Time Text
There's also just a kind of spiritual element here where people really are in love with the idea of generating our electricity from sunlight and wind.
And it sounds good, but the problem is that we need power when the sun's not shining, the wind's not blowing.
So there are forms of electricity generation that It means they can produce electricity whenever you want.
And that includes hydroelectric dams, nuclear plants, coal plants, natural gas plants.
Solar and wind are weather-dependent renewables so that if the sun's not shining, then you're not gonna generate any electricity out of your solar panel.
If the wind isn't blowing, then you're not gonna generate any electricity.
So what you end up doing with weather-dependent renewables is you might add them on top of your existing power supply, but you have to maintain that existing power supply because civilization depends on it.
When you deprive a high-energy civilization like ours in California of electricity for any amount of time, really, people die.
I mean, we have hospitals, we have highways, we have air conditioning.
We need electricity to survive at this point.
