This is the Dinesh D'Souza Podcast.
The times are crazy, in a time of confusion, division, and lies.
We need a brave voice of reason, understanding, and truth.
This is the Dinesh D'Souza Podcast.
Hey, everyone.
So we have Mayra Flores in the house.
Welcome!
Thank you so much for having me.
I'm so happy to be here.
Yes, Mayra.
So a lot of people don't know this, but we're friends.
My mom adored you.
She just loved having you come visit her.
And, you know, one of those things that I just love about you is how real you are and how you would visit people with no, like, you have no expectation, like, you know, this person's going to vote for me, so I'm going to go visit, or any of those things.
Especially with mom, who was, you know, really homebound.
But she just loved having you come and visit, and you did that quite often.
And in fact, you did it even up until she passed away.
And I just want to tell you how much, from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate not only that, but you coming to the funeral and all those things.
They mean so much to me beyond politics, beyond anything, really.
And so I just want to thank you for that.
No, no.
You know how much I loved her and we had a very special connection.
You did.
And I remember her telling me, I'm adopting you.
You're officially my daughter and we're now soul sisters.
And I know that she's watching from above and I'm sure she's saying, Oh, look at my two little girls.
My two little daughters.
Look at them go.
Yeah.
So we had a very special connection and you're right, it's beyond politics and spending time with her just grounds you.
It does.
It does and it just reminded me.
Uh, how special we are, but also how life is so precious and how we need to value life because sometimes everything just goes by so fast and we need to focus on the people that we love and not get carried away with everything that's going on in the world, you know?
Yeah, agreed, agreed.
And a lot is going on in the world.
Um, you know, It seems like every time we turn around, there's news of the day, you know, like, oh, Biden actually admitted, you know, that they kicked him out, you know.
So what do you think about that?
I mean, do you think that, first of all, what do you think of Biden?
Well, look, I don't think anything of him.
Honestly, I have no hate for him.
I actually feel sorry for him.
I think it's so sad to see someone who, you know, was served as a senator for so many years and Became the president and has become the worst president we've ever had ever in history.
I think that it's sad to see someone Starting such an amazing career and what a horrible way to to leave the political world right so I have only but a I just feel sorry for him.
Yeah.
I think it's sad that he decided to wait this long and that he didn't give the voters, those who support the Democrat Party, the right to decide who they wanted to represent their party.
And he took that away from them.
You know, if he would have early on said, I'm not running for re-election, he would have given them that right to decide.
And trust me, they would have not picked Kamala Harris.
And they knew that.
They knew that it wouldn't have been her.
It could have clearly been Kennedy.
Yeah.
But they didn't want someone like him.
Yeah.
They wanted her because she's so far left.
She represents their party because the Democrat Party has gone very far left, unfortunately, and no longer represents us.
Yeah.
Well, you know, you're very nice, first of all, to say that about about Biden, because he was one corrupt guy.
I mean, he really when he had all his marbles.
Right.
He was pretty corrupt.
So, you know, the fact that that he now doesn't remember that he was corrupt is kind of funny.
But but you're right about the Democrats.
I'm with you.
I'm sure that initially when he got into politics, you know, that wasn't the goal.
But People get lost in politics and get power hungry.
Yeah.
And he became power hungry.
That's exactly what happened.
Yeah, you're right.
It's sad.
He did.
He absolutely did.
So the other thing, you know, now that Kamala Harris is the candidate, why do you think she hasn't had any interviews?
What's her thing?
What's her beef?
She doesn't have the personality.
We all know that, you know, she can't communicate well.
And they know that as soon as she has an interview that the people are going to realize what, I mean, we realize, we have realized for a long time, but their base is going to realize, you know, what a failure she's been.
And I think that they don't want that.
They want This hype to continue, but it'll be over very, very soon.
It just, it kills me that this is the second time we have a women representing, you know, a party, and they've been horrible, you know, and I'm all about supporting women and empowering them, but the right women that have the best interest for the American people, and these two are just horrible.
She's been our vice president already for the past three and a half years and she's done absolutely nothing.
She's been the border czar.
And we'll talk about that in one other segment because that's a very important thing that they're trying to erase.
Absolutely.
