[00:00:00]  So I got assigned this white officer.
[00:00:02]  He was 6'4", tall, blonde hair, blue eyed.
[00:00:05]  The stereotypical picture of what you would think a racist cop with a big handlebar mustache.
[00:00:08]  So we ended up getting in the car with him and we're driving to Oakwood where he worked.
[00:00:12]  And I couldn't believe I was hearing it.
[00:00:13]  What's up, Snow?
[00:00:13]  How you doing, Snowden?
[00:00:14]  God bless you, man.
[00:00:15]  Thank you, man.
[00:00:16]  Thanks for what you did for me, man.
[00:00:17]  I appreciate you.
[00:00:18]  Thanks for saving my cousin.
[00:00:19]  And I'm sitting here like...
[00:00:21]  In shock, right?
[00:00:23]  This white guy is getting more love than I've ever seen a black person get, right?
[00:00:26]  So one day I asked him, I said, sir, why do these people love you so much?
[00:00:30]  I'm thinking in my head, in my woke mind, are you so corrupt and so dangerous that these people are afraid of you that they say hello to you?
[00:00:36]  So he pulls the car over and says, Dion, this is Oakwood.
[00:00:39]  It's the most dangerous part of the area we serve.
[00:00:41]  The people who live here understand there's a high level of crime and they know why we're here.
[00:00:45]  Here's the thing they want from you and me.
[00:00:47]  Whether we're arresting them, saving them, counseling them, they just want us to treat them like human beings with dignity and respect.
[00:00:53]  And as long as you work with me, young man, you will treat everyone we contact with dignity and respect.
