Epoch Times - Debunking Biden’s Claim of Civil Rights Movement Involvement | Larry Elder Show Aired: 2021-01-14 Duration: 09:53 === Organizing Sunday Protests (05:55) === [00:00:03] Who knew that Joe Biden in the 60s participated in protests against segregation? [00:00:10] I got my education, Reverend Doc, in the black church. [00:00:14] Not a joke. [00:00:15] Because when we used to get organized on Sundays to go out and desegregate movie theaters and things like that, we'd do it through the black church. [00:00:23] Say what? [00:00:24] We used to get organized on Sundays to go out and desegregate movie theaters and things like that. [00:00:30] We used to get organized on Sundays and desegregate movie theaters and things like that, end of quote. [00:00:37] Really? [00:00:39] You're... sure? [00:00:46] When I marched in the civil rights movement, I did not march with a 12-point program. [00:00:53] I marched with tens of thousands of others. [00:00:55] Now in 1983 At the New Jersey Democratic Convention, Joe Biden said this. [00:01:00] When I was 17, I participated in sit-ins to desegregate restaurants and movie houses. [00:01:07] My stomach turned upon hearing the voices of Falvis and Wallace, Biden continued, referring to the segregationist governors of Arkansas and Alabama, respectively. [00:01:18] My soul raged on seeing Bull Connor and his dogs. [00:01:22] End of quote. [00:01:24] You can never whip these birds if you don't keep you and them separate. [00:01:29] I found that out in Birmingham. [00:01:31] You've got to keep the white and the black separate. [00:01:34] February 1987 at the California Credit Convention. [00:01:39] When I was 17 years old, like many of you, I participated in sit-ins to desegregate the restaurants and movie houses of Wilmington, Delaware. [00:01:48] Don't tell that to the New York Times. [00:01:52] And the New York Times reports, quote, more than once, advisors had gently reminded Mr. [00:01:56] Biden of the problem with this formulation. [00:01:58] He had not actually marched during the civil rights movement. [00:02:01] And more than once, Mr. [00:02:02] Biden assured them that he understood and kept telling the story anyway. [00:02:07] And don't tell the center of left publication The Atlantic. [00:02:11] Here's what they wrote. [00:02:12] By September 1987, his campaign press secretary clarified to the New York Times that Biden did participate in action to desegregate one restaurant and one movie theater. [00:02:25] Or, as Biden once explained at a 1987 news conference, he had been concerned about civil rights as a teenager, but he was not out marching. [00:02:35] End of quote. [00:02:36] Okay, so Joe scaled it down to protesting one theater and one restaurant. [00:02:43] And so I got involved in desegregating... [00:02:45] I was no big shakes, Reverend in the Civil Rights Movement. [00:02:47] I was just a kid. [00:02:49] I got involved in desegregating movie theaters and helping... [00:02:53] You may remember Reverend Moyer in Delaware and Herman Holloway, organized voter registration drives, coming out of black churches on Sundays figuring how we were going to move. [00:03:05] But is there even evidence of this more scaled-down claim? [00:03:08] Not according to the Washington Examiner. [00:03:11] Here's what they said. [00:03:12] The problem is, there is no evidence that Biden had any involvement in the civil rights movement in the 1960s beyond being a spectator as he went to college, became a lawyer, ran for office, being elected to Newcastle County Council in Delaware, the beginning of 46 uninterrupted years in public office." But, but, but, what about the protests against a movie theater and a restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware? [00:03:39] Back to the Washington Examiner. [00:03:41] The Baltimore Sun interviewed Biden in 1986 and reported, As a young man, he took part in sit-ins to desegregate restaurants along U.S. 40 in Delaware. [00:03:53] A Morning News article in September 1975 said that Biden joined in sit-ins to desegregate restaurants along U.S. 40 before he joined the Senate. [00:04:04] End of quote. [00:04:06] But plot twist! [00:04:08] Civil rights activists in Wilmington and the University of Delaware, while Biden was a student, said they don't recall him participating in any demonstrations. [00:04:18] A historian who wrote a book about the Route 40 project, referring to the action to desegregate restaurants along that route, and the Freedom Riders movement, said he was unaware of Biden's involvement. [00:04:32] One of the group's leaders at the University of Delaware, where Biden was a student, Dwayne Nichols, a graduate student at the time, told the Washington Examiner that he compiled the list of segregated restaurants that CORE targeted along Route 40. [00:04:47] He does not recall Biden participating in protest activities." End of quote. [00:04:54] I remember when I was in Burma during the war. [00:04:57] I was captured by the enemy and gave only my name, rank, and serial number in spite of being