Slightly Offensive - Elijah Schaffer - Portland Sucks | Part 1 Aired: 2019-08-20 Duration: 13:51 === Slightly Offensive Protest (12:44) === [00:00:09] Welcome back to Slightly Offensive with your favorite gay black woman, Mia Elijah Schaefer. [00:00:13] What's up, man? [00:00:14] We are here live at the Portland protest here in Portland, Oregon at the Waterfront Park, covering what seems to be a clash or potential clash between right-wing and left-wing groups. [00:00:24] Today, what we're seeing is something incredible. [00:00:26] The police have cardoned off the entire section and have kept everyone apart. [00:00:31] We come to bang it out. [00:00:33] To you proud boy motherfuckers, yeah. [00:00:37] I'm ready whenever y'all are. [00:00:39] You hear me? [00:00:40] Die for fucking nothing. [00:00:42] We do this for real. [00:00:45] At the core level, I'm here in honor of people who are suffering and who have suffered and who have died in these intensified times under Trump. [00:01:15] I'm here because white supremacy is not my particular tack, and I think there should be shown that there is an opposing view. [00:01:24] 20 far-right people shacked up in a hotel downtown and almost immediately we started getting reports of pretty intense harassment of black people. [00:01:32] I was born in Mississippi in the 60s. [00:01:33] I've seen all this hate. [00:01:34] I've known about Donald Trump for years. [00:01:37] It's big, you know. [00:01:39] People, you know, if you're black, you understand. [00:01:42] I was treated as an animal as a child. [00:01:44] I grew up, great job, good life. [00:01:48] Next thing I know, Trump become president, all hills breaks loose. [00:01:52] Yeah, it's pretty common for Latino people, Native American people, black people, LGBTQ people to get harassed. [00:02:00] And the group that's coming here to do this event, they are, in general, not equality-oriented people. [00:02:08] I have been never called the N-word as many times as this has been happening since he took office. [00:02:13] People here are scared because they know, oh, there might be like several hundred rather rabid racists in town. [00:02:22] When after the Charlottesville thing, when Donald Trump said like that there were good people on both sides, but not the white supremacists, not those people. [00:02:30] You call yourself good when you hate. [00:02:33] I'm saying, what is it in your terms that makes him is he either is he racist or is he emboldening racist? [00:02:39] He's on National TV himself and said, I am a white nationalist. [00:02:42] He didn't say a white part, but he said he's a nationalist. [00:02:45] Do you feel like there's a difference between nationalism and white nationalism? [00:02:49] Wouldn't rent apartments to black people back when I was young. [00:02:54] You know, and he's always, could you move that back a little bit there off me? [00:02:58] So obviously you have more like serious signs of people saying white supremacy is terrorism than you have people just taking a lighthearted approach, which is actually rather funny, but the implications of it are obviously there. [00:03:08] It says white flower. [00:03:09] They're promoting a message of tolerance for baking and promoting good cooked goods, wife power. [00:03:18] What inspired this? [00:03:19] Why did you decide to come with this approach rather than let's say a more, I would say, I don't know, like a darker approach, yeah? [00:03:25] The reason black people in the early days of Mississippi weren't given birth certificates, dude, is because the police and the doctors were selling their body parts to all the rich people across this country. [00:03:37] People are really passionate about flour here. [00:03:39] That was genocide going on and nobody cared and it's not in the history books, but I know it happened. [00:03:45] So we're passing out white and white supremacy posters at the moment. [00:03:49] It says white supremacy is terrorism. [00:03:50] Do you feel like white supremacy is the greatest threat to our country right now, like the signs are saying? [00:03:54] No, not at all. [00:03:56] No, there's like 20 people. [00:03:58] And that's about it. [00:03:59] No, it's not the biggest threat to the country. [00:04:01] Well, I did have thoughts of fear last night and this morning before I came, but I felt it was more important to show up in good humor and in a joyful way than it was to give in to the fear of the other. [00:04:12] I like the lighthearted approach. [00:04:13] I wish we could get back to the hippie days when protests were like people like sit. [00:04:17] I like this. [00:04:18] They're singing music. [00:04:19] It's a good type, good vibe. [00:04:20] I got sifted. [00:04:21] It's the white flower. [00:04:23] Of course, we do have militant factions. [00:04:26] We must and