles on the titles. [00:31:24] And the guy who you're fighting has been thinking about that moment his entire adult life. [00:31:30] That's crazy. [00:31:31] Yeah. [00:31:31] Yeah. [00:31:32] That's insane. [00:31:33] I'm actually excited to see him fight a non-title fight. [00:31:37] I'm curious to see, like, is he loose? [00:31:39] Is he fucking around? [00:31:41] Yeah. [00:31:42] You know, you don't have to carry the weight of the promotion. [00:31:44] I mean, I'm sure he's still headlined in the card, but it's not like you're not carrying this weight like you do. [00:31:49] And I just wonder what that's like. [00:31:51] Like what he said when he was here. [00:31:52] He was like, oh, yeah, I'm going to try some new stuff now. [00:31:54] Yeah. [00:31:54] Like, I'm looking forward to that. [00:31:56] Like, is he going to try to tap him out? [00:31:57] Like, what's going? [00:31:58] What are we going to see? [00:31:59] That's. [00:32:00] Yeah. [00:32:01] What do you know about Imavav, I guess, is the guest? [00:32:04] I saw Imav fight some other dude. [00:32:06] And I fucking, I'm forgetting who it was, but I mean, the guy's nice if he's going to be fighting, is he? [00:32:10] You know, so, um, but yeah, I'm just, I'm just excited to see it. [00:32:14] Is it going to be like when you get back in the clubs after the tour? [00:32:17] Yeah. [00:32:17] You're done doing arenas and you're like, you still want to do good. [00:32:19] Yeah. [00:32:19] Like, we could, you know, we're going to have some fun. [00:32:22] Let's enjoy ourselves a little bit. [00:32:24] Yeah. [00:32:25] Yeah. [00:32:25] So yeah, that's uh, that'll be that'll be really cool. [00:32:28] And then also, you got the uh, the uh the the mahasha fight, Maka to his chef. [00:32:35] Makashif. [00:32:38] So Islam is fighting Surukian, and um, I don't know that much about, I think it's Armin Surukian, but I know it's their second fight, and apparently, everybody's saying how amazing Surukian has been. [00:32:50] And let's see what happens. [00:32:51] But that's going to be January 18th. [00:32:53] Does Surukian have a mustache? [00:32:55] No, but he's Christian. [00:32:57] He's from Georgia. [00:32:59] He lost. [00:33:00] Or he's Armenian, but still Christian. [00:33:04] Yeah. [00:33:05] He lost. [00:33:05] It was funny. [00:33:06] Ariel Hawani was interviewing him and he kept saying things that were in Arabic. [00:33:10] He's like, Asalam alaikum and all these other things. [00:33:12] And he's like, okay, I don't know. [00:33:16] I'm just completely lost about why he was saying these things. [00:33:20] So, but yeah, let's see what's going on. [00:33:22] You know, we're like detached, I feel, like, from the rivalries in the Middle East. [00:33:28] So we don't realize the stakes, you know, when like a Georgian fighter fights a Russian fighter. [00:33:33] Yeah. [00:33:34] You know, or like an Armenian fighter fights a like a Turkish fighter. [00:33:37] Like we just, it doesn't mean as much to us because we're not ingrained in it. [00:33:40] Yeah. [00:33:41] You know, but I imagine that's their version of like what's a big boxing rivalry, like Puerto Rico versus Mexico, Floyd versus a white guy. [00:33:48] Yeah, exactly. [00:33:50] So yeah, I'm excited for these. [00:33:52] Obviously, get it popping over at Stake, you know, leader in global betting and U.S. social casinos, been on top sports, political events, use the promo code Flagrant for your welcome bonus. [00:34:02] And let's get back to the show. [00:34:03] Jelly, you've been blowing up. [00:34:04] I want to hear about all these stories. [00:34:06] I know some of the experiences you must have been having are crazy. [00:34:09] I will tell you a story about Saturday Night Live that I don't know. [00:34:11] I don't know. [00:34:12] I'm sure everybody else knew this but me, but I didn't realize the draft live live live. [00:34:17] It's not like live live. [00:34:19] It's live live. [00:34:20] Live. [00:34:20] It's live. [00:34:22] But I didn't realize that the dress rehearsal was for an audience. === The Draft Live Dress Rehearsal (08:44) === [00:34:25] Yeah. [00:34:25] Oh, wow. [00:34:26] I don't know why I would have missed that. [00:34:28] I guess just when you watch it, I'm not enough behind the curtains to know that side of the business about how to soften. [00:34:33] So they can use that if they need. [00:34:34] Yeah, I didn't know that was an option either. [00:34:36] Because they ended up running the skit that we did in rehearsal that didn't make the actual cuts. [00:34:39] They still ran it on YouTube. [00:34:41] Yeah. [00:34:41] They just didn't run it on TV because I was in the skip. [00:34:43] They just put it on YouTube. [00:34:45] But I didn't know that. [00:34:46] So I was like, oh, this is like crazy. [00:34:50] And that scared me because I nailed dress rehearsal. [00:34:56] You know what I'm saying? [00:34:57] Like, you know how, like, and you walk off and you're like, and I'm walking off and I nailed it so much that like they're, they're clapping for me in the hallways. [00:35:06] And I'm like, don't jinx me right now. [00:35:09] Yeah. [00:35:09] I'm like almost feeling weird about it. [00:35:11] Like, don't praise me, y'all. [00:35:12] This is fucking, that didn't count. [00:35:15] You know what I'm saying? [00:35:15] Because I don't get to replace this one with that one. [00:35:17] It's not enough time. [00:35:18] That's not how live, live TV works. [00:35:20] I don't get to come off and go, I like the first one better. [00:35:22] That is a choice on some live TV shows. [00:35:25] But you know what I'm saying? [00:35:26] But it's like, this isn't one of those. [00:35:29] This is like, all right, well, that was practice. [00:35:31] The next one's for real. [00:35:32] Yeah. [00:35:32] For 7 million people tuned into the 50th season fucking opener. [00:35:36] You're like, I'm going to go out here and blow it. [00:35:38] And then I spent two hours just thinking about how I was going to fuck it up. [00:35:41] You know what I mean? [00:35:42] There's no way I'm going to go out here and get this right back right now. [00:35:44] You're just in the green room. [00:35:45] Yeah, I'm just in the green ruminating in it, by the way, just circling. [00:35:49] I had to go out and sit with my wife in the audience. [00:35:50] So what are you thinking when you're on stage, it's dark, and then you hear, ladies and gentlemen, jelly roll. [00:35:54] What's going through your mind in that moment? [00:35:56] I was like, why wasn't I this nervous the first time? [00:36:00] It was the same introduction, same people. [00:36:03] Now I know it's live. [00:36:04] So I'm sitting there thinking, I should have pissed. [00:36:06] That's the first thing you're thinking. [00:36:07] You're like, I should have peed. [00:36:08] And you're like, I can hold this for three or four. [00:36:09] You ever do, y'all have pre-show pisses? [00:36:11] Oh, yeah, yeah, like one of those where, like, literally, the host is going up to introduce you. [00:36:16] You're like, oh, no, and I got to piss. [00:36:17] I already go out. [00:36:18] And if I'm nervous, one sip of water, I got to go to the bathroom. [00:36:21] It's not even crazy. [00:36:23] I'm not embarrassed. [00:36:25] I'm not ashamed to admit I had to piss on my first bucket on this tour. [00:36:28] Oh, really? [00:36:29] What's up, yo? [00:36:29] Like on the side of the stage? [00:36:31] What did the rest of the arena do? [00:36:34] No, no, no. [00:36:36] I have moments in the set built where I can kind of get away and figure things out if I have to. [00:36:40] Got it. [00:36:40] I built three moments into the set for like, just for me to breathe of nothing else, but like, if just something's going wrong with an ear pack, you know, it's a big show. [00:36:47] I got to figure shit out sometimes. [00:36:48] Yeah. [00:36:48] So it was just one of them fucking figure it out moments. [00:36:51] And I told right before I walked out, I looked at my guy, Yanni, who's my guy in that particular situation. [00:36:57] I go, Bubba, I didn't pee. [00:37:00] He goes, oh, he knew it. [00:37:01] He knows I pee before every show. [00:37:02] He said, oh no, I say, I got an IV, Bubba. [00:37:04] I'm going to have to pee. [00:37:05] He's like, I'll have a bucket for you under the thing. [00:37:07] So I went under the stage and fucking 16,000 people cheering. [00:37:13] Some guy's doing an electric guitar solo. [00:37:15] And you're like, this feels weird. [00:37:17] And then you're like, but you got to pee so bad, you don't have a choice. [00:37:20] Oh, you did that one time. [00:37:21] You did that. [00:37:21] Wait, multiple times? [00:37:24] What's your version? [00:37:25] I'll tell you. [00:37:25] When I did Kill Tony at MSG, like, I was so, my flight got delayed coming back from somewhere. [00:37:32] We're all 50. [00:37:33] Oh, Street Point. [00:37:34] I did the first time. [00:37:34] Because you didn't think you were going to make it. [00:37:35] Yeah. [00:37:36] And so I come in from the 50s end thing. [00:37:38] I'm like texting Tony, like, dude, I don't know if I'm going to make it. [00:37:41] I'm trying my best, whatever. [00:37:42] I get in. [00:37:43] I get there. [00:37:44] I'm like, boom, we're on. [00:37:45] And they're like, okay, you're going to go on next. [00:37:47] Somebody's going to go up right now. [00:37:48] I'm like, okay, I go to the Ron White's dressing room to take a shit. [00:37:53] And as I'm like wiping, I hear them go, give it up from New York City. [00:37:59] So I'm like midwife, shit caked all over my ass. [00:38:02] Pull up my pants. [00:38:03] Oh my gosh. [00:38:05] Yeah. [00:38:05] Pull up my pants, go up there, sit down, didn't wash my hands at all, dapped up everybody with the duty figure. [00:38:10] Went up there with the duty fingers. [00:38:12] No, I seen you look frantic when you got up. [00:38:14] Oh, yeah. [00:38:14] I was like, he does it because it was the last 12 minutes of the show. [00:38:19] We were sitting in front of the house smoking a joint. [00:38:21] I was like, he made it. [00:38:23] What about Amsterdam when they didn't have a bathroom in the whole day? [00:38:28] What was that one? [00:38:29] A little paper waste spin. [00:38:31] Oh, yeah. [00:38:32] I peed behind the stage, right? [00:38:34] It was like they had the like fake green room that they built inside the arena thing. [00:38:38] But there was no bathroom. [00:38:41] So you just had to rip in the trash can. [00:38:43] I mean, yeah. [00:38:43] And then after the show, you went up to some poor room and you're like, by the way, that trash can's got to go. [00:38:49] I mean, there was one time where, like, I was wearing these pants. [00:38:52] Like, you know, usually I have like a jean or something like that, or like a darker, but there was like a pant I was wearing. [00:38:57] I don't know why it was like light. [00:38:59] And I peed, and I was like in a rush. [00:39:01] So I didn't let it dribble. [00:39:04] You gotta shake. [00:39:04] Yeah, I'm a shake. [00:39:05] I have to shake. [00:39:06] Like at my age, I get, I would say, between 40% of my pee out when I pee and 60% of my pee. [00:39:13] Okay. [00:39:14] And I didn't have time to shake. [00:39:16] And I remember running to stage and just feeling myself pee on myself. [00:39:21] Like a full pee. [00:39:22] A full pee. [00:39:23] Like going down the leg as they're playing like the intro video for me. [00:39:27] And I remember just like taking the pants and like rubbing it into one another, like pulling whatever shirt that I had down over it. [00:39:37] You were wearing denim or something light too. [00:39:39] It was like, it was light. [00:39:42] Oh, you and Alec. [00:39:43] Y'all brave with them light color. [00:39:47] I got too much of a dribble too, man. [00:39:49] Oh, I'm straight dribble. [00:39:50] That's bad. [00:39:50] The difference between me and you is at least you can, when you shake, it's just to shake. [00:39:54] I got to do a little bit of a little bit of hopscotching. [00:39:57] You know what I'm saying? [00:39:58] What was the game with Twister? [00:40:00] I got to do a little twister. [00:40:01] I