Slightly Offensive - Elijah Schaffer - People in "Mexico" Discuss USA Border Aired: 2018-06-01 Duration: 09:17 === Why A Border Wall Is Bad (08:49) === [00:00:00] Alright, what's up? [00:00:00] This is Elijah out here with episode five, collaboration, slightly offensive, with Fleka's talks. [00:00:06] And we're out here in Ensenada and Mexico, and we're just here to see what people have to think about immigration and what Trump's doing on the south border. [00:00:19] Taco Bell Water, authentic Mexican food, refreshing. [00:00:22] What's your name, man? [00:00:22] Yabali. [00:00:23] Ibali, we're here to talk and ask people what they think about Trump's building the southern border wall. [00:00:28] Is it a good idea or a bad idea? [00:00:29] I think it's a bad idea. [00:00:31] Honestly, I didn't know that much on the wall, but I guess it's pretty bad. [00:00:35] Last Mexican president actually expelled over 150,000 people out of his country. [00:00:38] So if Mexico believes that it's right to expel people out of their country and protect their borders, why do we not have the right to do the same with our southern partner? [00:00:45] Well, it's kind of hard to explain how, but they just don't want—they don't—they don't like the idea of the one he made. [00:00:52] What alternatives could we do to protect our borders at a cheaper cost? [00:00:59] I honestly don't know. [00:01:00] Maybe, like, how, like, you know how people clean up the streets for, like, community service? [00:01:06] Like Caltrans? [00:01:07] Yeah, and like maybe we could do a community service where you like patrol the borders or something, add more people, and like you get. [00:01:15] It's like you get a DUI, you have to go patrol the borders for like a couple days? [00:01:18] Yeah. [00:01:18] No, but I kind of like the war, I guess. [00:01:21] But like internally conflicted between liking it and hating it? [00:01:25] Yeah, yeah, something like that. [00:01:26] I believe it's a bad idea. [00:01:27] Could you explain why you believe it's a bad idea? [00:01:30] Because everyone should be treated the same. [00:01:33] I don't think people from Mexico should be borderline. [00:01:36] I think they should be part of our country. [00:01:37] We do, look, but this is a good interview because I got the Taco Bell Cup and you got the hot dog bun. [00:01:44] So, alright, so we're out here and we're just trying to ask people their opinion on what they think about Donald Trump putting billions of dollars and trying to erect a large border wall on the southern border with the United States and Mexico. [00:01:54] Well, it's a stupid idea, plain and simple. [00:01:57] So what would be the benefits of not having a border? [00:02:00] Just destroy it, let them pass, probably. [00:02:03] Okay, and what would be the negative sides of having a border? [00:02:07] Carl, this is a hard part. [00:02:09] What'd you say? [00:02:10] It's a hard part, a hard question. [00:02:11] So which parts of it do you like? [00:02:13] I like that it's a little bit more protected from, like, it protects us from, like... [00:02:17] It's kind of like a southern condom. [00:02:19] Alright, so we're live. [00:02:20] What's your name, man? [00:02:21] Joswe. [00:02:22] Josue, we're just here asking people their opinion on what they think about Trump's immigration policies on the south border with building a border wall and increased ICE enforcement in California. [00:02:32] Well, yeah. [00:02:34] I have like some skin in this because I have a lot of family members in France that are undocumented immigrants as well. [00:02:41] I mean my family, they came here undocumented and because of Reagan, you know, they had the amnesty and there it is. [00:02:47] So I think I'm against building the wall and militarizing the border more. [00:02:53] I think we should just be more open and also just that we should at least be more friendly. [00:02:59] I mean yeah I know we should have security, but I think militarizing the border is the wrong way to go. [00:03:04] So we were just out here, we were told that we were professionals. [00:03:06] We got my friend over here and he's saying that we can't shoot here because we're professionals. [00:03:10] That's pretty good because I have a Taco Bell Cup and a wooden spoon and a microphone and this is what counts for professional in Los Angeles these days. [00:03:18] That's pretty good stuff I gotta say. [00:03:20] Do you think like kind of the United States and Mexico should fuse into one nation? [00:03:23] Yes. [00:03:24] So we can all be one because everyone is woning on me. [00:03:26] What about Canada? [00:03:27] Canada? [00:03:28] I think everything should be the same. [00:03:30] If it goes for Mexico like what I said it should go for Canada too. [00:03:33] So then if we're going to Mexico and we go to Central America like Honduras and those kind of countries, El Salvador, Guatemala, should we possibly keep the border going and like kind of fuse through Central America all the way maybe in the south? [00:03:43] Yes. [00:03:43] I don't think it'll do much. [00:03:46] Like most immigrants come in by plane. [00:03:50] I have not heard that. [00:03:51] Haven't you? [00:03:53] Not illegal immigrants. [00:03:54] What do you think, like, other than a border wall, maybe we could, like, line people up on the border to tell people to go back? [00:03:58] Or what do you think we could do there? [00:04:01] You know what I mean? [00:04:02] Like, kind of like shouting, like, hey, you know, go back. [00:04:04] Yeah, yeah, yeah. [00:04:07] I don't know. [00:04:08] So, what do you think, though? [00:04:10] What do you think makes it a really bad idea to protect our border with a large wall? [00:04:15] Like, why is that one a bad idea, particularly, other than jobs? [00:04:19] Well, it really doesn't protect anything. [00:04:22] I mean, now that you have all these superhero movies, that should really explain, you know, the ultimate defense. [00:04:28] There is no such thing. [00:04:31] Yeah, I just wish they can blow up the border. [00:04:37] I just wish people can come in. [00:04:39] Want to blow it up? [00:04:40] What kind of explosives