cannot tolerate the spirit of hate breathe through the loins of racist communities that house the likes of folks like the Brown boys and Ku Kuk's Klan and many other white nationalist groups that have laid dormant for 60 years and there has been a reinsurgence without apology on America's front lines everywhere. [00:04:53] All right guys, we have the DSA coming in right now on a full-fledged march. [00:05:01] I just want you to get a look at how big this is right here. [00:05:04] Check this out. [00:05:05] It is an array of everyone from bananas to Zeldas to people wearing bicycle helmets or red hats and masks and everything. [00:05:13] It's got everything. [00:05:14] This protest just doubled in size or tripled in size in just a few seconds, which is absolutely incredible. [00:05:21] Apparently we have many more people coming. [00:05:23] So let's see what happens. [00:05:25] Let's hope this sh** doesn't hit the fan like it always does at these things, man. [00:05:30] We got a slippery situation here, ladies and gentlemen. [00:05:46] The banana people are here. [00:05:47] Break it down. [00:05:48] Come on. [00:05:52] I love it. [00:05:53] Oh, what is this? [00:05:55] This sh is bananas. [00:05:57] B-A-N-A-N-A-S. [00:06:00] This is bananas. [00:06:02] B-A-N-A-N-A-S. [00:06:04] Love it. [00:06:06] Go home, bash it. [00:06:09] Go home, fashion. [00:06:11] So behind me is a gathering group of Antifa who are coming together. [00:06:14] It's absolute mayhem at the moment. [00:06:18] That means you're on the wrong side. [00:06:20] Nah, they just on the wrong side. [00:06:21] They got people. [00:06:23] Nah, man, this is my side, bro. [00:06:25] Okay. [00:06:26] Thank you for your service, Lord Men. [00:06:28] Hallelujah. [00:06:32] All right, so right here, we basically have the police blockade. [00:06:36] Wheeler's boys are coming. [00:06:37] I don't know what that means, but we do have a police blockade here right now. [00:06:42] They have obviously riot protective gear and they also have riot prevention gear or intervention gear, depending on who you ask. [00:06:48] But we do have the group of right-wingers here gathering on the grass and all the streets have been closed and sidewalks over there, but the energy is heightening. [00:06:57] Welcome to stage three of the protests. [00:07:03] It's like we have to go into the action and it's like every normal body, like cell in your body says, that's not where you should go. [00:07:10] But because we're slightly offensive, we're going. [00:07:13] Let's get in there. [00:07:15] Hey kids, we've got some bubbles. [00:07:25] Yeah, we're looking for trouble. [00:07:27] Yeah, we've got some milk. [00:07:28] We got some water with the soap. [00:07:30] Oh, shit. [00:07:31] Sorry, I shouldn't have cursed there, but that was just really kind of scary. [00:07:35] I remember at the DSA convention, they said not to make a lot of noise, but the DSA is making a lot of noise. [00:07:42] So you tell me, Democratic Socialists of America, are we allowed to make noise or are we not? [00:07:47] Because you're in the job of telling people what they are and are not allowed to do. [00:07:50] But you know what I got to say to you? [00:07:51] I don't care because you're not in charge of this country. [00:07:53] You never will be. [00:07:56] All right, so it looks like they've got a guy that they believe to be a Trump supporter, and they're courting him off. [00:08:01] And it's like, I don't know what's happening, but the dog is arguing with him. [00:08:06] This could turn volatile real quick. [00:08:07] I'm betting on it. [00:08:08] I'm normally the type that doesn't back down, but when I got 20, 30 people coming at me with a history of violence, you know, I mean, if you're supposed to be peace, loving, tolerate diversity, and then you treat somebody like me who's got 30 years as a paramedic and I'm retired, screw fellow Americans. [00:08:29] We don't like them. [00:08:30] Get out of here, white guy. [00:08:32] Yeah, that's how you're going to treat people, and then you call yourself tolerant and loving. [00:08:39] I hate Ernest Bill. [00:08:41] I'm not your ass. [00:08:43] I hate everybody. [00:08:48] So do we? [00:08:50] No, I don't. [00:08:51] Because I'm against this. [00:08:52] No, I'm just like. [00:08:53] Why the f you over here? [00:08:55] I'm just like you, buddy. [00:08:56] I'm right here in the same thing. [00:08:57] It doesn't seem that I can feel your spirit. [00:08:59] No, your spirit is with us. [00:09:02] I'm not against. [00:09:04] Because you don't think that I'm as American, don't you? [00:09:07] No. [00:09:07] You don't think I'm as American. [00:09:09] But my ancestors blood soaks the mother. [00:09:13] So did mine. [00:09:13] And I respect you. [00:09:14] You understand? [00:09:15] I respect you as a human being. [00:09:18] Don't