So what do you think of her running mate, Tim Waltz?
I mean, what's up with him trying to create this image of him being a service guy and being decorated and all those things when, in fact, he didn't even serve in Why do you think he did that?
Well, again, it's just for political gain.
And people will, you know, switch sides or say whatever it takes just to get people to vote for them.
And they lose who they are.
They'll lose their identity, everything, whatever it takes to get people to support them.
And that's exactly what he did.
He just said something that he felt that the people were going to be happy about and that they would support.
And that's why he lied.
Look, I'm grateful for his service, but he does not have to lie and say he went to war.
And that is what's wrong.
And he can clearly come out and apologize that, look, I didn't mean to say that.
But he doesn't.
That's what kills me that they do not know how to accept when they make a mistake, when they do something wrong.
He can clearly come out right now and say that, you know, he apologized that he didn't mean to say such thing, but he won't.
And I didn't even know who he was prior, to be honest with you.
I just know that he's done a horrible job in his state.
I saw how, you know, he supports or actually signed into law.
Putting tampons in boys' restroom, also children transitioning, and that to me, I just can't.
He talks about us being weird, that's weird.
Oh, that is weird.
Children transitioning, really?
Being given puberty blockers?
No, you're weird.
Your entire agenda is weird.
Kills me.
Yeah.
And of course, you know, the burning down of Minneapolis, you know, the fact that he doesn't support the police, the fact that he says that all of these riots were warranted.
Wow.
I mean, that's pretty amazing for a governor to say about his state, knowing the harm that it causes and the harm that it caused all these businesses.
He destroyed the African community.
Yes.
He did.
He destroyed the African But don't you think he did it to pander to the African-American community?
He did it to pander to the media.
It's all about the media.
But you don't have to pander to the media when they're left-wing already.
I agree, but I just think that a lot of people nowadays run their campaigns Or their agenda based on what's trending on social media, based on what's being said, when in reality, that's not what's real.
I look at what's trending on X, what's trending on Facebook and Instagram, and if I were to run my congressional race based on that, I mean, it would be horrible because that's not what's real.
That's not what I'm hearing.
That's not what I'm seeing.
It's very divided.
You know, you watch CNN, very divisive.
And all social media right now, honestly, there's just so much hate and it's just not what I see every single day.
I refuse to believe that America is this divided.
They want us to make us believe that we're divided.
But we're not.
There's so much that we actually share, and I just think that we need to pause, turn it off, and start talking to our neighbors more.
Yeah.
And you do that.
You do that.
In fact, a couple of times that we've gone out with you down in RGB, we notice people come up to you, Myra, you know, we love you, Myra.
It's my favorite.
You know, all of that.
And it's like, you know why?
Because you keep it real and you talk to people and you ask them what they want, what they need.
And you're, like you say, you're not a politician that is going to be, that wants to be popular based on what the trend is.
You do it based on what the people say and want.
And you are not ideological.
I'm ideological.
I don't want to say I'm far right, but I'm right-wing, and I admit it because of all of the things that I've seen with socialism and everything.
It actually made me go more right because of those things.
But you are You are a very, I think, more, you know, you keep it real and you don't want to be divisive because in the real Grand Valley, and we'll talk a little bit more about that when we go into the RGV, you have to be good to everyone and you have to include everyone because you're going to represent even the Democrats.
So when we come back, we're going to talk a little bit more with Myra about Well, you know, one of the main issues I think that is looming in not just the Rio Grande Valley, but the country, and that's the border.
We'll be right back.
In these crazy times, there's peace of mind and security.
Security for our country, security for our leaders, and security for our families.
But think about this.
What about financial security?
You're not financially secure if all your eggs are in one basket.
Gold and silver are an excellent way to diversify your savings.
They can be a hedge against inflation.
They're a physical asset that's in high demand globally from the wealthy to central banks.
And through my friends at Birch Gold Group, you can own physical gold and silver in a tax-sheltered retirement account.
That's right, you can diversify an old IRA or 401k for no money out of pocket into an IRA in gold and silver.
This is one thing you can do to secure your family's savings.
How do you start?

So continuing on, I promised that we would talk about the border.
