| Good evening, and boy do we have a lot of stories to discuss today. | |
| First of all, over in Colorado, a 56-year-old woman who is experiencing stage 5 kidney failure, she was told by the hospital that she's been kicked off of the transplant list because she is not vaccinated. | |
| And that is despite the fact that she had already found an organ donor and that she had a religious objection. | |
| Meanwhile, just yesterday, nearly 200,000 at-home COVID tests were recalled by the FDA Positives. | |
| And then lastly, according to new data that was compiled by a cybersecurity firm several months before the Chinese Communist Party officially reported any cases of COVID, the sales of PCR tests, which detect for specific viruses, they skyrocketed in the city of Wuhan by as much as 50%. | |
| Meaning that before the Chinese Communist Party admitted that COVID was spreading, the city of Wuhan was testing for viruses like crazy. | |
| Let's go through it all together. | |
| This is your daily Facts Matter update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times. | |
| And now let's begin today's discussion over in Colorado, where a hospital has gotten creative in how they're pushing people to get vaccinated. | |
| Specifically, UC Health, which is the University of Colorado Hospital, they told a woman who is in a desperate need of a kidney transplant that unless she gets vaccinated, she won't get her kidney. | |
| Let me just repeat that. | |
| A 56-year-old woman, Ms. Leilani Lutali, she's suffering from stage 5 renal failure, and she was refused transplantation because both herself as well as her friend, who is willing to give her a kidney, they're both unvaccinated. | |
| Here's specifically what the hospital said to this woman in a letter. | |
| The transplant team at University of Colorado Hospital has determined that it is necessary to place you inactive on the waiting list. | |
| You will have 30 days to begin the vaccination series. | |
| If your decision is to refuse COVID vaccination, you will be removed from the kidney transplant list. | |
| You will continue to accrue waiting time, but you will not receive a kidney offer while listed inactive. | |
| Once you complete the COVID vaccination series, you will be reactivated on the kidney transplant list pending any other changes in your health condition. | |
| Now, to start with, in terms of why this woman is not getting the vaccine, well, she says that she has both a religious objection to the vaccine, and secondly, she is concerned that the vaccine will not be effective after she receives the immunosuppressant drugs post-surgery. | |
| Here's what she told a local news outlet. | |
| Both from a religious standpoint and from doing some reading, I'm not certain that this is the right way to go. | |
| The shot's relatively new and as a consumer, I'm not an early adopter. | |
| I wait and see what's going on. | |
| I feel like I'm being coerced into not being able to wait and see and that I have to take the shot if I want this life-saving transplant. | |
| And as I mentioned just a moment ago, to add insult to injury, this came after she had already found a living donor who was willing to give her a kidney. | |
| However, since that donor was also unvaccinated, well, here's what she said. | |
| When I explained that no, I wouldn't be able to take the COVID shot, then the comment was, well, your journey ends here, because we require all of our donors and recipients to have the COVID-19 vaccine. | |
| I'm a strong no on the vaccine for sure. | |
| We're talking about compromising my morals for her right to have a surgery. | |
| Now you might be asking yourself, why exactly is the hospital doing this? | |
| Why are they mandating that the recipient and the donor be vaccinated? | |
| Well, they released a statement on the matter saying that people who undergo transplant surgeries, they are at much greater risk for COVID after they go through the procedures. | |
| Here's specifically what they said. | |
| Patients who have received a transplanted organ are at significant risk from COVID-19. | |
| Should they become infected, they are at particularly high risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death. | |
| Studies have found that transplant patients who contract COVID-19 may have a mortality rate of 20% or higher. | |
| A living donor could pass COVID-19 infection on to an organ recipient, even if they initially test negative for the disease, putting the patient's life at risk. | |
| And so, ironically, instead of allowing this woman to take a risk and have this life-saving surgery, the hospital has decided that she can just die from kidney failure. | |
| And in theory, you might be able to rationalize the hospital's decision by saying that, hey, if this woman takes an organ and then dies from COVID shortly afterwards, well, then that organ could have gone to somebody else and saved their life instead. | |
| However, that is not the case here, because the organ donor in this situation is the woman's friend, and so she's not really taking the kidney from somebody else on the transplant list who might have needed it. | |
| Here's in fact how the organ donor herself, here's how she described the situation. | |
| She further stated that both herself as well as her friend... | |
| They are okay with taking the risk with COVID since Ms. | |
| Lottali is heading towards total kidney failure anyway. | |
| However, they appear to be unwilling to compromise on their morals since both of these women have religious objections to the vaccine. | |

| It's your choice on what treatment you have. | |
| In Leilani's case, the choice has been taken from her. | |
| Her life has now been held hostage because of this mandate. | |

