US Navy Warship Suffers Virus Outbreak Among ‘100 Percent Immunized’ Crew | Facts Matter

Good evening, and I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas.
And specifically, I hope that you had a better Christmas than the sailors who were onboard the USS Milwaukee.
Because on Christmas Eve, and despite the fact that 100% of those sailors were fully vaccinated, they had a COVID outbreak onboard the ship, which forced them to suspend operations and dock at Guantanamo Bay.
And if you've been following this story, you know that it's not only happening to warships because on that very same day, a cruise liner with fully vaccinated passengers as well as a fully vaccinated staff, they likewise experienced a COVID outbreak which stopped them from being able to dock in Mexico.
And then lastly, as all of this is taking place, the University of California fired the director of their medical ethics program because he defied the COVID vaccine mandate.
Let's go through it all together.
This is your daily Fox Matter update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times.
And actually, I would like to begin today's episode with a super quick announcement.
Since many people asked for it, we have just created a second YouTube channel called Facts Matter Clips.
Because a lot of people, they've been messaging me and saying that they would like to send just a portion of an episode to a friend, a coworker, or somebody else without sending them the full episode.
And so, on that second channel, we'll be posting the individual segments of our episodes as their own separate videos.
That way, you can easily watch them for yourself, and then you can easily share them with your friends and your family.
And also, it'll be a bit of a safety net in case YouTube ever decides to get even less friendly to our main channel here.
I'll throw a link to the new Clips channel.
It'll be right there at the very top of the description box.
I hope you check it out, and I hope that you subscribe.
Now, let's begin today's discussion by talking about COVID outbreaks on board ships.
Now, in several previous episodes, we have already discussed how, over the last few weeks, there have been a number of COVID outbreaks on board cruise ships, despite the fact that everyone on board those ships was fully vaccinated.
In fact, there was a case of that happening just last week aboard the Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas, which is the largest cruise ship in the world.
And they had a large COVID outbreak, despite the fact that even just to get on that ship, you needed to be fully vaccinated as a prerequisite.
However, up until now, these virus outbreaks, they have only been occurring on the civilian side, not on the military side.
However, that has now all changed.
That's right.
Four days ago, a U.S. warship whose crew was 100% vaccinated, they experienced a COVID outbreak, which actually caused them to pause their deployment.
Let me just repeat that.
A Navy warship whose crew was 100% vaccinated, meaning that every single person on board was fully vaccinated.
And yet they still had to pause their deployment to South America due to an outbreak of COVID.
Here's specifically what the U.S. 4th Fleet released as part of their statement on Christmas Eve.
The USS Milwaukee, a freedom variant literal combat ship, remains in port as some sailors test positive for COVID-19.
The crew is 100% immunized and all COVID-19 positive sailors are isolated on board and away from other crew members.
A portion of those infected have exhibited mild symptoms.
The vaccine continues to demonstrate effectiveness against serious illness.
With the implication being of that last sentence, I can only assume that if the sailors were not all vaccinated, then their symptoms would have been much more severe.
At least that is what the Navy is saying in this statement.
Now, specifically, what happened was that on December the 14th, the USS Milwaukee departed from Mayport, Florida, with an onboard crew of over 100 sailors, a helicopter combat unit, as well as a Coast Guard law enforcement unit.
And they were all heading into the U.S. 4th Fleet area of operations in order to provide support to our anti-illegal drug trafficking missions in both the Caribbean as well as in the Eastern Pacific.
And on their way, the ship made a stop at Guantanamo Bay on Monday in order to refuel as well as to resupply.
However, that stop got a little bit extended when they began to find these positive COVID cases among their fully vaccinated crew, and therefore they had to suspend operations, and the ship now remains in port over at Guantanamo Bay, which is of course located on the southeastern end of Cuba.
Now, there are a lot of things still that we don't know about this particular case, such as how many soldiers have been infected, how many of them are exhibiting mild symptoms, as well as the specific strain of the virus that they were dealing with.
None of that has thus far at least been publicly released.
However, the Navy did say that they are, quote, following an aggressive mitigation strategy in accordance with both Navy as well as CDC guidelines.
However, as I mentioned earlier in the beginning of the segment, these types of incidents with fully vaccinated ships are starting to become the norm.
For instance, on the very same day that this warship had to go into quarantine at Guantanamo Bay, there was another story that came out of another cruise ship which experienced a COVID outbreak despite everyone on board being fully vaccinated.