And Myra is, I want to say, probably an expert on the border, number one, because she lives on the border.
She lives very close to the border.
She's got a husband that is a border patrolman, so she experiences this every day.
So, Myra, what do you think of the border and the fact that it is out of control?
Well, it saddens me because we had such a secure border under the Trump administration, one of the safest borders we've ever had.
And look, I immigrated to this country.
I know exactly why these people are coming here to the United States.
This is truly an amazing country.
I don't blame them for wanting to come to this country for a better life.
I blame this administration.
They have put in place the policies that have encouraged them, knowing how dangerous the journey is, to come to this country.
And they're set to fail here.
And then not only that, we also have very bad people coming into this country.
People that are here to commit crimes, to murder and rape our daughters.
Why would anyone incentivize illegal immigration?
I'm all for immigration.
I immigrated here to this country, but we need to incentivize legal immigration.
We need to improve the process because, of course, we want people to come to this country, but we want them to come here to work hard, to bless this country, to accomplish the American dream, but we want them to do it the right way.
So it saddens me to see this administration that claims they care about immigrants, they claim to care about the American people, They don't care about it either.
Right, right.
Well, you know what's interesting?
I have a cousin that's in Venezuela, and he tells me that word on the street in Venezuela, and I'm sure in most Central America, South America, Mexico, this is the word on the street, and that is that if you can manage to cross the border The Biden administration will get you a house, will get you a car, will get you money to, you know, for groceries.
So why wouldn't someone want to do that if that's the word on the street?
Exactly.
Imagine if you're in Venezuela under socialism.
Dictatorship, of course, you're going to risk it all to come here to this country.
So again, I do not blame them.
I blame this administration who has spent 450 billion in housing and caring of illegal immigrants.
And that's not right.
It's not right for the American people that work so hard.
We could be investing this money on our children's education, on health care, and so much more.
And It's just very frustrating, because like I said, if they actually cared about immigrants, they would secure the border, because this does not help anyone.
But it's not our responsibility to help everyone around, you know?
We're not the...
police of the world, we need to prioritize the safety of the American people.
And unfortunately, right now, we're not safe, you know, forbids, you know, another 911 happened.
But I truly do believe that because of this administration, we have a lot of people already here in the United States terrorists that are planning an attack against the American people.
And I just pray for us all and that we're not at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Because that's what I think about.
Every day that I'm on an airplane, you know, I'm getting on an airplane, or I'm at a big event, God forbid something happens.
We always think we're the exception.
We think that nothing's going to happen to us.
It happens to others, but not to us.
We're not the exception.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, because of what happened to us, we now have to take off our shoes, have to take our computer out, our liquids.
They don't, though.
Yeah, no, exactly, exactly.
But here's the thing.
The million-dollar question is, why are the Democrats allowing these people to come?
There has to be a reason, Myra.
It's not just because they care about people.
It has to be more systematic than that.
Do you think, and this is actually, there's been talk about this even in Arizona, about allowing illegals to vote.
So you may not be able to vote in a local election or a state election, but you can vote in a federal election in Arizona.
So if you say, That if you have a driver's license and they give you a voter registration card and you say that you're a citizen, who's gonna check it?
That's right.
So again, could this be the reason that the Democrats are just allowing the, so let me back up, the border czar, Kamala Harris, right?
She's never been to the border.
Right, no, she's never been to Europe either.
But she's never been to Europe, so.
We totally get it.
So why do you think that?
Do you agree with me?
Do you think that there's something more sinister than just allowing people because they feel sorry for them?
Oh, absolutely.
It has nothing to do with that.
It's all about their agenda.
They could care less about, you know, the immigrants coming in or the safety of the American people.
It's all about them.
Yeah.
I think it's also about the next census.
Yeah.
Because congressional maps are based on population.
Doesn't matter if you're an American citizen or not.
Every member of Congress represents 700 plus thousands of people.
Doesn't matter if they're American citizens or not.
So the maps are drawn certain ways.
Members of Congress, right now, not only represent the American people, but they also represent people that are illegally in the country, living in their district, that are part of their census.
So, maps shouldn't be based on that.
The maps that are drawn for members of Congress should be based on American citizens, because members of Congress should only represent American citizens.