got to do a little bit. [00:40:01] I got to put one hand here, one hand here. [00:40:04] You know what I'm saying? [00:40:05] Give him a little hip thrust. [00:40:06] You know what I'm saying? [00:40:07] He's like, I'll be very deliberate about peeing in the toilet when I'm peeing. [00:40:11] When I shake, it's a helicopter. [00:40:15] Like, it's almost as if, like, shake, dribble, wherever that goes, doesn't count. [00:40:20] Like, it's on the sink. [00:40:21] It's everywhere. [00:40:22] It's on the mirror bathroom. [00:40:25] It's everywhere. [00:40:26] But I don't feel any need to clean that up for whatever reason. [00:40:30] I don't know. [00:40:31] It's the same pee. [00:40:32] It's like, you know, like when you're in a pool and you pee, it's up to you. [00:40:36] I'm interested. [00:40:38] I'll drop you out even more. [00:40:40] But like, when you're in a pool and you pee, that's like, okay. [00:40:43] If you're outside of a pool and you don't even go into a pool, that's not okay. [00:40:47] Peeing in the pool versus peeing into the pool. [00:40:49] But exactly. [00:40:50] No. [00:40:50] What do you mean? [00:40:51] Peeing into a pool is a little bit. [00:40:52] You get out of a pool to pee. [00:40:54] I mean, I don't really swim like that to be honest. [00:40:57] I mean, but like you would leave the pool to pee and you would go do that? [00:41:01] Yeah. [00:41:03] You're not going to be swimming. [00:41:05] I've worked out a lot. [00:41:05] You don't have to do that much. [00:41:06] So it's easy to stand on this. [00:41:08] But as often as you pee, you're not going to be able to do it. [00:41:10] Yeah. [00:41:11] So I don't want to pull every five seconds. [00:41:13] I don't swim very long, guys. [00:41:16] No, but now they got the stuff you put in the pool and it changes colors when you start urinating. [00:41:20] Is that real or is that just so much? [00:41:21] I've been hearing that sometimes. [00:41:23] No, that's what you tell kids that don't pee in the pool. [00:41:26] Maybe it's a fake video. [00:41:27] But what's up with the chlorine then? [00:41:29] Like, what does the chlorine do? [00:41:30] I thought that's to clean out the pee. [00:41:31] That's why it smells like chlorine. [00:41:32] Funny. [00:41:33] I try not to piss in other people's pools. [00:41:35] Say again. [00:41:36] I try not to piss in other people's pools. [00:41:37] That's the policy I try to hold to. [00:41:39] I cannot. [00:41:39] You know what I'm saying? [00:41:40] My pool, if I got it. [00:41:41] You were in his pool in Miami. [00:41:42] I hope he peed in it. [00:41:43] I don't think I peeed in that pool. [00:41:45] He peed in that pool. [00:41:45] I'm in. [00:41:46] Yeah, I did. [00:41:46] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:41:48] 100%. [00:41:48] I did. [00:41:49] I didn't even know that you weren't supposed to. [00:41:52] Like, you saying I don't pee in other people's pools. [00:41:54] Like, my brain just exploded. [00:41:56] I was like, oh, you're not supposed to do that. [00:41:59] Like, do you see it as like taking your shoes off before you enter like an Asian thing? [00:42:02] No, no, I'm just like that. [00:42:05] You're in a hole. [00:42:06] You don't take your shoes off. [00:42:07] I walk around the home. [00:42:08] I thought chlorine was to keep the water from getting stale. [00:42:12] Like pond water. [00:42:13] You know what I'm saying? [00:42:14] Like, I thought it was to clean the pee out of the pool. [00:42:16] No, I think it's more for like, you know, if water just sits stale like that and it don't get nothing, no chemical in it, the water will start, you know, watering. [00:42:24] You know what I'm saying? [00:42:25] It'll start growing now. [00:42:27] I don't know what that means. [00:42:28] I get it. [00:42:29] You got mosquitoes. [00:42:30] You got mosquitoes. [00:42:31] Listen, I've grew up around a greenish statue. [00:42:33] Water will start water. [00:42:38] I was just telling you, man, I've been around a pond or two. [00:42:40] You know what I'm saying? [00:42:41] Chlorine's got to do something for the pee. [00:42:43] The only thing that keeps a pool from being a pond is chlorine. [00:42:46] You know what the bummer about having a dribble is? [00:42:49] Is that like I would never pee on my wife? [00:42:52] But like, let's say that we got to a point in our relationship where we were like, let's try to spice it up. [00:42:56] We're 60 years old or whatever. [00:42:58] Were you doing in the shower for me? [00:43:00] No, but like if I peed on her, right? [00:43:02] And I wouldn't do this, but if I peed on her, I would finish and then I have to be like, well, hold on. [00:43:06] Most of it's about to come out now. [00:43:08] Like, we can't just get up now. === Squatting During Liquid Emergencies (04:10) === [00:43:10] Like, we got to be here for the little dribble. [00:43:12] Like, we got to, I got to spackle it up. [00:43:14] Here comes the helicopter. [00:43:17] He's smoking another ounce and a half out of it. [00:43:19] Yeah, exactly. [00:43:20] Yeah. [00:43:20] So, and it would really just destroy the mood. [00:43:23] Like, as hot as it is, just getting drenched in urine. [00:43:27] Then me being like, well, here comes the rest of it. [00:43:30] Is yeah. [00:43:31] I'm not how old are you? [00:43:32] Huh? [00:43:32] I'm trying to be 40. [00:43:33] I'm 40. [00:43:34] My dick is 90. [00:43:35] Don't shut up. [00:43:37] I don't got the dribble. [00:43:38] I got the. [00:43:39] My problem is my piss is in spurts. [00:43:41] I know when I think I'm done, I got another one coming. [00:43:43] I just got to be patient. [00:43:44] Oh, yeah. [00:43:45] You know what I mean? [00:43:45] I just got to stand there for another second and be like, there's a whole nother one of these. [00:43:51] I've just got to sit here. [00:43:53] I know that. [00:43:54] I know when you hold the hose closed. [00:43:56] Yeah, exactly. [00:43:57] It's like, I know it's on the way. [00:43:58] You shit on the bus? [00:43:59] You shit on the tour bus? [00:44:00] No, no, I got to shit in a bag instead. [00:44:02] What? [00:44:03] Have you ever had to shit during a show? [00:44:04] What? [00:44:05] Can I be honest with you? [00:44:07] We're trying to what each other up this is. [00:44:10] There was one show where I went on stage knowing full well I had to shit. [00:44:14] And I remember I got off that stage and I beelined it to the bathroom and I filled that fucking thing up. [00:44:22] I created like a volcanic island. [00:44:23] Like the dude who filled the hole and then grew and then breached the surface of the body. [00:44:29] Those always feel those are great. [00:44:30] Those are satisfying. [00:44:31] I feel that it's one of those where you like you look at your stomach in the mirror afterwards. [00:44:37] Check your abs. [00:44:38] Like it was one of those. [00:44:39] That was infamous. [00:44:40] Why have you shit on stage? [00:44:41] No, well, I have, first of all, my wife's going to hate this podcast. [00:44:45] I have no shit shame, and she shames me for it all the time. [00:44:48] Good. [00:44:48] I have zero shit shame. [00:44:50] We need that as well. [00:44:51] I don't have it. [00:44:52] But we were playing Pittsburgh at a bar that was connected to a bowling alley. [00:44:59] Nice. [00:44:59] So there was like this. [00:45:01] Yeah, this is, yeah, this is eight years ago, seven years ago. [00:45:05] Maybe fuck six years ago, even. [00:45:07] And it's like a 500 capper, right? [00:45:09] There's no back our green room is through the crowd. [00:45:12] It's one of those things. [00:45:14] And our green room didn't have a bathroom. [00:45:17] I hate that. [00:45:17] So you would have to go into the bowling. [00:45:19] I fucking fucked up, dude. [00:45:21] But the way the backstage was set up behind the stage was like an outdoor fenced-in area that you could sit at a picnic table. [00:45:28] You see where this story's going? [00:45:31] I'm on stage. [00:45:32] I like this. [00:45:33] Listen, man. [00:45:34] I can't believe I'm telling this on this podcast. [00:45:38] And I feel it rumbling. [00:45:39] I'm like, it's finna happen. [00:45:41] I hit the drummer and I'm like, yo, I just need y'all to vamp. [00:45:45] Just like, you know, what? [00:45:47] Everybody gets a solo. [00:45:49] We don't even got ears. [00:45:50] So you don't have a microphone to talk back. [00:45:52] Like, now we can go talk. [00:45:53] We have full conversations on that stage because we can hit one microphone that just us can hear. [00:45:57] Oh, that's smart. [00:45:58] Yeah. [00:45:59] It's crazy fire. [00:46:00] So it's like, that wasn't an option. [00:46:02] So I'm having to like go to my guy, like, play. [00:46:05] I'm fixing this shit. [00:46:07] And I walk straight out the back door to where that little back patio was, dropped my draws. [00:46:13] My wife's standing right there going, What are you doing? [00:46:15] We've been married maybe a year. [00:46:19] And I had this is like drunk jelly roll, drinking codeine, cocaine. [00:46:27] Like, my shit was, it was in just water, just water almost, just soft served water. [00:46:34] And I'm just, I couldn't hide. [00:46:36] They played for me. [00:46:37] Was it coming down your thighs off the fire? [00:46:39] It's worse when fat people talk about it, right? [00:46:43] I'm sorry. [00:46:44] I just imagining worse and I don't know. [00:46:48] You can avoid the thighs. [00:46:49] Yeah. [00:46:49] So are you squatting during this? [00:46:52] Are you your legs like just no? [00:46:54] I'm doing like a little hover thing. [00:46:55] You know what I'm saying? [00:46:56] I'm doing like the best, the best squat I could do for the size. [00:46:59] I would think I pressed them against the fence, probably. [00:47:01] I've had this shit. [00:47:02] I'm from the country. [00:47:03] I got bear. [00:47:05] You know what I'm saying? [00:47:06] I've never sitting on the side of the road is not a new concept to me. [00:47:10] Exactly. [00:47:10] What do you say? [00:47:10] What I've experienced in that moment? [00:47:12] Yeah. [00:47:13] Nothing. [00:47:15] Damn, Jeff. [00:47:15] You got to get up there. [00:47:18] Listen, you savage. === Hovering Over Poison Ivy Thighs (03:41) === [00:47:21] Swirl your head against a brick. [00:47:23] Listen, the worst part of this podcast, you'll be watching. [00:47:25] You went to stage with shit all over your ass and what are you talking about? [00:47:28] Yeah, I did. [00:47:30] He was out of it. [00:47:31] But he was in his grief. [00:47:32] I tried. [00:47:33] You wanted to do something crazy? [00:47:34] I wiped and I broke. [00:47:35] I broke Tyler Tara. [00:47:37] Oh, that's petty. [00:47:37] Yeah, you can't. [00:47:38] He's lying, but it's disgusting. [00:47:39] Yeah, it still feels real. [00:47:42] I did do. [00:47:43] Why did I lie about that? [00:47:43] So I look cool. [00:47:46] Make me look cool. [00:47:48] This is a true story. [00:47:49] I know one time I died one. [00:47:51] I'm not going to keep telling shit stories. [00:47:55] I need to know. [00:47:55] So you did. [00:47:56] You went with liquid shit. [00:47:58] You went liquid shit air drums? [00:48:00] The wildest podcast. [00:48:01] That's where you got to shake. [00:48:02] That's where you got to shake. [00:48:03] You got to shake up to that liquid shit air drum. [00:48:05] No, you got to. [00:48:05] Make it one of those for sure. [00:48:06] And no, no, no. [00:48:07] You know what else you got to do? [00:48:08] You got to squeeze the butt cheeks together and then squat and then squeeze. [00:48:11] You know what I'm saying? [00:48:12] Just trying to get down. [00:48:13] That's all. [00:48:14] Got it all out. [00:48:15] Toothpaste. [00:48:16] I've had to do it. [00:48:17] I've been in the country. [00:48:18] I've had to wipe with leaves before. [00:48:19] You know, the wipe with leaves. [00:48:20] That's kind of nice, actually. [00:48:21] All right. [00:48:21] I've done that. [00:48:22] No, that's enough. [00:48:23] That's stuff. [00:48:23] Mark that. [00:48:24] That'll turn it off. [00:48:25] And the smoothest leave out there is going to butcher that