Now, that particular cruise ship, it was operated by a company called Holland America, and according to their rules that you can find online, all the passengers, as well as all the crew members, they must not only be fully vaccinated, but they must also provide a negative COVID test prior to boarding the ship.
And then, while they are on board the ship, both the passengers as well as the crew members, they have to wear masks while they're inside.
And yet, Mexican health officials, they discovered positive COVID cases among the crew and denied entry to this ship.
Specifically, according to a statement from the Mexican Health Department in the state of Jalisco, they said that a total of 21 crew members aboard this particular ship, they had tested positive for COVID when the ship arrived to a popular tourist city called Puerto Vallarta.
Here's specifically what part of their statement read.
After the outbreak of COVID-19 among the crew members was confirmed yesterday, the health authorities of Jalisco prohibited the disembarkation of the cruise ship in order to avoid contagion in the inhabitants and tourists of Puerto Vallarta.
So far, there are 21 COVID-19 infections.
Given the events, the Jalisco Health Secretariat analyzed the epidemiological situation and determined that there was an active outbreak on the boat, causing the exponential growth of confirmed cases in the crew.
Now, likewise, Holland America, which is again the company that operates this particular cruise liner, they released their own statement both confirming the outbreak and also saying that they are heading back to San Diego.
Here's what the company said in a statement.
Through onboard testing, we have confirmed that a small number of fully vaccinated crew on the Koningsdam, which is the name of the ship, tested positive for COVID-19.
All are showing mild or no symptoms and are in isolation.
Close contacts have been quarantined out of an abundance of caution due to a last-minute notification from authorities that guests would not be permitted ashore.
The ship departed and will return to San Diego to arrive in two days as scheduled.
Guests were notified and continue to enjoy activities aboard the vessel.
Activities which probably now include regular COVID testing.
Now, we here at the Epoch Times, we did reach out to Holland America for comment on the current state of their ship, but we have yet to hear back.
However, what's worth noting is that just a few days before the incident with this Holland America ship, there was another ship, specifically a ship called Odyssey of the Seas, which is operated by Royal Caribbean, and their ship, likewise, it was denied entry at two different ports because of a COVID outbreak that they experienced on board.
Here's in fact what Royal Caribbean wrote to us here at the Epoch Times in a statement detailing what happened.
Royal Caribbean International's Odyssey of the Seas will not visit Curacao or Aruba as planned.
The decision was made together with the island out of an abundance of caution due to the current trend of COVID-19 cases in the destination's communities as well as crew and guests testing positive on board.
55 crew members and guests representing 1.1% of the on-board community.
They then further added in their statement that in terms of who was on board the ship, quote, The crew sailed with 95% of the onboard community fully vaccinated.
If you'd like to read more about these two cruise ships or about the U.S. Navy warship which experienced a COVID outbreak over in Guantanamo Bay, I will throw the links to all that into the description box below this video for you to check out.
And all I ask in return is that you take a super quick second to smash, smash, smash that like button for the YouTube algorithm.
And now, before we move on over and discuss how the University of California, in a rather ironic move, fired the director of their medical ethics program because he defied the COVID vaccine mandate, I would like to take a super quick moment and introduce our sponsor for today's episode, which I'll do from the sound booth.
That's right, Roman.
The sponsor of today's episode is an awesome company called American Hartford Gold.
As I'm sure you're aware, the rate of inflation right now in this country is accelerating like crazy.
I mean, everything from the cost of lumber, cars, houses, food, gas, everything is increasing at an accelerated pace.
However, in my opinion, what the most amazing aspect of the system is, is that you can take this money, which I actually think is as fake as monopoly money because the Fed and the Just print this out of nothing, and you can use it to buy real money from American Hartford Gold, which is gold and silver coinage.
Take a look.
This is a box that I get every single month from American Hartford Gold sent to me because I believe it's a great hedge against inflation.
This is something that has had value for 5,000 years.
It's had value across the world in Russia, China, America, India.
I mean, this is the real stuff right here.
This is a beautiful, actually, Canadian maple.
And this right here is some silver coinage.
I don't know if you can see how shiny and beautiful it is.
Yeah, but I just get these every single month because I believe that, unfortunately, the US dollar will eventually fall as the global reserve currency, as sad as that is.
And I just want to hedge against those people in Washington, D.C., continuously printing our prosperity into oblivion.
I would highly recommend that you do the same.
Go on over to the website for American Heart for Gold and consider doing business with them.
They're an awesome company.
They sponsor a program like ours, so they obviously care about the truth getting out there, but they also have an A-plus rating with the Better Business Bureau.