Just like where I'm from, in Mexico, you have to be a Mexican citizen to vote in Mexico.
Actually, in Mexico, you have an ID and you cannot vote in Mexico without that voter ID.
You actually have to use also your fingerprints as well to vote.
That is the law in Mexico.
Why don't we have such laws here in the United States to protect our vote?
I think that it's very important, but I really do think it's about the census.
For example, a lot of people moved from California.
So they're going to lose seats.
But if people that are crossing illegally move into California, it brings a balance.
So they won't be losing that many seats because people are moving into California that are crossing illegally into our country.
And as you know, California has one of the most lax immigration, you know, Whatever you call it.
They go in there and they're fine.
There are people that I know that are in Mexico that do not want to come anywhere else because they know that in California, it's a safe city.
I mean, it's a safe state.
For criminals as well, though.
Criminals for everybody.
Not just for those who cross illegally into our country, but also for very serious criminals as well.
But that's exactly what's happening because they know that they're going to lose a lot of seats on the next census.
They don't want that.
So they have to fill in those spots.
And how?
By bringing in people.
So that's exactly what I believe that is happening.
Pass in the house.
I think they're working on something like that.
And I think it actually passed the house where, you know, members of Congress can only represent Americans.
But unfortunately, I don't think it's going to go anywhere in the Senate.
Probably not.
Probably not.
You know, we were talking a little earlier off camera about the fact.
So I, you know, with my mom being sick and everything, I was going back and forth to Harlingen like, I mean, I was making all these trips, and the one thing I noticed was coming back from Harlingen to Houston, my airplane was probably half full with these young men that were clearly from South America or Mexico.
They had backpacks.
Military men.
They were in groups.
Yeah, military age men.
They were in groups.
They were probably like five or six together, you know, that kind of thing.
And they, you know, they just boarded the flight going to Chicago, Boston, whatever, or Houston.
I don't know if they got off the plane in Houston or not, but I was thinking, who are these guys and why are they here?
Exactly.
No, I saw that today when I left my cabin and landed here in Houston.
A lot of men, just like the ones you mentioned, flew with me.
And yes, those are the people that shouldn't be allowed to come here.
They're claiming asylum and more likely they came in with a child.
Claiming that it's their child.
But they're not with the child.
Right.
They just cross.
They cross with a child.
And then they separate.
They no longer need the child anymore.
You know, because once they're released, they abandon the child.
That's what's happening.
That's why under this administration, we have about 85,000 children that this administration can't locate anymore.
Yeah.
I heard about that.
And I actually think it's more than that.
That's just the number that we saw last year.
So I'm 100 percent.
We've surpassed 100,000.
We don't know where these children are at.
They're abandoned in the middle of nowhere.
They're sent with their so-called sponsors, so-called family members.
And after 30 days that Homeland Security follows up, we can't get a hold of the family or the sponsor anymore.
So this is what's happening.
And unfortunately, in the United States is the number one in child trafficking.
Mexico is the number one provider.
These are facts.
Yeah.
So the border is not safe for children.
Yeah, it's not.
And it just it kills me that people knowing this And let's say you don't know, but now that you know, how can you support that?
If you know that their policies are causing this child trafficking in our country, how can you support that?
Exactly.
Well, in the next segment, we'll come back, and I actually want to talk about some of the things that you propose, you know, should you be Congresswoman, you know, in the next term.
Amen.

So we're back with Myra and I want to, well first I want to say that we share a similar background with the RGV.
My mom was a ninth generation Texan from the Rio Grande Valley, so I have deep roots in the Rio Grande Valley.
And although I wasn't born there, I was born in Venezuela because of my father being Venezuelan, We came back to the United States and so I immigrated back with my mom and became a U.S.
citizen when I got here at the age of 10.
And so the valley really was my home for most of my life.
My home too.
So talk about your story and what the valley means to you.
You're right.
Honestly, our stories are very similar except I'm Mexico, right?
My dad fell in love with my mom.
My mom being from Mexico, and she did not want to come to the United States.
She actually wanted to live in Mexico.
So that's why all of us were born in Mexico.
We're four sisters.
