[00:08:52]  I am having Thanksgiving with my cousin, a lovely aunt, my cousin's wife, fiancé wife.
[00:08:59]  I think they got married or whatever.
[00:09:02]  And they're lovely people.
[00:09:04]  We're going to a restaurant because that's the move when you're older.
[00:09:09]  The move when you are older, it will take a lot of stress off of family when you just stop pretending this is a family.
[00:09:21]  Stop pretending you have a family.
[00:09:26]  And it will just, it takes the pressure off these situations.
[00:09:32]  If you have lots of fun kids and everyone's running around, or even if you just have one kid and there's, if there's a point, but a lot of families, myself included, are older, childless ex-addicts who meet very much like an AA meeting and love each other, care about each other, sure, but it's not a holiday that's filled with...
[00:10:01]  And I haven't had it yet.
[00:10:02]  So by the way, I'm probably wrong.
[00:10:04]  And it's lovely.
[00:10:06]  But have a reasonable expectation of what these things are.
[00:10:09]  They're for children.
[00:10:10]  Holidays are for children.
[00:10:13]  And if you don't have a big happy family, just grab a few people in your family and don't try to cook or do anything at someone's home.
[00:10:29]  Go to a restaurant.
[00:10:32]  You have an in and an out.
[00:10:34]  It starts at four.
[00:10:36]  You're out at six.
[00:10:38]  Hug, kiss, bye-bye in the car.
[00:10:42]  Don't do anything in somebody's house unless you have an actual family.
[00:10:49]  If you don't, do not pretend to.
[00:10:52]  Release yourself from the idea that you have to pretend to have a family.
[00:10:59]  Just go to a nice restaurant with people that you enjoy, whether they're blood relatives or not.
[00:11:07]  And, you know, that's all you have to do.
[00:11:12]  That's all you have to do.
[00:11:15]  Nobody has to be like putting a meat thermometer in the turret.
[00:11:19]  Hey, cut it out.
[00:11:20]  Especially all you divorce heads out there like me.
[00:11:25]  Once a family has been blended and it's like a divorced family, unless you get a really, really good one, you know, there's a ceiling to the love that you feel because most people will be strangers.
[00:11:43]  You'll just, you'll be sitting at a table with people you don't know.
[00:11:46]  Who are you?
[00:11:47]  Someone will say that.
[00:11:48]  When you have a divorced family, somebody at the Thanksgiving will go, who are you?
[00:11:52]  And you'll be introducing yourselves to each other at the Thanksgiving table.
[00:11:55]  Because that's a stranger.
[00:11:58]  That's someone you don't know.
[00:11:59]  And you just met them because your mommy or daddy married somebody's mommy or daddy.
[00:12:06]  And now you're meeting their cousin, whoever.
[00:12:11]  Just have a reasonable expectation of it.
[00:12:15]  Meet people.
[00:12:17]  And sometimes the move is to hit a few Thanksgivings.
[00:12:21]  Sometimes the move is to hit a few.
[00:12:25]  We're doing dessert with other people.
[00:12:29]  You know, whether that's true or not, you don't want to get in too deep.
[00:12:33]  Again, if you're in a position like I am where you're a child of divorce and you go to a house, you don't know who any of the people are and you're sitting there.
[00:12:43]  There's a lot of kids.
[00:12:44]  Some young people listen to the show.
[00:12:46]  They'll be sitting at a Thanksgiving and someone will be talking to them and it'll be a stranger.
[00:12:52]  They don't know who this person is.
[00:12:53]  Your dad is plowing some woman and he may not even have married her.
[00:12:59]  Your dad's banging some woman and her kid is talking to you or her sister's husband, whatever is talking to you and you're sitting there and you're 16 or 17 years old and you're going, I don't know who the hell these people are.
[00:13:16]  I don't know who they are.
[00:13:19]  They're not my family.
[00:13:20]  It's something.
[00:13:21]  There's something.
[00:13:23]  You shouldn't be rude to them.
[00:13:24]  You shouldn't, you know, be ungrateful for whatever they do for you.
[00:13:30]  They might make you a nice dinner, but know that your family has failed and you are living in the ruins of that.
[00:13:40]  Know that.
[00:13:41]  You're living in the ruins of what was an attempt at a life.
[00:13:46]  You are now in the ruins of two people's lives, your father's and whoever's.
[00:13:53]  You're in that now.
[00:13:55]  You're in the pieces that they're trying to pick up off the floor of their life.