butthole. [00:48:33] I like that. [00:48:35] You guys are country. [00:48:38] Wiping with a smooth leaf? [00:48:40] Because it can't be too smooth or it's not going to grab. [00:48:43] I need some grip. [00:48:44] I need grip. [00:48:45] Listen. [00:48:47] I need it to be like a skateboard. [00:48:49] The first time I went to my uncle's farm, my cousin shit wiped with poison ivy. [00:48:55] Oh, no. [00:48:55] No, poison oak. [00:48:56] It was poison oak. [00:48:57] It just looks like a, it looks like a regular oak leaf. [00:48:59] Oh, wow. [00:48:59] A little poison oak. [00:49:00] And then what happened? [00:49:01] Oh, he flamed his ass up. [00:49:03] What are you talking about? [00:49:03] It was all bad. [00:49:04] We had a neighbor that did that. [00:49:05] It's so bad. [00:49:06] Have you ever had poison ivy? [00:49:07] Poison ivy I've had. [00:49:09] Poison ovy. [00:49:10] All the way from bottom of nutsack to tip of tailbone. [00:49:13] Oh, no. [00:49:14] Horrible cheer. [00:49:15] We had a neighbor that did that. [00:49:16] He's actually from Tennessee, but it is from Knoxville. [00:49:18] And he got poison ivy on his hands. [00:49:20] And I swear to God, his wife came out of the room like two hours later. [00:49:24] She was like, my breasts are burning. [00:49:26] I swear to God. [00:49:27] I'm not lying. [00:49:28] She's like, my breasts, I just don't know what it is. [00:49:30] If you touch a poison ivy or poison oak, you can't piss. [00:49:34] Oh, yeah, touch your dick after that. [00:49:37] Watch, Bob. [00:49:38] That stuff is, it's like chicken pox. [00:49:41] It goes with everything it touches. [00:49:42] We got to do the hot ones, bro. [00:49:44] We need hot ones with that. [00:49:45] Touch your dick after poison ivy. [00:49:47] It is fucking. [00:49:47] It is. [00:49:48] Can you transfer other people? [00:49:49] Yeah, completely. [00:49:51] Yeah, yeah. [00:49:52] His wife got it. [00:49:52] There's a literally, if I touch a poison ivy right now and I grab my dick. [00:49:58] I'm not touching here picking up. [00:50:00] If you touch my dick, that shit will get swollen. [00:50:02] Oh, no. [00:50:07] Maybe that's, yeah, I don't know. [00:50:08] But maybe that's maybe that's what the foreskin or whatever was designed to do initially. [00:50:13] It is a sheath. [00:50:14] It is like a protective layer. [00:50:15] Yeah. [00:50:16] Damn. [00:50:17] Yeah, you need that. [00:50:18] You need that. [00:50:18] Do you think the foreskin is immune to types of ivy or poison poison? [00:50:24] I think it is immune to a lot of poison. [00:50:26] I think you could drag that fucking hangy dick push of poison over sometimes. [00:50:31] It does collect little things, though. [00:50:32] Sometimes. [00:50:33] Like, you know, like little stickers and stuff. [00:50:35] It collects little stuff. [00:50:36] No way if you're out there. [00:50:37] Are you like a clam? [00:50:38] Like, if we open you up, is there going to be like a little marble in there? [00:50:42] Yeah, there's jewels. [00:50:43] Oh my god. [00:50:45] If you let it go too long. [00:50:46] Can we do that on a Patreon? [00:50:47] Yeah, we might need to. [00:50:48] That would be kind of sick. [00:50:51] That's why you just got to go Commando, bro. [00:50:52] You have a bidet? [00:50:53] I'll live by a bidet. [00:50:55] Ernest and them turn it. [00:50:56] Ernest and them sent me a bunch of bidets during COVID. [00:50:59] We only need one. [00:51:00] Somebody found. [00:51:00] No, we got, listen, so my wife. === Shitting at Woodstock Festivals (05:42) === [00:51:02] Every time I get a lot of people. [00:51:02] I'm going to multiply bathrooms. [00:51:07] Because I like the attachment so much. [00:51:09] Wait, what? [00:51:09] Yeah. [00:51:10] Oh, with the wireless situation. [00:51:12] Yeah, no, no, no, no. [00:51:13] Yeah, yes. [00:51:14] This is like, she bought the one from wherever they make them at. [00:51:18] They got a full-ass toilet. [00:51:20] And it was a big one. [00:51:21] I thought it would be crazy. [00:51:22] Dude, you got a whole toilet. [00:51:23] The toilet is one. [00:51:24] Yes, the whole toilet. [00:51:25] But I can control the temperature. [00:51:27] That's the underrated water. [00:51:29] Heated toilet seat window. [00:51:31] That's that. [00:51:31] Yeah, yeah, that's sick. [00:51:32] Instant relaxation. [00:51:33] We've been talking about it. [00:51:35] Why are they so good at the toilet thing? [00:51:37] Why did the Japanese why are we not? [00:51:39] We eat the most shit the most gotta be. [00:51:41] Yeah, why are we not more focused on ass hygiene? [00:51:44] I've had a bidet for years now. [00:51:46] But they know that. [00:51:47] Did America invent the port-a-potty? [00:51:49] Did we? [00:51:50] I feel like that's something we would have. [00:51:51] Oh, must have. [00:51:52] George Harding made the first porta potty in 1960. [00:51:55] Yeah, that's a great idea. [00:51:56] Damn, it makes me wonder how they were shitting in festivals before that. [00:51:59] Or like Woodstock? [00:52:00] Woodstock was in the 60s, though. [00:52:02] Yeah, but they just... [00:52:02] Oh, that's a good point. [00:52:03] But yeah, though, that wasn't fucking a lot of people. [00:52:06] They didn't have enough. [00:52:07] Well, I don't know if they had porta potties. [00:52:08] No, but they didn't have enough. [00:52:09] The problem was, you know, the story about Woodstock, right? [00:52:12] Y'all know this? [00:52:13] No. [00:52:14] I'm going to butcher it, and y'all correct me, but at least in the spirit of me trying to get it right, is they anticipated based on like ticket sales this to be a flop. [00:52:25] They staffed it for like 4,000 people. [00:52:29] Oh, wow. [00:52:29] So what happened was because it was so loose, they didn't even put fences up or try to gate it or nothing. [00:52:34] They were just like, look, it's just kind of at this point, it's integrity. [00:52:37] We sold 4,000 tickets. [00:52:38] Anybody who wants to show up can come. [00:52:40] But back then, it wasn't like you could post that on fucking TikTok. [00:52:43] You know what I mean? [00:52:44] So they thought, you know, maybe our neighbors will come. [00:52:46] Maybe, you know, the community will come together. [00:52:47] They were expecting like 5,000, 7,000 people at most when a half a million motherfuckers, and the word started getting out. [00:52:54] Fucking Jimi Hendrix, all this crazy shit's happening and it's free. [00:52:57] They don't have a fence. [00:52:58] It's like, it's a third, you know, right? [00:53:01] So it immediately just like the whole this part of America. [00:53:06] Yeah. [00:53:07] Yeah. [00:53:08] Right into it is what. [00:53:09] So yeah, no, there was shit everywhere. [00:53:10] I was a big part of it. [00:53:11] When you watch the documentary, it's super bad. [00:53:13] The other problem was they didn't know how to feed people. [00:53:15] And there were so many people backed up on the interstate highways. [00:53:18] That's why there was only one Woodstock. [00:53:20] It was a logistical nightmare. [00:53:23] The other side of the beauty of what we see is they could not, they thought people were going to die. [00:53:27] It was really bad. [00:53:29] The locals came in and started cooking like big bowls of chicken and rice just to mass feed people. [00:53:33] Wow. [00:53:33] They wasn't ready to feed that many. [00:53:35] They wasn't ready for that area of New York wasn't ready for a half a million motherfuckers. [00:53:41] Still popping up. [00:53:43] You feel bad for the Fire Fest guy. [00:53:44] He's like, I went to prison for this. [00:53:46] And the Woodstock guy's got like the greatest documentary ever. [00:53:49] Like, what the fuck? [00:53:50] Yeah, it was great. [00:53:51] He's running it back, though. [00:53:52] Firefest is running it back. [00:53:53] Is he going to do it again? [00:53:54] Yeah, would you perform at Firefest too? [00:53:56] I think I'd probably pass. [00:53:58] I think I'd probably pay. [00:53:59] I don't know, man. [00:53:59] I'm all about second chances and redemption too, though. [00:54:02] I would hear him out. [00:54:03] I would give him an audience. [00:54:04] You know what I mean? [00:54:05] Like, yo, what did you really learn? [00:54:06] Did you make sure he becomes thirsty? [00:54:08] Did you not come out? [00:54:09] Like, the problem is with prison is people either come out and really want to change their life or they come out smarter criminals. [00:54:15] Yeah. [00:54:16] And that's the truth. [00:54:18] And you just, and I'm all about second chances. [00:54:20] So yeah, I hear him out, but my gut reaction is fucking out. [00:54:23] Not in that long. [00:54:24] You know what I mean? [00:54:24] But I'm also just not into being on a plane that long. [00:54:27] Yeah. [00:54:27] Just doesn't sound like my crowd. [00:54:29] I don't look like what, based on what he tried to book. [00:54:33] You're headlining stagecoach. [00:54:35] Yeah, this is the big one. [00:54:36] It's huge, huge. [00:54:37] Yeah, it's our Coachella. [00:54:39] I know y'all work ridiculous and asking y'all to do something other than the stagecoach would be awesome. [00:54:44] So it's you, who else? [00:54:45] It's going to be so Luke Combs or Zach Bryan's, but Luke Combs is Friday night. [00:54:51] Yeah. [00:54:51] I headline Saturday night and Zach Bryan headline Sunday night. [00:54:54] Wow. [00:54:55] It's going to be 75,000. [00:54:56] It's going to be, I mean, it's going to be insane. [00:55:00] Yeah, where is it? [00:55:01] It's April. [00:55:03] It's the Coachella is the first week. [00:55:05] First two weeks. [00:55:05] And then the week after it is. [00:55:07] Yeah. [00:55:08] And then, hold on, there's a fun little thing. [00:55:10] T-Pain, Creed, and Battery Boys. [00:55:12] Oh, that'll be the fire. [00:55:15] Don't accidentally look over Nelly doing 25. [00:55:18] Lana Del Ray. [00:55:20] Sammy Hagar. [00:55:21] Sturgil. [00:55:21] Sammy Hagar's the man, bro. [00:55:23] Oh, Sturgil is going to be on. [00:55:24] Sturgil's my night. [00:55:25] Son, we were just talking about Nelly last weekend and how, like, man, that first album on fucking. [00:55:31] This is the album celebrating country grandpa. [00:55:33] Country Gregory this week is doing all country grandfather. [00:55:35] Ride with me. [00:55:36] Those are just like, those took over. [00:55:37] Shabuzi's my night, Co Wetzel. [00:55:39] This night is special. [00:55:40] We're crawling up. [00:55:42] Yeah, dead ass. [00:55:45] What is this? [00:55:45] What, what? [00:55:46] 25th, 26th, 27th? [00:55:47] Of what? [00:55:48] April. [00:55:48] I'm in there. [00:55:49] I'm coming. [00:55:49] Come bring the wife. [00:55:51] How crazy is it to have the baby out there? [00:55:53] It's great. [00:55:54] Put the headphones on and people bring babies all the time. [00:55:56] It's great. [00:55:57] The weather was great when we were out there. [00:55:58] Also, the baby can stay. [00:56:00] You're not like, it's not like a Woodstock type thing where you're like there the whole day. [00:56:04] You can go back to the house and then come back for a different time. [00:56:06] And also, especially on my night, I have the whole compound, so it's whatever. [00:56:11] I'll give you your own. [00:56:11] You'll have your own room. [00:56:12] Don't worry about that. [00:56:13] We'll take care of y'all. [00:56:14] Yeah. [00:56:14] Okay, that'll be fun. [00:56:16] We'll roll out the red carpet. [00:56:17] It'll be fun. [00:56:18] Trust me, we're cool. [00:56:19] This is a big deal for us. [00:56:20] One thing y'all know about me is I'm like y'all. [00:56:22] This is how we became friends. [00:56:23] Yeah. [00:56:23] Is that we treat every moment that is a moment like it's a moment. [00:56:27] So y'all know what the fuck I'm fixing this. [00:56:28] Oh, Saturday. [00:56:30] It should say jelly rolling friends because I am fucking, I got big tricks on my stuff. [00:56:35] I got big tricks up my sleeve. [00:56:37] I'll talk about it. [00:56:38] Oh, wow. [00:56:38] I've already got one commitment to do. [00:56:40] But this one commitment's the only one that comes through. [00:56:42] It's going