would we use to blow up the border wall? [00:04:42] Look, like hammer or C4 or something. [00:04:44] Like explosive hammers? [00:04:46] Yeah, explosive hammers. [00:04:47] Okay, that's pretty good. [00:04:48] And other than explosive hammers and those kinds of things, where do you think we could get the explosive hammers? [00:04:54] We're going to ask the military guys if they can understand what does. [00:04:58] They want to have a new lie. [00:04:59] They want to make new friends, new family, new jobs, new cars. [00:05:03] We're like the underground media, like the future of the media. [00:05:06] I understand, but. [00:05:07] We don't exist yet, but we will. [00:05:09] Okay, but why does it make you feel bad inside? [00:05:11] I don't know, man. [00:05:12] This is like my people and stuff like that. [00:05:14] Are you an American citizen? [00:05:16] Yeah, I was born here. [00:05:17] So how are Mexican people, your people? [00:05:20] It's like my family, like, I have family over there too in Mexico, so it's like... [00:05:26] Yeah, I have family in other countries, but I consider Americans to be more my people. [00:05:31] More what? [00:05:31] Like Americans, like you're my people. [00:05:33] Alright. [00:05:34] Will they come in on a visa, like legally, and then they overstay their visa and start becoming illegal immigrants? [00:05:41] We actually had, like, I think last year we had over a million border crossings, illegal border crossings, like a million people illegally crossed the border last year. [00:05:48] But we're cool out here on the bricks. [00:05:51] We can just talk to people, because you know, I mean, I don't know what you think is professional, but this is an old wooden spoon and an iPod cable from an iPhone 4. [00:05:58] I don't think it's very professional. [00:05:59] So if you know that the Constitution actually outlines that the president's job is to secure our borders and to secure the sovereignty of our country, so by doing that, he's actually just doing his job. [00:06:07] Do you think that he's doing the right thing by following the Constitution or the wrong thing in that place? [00:06:11] I mean, I feel he's doing the wrong thing because many presidents before him haven't done what he's trying to do now. [00:06:16] Like, did you know that President Obama deported more Hispanics to Mexico than any president before him? [00:06:22] No, I did not know that. [00:06:23] And did you know that President Obama also deployed and militarized the southern border with National Guard before Trump ever did that? [00:06:30] No, I did not know that. [00:06:33] But it's pretty crazy how that happened and everything like that. [00:06:36] I wish we were doing professional shooting because then we'd be successful, but we're not. [00:06:39] So like I said, you guys are good at people on here. [00:06:41] All right. [00:06:43] All right, perfect. [00:06:44] Thank you. [00:06:45] So what do you like about the southern border wall? [00:06:49] No, I don't know. [00:06:52] It's the drugs. [00:06:53] It stops them. [00:06:55] Less bad stuff to like. [00:06:57] No drogas. [00:06:58] We are good. [00:06:59] That's awesome. [00:07:00] We do have a wooden spoon, though, so I don't know what to say. [00:07:02] But I'm glad. [00:07:03] Cool. [00:07:04] We got a lot of security. [00:07:05] And Obama was the president to, he deported the most out of any president. [00:07:12] And I think that's something people don't know about and people need to know about. [00:07:16] It's not really just Democrat and Republican. [00:07:18] It's that everyone's doing that, you know? [00:07:20] And I think just it's a little saddening that the deportation has to happen, but I also know that it has to happen sometimes for especially for like the gang members, you know, or for the people who are the rapists and the murderers. [00:07:32] And then Donald Trump just said recently on the news about MSN13 members being animals and needing to be deported. [00:07:38] Do you agree with those statements? [00:07:40] That's hard, because initially you want to say yes, right? [00:07:44] Initially you want to say yes and like, oh yeah, of course we don't want those people in our country, right? [00:07:48] But also, the thing about it is when they send, when the gang members are deported, right, and they go back to the country, El Salvador or Mexico or any or Guatemala, right, they bring more gang violence, more gang violence to those countries as well. [00:08:02] So do you think it's better to have gang violence there or in our country? [00:08:06] I don't think either, really. [00:08:08] But if you had to choose, oh man, that's a hard choice because you don't want gang violence at all. [00:08:16] We gotta choose. [00:08:16] They're either here or there. [00:08:21] I don't think I could make that choice. [00:08:22] I just feel like we all should be one. [00:08:25] How do you suppose that we'd be one? [00:08:27] That instead of having people hate towards other people and Trump and stuff like that. === Gazebo Film Ban (00:43) === [00:08:34] The security said we could film in the public square. [00:08:37] No, no, no. [00:08:38] Yeah, they told us they don't want us to film it on this private property. [00:08:42] So not the public squares is not private property. [00:08:45] They said the security did? [00:08:46] No, not. [00:08:47] We can go talk to them. [00:08:48] Yeah, yeah. [00:08:49] Can we go? [00:08:50] Because they told us they don't want you filming the crops. [00:08:51] Okay, because they just told us that the only place we can't go, security, was in the gazebo. [00:08:56] Yeah, yeah. [00:08:58] Yeah. [00:08:58] So where can they film? [00:08:59] I thought you said like right here. [00:09:03] So now we can't film at all? [00:09:06] No, no, but you guys originally told me the square here, just not in the gazebo, and two people just walked by and told me I just can't film in there. [00:09:11] They said right here. [00:09:12] Now they're telling you they don't want you to film. [00:09:13] This is private property though. [00:09:14] Okay, cool. [00:09:15] So now it's changing? [00:09:17] All right.