[00:14:01]  Doesn't mean that mashed potatoes aren't good, but just know that you are in an experiment.
[00:14:08]  You are now a part of an experiment of people who are trying to, and I don't begrudge them this.
[00:14:17]  They're trying to figure out their life.
[00:14:19]  It's, you know, it's nothing to do with you, nothing to do with you.
[00:14:23]  And do the best that you can in that environment.
[00:14:25]  If you're a child of divorce or you're in a blended family, and maybe it's a super cool blended family, like the ones on TV where everybody loves each other and everybody, and it's not.
[00:14:38]  It's not going to be.
[00:14:40]  So you just have to do the best that you can living in the ruins of these people's lives.
[00:14:51]  They're trying to create a meaningful life and you are just around.
[00:14:58]  And there's nothing wrong with it, by the way.
[00:15:00]  It's actually good.
[00:15:02]  It's actually good because you then can, you know, you can enjoy it.
[00:15:08]  And then maybe next year you go to mom's or Christmas, you go with mom and whatever.
[00:15:13]  I don't know.
[00:15:14]  I don't know how you're going to live your life.
[00:15:16]  But, you know, I was talking to somebody the other day about Thanksgiving Eve.
[00:15:24]  People used to go out in that analog, dial-up, weird millennial world.
[00:15:29]  People used to go out and they used to go to a bar with their friends when they came home from college.
[00:15:35]  And I went to community college.
[00:15:37]  I didn't go anywhere.
[00:15:39]  And Thanksgiving Eve, people would come out.
[00:15:41]  They'd get really drunk and really fucked up.
[00:15:43]  And they'd see all the people that they knew.
[00:15:46]  And then they would realize they couldn't really be friends with those people anymore because something had changed.
[00:15:51]  And what changed was time.
[00:15:54]  Time, even that little bit of it from graduating from prom and graduation to November, which is basically six months.
[00:16:08]  Even that has just now you're at a distance from people that you were close to.
[00:16:13]  And that experience was an important experience going back and seeing someone and going, oh, we're kind of tight.
[00:16:20]  Oh, I was going to visit you.
[00:16:21]  Yeah, I was going to visit you.
[00:16:22]  And then nobody visits anybody.
[00:16:25]  Or people do.
[00:16:26]  People will occasionally.
[00:16:28]  But it's the beginning of this, you know, it's the beginning of you growing up.
[00:16:31]  And that's an important thing people don't do now.
[00:16:33]  People don't do it.
[00:16:34]  They don't really go out like, I mean, some people do.
[00:16:36]  But people don't go out like that and have that experience where they would see people on Thanksgiving Eve and like there'd be a cool family that would let you go to their house and you'd pregame at their house and the mom and the dad would be trying to keep it going and you'd feel it for a little bit.
[00:17:02]  You'd feel that old, good old fashioned feeling of being drunk in the suburbs in America.
[00:17:10]  That would be, it's a great feeling.
[00:17:13]  Truly, it's one of the best feelings in life is being drunk in the suburbs in America at a friend's home in their backyard smoking a weed.
[00:17:26]  Yes, it'll make some people schizophrenic, the weed.
[00:17:31]  But that is one of the greatest feelings you can have.
[00:17:34]  But that feeling is less and less fun as you get older.
[00:17:40]  And it gets sadder and sadder and sadder as you get older.
[00:17:44]  And you get angrier and angrier as you get older.
[00:17:46]  And then the people who get drunk in the suburbs at my age are scary.
[00:17:51]  They're very scary when they're really drunk at the suburbs at my age.
[00:17:56]  They're usually not doing great.
[00:17:58]  But when you come back from college the first time and you get to go back to your buddy's house and then maybe some of the high school kids are there and they're like, yo, what's that like?
[00:18:12]  And I remember that.
[00:18:14]  And I remember I was in community college, but I was still fun and people liked having me around.
[00:18:19]  But I always felt like, because a good friend of mine ended up going to Cornell, this kid that I was friends with.
[00:18:25]  He ended up going to Cornell and I went nowhere.
[00:18:29]  And I felt very insecure about that as I should have.
[00:18:33]  You know?
[00:18:34]  Well, the joke's on him now because I'm the most important person in the world, actually.
[00:18:39]  But I remember that.
[00:18:44]  And I feel bad.
