[00:00:36]  And then there's a lot of other people that really care, but, you know, there's a lot of people that I think are pretending.
[00:00:41]  They seem to be, you know, they seem to be a little bit more moved than they're actually than they truly are because tomorrow they wake up, they don't care.

[00:00:52]  It's a nice collective experience for a city that doesn't really like the collective.

[00:01:03]  But someone's done something else.

[00:01:07]  And it's nice to pretend to care about it, even though most people don't.
[00:01:12]  The people that do are like regular people that are not in LA to like makes, you know, make like something or make it.
[00:01:21]  They're human beings who live in LA and work and have families.
[00:01:24]  They care.
[00:01:25]  But the people that I'm around and the people that I, you know, observe are pretending to care because it allows them to have a collective experience, even though it's fraudulent and not real.
[00:01:39]  It allows them for a few minutes to pretend that they can enjoy something outside of themselves, which is completely, they're incapable of doing.
[00:01:49]  And this allows them to pretend that they can do that, which they cannot.
[00:01:52]  But, you know, it's fun.

[00:01:55]  We just got hassled by the LAPD on the way to the studio.
[00:01:59]  Two cops pulled us over, an Asian guy and a bold guy.
[00:02:02]  And we had inched over the line.
[00:02:04]  What was it?

[00:02:06]  The traffic line, the intersection line.
[00:02:08]  Now, by the way, he was next to us, the cops, and we pulled up to where he was.
[00:02:14]  And then he pulled up.
[00:02:15]  So I kind of thought I could pull up because I figured that, well, he's pulling up.
[00:02:20]  I guess I could pull up.
[00:02:21]  But, you know, what he's basically saying is we're pulling up because for our own safety, we don't like people next to us because we think you could take shots at us or whatever, which again, you know, we weren't planning to do.
[00:02:33]  But I didn't realize that.
[00:02:35]  I know it's bad out there, but I didn't realize.
[00:02:38]  I didn't think he was like, oh, they're going to shoot us in the head.
[00:02:42]  So we'll go up.
[00:02:44]  So he moved up.