But when I was six years old, my dad said, Hey, I can't continue becoming here, you know, twice a month or so, you know, our little girls deserve to have better education, and they're not going to be able to get that here in Mexico.
And it was very difficult for my mom.
I remember her being upset at my dad.
For forcing us to go to the United States, but I'm so grateful that my dad made that decision, looking back, you know, with everything that's happening in Mexico.
But yeah, I was six years old when he came here to the United States.
My dad being an American citizen, we had no issues in being able to file for us to come here.
And I remember that experience, and that's why I always talk about, I want that experience for every child.
Every child deserves to have that beautiful experience coming in here.
into United States and not go through the trauma and the abuse so many children go through.
That's one of the reasons why, for me, immigration, you know, legal immigration is so important and why I'm so passionate.
But yeah, South Texas, though, it's my home.
Yeah.
You know, I've been there since I was six years old.
I grew up.
Well, and you recently, because I recently had my 40th class, high school class reunion from Harlington High School, and you had your 20th.
I know.
From San Benito?
San Benito, 2004.
Except you were born when I graduated high school.
Yeah, I graduated in 2004 from San Benito.
Yeah, there's a rivalry there, right?
Yeah.
So, you know, for those of you that don't know where Harlingen is and where San Benito is, it's at the very tip of Texas.
So we're at the very bottom part of Texas.
That's right.
And San Benito and Harlingen were football rivals.
Till this day.
Till this day.
And they're about six minutes apart.
Away, right?
It's about a six-minute drive from Harlingen to San Benito.
I mean, it's right there.
I think it's like a minute.
A minute, depending on where you are.
But anyway, so this is great.
So Myra, tell me about what is it that you want to do once you are elected, or for those people that are still on the fence and don't know, should I vote for Myra or should I vote for the other guy?
I don't even want to say his name, but you know what I mean.
We don't want to give him a platform he doesn't have.
Exactly.
So why, Myra, should you tell someone or what can you tell someone that will convince them that you are the person they are going to vote for on November 5th or early election?
Look, I'm one of them.
I understand the struggle.
I know what it's like to live paycheck to paycheck.
I know what it's like to see our loved ones leave South Texas for better opportunities and I want our children, our grandchildren to be able to stay in South Texas to accomplish the American dream and bring those good paying jobs.
Honestly, for me, it's not even about It's not even about Republican versus, you know, Democrat.
I just want to put the well-being of Texas District 34, of South Texas first.
I think that we deserve it.
We work hard.
We're people of strong faith in God, strong family values, very hardworking people.
We deserve the best of the best.
We deserve Washington to pay attention for a long time.
I felt that no one was listening to the people of South Texas.
We were being treated like second class and we're not second class.
We're first class.
We're American citizens and they treated like South Texas wasn't a part of the United States or a part of Texas, you know?
Well, Myra, I mean, to be fair, being from the Rio Grande Valley, I mean, going to elementary school there, middle school, high school, I didn't stay there.
Primarily because I didn't see a lot of opportunity there.
That's right.
And this is, you know, we're talking back in the 80s, late 80s.
Hasn't changed much.
I was going to say, I go back and Dinesh thinks it's funny because we go in there and he goes, you know, maybe Myra can have her slogan as, let's bring the valley back into the 90s.
You know, because he feels like it needs it.
It needs to have a little bit more draw.
Because, you know, if you think about it, the weather in the valley is amazing.
And the food.
Well, the food is amazing.
The weather, the food, the culture.
Yeah, and so the culture is great and all those things.
And you have the beach right there, South Padre.
Beautiful.
I mean, I grew up in South Padre Island.
It was just gorgeous.
And it's the prettiest beach in Texas.
Amen.
By far, okay?
By far.
That's right.
I get that Texas beaches aren't amazing, but this one actually is.
It is.
It is.
Unless you want to talk about that little shark attack thing that happened over the Fourth of July weekend.
No, let's not talk about that.
Let's not talk about that.
But other than that... Other than that, it's great.
It's great.
So my thinking is, How do we make the Rio Grande Valley attractive for people to come and say, you know what?
Or people that live there, people that grew up there like we did, just say, you know what?
I'm not gonna go to Houston.
I'm not gonna go to Dallas.