to be the most legendary thing that ever happened to Stagecoach. === Sharing Personal Life Risks (14:38) === [00:56:45] Really? [00:56:45] And I got two more calls out for even crazier looks. [00:56:48] Wow. [00:56:48] And like seeing that like Saturday of Stagecoach, that's when everyone is there. [00:56:53] It's like that's a Jay-Z Beyonce main stage equivalent, which is what they're just going to say you should bring up. [00:56:59] Yeah, that's the weekend at Coachella. [00:57:01] Yeah. [00:57:01] It's that same audience, not the week of weekends, obviously, the biggest artist ever. [00:57:05] Man, you're just thinking what drugs he's going to be doing that night. [00:57:07] No, no, I haven't been into the drugs. [00:57:08] Though I'm the fatherhood, that's it. [00:57:11] Yeah, Fatherhood. [00:57:12] I haven't smoked a cigarette or anything since the baby, and I haven't touched drugs since the baby. [00:57:17] Wow. [00:57:18] And not really even had any interest in doing it. [00:57:20] It's kind of weird. [00:57:21] What's up? [00:57:21] But I will say this: Burning Man is calling me a little bit. [00:57:26] I was talking to the guy who does PT and training stuff. [00:57:31] Shout out to he's fucking unbelievable. [00:57:34] You guys should definitely get in touch with him if you can. [00:57:36] He's incredible, truly incredible. [00:57:37] Like, save my shoulder. [00:57:38] My shoulder, I was getting cortisol. [00:57:39] What are they called? [00:57:40] Cortisol? [00:57:40] Cortisol. [00:57:41] Cortisone or cortisol? [00:57:42] Cortisol. [00:57:43] Cortisol, yeah. [00:57:43] Cortisone shots. [00:57:44] A doctor was literally like, yeah, this is just what your shoulder is going to be like. [00:57:48] A doctor. [00:57:50] And then him and another one. [00:57:54] They basically just like saved my shoulder. [00:57:55] Like, truly remarkable. [00:57:57] Makes me truly believe in PT. [00:57:59] Anyway, oh, fuck, I can't. [00:58:01] Now we got to bleep his name because I want to tell you the other thing. [00:58:05] But he's like a chemist with everything in his life in terms of what he puts in his body outside with food, et cetera. [00:58:11] And then just today, he was breaking down his, like, how he does the night, how he ramps up the night. [00:58:17] And yeah, he's like, he tests his own drugs. [00:58:20] Wow. [00:58:21] He creates his own pills out of it. [00:58:25] Wow. [00:58:26] Like, he's dosing himself. [00:58:27] He's down to a microphone. [00:58:29] He's got down to a science where he needs to have his perfect cortisone, right? [00:58:36] The second he told me that shit, I was like, I think I need to get high again. [00:58:41] I didn't know you could do it like a science. [00:58:42] You know, that seems safe. [00:58:43] Listen, man. [00:58:44] I'm learning really when you get down to it. [00:58:45] I've been a parent a little bit for a little while now, and I can tell you one of the most pieces of parent advice I can give my two young fathers here, especially for you and your wife, which I've met both of your wives, and I think they're both sweet people. [00:58:59] It's important for y'all to find time to not be parents. [00:59:02] And I know you're early in the process, so that sounds unrealistic. [00:59:04] No, no, you're right. [00:59:06] But it is important that y'all go to Burning Man and completely fucking lose your mind and forget your kids out. [00:59:11] That is the only thing that will make that balancing act work. [00:59:14] Because a little night out with some wine or a weekend, a weekend away at a hotel, a staycation, or this, that's not enough. [00:59:22] You need every now and then to go out and look like, we're fucking college kids again. [00:59:27] We're fucking going to get naked and swing from chandeliers. [00:59:30] We're going to get kicked out of a fucking hotel. [00:59:32] Like it's important every now and then. [00:59:35] All parents out there listening, trust the fat man with this one, y'all. [00:59:38] I swear. [00:59:39] It is a backbone of something me and Bunny have stood by. [00:59:41] It's like, it is important to every now and then, because even you'll go out and do stuff. [00:59:45] And we're parents 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. [00:59:50] Every now and then, I just don't need to be one. [00:59:53] You know, it's funny. [00:59:53] It's like you spend so much time more time with your wife or your partner or whatever once you have a kid. [01:00:01] But it is fundamentally nothing like the time that you've spent in the past. [01:00:05] So before any time you get together, right, as a dude, you're obviously calculating it. [01:00:10] You're like, okay, we got tons of time this week. [01:00:11] This is awesome. [01:00:12] We didn't get time next week. [01:00:16] But when you're with the baby, you think you're getting that same experience, but you're not filling each other up in the same way. [01:00:21] You're getting filled up by that baby. [01:00:22] That baby is euphoria, right? [01:00:24] But there is another component, which is filling each other up. [01:00:29] And whether, I don't know if it's, you know, you got to go crazy every single time, but literally just making sure you go out to dinner. [01:00:34] Like, that's something that my wife and I get a half hour going to get coffee. [01:00:38] Like having 30 minutes where we can talk to one another. [01:00:40] Maybe there's some shit we got to work out. [01:00:42] Maybe there's a disagreement we got. [01:00:43] And there's just, well, we don't want to argue. [01:00:45] We don't want the babies. [01:00:45] We're going to have to get a new roundabout. [01:00:46] Exactly. [01:00:47] Like creating those times. [01:00:49] And at first you almost feel selfish. [01:00:50] You're like, why am I trying to create time with me and my wife when we have a baby? [01:00:54] Like we should be spending every single second with the baby. [01:00:56] But you realize that maybe that's the most important thing for that baby. [01:01:01] Like if things are great between us, everything's good. [01:01:05] And if they're not good between us, they are in a really difficult situation. [01:01:10] It's something nobody will prepare you for. [01:01:13] Nobody talks about it. [01:01:14] Like nobody tells you right before you have a kid, by the way, your relationship is going to completely change the dynamic, the how you guys spend time. [01:01:21] And you need to be ready for that change and do everything that you need to make sure that you're both getting what you need from each other within that change. [01:01:29] It's a whole extra prioritization too. [01:01:31] Because you're like, initially, it's like I'm just, you know, I'm already juggling work and these other ideas I have and ambitions and dreams and hobbies with my wife. [01:01:38] Now I'm juggling. [01:01:39] And then it's easy to lump them together. [01:01:41] Oh, it's my wife and kid. [01:01:43] And I had to learn fast. [01:01:44] Like it's not. [01:01:44] It ain't that. [01:01:45] That is one thing, but me and my wife are a separate thing. [01:01:47] And this is where it gets deeper when they get older. [01:01:49] And me and my kid are a separate thing, too. [01:01:51] Because then you'll fall guilty sometimes. [01:01:52] You're like, oh, I've got it great. [01:01:53] I got the wife and kid, and then I got the wife. [01:01:55] It's like, well, no, you still got to go sit down and be just a dad. [01:01:57] She is just you. [01:01:59] Yeah, like you still got to go put in that just her time. [01:02:01] You need that just her time. [01:02:02] It's important for growth. [01:02:03] And me, sneaking away, getting them dinners, going on those things, they're important, equally important. [01:02:08] Once a year, go blow it out. [01:02:10] Be fucking irresponsible. [01:02:12] I stand by it, dude. [01:02:14] It's been such an important thing for me and both. [01:02:16] There's that thing on Instagram that like everybody's been, every male friend group has been forwarding to one another and none of us have been forwarding to our wives. [01:02:23] But it was like study says that men need two nights out a week with the boys. [01:02:27] Have you guys seen that pop up on your Instagram? [01:02:29] No, the fuck is my algorithm doing? [01:02:32] The girl's in control of it. [01:02:35] But like it is, I don't know what the exact number is. [01:02:38] Like, obviously, we're very lucky we get to come here and like shoot the shit and just have a lot of fun. [01:02:42] But that is an important thing to communicate as well. [01:02:47] Like, that's a really hard thing to say the person you love more than anything in the world is, hey, I need to not be with you tonight. [01:02:52] Yeah. [01:02:53] You know what I mean? [01:02:53] Like, I think my wife was like, I just love spending time with you. [01:02:56] And I was like, I also love spending time with me. [01:03:03] So I didn't do that right now. [01:03:05] I need about an hour with me. [01:03:06] What you're feeling is what I'm feeling. [01:03:08] I need that right now. [01:03:10] Bunny quit drinking many years ago. [01:03:12] And everything I gave up, I'll still go out and tie one on every now and then. [01:03:16] And I've cut it back immensely. [01:03:18] But that's what Bunny does understand is that when I do have that feature in me, Bunny is, I love her for this because my wife stands. [01:03:25] She'll call it early. [01:03:27] She'll be like, you might just need to find a night to go out. [01:03:30] Like she'll start kind of pushing me. [01:03:32] Like, when have you done something? [01:03:33] You know, go do something. [01:03:35] So like, even like the other night when we're sitting around, it's my first night off in probably 17, 18 days. [01:03:40] And she was like, you should go rest. [01:03:41] I was like, Saul's at a comedy club. [01:03:43] I get to catch him at a cellar. [01:03:45] And while we're here, I want to book. [01:03:46] I don't want to bookmark it. [01:03:47] I want you to let me get through this. [01:03:48] When I've seen you at the life tour, I can tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt, it's going to be one of the greatest hours of stand-up we're ever going to witness. [01:03:55] Oh, God bless you. [01:03:56] It is his best hour. [01:03:57] Thank you, bro. [01:03:57] No, no, no. [01:03:58] It's not about being your best hour. [01:03:59] Yeah. [01:04:00] Thank you. [01:04:00] It is going to be one of the best hours ever. [01:04:02] And I had a moment when you were at the cellar because this is why I wanted to come see you too. [01:04:06] I had a moment at the cellar where I was like, I've seen it at Nashville Comedy Fest in April. [01:04:10] The way y'all's business work is different than mine. [01:04:13] It's only gotten better. [01:04:15] Oh, thank you. [01:04:16] It couldn't have gotten worse. [01:04:17] The way y'all's business is, you've only found, I seen you working out little shit. [01:04:20] I'm like, oh, he's still picking this thing fucking apart. [01:04:23] And I've seen it fucking, you know what I mean? [01:04:26] You can use this part or not if you don't want to. [01:04:28] Even down to the name caught me off guard. [01:04:31] Like I had flash shots of when you announced the life tour and it's this silhouette of you. [01:04:36] I have these flash shots of you in this 1964 Impala doing, you know, at your first big LA theater show, right? [01:04:43] I'm looking at like these Schultz moments and I'm like, oh, I bet this is going to, you know, I remember the plane Schultz and like, I just remember these eras of like, I wonder what this is going to be. [01:04:52] So I went in expecting more of that and was like, get the fuck out of here. [01:04:56] I was like, this dude's a fucking, this is brilliant. [01:04:58] That's what I see. [01:04:59] So many people, so much more than motherfuckers know you're that. [01:05:04] They know you're him, but they still underestimate you. [01:05:08] That's why I say it's his best hour, given everything he's done for this to still be his best hour. [01:05:12] I don't say that life. [01:05:13] They're going to goathead you on this