The David Knight Show - The David Knight Show - 03/17/2026 Aired: 2026-03-17 Duration: 10:56 === Helium Through The Strait (09:54) === [00:01:01] In a world of deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act. [00:01:08] It's the David Knight Show. [00:01:15] As the clock strikes 13, it's Tuesday, the 17th of March. [00:01:20] Year of our Lord, 2026. [00:01:23] Yes, it is St. Patrick's Day, and today we're going to talk about Ted Cruz taking on Catholics. [00:01:31] This is coming at a time when we just saw what happened with Kerry Prigene Baller being kicked off of the Religious Liberty Commission by Trump because we will not have any religious liberty or any free speech if you disagree with the Zionists. [00:01:51] We're going to talk about that as well as Trump's desperation for help. [00:01:57] It's almost as if he made a mistake. [00:02:00] And papers around the world are blaming this on him. [00:02:04] And people are saying, well, I don't think so. [00:02:08] I don't think we're going to get drug into this quagmire that you created. [00:02:13] He's getting the cold shoulder from all these different people. [00:02:16] So his response, we'll talk about what his response is. [00:02:19] We'll be right back. [00:02:20] The UK Telegraph. [00:02:43] I mean, this is not The Guardian. [00:02:44] It's not a left-wing rag. [00:02:46] I mean, it's an establishment paper. [00:02:48] But the way they describe this is Trump's mother of all miscalculations. [00:02:54] And so, yeah, it is Trump's mother of all miscalculations. [00:02:58] And right now, he's out there screaming, I need somebody, not just anybody. [00:03:06] You know, I need someone. [00:03:12] Yeah, when he was running for president, he said he wouldn't do this when he was younger, you know. [00:03:18] But he went ahead and did it anyway because he was told that he needed to by his boss. [00:03:23] And so here we are. [00:03:25] And his response to all this, many people are writing headlines like this. [00:03:28] We've got not just the Telegraph, but there's also the, this is an article that was on mainstream media from Yahoo. [00:03:39] That's where I got it, but I don't know who wrote the article here. [00:03:42] But Trump's humiliating war miscalculation exposed. [00:03:46] That's another version of that. [00:03:49] And so, you know, if you can't Get them out of the Hormuz Strait. [00:03:58] Well, we've got a lot of issues here. [00:04:01] And it's much bigger, as I pointed out yesterday, much bigger than just oil. [00:04:06] If you look at other things that travel through the Strait of Hormuz, there's a lot of helium that goes through. [00:04:12] As a matter of fact, one-third or slightly more than a third of the world's helium goes through the Strait of Hormuz as well. [00:04:19] And where does that come from? [00:04:21] Well, that comes from the gigantic liquid petroleum gas facility there, Raz Laffan, that has already been attacked once by Iran. [00:04:33] They will attack it again. [00:04:35] And they said, next time we will destroy it. [00:04:37] You know, Trump didn't just kind of dismiss the idea that Iran could do anything because they were restrained in the past when they've been attacked by the U.S. and by Israel. [00:04:50] And so they had warned, you know, you do this again, we're going to let everything go. [00:04:54] He just dismissed that. [00:04:56] And so you've got people now in the Trump administration saying, well, we need to move in and destroy Iran's facilities. [00:05:04] They've already said, if you do that, we're going to destroy all the other oil ports, the refineries, the drilling sites, all these different things. [00:05:14] And so they've already done one small attack at the giant liquid natural gas facility, Raz Lafin, if I'm pronouncing that correctly. [00:05:25] And so that's in Qatar. [00:05:27] And that produces, besides the natural gas, as a byproduct, they get a massive amount of helium. [00:05:32] And that's about a third of the world's helium. [00:05:35] We don't use it just for balloons. [00:05:37] We use it to make state-of-the-art semiconductors. [00:05:40] And the facilities in Taiwan and South Korea are completely dependent on them for helium. [00:05:48] We also use it in MRI machines. [00:05:52] It's a consumable that's part of the MRI machines, as well as launching rockets. [00:05:56] There's a lot of ancillary things that are being shut down. [00:06:00] It's not just oil. [00:06:02] Oil is going to increase the price of everything, but there's a lot of other materials that are being shut down by this foolish operation as well. [00:06:09] And in terms