I'm not gonna leave Texas.
I'm gonna stay right here.
I'm going to start my own business.
I wanna have that American dream right here in the Rio Grande Valley.
How can you tell your constituents that that is something that they can actually reach for?
Absolutely.
It's all about the policies.
You know, at the local level, at the state level, and at the federal level, we need to start supporting small businesses, giving them everything that they need To stay open unfortunately a lot of small businesses cannot stay open because of the lack of support and that's where we come in and supporting small businesses unfortunately under this administration lots of small businesses have been hurting have been closing you know actually four years ago.
Small businesses were thriving.
Hispanics were opening more businesses than ever.
Also, African-Americans.
In general, the American people were doing so much better and thriving.
And that's what I want.
It's very simple.
I really do think it's really just common sense solutions.
And unfortunately, this administration and a lot of our local elected officials, state and federal, have lost that.
And I just want to be able to build a strong economy so More of us have more money in our pockets where we can take care of our children, our families, we can take a vacation that we deserve.
Yes, we work very hard, but we should be able to enjoy our money.
And I just feel that right now under this administration, we have no money to enjoy life.
And that is also part of life that we get to enjoy.
It's not just about work, work, work, work, work, work.
And I feel like that's all we do.
We work, work, work, and we forget to enjoy the beauty of this world, of our families, and that's what I just want to go back to.
But as you say, though, these families have to work, work, work, and some of them have to work two or three jobs just to keep bread on the table.
Because of the cost of living.
We need to bring down the cost of living.
We criticize the new generation for not wanting a family.
It's not that they don't want a family.
They just can't afford it.
They look at the cost of everything.
It's so expensive.
Of course they want a child.
Of course they want another child.
But it's so expensive.
So we need to make life affordable.
And right now it's so expensive they can't even dream of buying a house right now, you know, the new generation, because it's so expensive.
And we have taken that away from them.
And I'm not going to say we, but you know, the the policies from the Democratic Party has taken away you to have an opportunity to ever own a home.
Yeah, that is very true.
Very, very true, especially for these young Gen Zers and millennials.
We have failed these kids.
Honestly, we criticize them a lot.
But I feel that who raised them?
Yeah, we did.
We did, and I just think that we have failed them in many ways, and I think that those before us fought for us to have the life that we have today, and we owe it to the next generation, and we have to start taking hits, you know?
And a lot of people are just not willing to take a hit, but I'm here to tell you that you're gonna have to take a hit.
Yeah, we have to.
If you want a better future for your children, For your grandchildren, you're going to have to take a hit.
Yeah, so Myra, I mean, really, we have to get you into Congress.
Thank you.
We have to, because you have a lot of great ideas, and I know that you will make the Rio Grande Valley proud.
I love South Texas.
Yeah, absolutely.
I love South Texas and everything about it.
South Texas loves you.
I mean, like I said, every time we go out somewhere and people see you, they're like, Myra, you know, they come up to you like they know you.
Their hugs are like, honestly, like, It just gives me so much encouragement when I meet people and I hug them and I spend time with them.
It's like, okay, this is what this is about.
But you're genuine.
You're like the nicest person I have ever.
I mean, really.
But I'm surrounded by amazing, nice people as well.
And that's what I love.
South Texas, as you know, prior to serving in Congress, I was in the medical field.
And what I love about the medical field is you don't care about You know, what their political affiliation is, what their religion is.
You just care about people and making sure that they're safe and that they're healthy and that they get better.
And that's all thanks to, you know, the people of South Texas that they taught me, you know, in the medical field.
That's awesome.
Well, when we come back, one final segment, we're going to talk about how do we convince not just Latinos in the Rio Grande Valley, Latinos in general, to get off the plantation?
So, Mayra, I'm so sad.
This is literally our last segment.
It goes by so fast.
It goes by so fast, right?
Because we can chit-chat, you know, for hours.
This is awesome.
But one of the reasons I think that you became so popular and the face of the GOP Latina, you know, like, I guess, you know,
Like, I don't even know how to describe it because it's so awesome that we have had this little resurgence, I want to say, of the Latina and the Latino geo-peer who actually, and let me go back to the Rio Grande Valley.
