Trump Gets $200M Windfall of Cash After Verdict; Secret Service Issues Statement
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
On Thursday evening, when the guilty verdict came back against President Trump, well, the blowback was immediate, and it came in the form of tens of millions of dollars flowing into his campaign coffers.
Specifically, shortly after the verdict was handed down, President Trump came out, and he gave a short public address wherein he said the following.
And we went up a lot over the last month, because everybody said it was a rigged deal, it was a rigged trial.
But we're going to make America great again.
We're going to make it better than ever before.
November 5th.
Remember, November 5th is the most important day in the history of our country.
Thank you very much, everybody.
Then, within the span of about 24 hours, the Trump campaign announced that they had hauled in a staggering $53 million in donations.
Quote, Donald J. Trump's campaign announced on Friday evening that he had raised nearly $53 million in the 24 hours after his felony conviction, shattering online records for Republicans and raking in enough cash to help him close what has been a substantial financial gap with Joe Biden.
Now the sheer amount of money that was raised in that first 24-hour period of time was truly staggering.
For instance, the Biden campaign, they raised a total of only $51 million in all of April, which is less than what was donated in that one single day.
Quote, But it would nearly match, in a single day, the $58 million that Mr. Trump's main fundraising arm raised online in the last six months of 2023.
Although, just as an aside, it is perhaps worth mentioning that Trump's conviction also apparently galvanized Democrats to donate to Joe Biden as well, although to a much lesser extent.
Quote, The conviction appeared to be driving Democratic donations as well, though to a much lesser extent.
ActBlue, which processes online contributions for Democrats, registered three of its four biggest hours of donations in all of 2024 on Thursday evening in the wake of the conviction, topping out nearly 1.3 million dollars in a single hour.
Which is apparently a lot, but again, it is a far stretch from what President Trump's side received.
Now again, this $53 million was just the amount that came in within the first one day.
Since then, however, it's now been three days after the conviction, and the amount donated to the Trump campaign has continued to skyrocket.
And what's interesting is that a large percentage of these funds are coming from small donors, including 30% coming from first-time donors who have never given to a political campaign before at all.
In fact, in a recent segment over on Fox News, you have President Trump's son, Mr. Eric Trump, break down some of the numbers they were seeing on the back end.
Take a listen.
Just for your reference, Eric Trump's wife, that he mentions in that clip, is Laura Trump, who recently became the co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
This might be a little inside information, but as I was leaving my house about 37 seconds ago, I asked my wife, what are we up to now?
And she said, just in terms of small dollar, we're well over $70 million.
This is $21 donations, $43 donations, right?
Small dollar donations.
If you add the large dollar donations to it, You're over $200 million, but you're over $70 million.
And by the way, Maria, 30% of those people have never been seen before by a political party, right?
I mean, these are Americans who are pissed off.
They're coming out of the woodwork, and they want to support a guy that they just believe is getting bamboozled by a system.
Now, aside from the huge haul of campaign cash, there have been some other post-conviction developments.
For instance, with the real prospect of jail time looming for President Trump in the near future, well, the Secret Service came out and they gave an update, saying that whether or not he's placed into jail has no bearing on Secret Service protection.
Here's specifically what the Secret Service told us here at the Epoch Times after we reached out to them with some questions.
Today's outcome has no bearing on the manner in which the United States Secret Service carries out its protective mission.
Our security measures will proceed unchanged.
Although it is perhaps worth mentioning that they made a point to not lay out any specifics of how they'll be conducting their operations, such as whether there will be an agent in the cell with President Trump if he happens to go to jail.
For all settings around the world, we study locations and develop comprehensive and layered protective models that incorporate state-of-the-art technology, protective intelligence, and advanced security tactics to safeguard our protectees.
Beyond that, we do not comment on specific protective operations.
Now, it is perhaps worth mentioning that while the Secret Service came out and made clear that they will continue to protect President Trump even if he's behind bars, well, there are members of Congress that are trying to change that.
For instance, back in April, when the Stormy Daniels trial first began, you had Congressman Benny Thompson, he's a Democrat from the state of Mississippi, and he filed this bill right here, H.R.