one, dog. [01:05:15] Oh, thank you, man. [01:05:16] Thank you. [01:05:16] It's fucking special. [01:05:17] So anyways, I tell my wife, I'm like, yo, Schultz is at the cellar. [01:05:20] And she's like, oh, fucking go. [01:05:21] She immediately was like, because she knows I need that. [01:05:25] She's like, she knows how much I need to like, she knows how much y'all fill me up and how much I love comedy. [01:05:29] And she's like, just go be somewhere where you fucking aren't you. [01:05:32] That's a lot of confidence for her to say that too. [01:05:34] Like for her not to see that as a sense of projection, like you don't want to be with her. [01:05:38] And that takes time also. [01:05:40] Like that's maturity. [01:05:41] You know, it's very easy, I think, to get caught up in men and women. [01:05:45] We can get caught up in this feeling of like, oh, if my partner doesn't want to be with me, do they, does that mean they don't like me? [01:05:49] Right. [01:05:50] Am I not as fun as that other thing? [01:05:52] Do they want to be with someone else? [01:05:53] Yeah, exactly. [01:05:53] If you're something else cooking, you're right. [01:05:56] And then we both do it. [01:05:57] And then instead of saying, hey, I'm hurt, we get upset at them or try to catch them and things because it's way easier to be like, you're wrong than say, I feel insecure. [01:06:04] So it's, that's, I like commend her for that. [01:06:07] That's a very mature position. [01:06:08] I'm telling you. [01:06:09] And I was going to go hang out with her. [01:06:10] And she was like, she was like, no, go, Mitch. [01:06:12] Bunny's just, that's just where she's at. [01:06:14] She's always encouraged, but she knows my heart too. [01:06:16] She knows like this dude's been fucking, you know, like, because when I get to get in them situations, I don't, I don't have to be the dude. [01:06:24] I just get to be with the dudes. [01:06:25] You know what I'm saying? [01:06:26] So she knows how much I need that. [01:06:28] You know what I mean? [01:06:28] Like, you get to relax a little bit. [01:06:30] That's interesting. [01:06:31] I didn't think about it like that. [01:06:32] Like everybody, when you're on tour and you're doing foul, you're doing all these different things. [01:06:37] Everything is around your orbit. [01:06:40] And then when you go hang out with some other guys that it's not related to your show or anything you're doing in your life. [01:06:45] And we're genuinely just friends. [01:06:47] Yeah, everybody's just hanging. [01:06:48] There's no longer this pressure, this expectation, everybody waiting to see if it's time for you to go. [01:06:52] Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. [01:06:53] And then my connection always with y'all too is that watching that we were all in clubs together and have built this thing in like a parallel path. [01:07:01] So it's like now we're, now we're just sitting being homies. [01:07:04] We're dudes and now we're giving inside trader secrets, right? [01:07:07] Now it's like, oh, what's this? [01:07:08] What's that? [01:07:08] What's the deal on this? [01:07:09] What's the deal on that? [01:07:10] You know what I mean? [01:07:11] And you getting with Kells that night was special for me because I wanted, I had a lot multiple conversations with him where I was like, I have so many people that if they knew you were this charming, would feel so differently about you. [01:07:26] I was like, could you just humor me and just go show people this? [01:07:29] And he was like, and I love him so much because he was so open to it. [01:07:33] And it was so innocent because he was like, how? [01:07:36] And I was like, Bob, man, because, you know, he had come up such a rock star way it had been semi-traditional media. [01:07:41] Yeah. [01:07:42] So he had never like. [01:07:43] There wasn't a lot of opportunity to show personality. [01:07:46] Like you're only seeing art and you're only seeing pictures. [01:07:48] For sure. [01:07:49] And then you spoke about that about even like through podcasting. [01:07:52] Like podcasting, you really get a sense of like who somebody is. [01:07:55] You can't come in here and fake it for two and a half hours. [01:07:57] Two hours is a long time. [01:07:58] Boys on Flagrant. [01:07:59] I tell my people in Nashville that all the time. [01:08:01] Yeah. [01:08:01] You can't go sit on Joe Rogan for two and a half hours and Joe not get you to tell people who the fuck you are. [01:08:06] Exactly. [01:08:07] You know what I'm saying? [01:08:08] It's just inevitable. [01:08:09] You can't shoot. [01:08:10] Where if I go do a 12-minute clip for this particular show. [01:08:16] America or whatever. [01:08:17] It's pretty easy to kind of, you know, okay, we don't really got to really dig up into the weeds here. [01:08:22] And a lot of artists avoid this because they know that it can only do us wrong. [01:08:26] We can only, this is only risky for shit stories that come up. [01:08:29] Yeah, there's going to be shit stories. [01:08:30] There's going to be fucking funny headlines. [01:08:32] You know what I mean? [01:08:33] But if you are a magnetic personality, then it's a great platform. [01:08:37] It's a great place. [01:08:38] That's what I'm like, yo, pub, just like, come on. [01:08:40] I was like, and go somewhere you like, go somewhere you're interested in because you dig what they do or somewhere you feel safe. [01:08:46] Yeah. [01:08:47] And then immediately he was like, your friends were flagrant. [01:08:49] Yeah. [01:08:49] I was like, those are my boys. [01:08:51] Yeah. [01:08:51] And he was like, I got to get with them. [01:08:52] I was like, I'm going to tell you how that works. [01:08:54] You're going to have to meet them because they're dudes. [01:08:56] I need him to tell you. [01:08:58] I need him to tell that Leo story. [01:09:00] I'm not going to say anything else, but he told a story that man. [01:09:04] Listen, man, that dude's got the best stories. [01:09:07] We got to get him on his couch, man. [01:09:08] He's fucking up. [01:09:09] So he had an interesting thing. [01:09:10] Like, he's this young kid in Hollywood at the time where it's like him, Bieber, and like a few other people going. [01:09:19] And like. [01:09:19] Are you going to piss? [01:09:20] Yeah. [01:09:21] Yeah. [01:09:22] We can't let him drink water. [01:09:23] We can't let him drink water. [01:09:25] There's a bucket in the corner. [01:09:27] We're getting a little pissed by thou. [01:09:29] And it was just like going like that time where there are these young people in Hollywood just going crazy. [01:09:36] The stories that came out of that were quite, quite entertaining. [01:09:40] That's something else that we're judging, GK, because I think about this all the time for him. [01:09:44] I thank God I didn't burst on the scene at 25. [01:09:48] Yeah. [01:09:49] Because like the way I thought at 25 and would have projected myself into critical mass. [01:09:54] Yeah. [01:09:55] You know what I mean? [01:09:55] It would have not favored me for what I thought was cool, though, is like, because if you ask me a question, I'm going to give you a real answer. [01:10:01] And he was straight up. [01:10:02] He was just like, yeah, so what do you think this is? [01:10:04] And I was like, all right, well, these are my thoughts on it. [01:10:06] And that's heavy. [01:10:08] If you're asking me to describe your perception, where your career is at, all these different things, like I, I tell you honestly. [01:10:15] And he was like, he thought he was, he reflected on it. [01:10:18] He was like, oh, wow, I can see that. [01:10:20] A lot of people would fight for their perceived identity in that moment and be like, no, I disagree with you about these types of things. [01:10:27] But he like analyzed me. [01:10:28] He's like, oh, okay, I could see why that might be that. [01:10:30] And I was like, oh, that was kind of cool. [01:10:32] Yeah, he's so, man. [01:10:34] Every conversation I've ever had with him, he's so even down to like this. [01:10:37] I joked with you that night, and I met him. [01:10:39] Like, I'm his publicist right now. [01:10:40] That's how I feel. [01:10:40] You know what I'm saying? [01:10:41] I'm out here showing the world. [01:10:43] Like, this dude is so much, even when we got back to circle back to the him and M thing, it's like, that's why I see so much of them and each other. [01:10:50] I just think that he was so young during all of that, too. [01:10:54] You know what I mean? [01:10:54] Like, even what he did to initially make him mad into the battle era of like, you know, man, that dude's got a, you know, like, we're watching this new video with him, and I'm getting choked up watching his daughter get married and announce a child. [01:11:06] Yeah. [01:11:07] But equally, I'm just with MGK at MGK Day in Cleveland, and he's got a 16-year-old that's like already taking college classes. [01:11:15] Like, genius kid. [01:11:17] He's like, this dude flies every weekend from LA to go be a volleyball dad. === Honoring a Publicist Friend (15:22) === [01:11:23] You know what I mean? [01:11:24] Like, every weekend. [01:11:25] And I'm like, if people knew that about you, besides this picture of you wearing this fucking wild outfit, you know what I'm saying? [01:11:32] Like, it would be such a, I, I know how fast it made my shift of you. [01:11:37] Yeah. [01:11:37] You know what I mean? [01:11:37] Whenever I'm talking to you and I'm seeing the consistency, I'm like, well, yeah, he's like on my way to Cleveland. [01:11:41] I'm like, damn, volleyball again this weekend? [01:11:42] He was like, every weekend, dog, for 28. [01:11:44] He quit touring. [01:11:45] He took a year off of touring. [01:11:47] Yeah. [01:11:47] Tens of millions of dollars. [01:11:48] Like, nah, man, it's going to be like one of the last years I can watch her play. [01:11:51] Yeah. [01:11:51] Like, that's the kind of dude he is at, like, where his spirit's at right now for. [01:11:55] That's kind of the thing that comes out when you, you know, share your personal life. [01:11:58] But it's scary to share your personal life, too. [01:12:00] Super. [01:12:00] Especially when, you know, I imagine like there's certain people in the industry that have their idea of like crafting a rock star is a very specific certain thing. [01:12:10] Right. [01:12:10] And they're like, no, we have to keep you as mysterious and weird and all this other stuff. [01:12:15] And he might be like, okay, well, yeah, I like doing rock and I like dressing weird, but I also like going to volleyball games with my daughter. [01:12:22] And that's often more relatable than the mystery. [01:12:26] I think he like grew up in Egypt too or something. [01:12:27] Like, doesn't he have like Christian missionary parents or something like that? [01:12:30] I don't, I know his mother's like a Viking or something like that. [01:12:33] That's why he got all the blacks. [01:12:34] I swear, man, like super. [01:12:35] It's a crazy story. [01:12:36] That's why he got all that blackout shit tattooed on. [01:12:38] This one Craig told me one night the full story, but I was really high. [01:12:43] I was really, really. [01:12:44] So I don't want to butcher that story completely. [01:12:46] When was the last time you tied one on? [01:12:47] What was the last time you really went for it? [01:12:49] SNL. [01:12:50] Oh, really? [01:12:51] Of course. [01:12:52] Late night. [01:12:53] We came out of a bleling. [01:12:54] Some very reason. [01:12:55] Came out of a burlesque bar at eight o'clock in the morning with post in MGK. [01:12:59] Literally, the box or something like that. [01:13:01] Oh, follow you. [01:13:02] Super awesome. [01:13:04] Of course. [01:13:04] Why the fuck did I play? [01:13:05] Dude, listen, y'all. [01:13:06] I'm from Antioch, Tennessee, dude. [01:13:08] I played on Saturday Night Live. [01:13:11] You know how fucking absurd that is? [01:13:13] Like, when you really start rapping, like, if you, I tell people they know that I'm a criminal by my history and I talk about it openly. [01:13:20] But if you just like seen it on a sheet of paper and then said that