When I was 14 years old, I met Ronald Reagan.
He went down to the valley.
I remember.
In 1980.
Your mom sharing this story with me.
Yeah, my mom telling you about Ronald Reagan and how I came home and I announced that I was a Republican.
This was like, I was 14 years old.
I couldn't vote yet, but I knew that the minute I could, I was going to vote for Ronald Reagan because I knew, number one, I knew he was going to win the election.
And I knew that he was going to run again.
I don't know how I knew these things, but I did and that I would vote for him and I did when I was 18 in 1984.
But one of the things that Ronald Reagan said that I will never forget is Latinos are Republican.
They just don't know it.
It's true.
And that stuck with me, like forever.
It's 2024 and so many still don't know.
And they don't know.
So how in the world can we convince Latinos to get off the plantation, number one?
Number two, to embrace the platform of the Republican Party that is actually their platform?
You're right.
Well, we've made a lot of gains.
We have.
But it really is all about investment.
And I think that prior to 2020, I would say no prior to 2022, there wasn't a lot of investment in the Hispanic community.
And that's what needs to change.
For example, In 2022 was the first time there was an investment in Texas District 34.
Prior to that there had been no investment and yet we have seen Texas District 34 shifting towards the right since 2016 with little to no investment.
It was all organic.
So in 2022 was the first time You know, being able to play commercials in Spanish and English, being able to do mailers in Spanish and English.
And a lot of people told me, why are you doing it in Spanish?
Well, if I don't do it, they will.
And they'll spread a lot of misinformation.
And that is one of the reasons why I decided to run because I just felt that we needed that.
There was no one doing it, and I just want to be able to give the information to the Hispanic community.
That's it.
I just want them to know exactly what they're voting for, and I know the majority actually don't know what they're voting for.
It really is just lack of education, but we have to invest.
The Republican Party has to invest in all these Spanish media and do commercials in Spanish and Educate them, making them aware that the Republican Party is a conservative party that stands for faith, for family, for hard work, for a stronger economy.
All those things that We as Hispanics stand for.
It's in our nature.
It's in our DNA.
It is just who we are.
I remember growing up, you know, very conservative, but I remember telling my dad, who should I vote for?
And my dad said, Barack Obama.
And what did I do?
I'm sorry.
I went to go vote for Barack Obama.
And in 2010, I remember a family member coming up to me and said, Myra, do you actually know what you're voting for?
Do you know what the parties actually stand for?
And she said, can you do some research and come back to me?
I did.
And I told her, I'm Republican.
You were horrified, weren't you?
I was like, oh my gosh.
And I went back to my dad.
This was in 2010.
And I told my dad, we're Republican.
And he was like, no, we're Democrats.
I said, no, dad, we're Republican.
For me, my values are what's more important.
I will not put my values aside for no political party.
For me, my values are what's most important.
That's why for me it was an easy decision.
I'm walking away.
That's why I don't understand.
When you have this information, how can you not walk away?
Because your values is what should matter to you more than anything.
And unfortunately, it took a long time for my dad.
I remember, you know, us having a lot of arguments, a lot of discussions.
And in 2020, he did vote Republican, but it wasn't easy for him.
And in 22, he just became a full-blown Republican.
And now, I mean, he'll never vote for a single Democrat because he feels that they abandoned him, though.
He says, no, they walked away from me.
They walked away from my values.
But it really is all about education because now my dad is realizing that, you know, the party that he supported never really represented him.
It's like, I just can't believe how blind I was.
I just didn't know.
I was watching all these Spanish networks, and I believed everything that they were telling me.
And that's why it's important that we invest, because a lot of these Spanish networks, I see a lot of Democrat investment.
And we need to invest as well.
So we see all these commercials of all these, you know, Democrats that are running for office.
Where are the commercials of the Republicans?
You know what?
Speaking of that, Dinesh and I were talking about this when we were watching the Olympics.
You know, we watched the primetime, some of the running and everything.
We saw a Kamala Harris commercial.
We saw no Trump commercials whatsoever.
I was like, guys, where are you?
These are the people that you have to convince.
These are the middle of the road people that are not political, that don't know parties, but can see these things, these commercials, and they can get educated.
