Epoch Times - Why the Chinese Regime Is a ‘Criminal State’: Nicholas Eftimiades Aired: 2025-05-19 Duration: 01:35 === Criminal State Espionage (01:35) === [00:00:00] We've seen criminal gangs that support the Ministry of State Security. [00:00:04] Not only are they stealing technologies, but they're actually doing denial of service attacks and ransomware attacks and actually doing criminal activities in addition to that. [00:00:13] You have a criminal state. [00:00:15] It's simply the bottom line. [00:00:16] You have a criminal state that supports these to degrade the United States and to further the greatest transfer of wealth in history. [00:00:26] There is also a concerted effort. [00:00:29] Through the state-owned enterprises, right? [00:00:32] China had 300,000. [00:00:35] Now they have about 150,000 state-owned enterprises, 50,000 of which are at the central government level. [00:00:41] About 112 are really large-scale, several hundred thousand employees. [00:00:45] And those entities are controlled, and they do some collection activities, theft of technology in particular, economic espionage. [00:00:55] On behalf of the CCP. [00:00:57] So you have that entire structure, which would be unheard of in free democracies. [00:01:02] You have universities in the same way, collecting on behalf of the CCP. [00:01:07] I mean, we've seen this. [00:01:08] I have over 50 some odd number of universities have been identified in court documents in economic espionage cases. [00:01:16] So we see this at the corporate structure. [00:01:18] We see this at the university structure. [00:01:20] We see it in China's intelligence agencies. [00:01:24] So this is what I mean by a strategic threat. [00:01:26] It's a threat on a scale far vaster than any of our services, our counterintelligence, our security services are used to dealing with.
