Time Text
Well, guys, today we're going to talk Andrew Cuomo and this bombshell New York Times piece that came out on Wednesday, alleging that Cuomo and his aides spent months hiding the true death toll from COVID-19 in nursing homes.
You know, the scandal that many conservatives like myself have been talking about for months.
Apparently, aides to the New York governor, Andrew M. Cuomo, repeatedly prevented state health officials This is directly from the New York Times.
Again, not something that could be considered a moderate or conservative publication, but sort of the epitome of left-wing journalism.
So this is directly from the New York Times.
I'm reading from the piece right now, April 28th, 2021.
The effort by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's office to obscure the pandemic death toll in New York nursing homes was far greater than previously known, with AIDS repeatedly overruling state health officials over a span of at least five months, according to interviews and newly unearthed documents.
Mr. Cuomo's most senior aides engaged in sustained efforts to prevent the state's own health officials, including the commissioner, Howard Zucker, from releasing the true death toll to the public or sharing it with state lawmakers, these interviews and documents showed.
A scientific paper which incorporated data was never published.
An audit of the numbers by a top Cuomo aide was finished months before it became publicly known.
Two letters drafted by the Health Department and meant for state legislators were never sent.
The actions coincided with a period in which Mr.
Cuomo was pitching and writing a book on the pandemic and leadership.
This is the one he was writing because he knew everything.
He was made into a deity by the press.
Turns out it was all nonsense.
Turns out it was all a cover-up.
The number of nursing home residents, we're back to the New York Times article, who died in the pandemic, has been a particularly sensitive question for the Cuomo administration.
As the first wave hit New York in March of 2020, the administration put in place a policy to prevent nursing homes from turning away patients discharged from hospitals after treatment for COVID-19.
Some critics blamed the approach for the large number of resident deaths.
A death toll the administration then put at around 6,000.
But by the time the policy was rescinded, less than two months later, it became clear that not all the deaths were being included in the tally.
Those who died after treatment in the hospitals were not counted as nursing home deaths.
Lawmakers and others began asking for a complete count of all resident deaths, but the governor's aides said parsing the numbers was difficult because of fear of double counting, among other possible errors.
Give me a break, folks.
We knew this. We've been asking for it for months.
Where's the accountability?
Cuomo got to write a book about the pandemic and leadership.
He's been lauded as a deity despite having one of the worst records, literally, of any governor in the world.
He's leading the calls for the governors, I guess for the Biden administration, to talk about the COVID response.
And yet, between that and, I guess, nine credible accusations of sexual harassment, he's just fine.
When's he going to face some accountability from, I don't know, CNN? When's his brother going to maybe cover it?
You know, they can do the giant Q-tip shtick, you know, and make comedy and light of all of these things.
And I guess it's all okay.
As long as you're going after Donald Trump.
I actually got to give the New York Times credit for finally doing something and actually reporting on something that so many people like Janice Dean, whose parents were killed because of these decisions, Seemingly, have been rallying about for months.
This is not new news.
It's only being covered now.
I guess because they don't view Trump as the same factor.
So maybe it's time to pay the piper.
I doubt it. But it'd be nice to see.
It'd be nice to see those who pretend to be in the media and pretend to be objective actually doing their jobs.
Again, gotta give the credit to the New York Times this time.
Let's see where it goes.
Probably nowhere, just like the other investigations into Cuomo seem to be going.