guy played on Saturday Night Live, people like, get the fuck out of here. [01:13:28] Dude, to that point, I listened to this sports station in Dallas. [01:13:31] I always talk about it. [01:13:32] But they said you, you performed at a cafe in a radio station. [01:13:35] When I say cafe, I mean two vending machines, some small tables. [01:13:39] I don't even know like 995 the wolf, I think, is there in Dallas. [01:13:42] I don't know how long ago that was. [01:13:44] I can't even, I don't even understand that part of your life. [01:13:47] What is that journey like for you? [01:13:48] What do you reflect on? [01:13:49] Like, that moment? [01:13:51] Yeah, for sure. [01:13:51] That was just a few years ago, too, man. [01:13:53] That was just me going to radio and just trying to be like, yo, man, this is my record. [01:13:57] I just would be honored if y'all take a chance to hear it. [01:13:59] I was just like telling my story. [01:14:01] You know what I mean? [01:14:01] But even the early, dude, we played bars for when you see my show and double the test for this, it reeks of a man who's done a thousand. [01:14:11] You know what I mean? [01:14:12] Like, does that make sense? [01:14:13] Like, I kind of jumped with Schultz when I was like, have you ever had a shit on stage? [01:14:17] But I knew that he's done enough shows that there was a story there. [01:14:21] There's no way you've stood on that many stages and the bubble guts haven't hit you to the point of being like, I got to get the fuck off of here. [01:14:26] You know what I mean? [01:14:27] A difference between people who have had like years on the road, especially with comics, and then comics who like kind of blow up quick and they can be funny the comics that blow up quick, but there's different chops on stage. [01:14:39] Yeah, and I imagine the same thing is probably multiplied by 10 when it comes to bands or when it comes to music, like there is no replacement for a decade of shitty shows because that is going to put you in every scenario possible. [01:14:53] Dude, it's the tick tock era. [01:14:57] Oh man, this is good souls. [01:14:59] Yeah, has done this so much because these kids will blow up and be able to sell 2000 tickets but have never done a single show in their life. [01:15:07] Yeah, I mean you saw it with 3 000 or, with all due respect, like you saw with Ice Bice in our earliest shows, like here's this girl that goes from not doing anything to these like massive shows and she had to learn how to perform. [01:15:16] You got to learn how to perform in front of the world, like she had to, and imagine how scary that is. [01:15:21] You go from rapping in some random studio to having 10 000 people in front of you and you're just like fuck, it's not just saying the words anymore. [01:15:29] I got to dance, I got to have charisma. [01:15:30] It's a different game. [01:15:31] It is a. [01:15:32] It is a. [01:15:32] It is a totally different game. [01:15:35] It's also about them getting honest, booking agents. [01:15:39] I'm watching this Aaron Hernandez thing on the effects right now and it was so interesting when he's meeting with his agents. [01:15:44] Have y'all seen it yet? [01:15:45] No, i've heard. [01:15:45] It's pretty bad to me. [01:15:47] Look, they say that about all the Fx shows like that. [01:15:49] But i'm so into the story I watch I would watch an animation of whatever happened to that story. [01:15:55] It's crazy to me. [01:15:56] I've watched everything you can about it, but it was interesting. [01:15:59] I never seen the side of him meeting with the agents and, whether it's true or not, it reminded me of the tick tock era, because all these agents are coming in and they're like, you're a first round draft pick, you're a superstar, and then one agent comes in and goes, you're gonna be lucky if we get you picked in the third. [01:16:15] Oh, wow. [01:16:16] And he's like, i've already picked my guy, get out of here. [01:16:19] He said I will, but have they told you what's happening at the combine? [01:16:22] And he just kind of starts leaning in like they didn't tell you got to answer questions for three hours, did they? [01:16:27] They didn't tell you that all 52 teams get to ask you questions for three hours apiece. [01:16:32] Did they tell you this? [01:16:33] And he's going. [01:16:33] He said yeah, that's because some other agents are lying to you. [01:16:35] Call you when you call me, when you realize what's really going on. [01:16:38] So he ends up picking that guy though. [01:16:40] Yeah, but it's like that's happening in the tick tock world because some agents going in with their mom and dad, sometimes these tick tockers right, and this agent's going I can get y'all making twenty thousand dollars a show right now. [01:16:51] We're gonna go right into theaters, we're gonna do, and then they go meet another age, another booking agent, who's the right guy? [01:16:56] Who goes, look, I think we need to go play this like 300 cap room circuit. [01:17:02] Let's go do like 40 of these. [01:17:04] Just get her familiar with standing on stages looking at people in the eye. [01:17:08] We'll put her in theaters in the spring slowly, next spring we'll ramp her up and we'll put her on an amphitheater tour in three years with somebody and they're like fuck you. [01:17:17] And they go to the agent that puts them in front of 2000 people and they go out and fucking blow it and it sucks and everybody reviews it and the internet and all their tick tock fans review it, start arguing with each other about how bad the show is. [01:17:27] I see it happen in my business all the time. [01:17:29] Yeah, you know what I mean. [01:17:30] And the ones who do it right are the ones who go out. [01:17:32] Jesse Murph, the one I did Wild Ones with yeah, example of doing it right. [01:17:36] She could have came out the gate selling thousands of tickets, Man, they sent that girl over to Australia. [01:17:42] They sent her to the UK to do clubs. [01:17:45] They said they, I think, I mean, they had her going and doing abroad shows before she was doing big domestic shows. [01:17:51] Like, let her go figure it out. [01:17:52] You know, like it was. [01:17:53] Get your chops over there. [01:17:55] And that also shows how smart she was. [01:17:57] Yeah. [01:17:57] Because she was in no rush. [01:17:58] She was just like, Yeah, I know. [01:17:59] I know what I love about Jesse is, she's like my little sister. [01:18:02] She's so confident in what she does. [01:18:04] Yeah. [01:18:04] She's like, I'm here. [01:18:05] I just needed somebody to see I could do this. [01:18:07] I'm going to do this forever. [01:18:08] That's how she thinks. [01:18:09] So she wasn't in no rush. [01:18:10] You know what I mean? [01:18:10] She really cut her teeth. [01:18:12] And even then, just when she comes out with me at MSG, after that night, I'm like, I tell my wife, I'm like, is that not a different person from even just who came out with me at Jingle Ball MSG last year? [01:18:22] Yeah. [01:18:23] She was like a completely different person. [01:18:25] I was like, just watching her, you know, she'll be in arenas probably next year if I had to guess. [01:18:30] At least amphitheaters. [01:18:31] Can I say just about his show without spoiling what the show entails? [01:18:35] One thing I'll say, and I was with Vol at the show, it's a stadium show in an arena, which I think the last time I made that comment was when we saw like Travis Scott. [01:18:44] But just in terms of using the whole room, where I'm like, you'll be at MetLife doing this same thing where there's multiple stages, there's the runway that you're on. [01:18:53] And I'm like, this guy is using it. [01:18:55] And it's not only that, we've seen enough shows at MSG now that we can compare. [01:18:59] It's, you could just play up against that end stage and you're just seeing a concert. [01:19:03] You're blocking, like, meaning like you're the positioning that he's going between songs. [01:19:07] And when he's moving around these runways to the audience, like the entire arena is changing, his production is changing. [01:19:13] Things are lowering. [01:19:16] The skull, everything was just so perfectly planned that you're like, this guy's done this for years and he wouldn't waste like to do that level of production. [01:19:25] You can't, you can't cheat that. [01:19:26] Like that's something where we can now keep on adding it. [01:19:29] You're probably part of the production. [01:19:31] You told us how many trucks you have coming into that, but that show, if anyone could see this on the road, spectacular. [01:19:37] And not surprised. [01:19:39] But let me get back to you. [01:19:40] No, no, no, no, do you think that was very tasty? [01:19:45] You're all in store will cut whatever, but I didn't give anything, but you could tell who came out. [01:19:48] Yeah. [01:19:49] Oh, yeah, no, MGK came out. [01:19:51] Bust a bus came. [01:19:53] It's MSG. [01:19:54] Yeah, MSG. [01:19:55] Bust a bus came out. [01:19:56] Wow. [01:19:57] And he can perform his ass off, dude. [01:19:59] Listen, man, I have a rule that I don't watch a performer without stealing something. [01:20:04] It's my personal rule. [01:20:05] The good ones borrow, the great ones steal. [01:20:07] That's my rule. [01:20:08] If I come see you, stole something from you the other night, it's what I do. [01:20:10] Gotcha. [01:20:11] I'm coming. [01:20:11] I'm watching. [01:20:12] I'm stealing. [01:20:13] I love it. [01:20:13] And Bus was on my stage for four minutes and I stole something. [01:20:16] That's how good he was. [01:20:17] What he did. [01:20:18] Four minutes. [01:20:18] What he did. [01:20:19] Four minutes. [01:20:19] His opening was so old school hip-hop. [01:20:23] It was like, so I set it up. [01:20:25] There's this really my show is really telling a story. [01:20:29] Yeah. [01:20:29] But I'm telling two stories, right? [01:20:31] But they're the same story in the end. [01:20:33] The story of music, the story of the therapy of music, and how we all grew up listening to different kinds of music. [01:20:38] And I do this by like playing my music and then I'll throw covers in there to show the crowd like, oh, you don't think you know country music, but and then I have a trick where I'm like, you don't think you listen to hip-hop, but I do it in the form of a story, which I'll tell you off camera because I want you to punch it up. [01:20:53] But I set it up and I and I and I set the story up. [01:20:56] You heard me set the story up and I'm like, yeah, and I grew up listening. [01:20:59] I'm in New York, so I'm playing to it. [01:21:00] I'm like, I grew up listening to 50 Cent, which I did. [01:21:03] I grew up listening to Jay-Z. [01:21:05] I grew up listening to Big L. [01:21:07] I grew up listening to shit like. [01:21:09] And then Bus comes out, right? [01:21:11] And it comes out. [01:21:11] It's like one of them hip-hop, like, duh, duh, duh. [01:21:14] Hold up, duh, duh, duh. [01:21:16] Turn the music up. [01:21:17] Duh, da-da-da-da. [01:21:18] Shelly roll, ba, bada, buta. [01:21:20] And every time the beat would break, he would just scream something out. [01:21:23] Left side, ow, the fuck, butter, right side, ow. [01:21:27] And him would spliff. [01:21:28] Yeah. [01:21:29] And I'm watching them, dude. [01:21:30] I'm standing behind them having a, I got him on my legs now, goosebump moment. [01:21:34] And I'm like, that's why this dude is one of the greatest performers in hip-hop history. [01:21:39] Like, what song did he come out to? [01:21:43] Fuck, I don't remember the first record. [01:21:45] It went into Break Your Neck. [01:21:49] Don't this hit make my people bother. [01:21:51] Chomp, chump. [01:21:52] He did like a three-minute. [01:21:53] It was so hard to keep. [01:21:53] He did a three-minute medley, dude. [01:21:55] He did a medley of all the hips. [01:21:56] He did four or four-minute medley. [01:21:57] And I think I heard a piece of every one of his hits. [01:21:58] It was crazy. [01:21:59] He even put in the past the Cavassi 8, but just the musical part as an interlude into another big hit. [01:22:06] So it didn't even