8081, or as he titled it, the quote, Denying infinite security and government resources allocated toward convicted and extremely dishonorable Former Protectees Act, otherwise known as the disgraced Former Protectees Act.
And as the title pretty much makes clear, this new bill would quote, strip Secret Service protection from former presidents upon sentencing following conviction for a federal or state offense that is punishable for a term of imprisonment for at least one year.
Now, given the fact that this bill was referred to the House Judiciary Committee, whose current chairman is Mr. Jim Jordan, a Republican from Ohio, as well as the added layer of fact that Republicans control the House as a whole, meaning that this bill is probably not going anywhere.
But it does show that there's at least a strain of thought within Congress looking to strip President Trump of his Secret Service protection if he were to get thrown into jail.
And a bit along that line, President Trump gave an interview to Fox News just yesterday wherein he said that he's okay with the prospect of jail time and he added the following.
I'm okay with it.
I saw one of my lawyers the other day on television saying, oh no, you don't want to do that to the president.
I said, don't, you don't beg for anything.
You just, the way it is.
Think of it.
They have all my books.
You know, they went to, for five years they sued me getting my tax returns, right?
At the end of five years, they got them.
The Supreme Court actually gave it to them.
That was the end of it.
That was it.
They never found anything.
They are the best accounting firms.
I had a pure gold firm.
They called it a gold-rated firm.
I don't know what it's supposed to be.
Who knows?
But with all that stuff, for years you heard about my tax— You never looked into the Clinton Foundation?
And they never found it.
They never went all the way with the Clinton Foundation.
They never went all the way with the Clinton Foundation, which is sort of interesting, isn't it?
That could happen.
I don't know that the public would stand it, you know?
I'm not sure the public would stand for it.
So you could try a house arrest?
I think it would be tough for the public to take.
You know, at a certain point, there's a breaking point.
And that general sentiment about things reaching a boiling point was actually echoed by Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, who said the following over on Fox Business.
You know, a sad day in America, and what I worry about is something even bigger than Donald Trump.
I worry about strife.
I worry about war in the streets.
I worry about 50% of the public believing that the court system will be used against them, you know, once upon a time it was because of the color of your skin, now because of the shade of your ideology.
I worry about that, and I worry when half the country thinks they won't be treated fairly, what happens and how people react.
And so, that is where we currently stand.
President Trump was found guilty of all 34 counts against him in the Stormy Daniels New York case.
His fundraising, as a result, went through the roof after the verdict was handed down.
And then, in terms of the next step, well, we'll have to wait a month and a half until July 11th, which is when Judge Merchant will actually hand down the punishment.
It'll be up to the judge to decide whether or not President Trump gets sentenced to jail, probation, a fine, or a combination of all three.
Until then, I'd love to know what you think.
Do you think that this conviction will ultimately help President Trump secure the victory in November, evidenced by the rise in donations?
Or do you think that the independent voters in the middle, they will be turned off by the prospect of voting for someone who's an actual convicted felon?
I'd love to know your thoughts.
Please leave them in the comment section below.
I'll be reading through them later tonight as well as over the next week.
And also, as you're making your way down there to the comment section, take a small detour to smash those like and subscribe buttons so that this content can reach ever more people via the YouTube algorithm.
All right, just to pause here for a super quick moment.
Listen, it's obvious that the financial system is not looking too great.
After being pumped up with trillions of virtually free government dollars for many, many years now, well, the stock bubble might actually burst in the near future.
And in that process, unfortunately, it could take away the nest egg of anyone who happens to be exposed to it.
And so, consider taking this opportunity to diversify into something which is beyond the grasp of Washington D.C.
and Wall Street, physical gold and silver.
And the best company to use, in my opinion, is the sponsor of today's episode, American Hartford Gold, who I should mention is also my own personal gold and silver bullion dealer.
And besides myself, they have thousands of 5-star reviews from other Americans, and they also have an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.
And working with them is rather simple.

They have super friendly staff who you can call and they can set up either gold delivery directly to your doorstep or they can even set you up in a gold IRA.
