Time Text
The United States and China had their first high-level conversation last Friday since President Joe Biden took office.
However, China's coverage of the conversation is very different from the rest of the world, ignoring all the key issues conveyed by the US State Department.
On February 5th, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and top Chinese diplomat Yang Jiechi spoke over the phone for the first time to discuss bilateral relations.
The statement from the US State Department revealed that Blinken touched upon several issues that the Chinese Communist regime considers to have crossed the red line.
Blinken stressed that the United States will continue to stand up for human rights and democratic values, including in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Hong Kong, and press China to join the international community in condemning the military coup in Burma.
However, China's media coverage of the conversation completely left out all of these key issues.
Blinken also emphasized that the United States will work with its allies to hold China accountable for its efforts to threaten stability in the Indo-Pacific, including across the Taiwan Strait and its undermining of the rules-based international system.
The Chinese regime's mouthpiece, Xinhua News Agency, mentioned none of the above.
And quoted only one statement from Blinken's words, which was the US-China relations are very important to both countries and the world.
In comparison, the Xinhua article dedicated five full paragraphs to Yang Jiechi's comments during the bilateral conversation.
The CCP's goal is to cover up the truth and facts so that it can continue to brainwash the Chinese people.
It has been carrying out such indoctrination and brainwashing all along.
From the CCP's perspective, if the conversation is reported normally, readers will know that the United States has a tough attitude towards the CCP. It will also reveal that the CCP is provoking troubles in the Indo-Pacific region, including the looming crisis across the Taiwan Strait.
So it definitely will not report on these topics.
Xin Tianxing, a US-based current affairs commentator, pointed out that the CCP's disruption of international order led to the Trump administration's sanctions and counteractions.
However, the CCP's deceptive propaganda claims that the worsening US-China relationship was caused by the Trump administration.
Now that Joe Biden has become the new president, Beijing is hoping that the relations between the two countries will go back to where they were four years ago, Xing said.
On February 4th, in his first foreign policy speech, President Biden called China the most serious competitor, in contrast to Trump's designation of the CCP as a totalitarian enemy.
Many expressed concerns that the US government may resume the old path of an appeasement policy with the CCP, which would allow the CCP to become more powerful and pose more danger to the world.
The series of executive orders that Biden signed after he took office overturned Trump's policies.
In other words, Biden's plan is to reverse the direction and go back to the past.
When the CCP observes this trend, it will have its own interpretation of Blinken's words.
In the eyes of the CCP, Blinken's words were just a Analysts noted that Yang Jiechi's words were even tougher than Beijing's previous statements on US-China relations.
It seems that the CCP is attempting to draw a red line for the Biden administration beforehand.
If the Biden administration follows the current direction, the future is not optimistic.
Because it's just like what Mike Pompeo has said, the appeasement policy in the past have proved to be a failure.
If you resume the old path, you will also fail, and you will end up helping the CCP become even stronger.
Current Affairs commentator Xin Tianxing said she felt fortunate that President Trump formulated many policies to combat the CCP's aggression during his term.
Even if the Biden administration attempts to reverse the direction, Trump's strong policies will help the United States win a certain amount of time.
During this period of time, anything can happen.
For example, Biden's approach may be met with strong domestic criticism, and the pandemic may bring about very big surprises, not allowing him to have the chance to effectuate his new China policies.
Presently, with regard to how to evaluate the CCP, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have reached a high degree of consensus.
At least for now, it's unlikely that the Biden administration will make big concessions to the CCP. On January 25th, Chinese leader Xi Jinping warned against a new Cold War and confrontation as an indirect message to Biden.
Then on February 2nd, Yang Jiechi sent a clear message in his statement, calling on the Biden administration to repair the damage caused by the misguided policies of former President Donald Trump.
He also threatened that Hong Kong, Tibet and Xinjiang affairs were a red line that must not be crossed.
