The David Knight Show - Tennessee’s Homeschool Revolution: Parents Break Free from UN Shackles in Epic Showdown! Aired: 2025-02-20 Duration: 07:14 === Tennessee's Education Freedom Act (07:08) === [00:00:00] Meanwhile, in Tennessee, we have some good legislation, and this is also an interesting thing. [00:00:13] This is from Alex Newman, by the way, who is highly focused on educational issues and does great work in that area. [00:00:23] So, in Tennessee, we've recently had a school choice issue that concerned a lot of us. [00:00:33] It gives a lot of money to schools, and it has been championed by our big government globalist governor, Bill Lee, who happens to be a Republican who cares about that label. [00:00:47] It's null and void, really. [00:00:49] And this is something that the UN, through UNESCO, has told. [00:00:53] And they said, look, we've got problems with government schools. [00:00:57] So make sure that you start funding the private schools so that you can control them, right? [00:01:02] Again, it's about the money. [00:01:04] Same as it is about the boys on the girls' teams or the boys in the girls' showers. [00:01:08] It's about money. [00:01:09] That's how you control it. [00:01:10] That's how you set the agenda. [00:01:12] That's how you control and set the curriculum. [00:01:14] And all of it is by the money. [00:01:16] And so the UN is saying, start these choice programs now. [00:01:21] So that you're going to put the hooks in there to control them. [00:01:23] And that's why I say, if Trump gets rid of the Department of Education, which I loathe, he's going to keep control by doing it the way the UN and UNESCO wants it to be done. [00:01:34] And that is with the financial strings. [00:01:37] And the Republicans still don't get it. [00:01:40] The MAGA people still don't get it. [00:01:43] Like many other states, Tennessee still has on its books outdated regulations and infringements. [00:01:48] On the rights of homeschooling parents. [00:01:51] These include a requirement that parents who choose to educate their children at home have to notify education authorities, maintain records for bureaucrats to inspect, and to have a high school diploma. [00:02:03] And we were supposedly supposed to do that in North Carolina, and we didn't comply with it. [00:02:11] I mean, we just stopped with it. [00:02:14] We started and gave a name to our school as they required. [00:02:18] But I never sent them anything and just waited to see what they were going to do. [00:02:22] They never did anything. [00:02:23] Now, that's what's happening in Tennessee, but that leaves people in this kind of limbo where you could get an activist government come in and start to do something about it. [00:02:32] So this has been introduced by Representative Todd Warner here in Tennessee, a Republican, the Family Right to Educational Emancipation Act, the Free Act. [00:02:49] And it's also been introduced in the Senate by Janie Bolling. [00:02:59] goal of enshrining in law, quote, the fundamental right of parents to direct the education, upbringing, and care of their children, unquote. [00:03:06] Under the measure, the state also acknowledges that parents, not government, have the primary responsibility for determining the educational path of their children. [00:03:14] This is it. [00:03:15] This is the right way. [00:03:17] This is at the state level. [00:03:18] It's not going to be done at the federal level. [00:03:20] This is at the state level, and it establishes the fact that parents are in control of their children and their children's education. [00:03:27] This is the right way to do it. [00:03:29] Key element of the bill is that it created an additional homeschooling category that is free from bureaucratic oversight. [00:03:35] And interference that currently exists, or at least the threat of it. [00:03:40] Parents who want state oversight could still have it if they wanted it. [00:03:44] Who wants that? [00:03:47] Though it would no longer be required to be able to educate one's children at home legally. [00:03:54] It is a great honor. [00:03:56] Said Warner, who introduced this bill in the House, it is a great honor to carry an education freedom bill that protects homeschoolers across this great state of Tennessee. [00:04:05] This is a true school choice bill for families in Tennessee. [00:04:09] I remember when we were homeschooling, Tennessee had more restrictive rules on homeschooling than North Carolina did. [00:04:15] That's why we didn't move here then. [00:04:18] Anyways, this bill creates a new island of freedom of education in Tennessee. [00:04:23] By exempting children enrolled in this new section of law from compulsory attendance, explained the Tennessee Home Education Association president. [00:04:32] We enthusiastically support this bill and encourage families to begin to learn to embrace this freedom in education. [00:04:39] The Homeschool Legal Defense Association. [00:04:41] If you homeschool, you should be a member of that. [00:04:44] Hundreds of thousands of homeschooling families nationwide have said, please contact your state representative to make sure that this goes through in Tennessee. [00:04:51] The measure comes amid a heated battle in the state among Republicans and conservatives about a separate proposal that went through the so-called school choice. [00:05:00] Under that scheme, just approved by lawmakers, with backing from Governor Bill Lee, We'll give taxpayer-funded vouchers to parents in exchange for certain controls. [00:05:14] That's right. [00:05:15] Sell yourselves and your children into slavery for a bowl of food. [00:05:21] Like Esau. [00:05:24] However, this bill is the opposite of that. [00:05:29] That bill was known as the Education Freedom Act. [00:05:33] It was actually, isn't it interesting that the Patriot Act, how unpatriotic that was? [00:05:37] This is the Education Freedom Act. [00:05:39] It was designed to enslave people by bribing them with money and attaching financial strings to the money that they've got to educate their kids. [00:05:46] It was the opposite of Educational Freedom Act. [00:05:49] But this free act is what needs to be adopted in your state if you don't live in Tennessee. [00:05:54] And that is a clear statement saying it's no concern to the government how we educate our children. [00:06:01] Get out of our life. [00:06:02] Get out of our life. [00:06:04] Again, this Educational Freedom Act, write down the template of what the UN's UNESCO wants. [00:06:10] It's right down the line of the template of what Trump is doing at a national level with the restructuring of the Department of Education. [00:06:19] We're going to minimize government, but maximize governance. [00:06:24] Remember that slogan. [00:06:28] I'm so tired of wearing these same t-shirts everywhere for years. [00:06:31] You'd think with all the billions I've skimmed off America, I could dress better. [00:06:37] And I could if only David Knight would send me one of his beautiful grey MacGuffin hoodies or a new black t-shirt with the MacGuffin logo in blue. [00:06:47] But he told me to get lost. [00:06:50] Maybe one of you American suckers can buy me some at thedavidknightshow.com. === Various Galas Cosplay (00:20) === [00:06:55] And David is giving a 10% discount to listeners from now until 2025.