of global supplies, it's estimated there's only about a 45-day global supply of helium available. [00:06:20] And so I guess Trump feels like, well, you know, we produce some of that here. [00:06:24] In the United States, we produce quite a bit of it as well. [00:06:28] So we'll be, everybody will be dependent on us for oil and for helium. [00:06:32] So we win. [00:06:33] You don't win if you shut down all the supply chains. [00:06:37] This is what Trump doesn't understand. [00:06:39] This is the foolishness of his tariffs. [00:06:42] Whatever your long-term plans are, you have to have a reasonable path to get there. [00:06:49] They don't have any reasonable tactics to secure their long-term strategy. [00:06:55] And they don't care about it either. [00:06:56] They're just going to move fast and break things and figure it out later. [00:07:01] And this is a pattern that we see being repeated over and over and over again in the Trump administration, just like him relying on declaring something to be an emergency so that he can skip all the laws, all the rules in the Constitution. [00:07:16] He moves quickly and he destroys everything. [00:07:19] And then it winds up affecting us as well. [00:07:22] Because if we shut down helium to the Asian manufacturers of chips, semiconductors, and they can't make those semiconductors, we don't have a way to do that right away. [00:07:38] If you wanted to do that, that would take a long time to do that. [00:07:40] And it's not something that the government can force. [00:07:44] You know, they've tried to subsidize this with the CHIPS Act from Biden. [00:07:47] And now Trump and his socialist urges that he wants to do. [00:07:51] He is trying to incentivize this, which basically just boils down to crony corruption. [00:07:58] And that's what it is. [00:07:59] It's not capitalism at all. [00:08:00] It's just cronyism and corruption. [00:08:04] So the inner circle of Trump, as the Telegraph says, Briasley downplayed the risk that the Iranian regime facing an existential fight for survival would respond far more drastically than it did during the 12-day war last June. [00:08:20] The White House appeared unprepared for Tehran to reach for its equivalent of a nuclear button, a shutdown of the Strait of Hormuz. [00:08:28] In those preliminary meetings, General Kane told Trump that an American attack on Iran would prompt the regime to close the Strait of Hormuz, citing decades of U.S. preparation for such an eventuality. [00:08:40] But he doesn't listen. [00:08:42] Doesn't listen to his military planners, which is a real concerning thing in terms of what he's going to do next with Karig Island. [00:08:52] Is he going to take that over? [00:08:54] And is he going to have an amphibious landing of that or the Strait of Hormuz or something like that? [00:08:59] It would be absolute folly based on what military commanders are saying. [00:09:04] It'd be like a cavalry charge at Normandy Beach or something, because the technology has changed since they did amphibious landings. [00:09:14] And of course, they were always a costly thing to do in terms of human life. [00:09:19] Does Trump care about that? [00:09:22] Well, there's no evidence that he cares for the lives of soldiers and sailors at all. [00:09:27] None. [00:09:28] None whatsoever. [00:09:29] He has nothing but contempt for the people that he uses, just like Henry Kissinger. [00:09:35] And so if this doesn't make sense as a military strategy, if Trump is going to do this just for fun, as he said, if he's going to do it to show how powerful he is by disregarding the lives of the people who have sworn to protect the Constitution, [00:09:54] not to do his every whim, quite frankly, this is a real possibility because he's arrogantly disregarded not only the law and the Constitution and the national rules of war and the morality restrictions that we had on it, but he's also ignoring the pragmatic advice of his military commanders. [00:10:18] And so we've already seen this in terms of pushing back against the advice of General Kane. [00:10:24] Sources familiar with the discussion told the Wall Street Journal Trump acknowledged the risk, but replied that Tehran would probably be, would probably capitulate before severing the world's most vital shipping lane. [00:10:36] Even if it went ahead, the American military could wrestle back control regardless of the cost, right? [00:10:43] I don't care how much money, how much material, how many lives it takes. [00:10:48] You guys can do it. [00:10:50] I got a lot of confidence in you, he says, right? [00:10:53] It's not no confidence in their advice.