They have a great customer support staff when you call them.
They're super friendly, and they make the entire process super simple because not only can you get...
These packages here deliver directly to your doorstep, but you can call them up and set it up so that you can actually get gold and silver directly deposited into your IRA account, again, making it all super simple.
And right now they're offering a special to viewers of Facts Matter, where depending on how much you buy, how much gold and silver you buy, they will throw in $1,500 worth of free silver on your first order.
So give them a call at 866-242-2352 or text Roman to 65532.
Also, I'll throw a link to their website down in the description box below.
And American Heart for Gold, thank you so much for sponsoring this episode.
Now Roman in the studio, back to you.
And now, let's move on over to California.
Last week, in what can only be described as an ironic development, the University of California fired the director of their ethics program because he defied the COVID vaccine mandate.
Now, the professor in question here is named Dr.
Aaron Kiriati, and he has, for a very long time now, been a professor of psychiatry over at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine, and he has also been a longtime director of the school's medical ethics program.
And if he looks somewhat familiar to you, that's likely because back in August, he made some headlines when he filed a lawsuit against the University of California over their vaccine mandates, specifically because they did not offer any exemptions for people with natural immunity.
And according to a blog post that he published just last week, this director of medical ethics, he was fired from the school.
Here's specifically what he wrote.
In August, I challenged the UC vaccine mandate in federal court.
Yesterday, the university fired me for refusing the vaccine.
Then further down in this blog post, he actually goes into his story regarding the pandemic, such as how during the beginning stage of the pandemic, he would work overtime for free in order to help the school in a myriad of ways.
Here's what he wrote, quote, He then went on to describe a certain episode that happened at the school in regards to masks.
Here's what he wrote, quote, This was before masks became all the rage after the CDC suggested, with little evidence, that they might help.
At that early stage, the truth was we didn't know whether masks worked or not, and nurses were doing the best they could under a pressure in a situation of uncertainty.
The administrators yelled and ridiculed them, not wanting to admit the real issue was that we simply did not have enough masks.
So I called local construction companies and sourced 600 N95s from them.
I supplied them to some of the residents in our department and my attending colleagues in the ER, then donated the rest to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the university administrators, the same ones who fired me yesterday, were working safely from home and did not have to fret about PPE shortages.
He then went through a few other vignettes that happened during the pandemic.
However, he said that no matter how much effort he expended during the height of the pandemic or how much he contributed, it all didn't matter the moment he challenged the schools in regard to their vaccine mandate.
Because once he did, in the blink of an eye, he became a threat.
Here's what he wrote, quote, Once I challenged one of their policies, I immediately became a threat to the health and safety of the community.
No amount of empirical evidence about natural immunity or vaccine safety and efficacy mattered at all.
The university's leadership was not interested in scientific debate or ethical deliberation.
Furthermore, he goes on to say that in an effort to make him quit voluntarily, well, here is what he wrote happened.
Quote, In an effort to pressure me to resign, they wanted to restrict my ability to earn an income not only at the university, but outside the university as well.
It was dizzying and at times surreal.
And then eventually, the university decided to fire him altogether.
Now we're here at the Epoch Times.
We did reach out to the university president's office for comment on this case, but they replied to us only saying that, quote, UCI does not comment on personnel issues.
Regardless, Dr.
Kiriati's lawsuit is still making its way through federal court.
In that particular lawsuit, he's arguing that the university's vaccine mandate, it violates the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
And so we will have to wait and see how that case actually plays itself out in the courtroom.
Otherwise, if you'd like to hear this professor speak about his point of view for yourself, then I would highly recommend that you go on over to Epic TV and check out the two episodes of American Thought Leaders where Jan sat down with this professor and they discussed the ethics behind this type of medical coercion.
Here's a trailer for one of those episodes.
Objecting a child to something that's not going to help them.
Why would we do that?
In part two of my interview with Dr.
Aaron Cariotti, a medical ethics professor at UC Irvine, we discussed the ethics of testing COVID-19 vaccines on children and perverse incentives in the vaccine rollout.
Pharmaceutical companies several years ago convinced the federal government that they shouldn't be liable for any vaccine-related injuries that their products cause.
And the rise of what he calls biosecurity surveillance.
The common feature of all totalitarianisms was a social climate in which people were forbidden from asking certain questions.
If you'd like to check out that full episode, as well as all the other phenomenal content over on Epic TV, I'll throw a link to it.
It'll be in the description box below this video.