play with me, man. [00:09:20] No, I'm not playing with you. [00:09:21] No, you're spirit. [00:09:22] Don't go. [00:09:23] You need to go. [00:09:24] You need to go. [00:09:25] I don't mean to be rude here, but when they put people in wheelchairs at the front of the march, I saw this as potentially not going well. [00:09:33] We are following the future. [00:09:34] The future has got four wheels and it is beside us. [00:09:38] Just so you know, we're following the future. [00:09:40] we're being led i have nothing against people who are disabled as a lot of people here are disabled but the truth let it begin Let it begin. [00:09:56] They've got a sign and everything! [00:10:00] We don't have a bad reputation, actually. [00:10:18] Propaganda? [00:10:19] No, not us. [00:10:20] We're slightly offensive. [00:10:21] We work, we have a show on a channel, but we're not Blaze. [00:10:24] We're slightly offensive. [00:10:25] Oh, you guys are slightly offensive. [00:10:27] Yes. [00:10:27] Just slightly. [00:10:28] Right here. [00:10:28] Not foolish, just slightly. [00:10:30] Glenn Beck. [00:10:32] I'm not sure you're not Glenn Beck. [00:10:34] Really? [00:10:36] You had me sucked. [00:10:38] All right. [00:10:39] Come on. [00:10:40] Calm down. [00:10:41] Hey, calm down. [00:10:42] Hey, don't assault me. [00:10:44] Calm down, bro. [00:10:46] I'm staying very calm. [00:10:48] I'm very calm. [00:10:51] Look, we have press passes. [00:10:53] We have the right to be here. [00:10:56] Please just stay away. [00:10:57] Hey, hey, stay the f. [00:10:59] Don't roll off that full. [00:11:00] All right. [00:11:01] All right, let's just stick right here. [00:11:07] You haven't even tried to have a discussion at all. [00:11:09] I literally would talk to you about anything, but you just yell at me obscenities, which sucks because I'm a normal person. [00:11:15] It's dehumanizing. [00:11:16] That's exactly what marginalization is: when you dehumanize people and you yell at them because of a label on their t-shirt rather than having a conversation. [00:11:22] That's what we stand against. [00:11:23] There's a lot of reasonable people here. [00:11:24] We've had a discussion. [00:11:26] Just because people are unreasonable, certain people, that doesn't stand for everybody here. [00:11:29] So right now we're getting cordoned off by riot police, but there is a group of people from the right side of the protest over here on my left. [00:11:37] And of course, it looks like we're going to start trying to chase them. [00:11:40] So let's just do it. [00:11:41] Let's follow them. [00:11:48] Oh, this guy got pelted with a shake. [00:12:01] Excuse me, it's all. [00:12:02] Get the f out, Nazi scum! [00:12:04] Get out of here, Nazis! [00:12:06] We don't want you here! [00:12:08] You don't want to fight Nazi here! [00:12:10] Get the f out of here, school! [00:12:13] Alright, this man has just been attacked right here. [00:12:17] Can you explain what happened to you actually? [00:12:19] Oh, it's waving American flag and people started throwing things. [00:12:23] Someone threatened us with base, and then they started throwing jars of mayonnaise. [00:12:27] Is it the white power? [00:12:28] No. [00:12:29] Was it the white power? [00:12:30] Oh, no, it's American patriotism. [00:12:32] American patriotism. [00:12:33] Yeah, I want America to be great again. [00:12:35] For who? [00:12:37] What was it good for my people? === Showing Fascists Hearts (01:13) === [00:12:40] Now. [00:12:41] Now! [00:12:41] There's no better time. [00:12:43] That's still bad. [00:12:44] We're moving. [00:12:47] Get the f ⁇ out, milkshake boy. [00:12:48] Get the f ⁇ out! [00:12:49] Get that again! [00:12:50] Milkshake boy, says the chubby white kid that is acne. [00:12:54] If you just do the wrong thing, you get tackled. [00:12:56] The people that help you out are the cops. [00:12:57] Right, but I'm just saying. [00:12:58] They help me out with water. [00:12:59] Right. [00:13:00] Everybody else was like taunting me, mocking me, asking if I liked the spicy in my eyes, calling me a Nazi. [00:13:07] It was a mob on one guy. [00:13:09] I came up, and the first thing that happened, I was asking why people were wearing the black masks. [00:13:14] And then that's when the mob started, and they have... [00:13:17] Spicy boy. [00:13:19] You like that? [00:13:20] Spicy boy? [00:13:21] This is the tolerant left. [00:13:23] And that's what I was saying to people. [00:13:25] Trying to show who the fascists are and who's got hate in their hearts. [00:13:29] I'm sorry, Leban. [00:13:32] Didn't you take over the park? [00:13:36] This is technically, you're not wrong. [00:13:38] That was funny. [00:13:39] That was funny. [00:13:40] I'm sorry, bro. [00:13:40] Hey. [00:13:41] I'm sorry, dude. [00:13:50] We're always in the front lines.