| And now let's move on over and discuss at-home COVID tests. | |
| Two days ago, the FDA authorized a new over-the-counter COVID test that you can use at home by yourself. | |
| According to a statement that they released, meaning the FDA released as a part of this announcement, They said that they expect to double rapid at-home testing capacity in the U.S. over the next several weeks. | |
| Now this specific authorization was given to a company called Akon Laboratories. | |
| And the way that their test works is that you take a nasal swab, wait 15 minutes, and then you get your results. | |
| And by the way, just to clarify, Akon Laboratories is not the only manufacturer of these types of tests. | |
| They're just the latest company that got emergency use authorization. | |
| Now, besides being super convenient, I mean, you can get test results in up to 15 minutes, these tests also have the potential to pump up America's COVID numbers. | |
| That's because a different manufacturer of these at-home COVID tests, they recently issued a recall on nearly 200,000 of their tests after it was discovered that they were producing false positives. | |
| Now, to give you a bit of background on this case, this company is actually an Australian It's a company called Eloom. | |
| And back in December, they were given emergency use authorization to sell these types of at-home COVID tests here in the U.S. And then afterwards, the Biden administration, they signed a $231 million deal with this company in order for them to produce over 633,000 test kits per day. | |
| And according to a spokesperson for Ellum, out of the 3.5 million test kits that they have sent over to the U.S. thus far, almost 200,000 of them have the problem of producing false positives. | |
| And furthermore, according to a report from the New York Times, some of these false positive tests were actually provided to the U.S. Department of Defense. | |
| Now, in announcing this recall, here is what the FDA said as a part of their statement. | |
| For these tests, a false positive is a test result that indicates that a person has the virus when they do not actually have it. | |
| Negative test results do not appear to be affected by the manufacturing issue. | |
| We are alerting test users, caregivers, healthcare personnel, and the public of the potential for false positive results with certain lots of the Illum COVID-19 home test due to a recently identified manufacturing issue. | |
| In that same statement, by the way, the FDA said that they are assessing the situation alongside with the manufacturer and are looking to get the issue resolved ASAP. In the meantime, they are urging people who might have any of these Illum test kits at home to double-check the serial number on the back of their boxes against the serial numbers that are over on the Illum website, or else they run into the risk of having the test say that they have COVID when they actually do not. | |

| And now, let's move on over and talk a bit about the Chinese Communist Party's cover-up of the virus. | |
| And to start with, if you ever want to see a good joke, just go on over to any website that tracks the numbers of COVID deaths across different countries in this world. | |
| And as you can see, you have America, you have Brazil, you have Israel, India, and going down the list, you head towards the very bottom and you get to China, which amazingly, to this very day, has had only 4,600 official COVID deaths. | |
| That's, by the way, the exact same number that they had this time last year. | |
| That's quite amazing. | |
| I wonder what their secret is. | |
| What? | |
| Oh, yeah, that's right. | |
| Their secret is lying. | |
| They are a country that's run by a communist dictatorship, and lying is nothing new. | |
| Now, on several previous episodes, we've already discussed how at the very beginning of the global pandemic, the Chinese Communist Party, they covered up what was happening in Wuhan, they punished whistleblowers, they destroyed evidence, they locked down domestic flights while allowing international flights to continue, and therefore they essentially allowed the virus to spread to the rest of the world. | |
| And frankly, there's a ton of evidence to support this. | |
| In fact, we recently put together a fairly detailed infographic on this subject. | |
| However, just yesterday, a new piece of the puzzle was uncovered. | |
| According to research by a cybersecurity firm called Internet 2.0, Let me just repeat that. | |
| Several months before the Chinese Communist Party officially reported that cases of COVID-19 were coming up in Wuhan, the sales of PCR tests, which detect specific viruses, they skyrocketed. | |
| Specifically, the cybersecurity firm, they were tracking sales of these PCR tests over the course of several years, and they found that there was an almost 50% increase between 2018 and 2019, which of course 2019 is the year before the COVID pandemic. | |
| And so according to their data, in the province of Hubei in China, that's Hubei is the province where Wuhan is located, in 2016, sales of PCR tests totaled about 19.1 million yuan. | |
| The next year, it rose to 29.1 million yuan. | |
| In 2018, it rose again to 36.7 million yuan. | |
| But then the next year, which is 2019, it nearly doubled, all the way to 67.4 million yuan. | |
| They were able to find this data, by the way, by looking at over 1,700 procurement contracts that they were able to obtain from that particular province, from Hubei province. | |
| Now, in regards to these findings, here is what the researchers wrote as a part of the conclusion for this report. | |
| Quote, these findings challenge existing assumptions around when the pandemic began and support further investigation. | |
| The study concludes that a significant increase in spending in PCR equipment correlates to the spread of COVID-19. | |
| We assess with medium confidence the significant increase from 2018 to 2019 in Hubei province is due to an event like the emergence of COVID-19. | |
| Finally, we assess with high confidence that the pandemic began much earlier than China informed the WHO about COVID-19. | |
| Now, it's worth noting that an increase in the purchase of these types of tests doesn't necessarily mean that a disease outbreak had occurred. | |
| I mean, these tests are used for other things like genetic as well as biotech research as well. | |
| And so maybe there was just an acceleration of some different line of research that was happening over in Wuhan that we just don't know about. | |
| However, this is a very valuable data point that can help to fill out the mosaic surrounding what was truly happening in Wuhan prior to the start of the pandemic. | |