[00:02:45]  And then he looked at me.
[00:02:48]  And do you remember the first thing he said?
[00:02:50]  I don't really remember.
[00:02:51]  He said, sir, why did you roll through the line there?
[00:02:53]  Have you been drinking tonight?
[00:02:54]  Yeah, he goes, you've been drinking tonight?
[00:02:55]  I'm like, first of all, the light is green.
[00:02:57]  I'm like, it's a green light.
[00:02:59]  So I'm going through the green light.
[00:03:02]  Okay.
[00:03:03]  That's how it works.
[00:03:06]  And he's like, well, I'm going to pull you over to do a Deewee check.
[00:03:09]  And I'm like, I'd exhibited no behavior of drinking.
[00:03:13]  I was not swerving.
[00:03:15]  There was no smell of marijuana or alcohol in the car.
[00:03:20]  You know, there was nothing going on.
[00:03:22]  We're on our way to the studio.
[00:03:24]  And every time I defend the cops, by the way, and when I say I defend the cops, I just defend the idea that there needs to be a police force.
[00:03:31]  I don't really defend the cops per se.
[00:03:34]  I just defend the idea that you need to have some enforcement of the law or rich people just hire mercenaries.
[00:03:44]  And then chaos ensues.
[00:03:47]  But every time I even try to defend that, you know, you have interactions with these people and they're always bad and they're always like kind of abusive.
[00:03:57]  I'm a white guy in a nice car.
[00:04:00]  Imagine if I was a black guy, what they could get away with doing.
[00:04:03]  They bait you into saying something disrespectful so that they can bring you in.
[00:04:09]  He kept threatening me with other.
[00:04:11]  First of all, we pull over, okay?
[00:04:13]  And you could tell he's mentally unstable.
[00:04:15]  Many people in the LAPD are mentally unstable.
[00:04:18]  Okay.
[00:04:18]  This is not their first choice of employment.
[00:04:21]  He identified himself as a DRE.
[00:04:24]  What was it again?
[00:04:25]  A drug recognition expert.
[00:04:26]  Yeah, a drug recognition expert.
[00:04:29]  He's an expert on recognizing when people are on drugs because apparently that's hard to do.
[00:04:38]  It's an art.
[00:04:39]  It's a science because you would never know when someone's on drugs unless you had a drug recognition expert.
[00:04:47]  So lucky.
[00:04:48]  So now this drug recognition expert, based on the fact that I was not swerving, not slurring, no smell of alcohol or marijuana, but I was answering his questions coherently.
[00:05:00]  He was like, oh, he must be fucked up.
[00:05:04]  So he pulls me over and then he starts going at me.
[00:05:08]  He goes, have you had a drink?
[00:05:09]  I said, not in 13 years, which is true.
[00:05:12]  And he goes, okay.
[00:05:15]  And then I'm like, he goes, well, we're going to do a test here.
[00:05:20]  And he pulls out a pen.
[00:05:22]  And he goes, what color is the pen?
[00:05:24]  No, it's a clear pen.
[00:05:26]  It's a clear pen that looks bluish, purplish, kind of.
[00:05:31]  It's a weird tint.
[00:05:32]  It's a big pen.
[00:05:34]  I go, I don't know, blue, clear.
[00:05:36]  He's like, oh, he thinks he's got someone.
[00:05:39]  Like, dummy.
[00:05:40]  First of all, it's not even a sobriety test.
[00:05:41]  A sobriety test, you get me out of the car.
[00:05:44]  This is like a waste of both of our time.
[00:05:46]  You just want to bait me into saying something crazy.
[00:05:48]  You can bring me in and then you don't have to do your job for the rest of the night.
[00:05:52]  I get it.
[00:05:54]  So this emotionally unstable lunatic then has me follow the pen cap with my eyes.
[00:06:00]  He's like, don't move your head, just your eyes, which I can do.
[00:06:03]  I go to the left, you know, right, left, right.
[00:06:06]  We get it.
[00:06:08]  I complete that and he goes, you know, he's kind of a dick.
[00:06:15]  He's being a dick.
[00:06:17]  And I go, it's rental.
[00:06:20]  Here's the insurance.
[00:06:22]  I've not had a drink in 12 years.
[00:06:24]  We're going to work.
[00:06:27]  He's being a dick.
[00:06:28]  So then he's more of a dick, starts lecturing me about Deewee's and, you know, whatever.
[00:06:33]  And this is my job.
[00:06:34]  And I'm like, okay, but I passed.
[00:06:36]  We're done.
[00:06:38]  So then as he's leaving, I go, scumbag to Ben, because I was yelling at Ben.
[00:06:44]  But here's the deal with them.
[00:06:45]  You can't say to their face, they'll put you in jail.
[00:06:47]  But what you do is you say to someone in the car something about them because that's freedom of speech.
[00:06:52]  But if you say it to them, they will say that you are being whatever, menacing, threatening, or that you are out, you know, because he's like, he alluded to the fact that he could take me in for multiple tests.
[00:07:08]  He goes, that's only one test.
[00:07:09]  There's many tests.
[00:07:10]  So what he's basically saying is, say the wrong thing, I'll bring you in.
[00:07:14]  You'll pee in a cop.
[00:07:15]  We'll do blood, whatever it is, you know, which then I call a million lawyers and we go to war with piggy blue collar piggy pig.

[00:07:27]  But he's, you know, drunk on his own power.

[00:07:43]  I was like, oh, I didn't see anything.

[00:07:47]  I can say whatever I want.
[00:07:49]  He goes, well, what did you say?
[00:07:50]  I said, it's none of your concern.
[00:07:52]  And then we just start fighting, like going at it for what, about 20 minutes?

[00:07:56]  20 minutes going back and forth with this civil servant slob about um you know why i have rights that's all about why i have rights and why this idiot uh doesn't get to just you know uh and again this is the pandemic or whatever it is it's going back to 9-11.

