Slightly Offensive - Elijah Schaffer - Outraged Protestors March on Border Patrol Aired: 2019-01-29 Duration: 09:14 === Protest Against the Wall (08:42) === [00:00:04] Trump is just dividing the people bringing us together. [00:00:06] This is America first, but he's putting America last. [00:00:15] What's up, guys? [00:00:16] We're here at a protest in San Yosidro, California against the wall and for the migrant caravan. [00:00:24] Behind me what you see is a variety of signs, stop scapegoating migrants for the crisis of capitalism. [00:00:32] So sort of blaming capitalism already for what's going on. [00:00:35] Let's go ahead and join the march and we'll see what we can do. [00:00:38] We didn't cross the border! [00:00:40] The border crossed us! [00:00:42] We got a nice counter-protest going on right here to my left. [00:00:45] We'll see what happens there. [00:00:46] Oh, we've slowed down. [00:00:48] We slowed down. [00:00:49] We slowed down. [00:00:50] That's a general sign for the movement overall. [00:00:52] It's slowed down. [00:00:53] You're a flag. [00:00:53] What does the flag represent and what are you marching for today? [00:00:56] I'm from Mexico. [00:00:58] Oh, so it's like a communist for the people or? [00:01:01] Yes. [00:01:01] Today, if you had to sum up this protest in one paragraph, what would it be? [00:01:06] Native land. [00:01:08] We ain't no borders on native land. [00:01:10] And so native for the indigenous Mexicans or the indigenous Native Americans? [00:01:15] We're all indigenous. [00:01:16] There was no borders. [00:01:17] There was no Mexico, no America, no that before the white people came here from Europe. [00:01:21] They all talk about this. [00:01:21] Just go back to your country, go back to your country. [00:01:23] Where do we house the people? [00:01:24] Do we absorb them to homes, into camps? [00:01:26] Do we give them vouchers? [00:01:27] Or what do we do once we bring them in? [00:01:28] That I don't have fully worked out, admittedly, but I feel like there are a lot of organizations dedicated to helping with resettlement that could help with that. [00:01:35] This used to be Mexico one time, but more than anything, it belongs to the Native Americans. [00:01:40] Those are the real Americans. [00:01:42] So basically, borders are just things that are created by humans because it's one planet. [00:01:49] There's no such thing as races. [00:01:51] We're one race. [00:01:52] We're the human race. [00:01:53] We're just different flavors, like I like to say. [00:01:56] Oh, I say. [00:01:58] I have a translator here. [00:02:03] So he's saying that they're part of an organization called Eclipse that supports many movements that support communism and socialism. [00:02:12] But if you're going to be supporting racism, you're not welcome here. [00:02:16] And who's particularly deporting racism? [00:02:19] Oh, Trump and all them. [00:02:20] His whole administration, all the people that support Trump. [00:02:23] And is that the best? [00:02:23] Particularly through the wall, or by what means are they doing that? [00:02:26] Oh, just everything. [00:02:27] His whole thing he's doing. [00:02:29] They said they talk about Mexico as a border in the South. [00:02:32] It's all because of the United States that there's that border down there. [00:02:34] They paid for it. [00:02:35] They trained them so that people stop the people from South America from coming up here. [00:02:39] What do we do then to make the reparations possible? [00:02:43] It's very easy, actually. [00:02:44] Instead of funding all these wars and stuff like that, we need to create a Department of Peace at the Pentagon. [00:02:51] Oh, yeah, sorry, sorry. [00:02:52] The point of this is to let them through and absorb them. [00:02:54] Exactly. [00:02:55] And then who foots the bill for the social programs? [00:02:59] Is it tax-based or is it Mexico-based? [00:03:01] Because I know Tijuana is having trouble currently financially and they don't want them in Tijuana. [00:03:05] So who foots the final bill? [00:03:07] I mean, if taxpayers end up footing the final bill compared to all the other things we spend money on that I don't support like drone strikes, I'm okay with helping a few families who are in a desperate situation. [00:03:17] Pelestan Mexico! [00:03:19] Border, Valza, Mexico! [00:03:21] Palesta, Mexico! [00:03:23] Border, Vuel Mexico! [00:03:25] Y tu quieres que el communism puede trabajar a que nosado ni sados unidos pu aplicara que bueno el communismo pose pueda plicar entas partos el mundo, no? [00:03:34] Summary, what's he saying? [00:03:35] Yeah, so just a summary, what he's basically saying is communism cannot only just work in Mexico, it could work in the United States all over the world because there's capitalism all over the world. [00:03:46] Alright, so we're here crossing where the California Border Patrol is located to our left. [00:03:51] As you see, the Border Patrol does have a wall to keep people out. [00:03:55] The metal slats right here are sort of keeping us, the people here, out. [00:04:00] Why are we out here with a counter protest against these people? [00:04:03] Where do you disagree the most? [00:04:06] Well, I'm a software engineer. [00:04:08] If I didn't write structured programs, they wouldn't do work. [00:04:11] If the cells in my body didn't keep apart from each other, my stomach is trying to do the job of the liver