So I want to break down today's story by juxtaposing three articles, two from conservative publications, Fox News and Breitbart, and then a third from a very liberal publication called Huff Post.
And I want to do this so that we look at all the sides of the story and what people are saying.
So we start out with this tweet from Senator Ted Cruz, which says right here, it says, to federal law enforcement, investigate and bring legal action against a mayor who has, for political reasons, ordered his police officers to let citizens be attacked by domestic terrorists.
Okay, so unless you've been living under a rock, Senator Ted Cruz is obviously referring to the brutal attack this weekend of conservative Asian journalist Andy No, who was absolutely beaten and harassed and assaulted by Antifa while covering a clash between the left-wing extremists and what Huffington Post calls right-wing extremist Proud Boys,
though I would have to disagree with that, during a him to movement on the steps in the public square, which essentially was just a couple dozen people who fall on the right wing who were essentially, I guess, maybe even trolling the left by playing on the Me Too movement and sort of bringing light to assault and sexual assault on men, which is actually pretty common in prison.
So I want to jump real fast to this article here by Breitbart, which says that the Portland mayor Ted Wheeler is under fire for not stopping Antifa protests.
Now, this is the article that Ted Cruz is actually referencing.
And it says here that Wheeler, who was also police commissioner, said nothing on Saturday as hundreds of Antifa protesters gathered on the streets with some throwing milkshakes, potentially mixed with quick-drying cement and assaulting No.
Okay, so Antifa are basically terrible people.
I mean, I don't think everybody who's a part of Antifa is bad, but if you're mixing quick-drying cement in a milkshake, you're obviously intending harm.
So we can no longer just say that these people are, you know, just trying to protest who they think are fascists or neo-Nazis.
These people are genuinely trying to inflict harm on the people they disagree with.
But it goes on to say that No, who is this journalist who was shaken and bloodied, began live streaming on his phone after his assault and could be heard asking a police officer, where the hell were all of you?
Now, of course, before we go any further, U.S. Ambassador of Germany Rick Grinnell, who's also gay, he tweeted out, where is Mayor Ted Wheeler?
Now, this could look like typical partisan hackery, where it's like, okay, cool.
You just have the Republicans blaming Democrats again for violence when it's not like the Democrats themselves actually assaulted No.
It's obviously this fringe group that runs rampant on the streets of Portland.
But it gets much worse than this because it goes down a step further where other people started tweeting out, this is unacceptable.
I am outraged.
This violence from intolerance must stop.
Portland leaders must be held to account.
Grinnell tweeted again later and along with UFC fighter Ted Kennedy, who called on Wheeler to resign.
And you'll see his tweet right here.
He said, what happened to Mr. Andy No?
It's horrible and inexcusable.
The mayor, Ted Wheeler, should be resigned for what he has done to Portland.
I feel bad for Portland police having their hands tied.
The socialists with Antifa are dangerous and un-American.
Okay, but, you know, it's not just the Antifa were assaulting, you know, conservative journalists, which I understand that there's a lot of clashes and tension right now between the left and the right, even if it doesn't excuse it.
But Jim Ryan, who's another journalist, actually said that the square is closed and that police have been hit with eggs and milkshakes.
So essentially, we are in a absolute crap show of these Antifa people now throwing milkshakes.
And if you guys remember also too, Burger King recently in the UK, after Tommy Robinson and a few other members on the right were assaulted with milkshakes, they were promoting, hey, don't forget, during these elections, we also sell milkshakes, which is why I no longer eat at Burger King and will never eat at Burger King again.
But, you know, maybe this is just Breitbart.
And I don't want to trust this too much.
So I want to go to Fox News and basically as you go down here, it says this weekend's incident is not the first time that Antifa members have gotten violent while Portland police looked on.
In October 2018, videos circulated online purportedly showing some members of the group verbally harassing drivers and passerbys, which you remember, Antifa actually shut down the roads and were hitting cars, yelling at people because the way to unite the country is to yell at people.
But basically, after that incident, No told Fox News, Tucker Carlson Tonight, that the police in Portland seemed to take a hands-off approach to protesters in the city.
At the time, a Portland police spokesman told local news outlet that officers monitored the protest.
However, there was no intervention because police weigh the ability for people to gather to practice their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly.
Okay, so obviously, I am not into police being absolutely fascist.
I don't believe police should take on authoritarian roles and just, you know, break apart a gathering the minute people come together.
But I actually attended a Milo Yiannopoulos rally at Fullerton, and the minute, the minute any type of outrage came, Fullerton police declared it an unlawful assembly and they broke it apart because people started to get hurt.
There was pepper spray, and that's very common for police to come in and break up groups that begin to show violence.
However, in Portland, we're seeing not only is violence becoming the trend, but it's becoming unsafe for political activists on the right to actually express their freedom of speech.
And what's really bizarre is a lot of these right-wing movements in Portland are only like a couple dozen people.
And the reports are that this Him Too rally was actually only a couple dozen.
But when you go to liberal news outlets, what they always do is they make it seem like it's the right wing that's causing issue when the right wing is just protesting.
They're not looking for violence.
They're just on the steps.
And Antifa is the one who comes to confront them.
Like it's not like Antifa has a rally and then the right is coming and protesting the Antifa rally, which is where we get mixed up.
And of course, they name it several injured as Antifa Proud Boys Clash in Downtown Portland.
They say several people were hurt Sunday in violent clashes in downtown Portland, Oregon, between far-right Proud Boys demonstrators and anti-fascist counter-protesters.
So of course, you know, they don't even mention Antifa by name.
They won't do it.
They're saying they're anti-fascist to make them look good.
And then of course, they always start with far-right, extreme right Proud Boys, which the FBI has dropped the investigation.
Just leave it alone.
And they don't begin by talking about actually who was brutally hurt.
They always want to make it look like it was the fault of the right wing.
Now, of course, I've been to some of these rallies and right-wing protesters are not completely innocent in all cases.
Some people are looking for violence.
I've met a few.
But it's more common to see Antifa and they are doing their best to hurt people.
It says skirmishes erupted as some people had taken to the streets to wave rainbow flags commemorating Pride Month while Proud Boys and members of the Him Too movement held aloft banners and signs touting President Donald Trump.
What they are failing to mention is that the right-wing protest was the initial protest, that they were the ones that were there and they were confronted.
They try to make it seem like it's always this innocent group of left-wing people who are just walking around with rainbow flags and then these combative right-wing people come, raise hell, cause problems, and then they get hurt and it's justified.
When in reality, the left-wing continues to attack.
Now, what's even weirder about this is the main, I guess, victim that's getting the most attention was just a journalist.
And while I would say he definitely leans right in his writing, he's also openly gay and pretty honest in his assertions.
And so it says some protesters hurled vegan milkshakes.
Like that matters, right?
Thank you, Huffington Post, for putting details where they don't matter.
While others threw milkshakes with water and quick-drying cement.
According to local police, several demonstrators were also throwing eggs and water bottles.
And they say this so lightly.
Like, it's just like, oh yeah, and quick-drying cement.
Like, like vegan milkshakes without animal or whey protein is equivalent to putting quick-drying cement in your shakes.
These people are terrorists.