[00:18:45]  Part of the reason people are losing their minds right now is the internet sucks.
[00:18:52]  It's not good.
[00:18:53]  Your wins are barely wins and your L's are barely L's, meaning like the lives that everybody has created on the internet are deeply unfulfilling lives.
[00:19:06]  And even remembering like simple things that you would do, you know, with friends or whatever, these things that are so important to do in life, people don't even do them anymore.
[00:19:18]  People don't do them.
[00:19:19]  Everybody's being manipulated by algorithms and they're all going insane.
[00:19:25]  But life's actually kind of simple and it's not that complicated.
[00:19:30]  And Truly, one of the best things you can do when you're, you know, I know everyone's like, nobody wants to drink anymore or do whatever.
[00:19:39]  And I'm, again, I'm sober 15 years.
[00:19:41]  I know that drinking can be fucked up.
[00:19:44]  But one of the best things you can do as a young person is be drunk in the suburbs of this country with your friends.
[00:19:54]  There's only a finite amount of time that you will get to live a silly life without responsibilities.
[00:20:04]  And you shouldn't immediately, you should not totally get rid of that to become some political psycho or somebody who needs to make a billion dollars in crypto tomorrow or Looks Max where you're smashing the bones in your jaw with a hammer.
[00:20:22]  And it's what people are doing.
[00:20:24]  They're smashing.
[00:20:25]  They're already hot.
[00:20:27]  These people are already hot and they're smashing bones with a hammer to make their face shape.
[00:20:36]  And this is a bad life.
[00:20:40]  If you're smashing your bones with a hammer to make your face, and you're already hot.
[00:20:48]  Some of these guys, I go, you're already hot.
[00:20:50]  What are you doing?
[00:20:52]  If that's what you're doing or if you, if you, if it's all politics, or if you are trying to be so rich and that's consuming your life and you're not laughing with your friends and you're not trying to meet someone, like it just, these lives that people create, they suck.
[00:21:16]  Truly, they're not good lives.
[00:21:20]  You know, like you, you, you read about these people that are radicalized to one direction or the other.
[00:21:28]  They're angry all the time and they're, they're.
[00:21:32]  They have all this purpose and they're, but but none of it's like, none of it's to like have any fun.
[00:21:41]  So everybody's trying to get rich and change the world, but no one's having any fun.
[00:21:46]  I have a lot of fun, I do.
[00:21:48]  I try, even though sometimes it's hard because my phone is tapped and there's people trying to kill me.
[00:21:57]  Um and, by the way and I was texted Candace this morning you know how insulting it's gonna be when I find out how much they paid for me to get killed.
[00:22:07]  Nothing they're transferring.
[00:22:10]  She thinks her and I and I believe her.
[00:22:12]  She found something that they transferred, 1.5 million, somebody.
[00:22:15]  I don't.
[00:22:16]  I don't know what's going on, but you know they're gonna Venmo somebody $60 to hit me in the head.
[00:22:22]  You know insane that's gonna be.
[00:22:24]  They're gonna Venmo $60 for somebody to just come up and hit me in the head.
[00:22:32]  But I still try to have fun.
[00:22:35]  Small you do small things that are are fun.
[00:22:41]  You don't need to solve the world's problems.
[00:22:45]  The thing with having friends and going out in real life.
[00:22:48]  One of the reasons you want to do it is so that you can meet people.
[00:22:51]  You don't want to be like your friends, have uncles.
[00:22:55]  But my friend had this uncle.
[00:22:56]  We called him Drunkle.
[00:22:57]  He was a great guy, had a chubby wife.
[00:22:59]  They would drink and beat each other up and and he hung out with us all the time he was drunk, he was angry and he smoked.
[00:23:05]  There's a lot of great things about him, but we said we don't want to be him.
[00:23:08]  He lived in this basement apartment.
[00:23:09]  Him, his wife, get hammered and fall down and, as fun as it was, we said to ourselves, he this, this is a problem.
[00:23:18]  But they were very fun people, they were good people and they took us in and let us, you know, drink and use drugs in their home.
[00:23:26]  But we we, They just, you know, there was a really, really fat guy once in a limo and we went to a strip club and this really, really fat guy was like, what I get in that club, I'm going to fucking tear it up.