come in. [01:22:07] It was just that dear, man, don't this hit make my people want him? [01:22:12] And it was just so, and I was just like, man, what a way to do it. [01:22:15] Dude, we were broke when I first moved to LA. [01:22:16] So we would just go see rappers at like the late night shows, like Conan or Carson or whatever the fuck, Conan film like it's in New York. [01:22:21] But we saw him at like Carson Daly or something. [01:22:24] The room is half full. [01:22:25] He comes out, fucking destroys in a way. [01:22:28] I've been to rap concerts. [01:22:29] I haven't seen anything like this outside of Travis Scott. [01:22:32] And I was, everybody, and then one girl walked out and she was like, man, I saw him at the House of Blues. [01:22:36] Bottles were literally shaking on the bar just from how much everybody was jumping. [01:22:40] Like, he was, he's a crazy performer. [01:22:42] You have no clue. [01:22:43] Has it ever come to the shows that like it blew your mind? [01:22:46] Like your manager was like, by the way, Jelly, this person's going to be in attendance tonight. [01:22:49] That's great question. [01:22:50] What the fuck? [01:22:51] That's a good one. [01:22:51] I don't think nobody that I didn't see coming, like as far as everybody I'd already kind of built a relationship with. [01:22:58] So nobody kind of surprised me. [01:23:02] But I'm still surprised anytime anybody comes to match. [01:23:05] You know what I'm saying? [01:23:06] Like, I'm still like, oh, y'all know I do this. [01:23:09] But I think anytime an athlete comes out, it's always a little different for us because there's a lot of synergy with me and y'all, a lot of synergy with like anything on this side of art. [01:23:18] Yeah. [01:23:18] But I don't have as much synergy on that side. [01:23:21] You know what I mean? [01:23:22] So I still get excited every time Jimmy Butler posts one of my songs. [01:23:26] Like the kid in me is just like, that's fucking crazy. [01:23:28] And he posts me like once a month. [01:23:30] You know what I mean? [01:23:31] It still doesn't get any less exciting. [01:23:33] Yeah. [01:23:33] You know, that kind of stuff. [01:23:34] So like a couple of actors that are starting to kind of come around to what I do is be cool. [01:23:38] Oh, that's cool. [01:23:39] You know what I mean? [01:23:39] But it's been pretty cool. [01:23:40] I think even like Bus agreeing to come sing with me was really, really special. [01:23:46] Even post you gave like his own section of the show. [01:23:49] Like he had his songs and the ones he has with you, right? [01:23:52] Yeah, we did our song and then we did a, yeah, no, we did a country song together and then we did one of his. [01:23:55] I love Post, man. [01:23:56] Poe's another one I'd love to have on this couch. [01:23:58] Dude, he'll come do it. [01:23:59] Yeah. [01:24:00] I'll put y'all on the text tonight. [01:24:01] Yeah. [01:24:01] If you want to give it a picture of Time. [01:24:02] I got to talk about him being a Cowboy fan. [01:24:04] That's a done. [01:24:06] That's the easiest connection I'll ever make. [01:24:08] That dude is the most people in the Nashville go, Jelly Roll's one of the nicest guys ever until they meet Post Malone. [01:24:16] Post Malone is down. [01:24:17] Yeah, he was really sweet. [01:24:18] When we did crypto, he pulled up and he did a few songs. [01:24:22] It was pretty awesome. [01:24:23] That's just his fucking personality, dude. [01:24:25] That dude is fucking, he don't, he is like, he don't care is what makes him special. [01:24:31] Yeah. [01:24:32] Like we're backstage and I still play like it's a bar. [01:24:34] I know it's an arena. [01:24:36] But man, me and Post didn't talk about what we were doing until 20 minutes before the show. [01:24:40] Oh, fuck. [01:24:40] We didn't have one conversation about it. [01:24:42] And I'm like, yo, what about like, let's do this cover? [01:24:44] He's like, oh, I was like, first thing I sing when I see him in hallway, I'm like, you cool with just fucking around? [01:24:48] He's like, yeah, I was like, I'll see you later. [01:24:49] Then, right then, I knew it wasn't nothing to worry about. [01:24:51] I was like, I'll just go talk to this dude later. [01:24:53] And I went, I was just like, yo, let's just go fuck around. [01:24:55] Let's do this cover and do this. [01:24:56] And I was like, if I end up wanting to keep you out for this record, will you stay? [01:25:00] He was like, yeah, I'll stay. [01:25:01] And sure enough, I was like, fuck, we got to do this record. [01:25:03] It's the second biggest song in the world right now. [01:25:05] Him and that I had some help with him and Morgan. [01:25:09] I was like, I can't have you at this show and have the second biggest song in the world right now. [01:25:13] Don't do it. [01:25:14] You know what I mean? [01:25:15] He's like, you'll do Morgan's part? [01:25:16] I was like, hell no. [01:25:18] I was like, I'll butcher it. [01:25:19] I'll do the hook in the bridge. [01:25:21] He's like, all right, cool. [01:25:22] That's fire. [01:25:23] Do you have like any insight or opinion on the whole drama with Beyonce not getting nominated for any country awards? [01:25:29] Man, this is a slippery slope, too. [01:25:32] And I'll hang here with you because I'm willing to with my friends. [01:25:37] I think that the body of art was incredible. [01:25:41] There's no denying that, like, I always take all politics out of it before we even talk about those. [01:25:47] What did the art actually say? [01:25:49] Was it good? [01:25:50] Right. [01:25:51] And the record was good. [01:25:55] I don't know if it was Beyonce's best record. [01:25:57] You know what I mean? [01:25:58] It didn't make me feel the way even Renaissance made me feel as a full body of work. [01:26:02] But there was two or three songs on there that I thought could be Country Song of the Year for sure. [01:26:08] What she did with Jolene Alone to me could have been, was just unbelievable, you know, and how much Dolly loved it. [01:26:14] To me, that's the real tale, right? [01:26:15] If Dolly loves it, it's a big deal. [01:26:18] So my argument starts with the art. [01:26:19] My argument is, yeah, I think she should be nominated because the art was worthy of being nominated. [01:26:24] The flip side of the argument, and this is my argument, so I don't want to get crucified or nailed to this cross, is that Nashville is a small community that is trying to keep country music as a boundarylist genre. [01:26:36] And I know boundaryless seems like, well, that's the opposite of not putting Beyonce in it, but meaning like they never allowed country to get put in sub-genres like rock did. === Country Music Mainstream Moments (13:11) === [01:26:45] So like they've kind of like, country is one of the last genres left that you could just say there's a country music concert happening and a certain group of people will still just show up. [01:26:55] You know what I mean? [01:26:56] Like it don't really matter. [01:26:57] It's like, you know what I mean? [01:26:58] Like you could say there's a pop concert happening and somebody's going, who's going to be there? [01:27:02] God is. [01:27:03] They could say, hey, man, there's a country concert happening down the street and people will kind of just blindly go based on the consistency of country music. [01:27:11] That's being ran by the town of Nashville, my city, where I'm from. [01:27:15] But this is being ran from the industry. [01:27:17] It's like how, you know, like all the record labels are in New York for hip-hop. [01:27:20] All of them are for pop in LA or, you know, how it used to be, whatever, now it's kind of everywhere. [01:27:24] But these people looked at it, the people who are the 20,000 registered, 30,000 registered voters, like the Grammys only has that many voters or 60,000 or something, 100,000, whatever it is, right? [01:27:36] These people that are in that, look, they are only really hip to what's happening in Nashville. [01:27:42] Right? [01:27:43] So it's not as malicious as one thinks. [01:27:45] It's not like in my mind, from what I know of these people, the few, I don't know all 16,000 of the voters neither, right? [01:27:50] Or I'd fucking win more. [01:27:51] But it's like the ones I know are just more like, I just, they just missed it because to them, it was more of like a, you know, it was a big TikTok moment, the Texas Holding song. [01:28:01] They were like, you know, we're like in country music, there's, you know, we have, there's, there's three award shows, bare minimum, four really now a year that really matter, like to us as a community, like the ACMs, which is the Academy of Country Musics, the CMAs, which is the biggest night of country music. [01:28:18] This is the one that's coming up. [01:28:19] It's the Country Music Association. [01:28:21] I won the best new artist last year. [01:28:23] That was the speech. [01:28:24] That was awesome. [01:28:25] That was that speech. [01:28:25] That is the one, though. [01:28:26] That's like, that's a really big deal. [01:28:28] I'm nominated for Entertainer of the Year this year. [01:28:29] This is a huge, huge honor. [01:28:31] Congrats, my God. [01:28:32] And for some of these people, I think they just didn't see the visibility of the album. [01:28:36] Not that the album wasn't huge and it wasn't impactful or a great piece of art. [01:28:39] They just didn't see the visibility of it. [01:28:41] She didn't tour it. [01:28:43] It wasn't like Morgan Wallen is like out here selling out three stadiums a night like Beyonce did for Renaissance. [01:28:49] Now, had the same campaign happened for Renaissance that happened with this album, I would have stood up and been like, this is wrong. [01:28:56] You know what I mean? [01:28:57] But like to them, it was more of like an eclipse. [01:28:59] I can't speak for all 16,000 and this isn't how I feel. [01:29:03] Just what I've heard is like to them, it just felt like an eclectic art piece to try to broaden the horizons of the space. [01:29:08] And they felt like that a nod that's even bigger. [01:29:11] Some people in this town feel like what's even bigger than giving her a nod was that Shibuzi broke by being on her album and he's up for best new artists of the year and looking like a winner. [01:29:21] Yeah. [01:29:22] And he's having a huge year at country radio and a huge year at all the country award shows. [01:29:25] And like he's in Nashville in the community writing Nashville writers. [01:29:30] He's a lot of culture. [01:29:31] He loves the culture of Nashville. [01:29:32] Whereas Beyonce is a little bit more of an outsider. [01:29:36] And I'm not saying, I don't think that makes it right that she wasn't nominated. [01:29:38] Yeah. [01:29:39] I want to say that. [01:29:39] She's a compromiser, is what you're saying. [01:29:42] Thank you, Shulf. [01:29:42] Thank you. [01:29:43] I get that. [01:29:43] She's more of an gentrifier, if you will. [01:29:46] I don't want to be the guy who's like, using the art form. [01:29:48] Yeah, I got you. [01:29:49] A Kardashian. [01:29:50] You got it. [01:29:51] Goddamn. [01:29:51] Wow. [01:29:52] Goddess. [01:29:53] I got it. [01:29:58] I got the point you're trying to make. [01:29:59] I wouldn't say any of those things. [01:30:01] I think she's a brilliant, talented artist. [01:30:03] I love lemonade. [01:30:05] But it is, you know, I get it. [01:30:07] These are the tough things that you got to, you got to work. [01:30:09] No, I get it because it's the same in the film world and the academy. [01:30:11] Nobody asks. [01:30:13] I'm trying to show, go, go, go. [01:30:14] I'm saying it's the same. [01:30:15] It's the same thing that applies, like, why people see the nominations. [01:30:17] There's 10,000 people in the academy. [01:30:19] And like, I would guess how, what percentage of that's like over 60 that's just been focused on like what Hollow gives you, what wins at some of the film festivals. [01:30:28] So when I lost it to Grammys, it was coming from the outside. [01:30:30] Yeah, I wasn't upset when I lost at the Grammys this year because I knew that to the Grammy audience, I was