[00:08:19]  And I'm like, I'm like, with the city falling apart, with people getting killed, smashing grabs, robberies, do you think the best use of your time right now is to argue with a guy that we've proven is sober and is not breaking any laws?

[00:08:32]  He's like, well, what do you do for a living?
[00:08:34]  I said, I'm Gavin Newsom's personal assistant.

[00:08:43]  I said, I'm not crazy well-known compared to other people, but I'm decently well-known.

[00:08:51]  I'm like, no, I defend cops on large platforms.

[00:09:59]  I held my ground because the thing is, is they're so used to just trampling on people's civil liberties and rights.

[00:12:14]  And Vladimir Putin is not letting them into the Olympics because he, you know, he does not like gay people.

[00:12:26]  We are going to have to have a nuclear war with Russia.

[00:12:32]  We're going to have to have, because I thought this was like the Ukraine joining NATO and like NATO pushing further into Russia's territory and then kind of like, you know, they're kind of prone to invasion and them kind of freaking out going, hey, you're encircling us.

[00:12:53]  There is a non-binary figure skating team that is being denied entry to the Olympics by Russia.

[00:14:02]  Russia does not like being encircled.
[00:14:04]  They don't like NATO pushing past Germany more into Russia's world.
[00:14:08]  And then if the Ukraine joins NATO, I mean, it's right on their doorstep, right?
[00:14:13]  NATO, of course, being this group of countries that the North Atlantic Trade Organization, right?

[00:14:20]  And what they basically do is, well, you know, it's a trade organization, an economic, political, military alliance that you can join.
[00:14:29]  And if the Ukraine is in it, it's really bringing NATO right to Russia's doorstep.

[00:14:36]  So nobody really knows what's going to go down.
[00:14:40]  The Ukrainian president keeps saying that nothing's going to happen.
[00:14:43]  Like, no, there's nothing to worry about.
[00:14:46]  Well, the Ukrainian president keeps saying relax.

[00:14:50]  But 160 Florida National Guard soldiers have safely left the Ukraine.
[00:14:58]  So that is a few women in Ukraine not being sexually assaulted by the Florida National Guard.

[00:16:34]  Bay Area homeowners are being asked to help to house homeless residents.
[00:16:43]  In the Bay Area of California, in Northern California, they are having problems with homelessness.
[00:16:51]  And the government now, to their credit, is no longer pretending that they're functional.
[00:16:57]  Remember that story about the children who drive the ambulances?

[00:17:03]  They didn't have anyone to drive the ambulances.
[00:17:06]  So I forget where this was, but they just started enlisting the help of, I think, like high school kids to just drive ambulances because they couldn't find anyone else to do it.
[00:17:16]  And again, it was one of those feel-good stories where they're like, take a look at this.
[00:17:20]  We are so proud of our young boys and girls.

[00:17:29]  COVID-19 affected the local volunteer ambulance service.
[00:17:31]  Local high school services took to require training and picked up to slack.
[00:17:35]  Man, me and my friends would be just baking out the ambulance.
[00:17:38]  We'd just be getting so high in that ambulance.
[00:17:42]  Let's watch this little segment.
[00:17:45]  When people call for an ambulance in Sacketts Harbor, New York, and the crew shows up at their front door.
[00:17:51]  They're 12.
[00:17:51]  Almost everyone has the same reaction.
[00:17:54]  A lot of people just come up and ask you, like, wait, how old are you?
[00:17:56]  Right.
[00:17:57]  You're the EMT.
[00:17:58]  Right.
[00:17:59]  When's the ambulance coming?
[00:18:00]  So what do you say?
[00:18:01]  Just explain to them, we are the ambulance.
[00:18:05]  These babyfaced first responders took over the village's emergency medical services not long after COVID hit, when all the older EMS volunteers either couldn't or wouldn't do the job anymore.

[00:18:18]  That exodus would be part of a national trend.
[00:18:20]  In rural America, 35% of ambulance services are all volunteer.
[00:18:25]  Pay them.
[00:18:26]  Maybe that's a bad model.
[00:18:27]  69% say they're struggling.
[00:18:29]  That's a horrible model, huh?
[00:18:31]  Fortunately.
[00:18:31]  40% of people coming to get you are doing it because they want to.
[00:18:36]  Pause that for New York State.