is all a mess. [00:04:18] I'd be a puddle of protoplasm. [00:04:20] I wouldn't exist. [00:04:20] I'd cease to exist. [00:04:22] Without structure, without following the law, you cannot achieve your pinnacle success. [00:04:27] We need the law in place. [00:04:29] There need to be safeties and safeguards and a provision for people that have fallen below. [00:04:34] What's the best alternative or the outcome from this protest that you would say? [00:04:38] Well, hopefully people wake up, start seeing their eyes, start seeing how Trump is just dividing the people instead of bringing us together. [00:04:43] He says America first, but he's putting America last. [00:04:46] And what's your biggest concern right now for the future generations then of immigrants that are at the border currently? [00:04:51] Well, hopefully they come over here. [00:04:52] You know, become protected people of society. [00:04:56] Legally or illegally? [00:04:58] No, it's illegal on stolen land. [00:05:00] I grew up believing in distributive justice because I got it from English school books. [00:05:05] They said, oh, let's all be skeptical and let's all be stand back and stand back and like all fall down together basically. [00:05:13] I don't want to all fall down together. [00:05:14] I want to rise up together. [00:05:16] We need structure in place for that to happen. [00:05:18] And the stolen land, we consider like the conquering of it would be considered stealing it. [00:05:22] Oh, it's not conquering when you bring diseases. [00:05:24] And Mexicans, right, are the offshoot of a lot of cross-sexual activity between the Spanish and the indigenous. [00:05:30] So technically they wouldn't be natives either. [00:05:32] So do we give it back to the OX Auckins or who would get the exact rights? [00:05:36] Because that's what I want to know. [00:05:37] There's plenty of tribes. [00:05:39] Like here, the Kumiya got split up by the border. [00:05:41] There's six Kumeya reservations in Baja and 12 over here in America. [00:05:45] 12 in the United States and six in Baja, but they're all Kumiyai. [00:05:50] What tribe were you from originally? [00:05:52] Me, I'm also Loni and Uchalcatari. [00:05:55] So what about the Mexicans that don't have tribal, like the ones that have Spanish descent only, do they go back as well? [00:06:01] Well, if they don't want to be here, support one another, become people of humanity, have morals, have values, and respect one another, then yeah, they should go back too. [00:06:11] And what are the policies and how do we change them? [00:06:13] Just the various warmongering the U.S. has gotten up to in Central America has caused a lot of displacement, as well as inaction on climate change makes it harder for people to make a living in agriculture in those countries. [00:06:24] And U.S. deportation policy actually strengthens the gangs in Central America. [00:06:28] Climate change is partly to blame for the migrant crisis? [00:06:32] Partly, yes. [00:06:33] We are here today solidating with all of you against the racist border patrol and border wall killing our people. [00:06:40] Despite the tear gas, despite whatever fascist attacks that we see from the president, the migrants will be resilient and we will be with them. [00:06:49] So let's not forget no matter what, border patrol, what Trump, what any fascists will throw at us, the migrants, and us will be there to take them down and to fight for our rights. [00:07:01] If there was one policy or thing you could change right now to make this issue better, what would it be? [00:07:05] I would say maybe change the policy of automatic deportation of anyone with a felony conviction because that seems to end up strengthening the gangs in Central America. [00:07:14] Kind of let in more felons, rehabilitate them here? [00:07:17] If they can be rehabilitated here, yes. [00:07:20] As well as if someone's lived here their whole life and they're in a gang but they have other connections here, sending them to a country where their only connection is to a gang, they're going to get a lot more gangstery. [00:07:30] What would the Department of Peace mainly do or its main goals? [00:07:33] to create peace instead of creating war I never heard of it can you repeat the tribe for spelling How do you spell the tribe? [00:07:40] Wichalakatari? [00:07:41] It's a it's a wri Ah, shit. [00:07:46] You gotta be off current. [00:07:49] Ah, shit. [00:07:50] I can't even remember the high school right now. [00:07:53] Kind of how to spell it? [00:07:54] The name for it? [00:07:55] Wichol. [00:07:56] The main tribe. [00:07:57] How do we spell it? [00:07:58] Wichol. [00:07:59] That's another name for it. [00:08:00] It's a H-U-I-C-O-L-E-U. [00:08:04] O-L. [00:08:05] Sorry about that. [00:08:05] Perfect. [00:08:06] Thank you. [00:08:06] I just edited it right to write it down. [00:08:07] Thank you very much, sir. [00:08:28] I've been waiting for a chance, and I think it's finally come. === Miles Above You (00:42) === [00:08:32] Cause I know I don't care what they do, and I don't care what they know. [00:08:42] And I don't care what they say about me now. [00:08:47] Cause no one can touch me now. [00:08:53] I'm just flying by. [00:08:56] Yeah, I'm just flying by away from them. [00:09:02] And no one can see me now. [00:09:08] I'm miles above you. [00:09:10] Don't care what they're seeing below. [00:09:12] Cause I'm miles above.