=== Real Life vs. Online Fame (15:33) ===

[00:23:41]  And then he just slept.
[00:23:42]  He fell asleep because when you're that big, his body's working so hard to just stay alive.
[00:23:47]  He fell asleep in the strip club.
[00:23:50]  I'm sorry, in the limo before we got to the strip club.
[00:23:54]  And then we all went outside to the limo and he woke up on the way back to my friend's house where they were dropping everyone off.
[00:24:04]  He had just slept the whole time in the limo and he had never made it into the strip club.
[00:24:12]  And we said, and we said to ourselves, that's tough.
[00:24:16]  He was a good guy, but he was so big that his body was working so hard to just stay alive that he couldn't get into the strip club.
[00:24:26]  He fell asleep in the limo.
[00:24:30]  And we were in there a couple of hours.
[00:24:31]  He just slept in the, in the, he slept in the limo.
[00:24:35]  It was just this really, really, really big guy sleeping in the limo.
[00:24:38]  And it's important for you to see things like that as a kid to go, I don't know if I want that.
[00:24:43]  I don't want that as a life.
[00:24:46]  Doesn't mean you're going to be perfect, but you go, I don't want that as a life.
[00:24:51]  You know, like the drunk uncle would break up with the chick all the time.
[00:24:54]  They'd have these screaming fights.
[00:24:56]  She'd be banging on his door.
[00:24:58]  They'd fight on the lawn.
[00:24:59]  The neighbors would call the cops on him.
[00:25:02]  And they were fun, but you would say, I can't live like that.
[00:25:09]  Too much chaos.
[00:25:11]  And that's why you need to go out.
[00:25:13]  But I feel like I got to be honest, not to sound too dark.
[00:25:17]  I just feel like that's not coming back.
[00:25:19]  Like those real world experiences that are so important aren't coming back.
[00:25:27]  Everybody's formative experiences now are all digital.
[00:25:31]  They're all online.
[00:25:33]  So people are just, again, smashing the face with the hammer, the looks maxing, the Bitcoin.
[00:25:42]  I need to have all the money in Bitcoin.
[00:25:44]  It's what young people do.
[00:25:45]  I need all the money now.
[00:25:47]  I want to dropship.
[00:25:49]  I want to have a Lamborghini.
[00:25:51]  I want to live in Dubai.
[00:25:52]  It's like, dude, relax.
[00:25:55]  Be 19.
[00:25:56]  Calm down.
[00:25:58]  I mean, there's plenty of time in life for you to get involved in some scam.

[00:26:07]  Statistically, you'll be around to get in a scam at some point in your life that won't work out.

[00:26:17]  You don't need to be in a scam at 14 years old trying to drop ship and playing these games.

[00:26:28]  And online puts it all out there.
[00:26:30]  It's like, you know, like all these coaches are always coaching people as to how to like just make millions of dollars.
[00:26:38]  And all these coaches do is drive around and have other people film them driving around in a Lamborghini.
[00:26:46]  So, I mean, I don't even understand what the money is for at this point.
[00:26:50]  And then all these young people are like, well, I got to make all this money so that someone can film me driving around in a Lamborghini.
[00:26:59]  And then I don't understand.
[00:27:01]  So what?
[00:27:03]  I don't know.
[00:27:04]  I mean, then you have a Lamborghini.

[00:27:08]  I don't, is that all anyone wants is to just live in Miami and have a Lamborghini?
[00:27:16]  It's like a horrible life.
[00:27:18]  This is people that don't know anything.
[00:27:19]  This is what you want when you're a 15-year-old.
[00:27:22]  You want to have a Lamborghini and live in Miami.
[00:27:24]  You think it's a good life?

[00:27:26]  I know a lot of people that have it.
[00:27:27]  like a terrible life.