So likewise, with the commercials in Spanish, why not invest?
We have to invest so we cannot continue complaining when we're not making investments.
And I think that we should be making investments in the Hispanic community.
Why?
Because you don't have to convince us to be pro-life, pro-family, pro-hard work.
That is who we are.
It's in our nature.
It's not like you have to convince others.
There's other cultures that you have to convince them to be that.
That's harder.
But it's already in us.
You just have to give us the information.
So it's very simple.
It's really all about investments.
And I know that the other side has a lot more money.
I get that.
But we have plenty of money as well.
And I just think that we need to be more wise in how we spend it.
Targeted, right?
Where do we want to spend that money?
And why don't we want to convince this group of people?
Because do you know what the stats are now?
What's the percentage of Latinos supporting Trump as of now?
Do you know?
I don't have the exact number, but I can tell you in my district, it's a 90% Hispanic district.
It's the most Hispanic district in the nation.
And he's up on the polls.
He's up one point.
That's amazing.
And that says a lot.
You know, that says a lot about this shift in the Hispanic community.
If he is up, In a district that is a double-digit Biden district.
It says a lot about the shifts.
Yeah.
And I'm really excited about that.
And that's why I think it's important for, you know, President Trump to invest in the Hispanic community to come down to South Texas and see the support that he has.
We've been nudging him to do that because we, you know, it's so important.
Imagining him winning the most Hispanic district in the country.
That would be amazing, Mayra.
That would mean so much, not just to me, but it would mean so much to the Hispanic community, so much for South Texas.
And I just want to show that the Hispanic vote is no longer owned by the Democrat Party.
You know, we're free.
Yeah.
You know, we can vote for whoever we think it's best for our families.
We are no longer, you know, forced to vote for this party because that's what we've been told, that we're forced to, we have to.
Well, I always tell Dinesh, one of the things that, I don't know if your campaign, but certainly a PAC, a Latino PAC or something, can send flyers out to all of the residents of the Rio Grande Valley, and they can simply- In Spanish and English.
In Spanish and English, and they could have side by side- That's what we need.
The platform.
A voter guide.
A voter guide platform, so that people go, oh, yeah, I don't think that children should be transitioned.
I don't think that women can just abort their baby up to the ninth month of gestation.
Biological, men playing in women's sports, these are things that my opponent voted for.
And many of the elected state officials as well, they voted in favor of all this.
And I know for a fact That the Hispanic community does not support this.
So we cannot continue giving our vote to these people because it empowers them and they no longer represent our values.
Yeah.
Well, speaking to someone that is not only I feel you're going to win, But you need to win.
Praise God.
And I feel that, you know, even in a district that historically has always voted Democrat, that people vote because their grandmother voted Democrat, their great grandmother voted, it doesn't matter.
Right.
You know, people need to do their homework.
Yes.
They need to make sure that when they vote, they vote their values.
And it just so happens that the Republican Party aligns with their values.
Right.
And you align with their values.
Absolutely.
And so when they go to the polls, don't forget Mayra Flores, District 34.
District 34.
And if she can do it, She's going to give rise to a lot of others that can also do it and help change this country because I have always said this, but I believe because we are almost a majority, or are we a majority in Texas, Hispanics?
We are now the majority.
We are now the majority in Texas.
That's why I'm doing what I'm doing.
I'm doing because I don't want to lose our state.
And we got to get more Hispanics in the Republican Party.
Look, the Republican Party has no future without Hispanics.
And that's a fact.
Whether people like to hear that or not, there is no future if we do not get more Hispanics in the Republican Party, in the state of Texas.
And the other thing, too, is, look, we are Latinas, but we are American-loving Latinas.
We love the United States of America.
We love this country more than all the Democrats put together.
So our agenda is not a Latina agenda or a Latino agenda.
It's an American It is.
And so help us, help Latinos win these seats because, again, we will become, we will stay a majority and we will become Republican.
We're going to save this country, I really do.
Not only will we save Texas, but we will save America.
The United States of America.
Amen.
Amen to that.
Amen.
Thank you, Mayra, for coming.
Thank you so much, my friend.
God bless you.
And spending some time with us.
Always.
Thank you.