subjected to the most fiendish torture ever devised by man. [00:05:05] The water torture. [00:05:07] A drop of water on the forehead every minute for 300 gallons. [00:05:11] 300 gallons, Mr. [00:05:13] Brown, would you believe it? [00:05:13] That's pretty hard to believe. [00:05:15] Would you believe a quart? [00:05:21] What if they came by once a day with a glass of water and an eyedropper? [00:05:29] Is Joe losing it? [00:05:30] And by the way, you know, I sit on the stand and it get hot. [00:05:34] I got a lot of, I got hairy legs that turn, that, that, that, that, that, that turn blonde in the sun. === Comparing Notes with Biden (03:38) === [00:05:43] And the kids used to come up and reach in the pool and rub my leg down so it was straight and then watch the hair come back up again. [00:05:52] They'd look at it. [00:05:53] So I learned about roaches. [00:05:54] I learned about kids jumping on my lap. [00:05:56] And I've loved kids jumping on my lap. [00:06:02] And the way Biden teed off on the Iowa voter who dared ask him about Hunter Biden, Joe Biden was not amused. [00:06:09] We all know Trump has been messing around in the Ukraine over there, holding their foreign aid for them to come up, saying they're going to investigate you. [00:06:24] We know all about that. [00:06:27] And he's a no-backer, and we go after that. [00:06:31] But you, on the other hand, fetch your son over there to get a job and work for a gas company, but he had no experience with gas or nothing, in order to get access to the public, for the president. [00:06:48] So you're selling access to the president just like he does. [00:06:53] You're a damn liar, man. [00:06:54] That's not true. [00:06:55] And no one has ever said that? [00:06:57] No one has heard that? [00:06:58] You see it on the TV? No, I know you do. [00:07:02] And by the way, that's why I'm not sedentary. [00:07:04] I get up and... [00:07:06] No, let him go. [00:07:09] Let him go. [00:07:09] Look, the reason I'm running is because I've been around a long time and I know more than most people now. [00:07:14] And I can get things done. [00:07:15] That's why I'm running. [00:07:16] And you want to check my shape, man. [00:07:18] Let's do push-ups together, man. [00:07:20] Let's run. [00:07:20] Come on, let's do whatever you want to do. [00:07:22] Let's take a nice detail. [00:07:24] I want to switch gears and ask you about what happened the other day at your town hall, because you got a lot of attention for it. [00:07:35] A man stood up and started throwing false allegations your way about your son Hunter Biden and his work in Ukraine and your work as vice president then in Ukraine. [00:07:46] And you responded by calling him a damn liar, and then you challenged him to push-ups, and then you asked him for an IQ test? [00:07:55] No, he came along, and he always said, he said he's entitled to do this. [00:07:59] He said, you're too old. [00:08:01] He said, you're too old. [00:08:02] I can't vote for somebody as old as you. [00:08:04] I said, okay. [00:08:05] And he was challenging what kind of shape. [00:08:07] So I kidded. [00:08:07] I said, you want to do a push-up contest? [00:08:09] I was joking. [00:08:11] Look, I'm in pretty good shape. [00:08:12] Which is what Donald Trump says a lot. [00:08:13] Hey, you can't take a joke? [00:08:15] I was joking. [00:08:15] No, no, no, no, no. [00:08:17] Don't compare me to Donald Trump. [00:08:19] Don't do that. [00:08:20] Yes, they did. [00:08:22] They said to me, the woman you met at the end, 94-year-old Mary, said to me, I was so disappointed in him. [00:08:29] This is a direct quote. [00:08:31] That is not the Joe I know. [00:08:32] He sounded like Donald Trump in that clip. [00:08:34] Well, look, what Donald Trump says, he makes fun of people. [00:08:37] He belittles people. [00:08:39] He lies. [00:08:40] I don't do any of those things. [00:08:43] Period. [00:08:44] Hey, do you ever notice where Biden keeps saying he's in the wrong state? [00:08:47] Like if he's in Ohio, it's great to be in Iowa tonight. [00:08:52] If he's in Pennsylvania, it's wonderful to be in the state of Delaware. [00:08:56] What is wrong with this guy? [00:08:59] And we're going to need subtitles to figure out what the devil Joe Biden was talking about in this speech to the Teamsters. [00:09:05] See if you can follow this. === Management Pay Equity (00:46) === [00:09:07] And the third thing is, last year alone, $1.2 billion in overtime was denied by our hourly workers who were not unionized. [00:09:16] $1.2 billion. [00:09:17] So you go ahead and you stack spaghetti sauce at a store in a supermarket. [00:09:22] You control the guy or the woman who runs out the carts on a forklift. [00:09:29] What happens? [00:09:30] They make you management. [00:09:32] You can't get paid overtime. [00:09:35] And you see it happening with labor as well. [00:09:36] So the bottom line is, I'm for you because America needs you to grow. [00:09:43] Now, who can argue with that? [00:09:49] I'm Larry Elder, and this has been the Larry Elder Show for Epic Times.