new. [01:30:36] Right. [01:30:36] So a lot of these people didn't know I was a human. [01:30:38] They didn't see me on the bill. [01:30:39] Yeah. [01:30:39] And then they seen me at the best new artist, like performance, and then they seen me in the building and they felt my spirit. [01:30:45] And now I feel like next year I might have a better chance. [01:30:47] I feel like every year I'm building a better chance towards it. [01:30:51] There might have also been a perception where it's just like, if you're the size and success story, just the magnitude of Beyonce, and you pick any other genre to create music in, you're also like one of the most talented human beings ever. [01:31:05] You pick any other genre, it's going to be popular. [01:31:08] Like if she decides to do techno, it's going to be a number one, like whatever genre she decides to do it. [01:31:13] So maybe there's that feeling where it's like anybody that big that decides to do country is going to have the number one album. [01:31:20] They have to be embedded in the culture and really invest time in the culture to be considered like one of the impactful or was it just Beyonce dropping an album? [01:31:28] Because she's at the size where she can't be avoided. [01:31:31] Like if she decides to put out a rap album, number one, like anything she puts out, I said this a minute then. [01:31:35] I was on record early about this. [01:31:37] I'm glad it stood the test of time. [01:31:40] I, of course, obviously, and there's going to be country music fans that are going to be like, you weren't welcome here. [01:31:45] But it's like, I was so glad she was here. [01:31:47] I welcomed her with open arms. [01:31:49] Like, I was like, I think it's great for country. [01:31:50] Same thing I felt about Post. [01:31:52] Like, it's great for country. [01:31:54] Do you know how hard it was to get people to, like, especially in the world of music, people would just fly right over Nashville to Memphis. [01:32:02] Just didn't even think about it. [01:32:03] Whether it was hip-hop, blues, soul, anything, Memphis had all the culture. [01:32:07] I mean, Nashville just frog jumped over. [01:32:10] Anything that was like country music in itself, country culture, like what Beyonce did for fucking cowboy hat sales is unheard of. [01:32:20] No, no, listen, man, this is a true story. [01:32:22] I went to the um, there's a right there on Sunset. [01:32:25] I wish I could remember his name. [01:32:26] My boy Miles was with me that night. [01:32:28] He's a cowboy for Really Rides Horses, my dude that you thought looked like the crud guy. [01:32:33] He uh, he went to this shop, and it's like an old school, famous spot on Sunset that sells leather belts, leather hats, just like an old cowboy store right there on Sunset. [01:32:41] And he went in there, and the guy says, He's known the guy forever. [01:32:43] The guy's been stored 20, 30 years, something. [01:32:46] He goes, How's business? [01:32:47] He goes, better than ever. [01:32:49] He goes, Really? [01:32:49] What's happening? [01:32:50] He said, Two things: Morgan Wallen and Beyonce. [01:32:55] Literally, that's exactly like, and this is an old man's perspective who probably doesn't know what's going on in the world. [01:33:02] He just knows that a lot more motherfuckers showed up in his store in the last 12 months. [01:33:06] Do you remember what Drew and Run DMC and Aerosmith did walk this way? [01:33:12] Like, that's an Adidas. [01:33:13] What's that? [01:33:14] No, and then Adidas. [01:33:15] And the Adidas things went crazy, but also just, it's a great moment for hip-hop. [01:33:19] It's also a great moment for rock, but this is a time where rock was the dominant form. [01:33:23] And then you do a song with this new up-and-coming, exciting genre of music, and it's a smash fucking hit. [01:33:32] You don't think that that's going to help run DMC? [01:33:33] Now, I'm not saying that country isn't absolutely, it's probably the most popular right now, but when you take one of the most popular artists of all time and she decides to embrace the genre, that's great for the genre. [01:33:43] Huge. [01:33:44] And I think she should have been nominated for that alone. [01:33:46] Yeah. [01:33:47] You know what I mean? [01:33:48] And that's why I said, but I get, I know how Nashville looked. [01:33:50] I think Nashville just missed it. [01:33:52] I don't think it was malicious. [01:33:53] That's what I will say. [01:33:54] I think it was malicious in the midst, like they missed it. [01:33:58] It was unjust. [01:33:58] Yeah, like, yeah, like y'all kind of, you know what I mean? [01:34:00] But I don't think they missed it. [01:34:02] Like, I don't think it was a turner back to them, her thing. [01:34:05] I wonder if Country. [01:34:06] And I think what she did and her impact is already being proven. [01:34:09] Do you see like the politics of Nashville changing now that country has become like the dominant art form? [01:34:14] Like, are people trying to buy streams within Nashville in a way that you haven't seen in the past? [01:34:19] Like, has the business corrupted? [01:34:20] No, no, no. [01:34:21] I think it's just expanded. [01:34:22] The business of Nashville has just gotten bigger with artists like Beyonce, artists like Post. [01:34:28] Now, Post came to Nashville and did the whole Nashville thing. [01:34:33] The city just, I think he spent that whole album. [01:34:36] I spent two or three months there working on that record. [01:34:39] But you just see the business of Nashville getting bigger, man. [01:34:41] What I love about it is seeing country getting mainstream moments. [01:34:45] Like when M, when I was on M's album, that was like huge for us as a genre. [01:34:51] Because like for so many years, we like, I'll never forget when T.I. got on Branley Gilbert's bottoms up remix. [01:35:01] And I was like, this was 2006. [01:35:04] And I was like, no fucking way. [01:35:07] Oh, rap people, no country people. [01:35:10] You know what I mean? [01:35:11] Like, it was like, no way. [01:35:12] Like, so for that to have went from that to me being on M's album, Morgan being on Dirk's album, Morgan being on Money Bag Yo's records. [01:35:21] You know what I'm saying? [01:35:22] Like these kind of, these are the crossovers that are like, I think are super cool. [01:35:26] Like whenever I see Lainey go rock with a pop girl, you know what I'm saying? [01:35:29] I'm just like, kick-ass, Laney, kick-ass. [01:35:32] What's that wagon like in person? [01:35:34] You asked me that the last time. [01:35:35] Two years late. [01:35:37] You're not an antsy. [01:35:40] We need to see that before the Ozempa gets in Nashville, bro. [01:35:44] Because that thing looked crazy. [01:35:45] There's like a few images of it where it just looks absurd. [01:35:49] I'd like to see her shit backstage. [01:35:51] She's hell. [01:35:54] With all disrespect. [01:35:55] With all the disrespects. [01:35:57] I'm all very elite. [01:35:58] I'm a married man. [01:36:00] Obviously, there's like somebody. [01:36:01] The cheetah print pants or something. [01:36:03] Yeah, yeah. [01:36:04] This guy is so funny. [01:36:07] But it doesn't happen to me. [01:36:08] So which one is she? [01:36:10] Can you remind me? [01:36:12] You know what I love about y'all and about pop culture is that's two years old. [01:36:15] And as soon as I brought up Lainey Wilson's name, both of y'all were like, what's up with the wagon? [01:36:20] She talked to me about the thing. [01:36:22] Oh, yeah. [01:36:23] Oh, yeah. [01:36:24] Oh, she got new ones, too. [01:36:26] Nah, she don't got new ones. [01:36:27] Yeah, some pops. [01:36:27] Miles has been having a question for an hour. [01:36:29] What do you want to ask Miles? [01:36:30] Upcoming country artists that you find right now that you're like, that's the next big one. [01:36:34] Me and Mark this year listened to a lot of Red Clay Strays. [01:36:37] Oh, yeah. [01:36:38] Oh, I met those guys the other day. [01:36:40] Yeah, they're at the cellar. [01:36:41] They're big comedy fans. [01:36:42] Shout out Red Clay Strays, man. [01:36:43] They're awesome. [01:36:44] Yeah, and they're like, great, great hang. [01:36:46] Yeah. [01:36:46] Oh, wow. [01:36:47] That's all. [01:36:47] Yeah, yeah. [01:36:48] They're huge. [01:36:49] I love the Alabama. [01:36:51] Treaty Oak Revival is another one of you. [01:36:53] I'm trying to see who to put on the spot. [01:36:55] If you like the Red Clay Strays, you'll love Treaty Oak Revival. [01:36:57] They're real fun. [01:36:58] Their shows are super fun and rowdy. [01:37:00] It's kind of got that Red Clay Stray vibe. [01:37:01] Teske Brothers? [01:37:03] Not her. [01:37:04] Never heard of them? [01:37:04] No, you'll hit me. [01:37:05] Oh, they're awesome. [01:37:06] Yeah, you'll hit me. [01:37:07] Oh, you're going to love them. [01:37:08] There's this kid. [01:37:09] I wouldn't say he's new. [01:37:12] What about Malone Black? [01:37:14] Never heard of Malone Black. [01:37:15] Malone Black is freaking out. [01:37:17] Are y'all fucking with me? [01:37:18] No, Malone Black. [01:37:23] I'm getting trolled. [01:37:24] Yeah. [01:37:24] Go ahead. [01:37:25] Just tell me about Malone Black. [01:37:26] Malone Black is one of the greatest country artists of all time. [01:37:29] You like Zach Top? [01:37:33] You don't know about Malone Black? [01:37:35] Who? [01:37:37] Shut up, Dub. [01:37:38] Just Malone Black digging your mouth. [01:37:44] You're a pity who really fucking killed me off right there. [01:37:47] Compliment. [01:37:48] Anyway, I want to know who else. [01:37:50] Who else? [01:37:50] Who else? [01:37:51] Zach Top. [01:37:51] Zach Top. [01:37:52] You heard his kid. [01:37:53] I sleep like a baby. [01:37:55] Oh, yeah. [01:37:55] I'm average show. [01:37:57] I'm late. [01:37:57] No. [01:37:59] Dylan Marlowe. [01:38:00] That seems cool. [01:38:01] Who? [01:38:01] Dylan Marlowe. [01:38:02] I love Dylan Marlowe. [01:38:03] Yeah, he's awesome. [01:38:04] I love Dylan Marlowe. [01:38:05] So listen, he's got a brother. [01:38:06] There's two of them. [01:38:06] It's a Dylan and a Cameron. [01:38:08] Okay. [01:38:08] And I always get in trouble for this, and I double down on every time because I'm a dumbass. [01:38:12] One of them is handsome, and one of them can sing. [01:38:16] So you answer me this question. [01:38:19] Is Dylan Marlowe handsome? [01:38:21] Tell the truth. [01:38:22] Yeah, he's handsome. [01:38:23] He can sing because it sounds like he can sing. [01:38:25] It sounds like he's singing. [01:38:26] Yeah. [01:38:27] Okay, so he's not the handsome one. [01:38:28] I haven't seen the brother. [01:38:29] Okay, no, no, no. [01:38:30] He is the handsome one. [01:38:31] You're right. [01:38:32] Yeah. [01:38:33] Now look up Cameron Marlowe. [01:38:35] Hold on. [01:38:35] So he got looks and he could sing. [01:38:37] The other one's just. [01:38:38] And I don't know that they're kin to each other, by the way. [01:38:41] Oh, this guy. [01:38:42] This guy is handsome. [01:38:42] No, that's not. [01:38:43] No, you said that's the one. [01:38:44] That's the one I can see. [01:38:47] And I'm not saying the other guy. [01:38:48] First of all, I know them both and they're both awesome. [01:38:51] Cameron and Dylan are great. [01:38:52] I do confuse them and I'm sorry. [01:38:54] I smoke pot. [01:38:55] But I can name both of their songs right now because he's got that here to the boys. [01:39:00] That dude's right. [01:39:01] He's a hit. [01:39:02] That kid's going to be a hit. [01:39:03] Dylan Cameron is the other Marlowe, and he's just got a really big. [01:39:10] Cameron's a good singer, but this kid has got a different like. [01:39:14] We're all singers, and we know who the singers are. [01:39:17] He's one of the singers. [01:39:18] Does that make sense? [01:39:19] Like, y'all, you know, like, we know who the singers are. [01:39:21] This dude is. [01:39:23] That's cool. [01:39:23] They don't look a lot like that. [01:39:24] No, but Cameron's got hits, though. [01:39:26] That dude's a great writer. [01:39:27] But follow this guy, too. [01:39:28] Follow both the Marlowe's. [01:39:29] They're great.