[00:18:40]  35% of ambulance workers in rural America are volunteers.
[00:18:45]  35% of people that are coming to get you in your moment of need are doing it because they feel like it.
[00:18:51]  I mean, is that a problem?
[00:18:54]  But now we got kids doing it.
[00:18:55]  So in the great spirit of this, because I think this is great, I think it's good.

[00:19:10]  You know, we love drugs and just being on Long Island, being in an ambulance, being high.

[00:19:22]  So in San Jose, California, as the Bay Area continues to struggle under the weight of its homelessness crisis, officials and nonprofits are asking local residents to do more than hand out meals or donate spare change.

[00:19:36]  Hey, because no one's doing that either.
[00:19:39]  No one's handing out meals.
[00:19:41]  So I like that they're saying, you got to do more than this.
[00:19:43]  And people go, who's doing that?
[00:19:46]  Handing out meals, they're asking them to open up their homes.
[00:19:50]  Nearly 30,000 people are unhoused in the five-county Bay Area, and there isn't nearly enough room in the region's existing affordable housing developments to fill the gaps.
[00:20:00]  Service providers increasingly are recruiting private landlords to take in homeless tenants.
[00:20:05]  Some property owners are renting out entire units in exchange for agreements that the government or a nonprofit will cover the rent.
[00:20:12]  Others are offering up a spare bedroom fund in their home sometimes in exchange for a small stipend, sometimes as a purely or as a purely charitable act.
[00:20:24]  Now, how does this work?
[00:20:27]  Because I, this is a very interesting idea.
[00:20:30]  You have a spare bedroom and you bring in someone that may be addicted to drugs or emotionally unstable.
[00:20:38]  And by the way, it's America, so members of your household already may be addicted to drugs and emotionally unstable.
[00:20:48]  You may be adding another person because that's what a lot of teenagers are right now, right?
[00:20:55]  You have an emotionally unstable drug addict in the home, and now you're bringing in a buddy.
[00:21:01]  You're bringing in a buddy.
[00:21:03]  It's Harry and the Hendersons.
[00:21:05]  It's like it's bringing in a fun, you know, it's down and down Beverly Hills.

[00:21:13]  Quote here, recruiting landlords also is a challenge for the Homecoming Project, which houses formerly incarcerated people, a group that's often stigmatized.
[00:21:22]  Using donations, the nonprofit pays hosts in Alameda and Contra cost to counties $30 a day to house someone in a spare bedroom for six months.
[00:21:31]  Each former inmate is matched with a case manager to help them find a job and save money for a permanent home.
[00:21:37]  Sex offenders aren't eligible.
[00:21:39]  Now, let's get one thing straight.
[00:21:41]  I am very much for people turning their lives around and not being stigmatized, especially with nonviolent drug charges, right?
[00:21:51]  I don't think people should carry these things for the rest of their life.
[00:21:54]  I don't think it should prevent them from working.
[00:21:58]  And I do think that they need a place to stay.
[00:22:01]  I do, though, think it is quite hilarious that with all the money that the government of California takes in, the only option they have is to go to citizens and go, do you have a room?
[00:22:16]  That's the only option.
[00:22:19]  After the billions of tax dollars that flow into the state of California, the only thing you can do is say, hey, do you guys got any rooms?
[00:22:33]  Zach Stein, Zach Stein and his wife volunteered with say, by the way, remember there was a homeless guy.
[00:22:39]  There was a guy in Beverlywood who worked with the homeless.
[00:22:42]  And I'm not dissuading anyone from working with the homeless by just telling you this factual story.
[00:22:47]  There was a guy in Beverly Wood who worked with the homeless.
[00:22:49]  A homeless guy followed him home and stabbed him to death.
[00:22:53]  I think it was Brentwood, maybe.

[00:22:56]  I believe it was in Beverlywood, but it doesn't really matter.
