You want to listen to a podcast?
By who?
Georgia GOP Congressman Doug Collins.
How is it?
The greatest thing I have ever heard in my whole life.
I could not believe my ears.
In this house, wherever the rules are disregarded, chaos and mob rule.
It has been said today, where is bravery?
I'll tell you where bravery is found and courage is found.
It's found in this minority who has lived through the last year of nothing but rules being broken, people being put down, questions not being answered, and this majority say, be damned with anything else.
We're going to impeach and do whatever we want to do.
Why?
Because we won an election.
I guarantee you, one day you'll be back in the minority and it ain't gonna be that fun.
Hey, everybody.
Welcome to the podcast.
I'm glad you're here on this Friday morning.
Look, we're getting ready to have a great episode.
We got James and Chip alongside.
We're going to do Friday's Finest.
But I would be remiss if I did not start off this podcast today saying that, you know, my heart is heavy.
About 20 miles from my house yesterday was the shooting at the Appalachia High School in Winder, Georgia, Barrett County.
Um, look, I have no idea what possessed a for the evil that would have possessed a 14 year old to take a gun to school and begin to kill people.
I have no idea why evil would have persisted that if he threatened to do this last year and was investigated for this, how that information, you know, may or may not have got transferred over.
But right now the, the most important thing out there is, and for all of you who want to Talk about guns and gun violence and everything.
You have to address the heart and the mind of a 14-year-old who undoubtedly was possessed with evil to think that they could just take the life of other people randomly in a school.
How we've gotten to this point, how our society has sort of gotten comfortable with violence, and I can remember growing up in my own times that this was something that would have been so unreal.
Unfortunately, we're dealing with it now.
And we've got to come to grips with the fact that mental health issues, the issues of family, the issues of threats have to be taken seriously.
And for those families who've lost loved ones, my heart, I wish I could take the whole community into my arms and love them and make it go away, but that's just not possible.
And for the law enforcement officers, for the first responders who had to respond, for the kids who were not directly in line with what actually happened, but now have to live with that for the rest of their life, you know, it's just one of those things that Sickness is sickness, and we need to call it what it is.
And my prayer is that during this campaign season, in which there'll be a lot of pressure on both sides to try and maybe discuss this or do something, my only hope would be is just let this community heal.
Go on with your campaigns, but let this community heal as they need to, and keep them in your prayers as you go forward.
So folks, again, we start off a little bit somber note here.
On the Friday edition of the Doug Collins Podcast, Our Friday's Finest.
But I just want you to know you keep them up in your prayers.
They're going to heal.
It's a strong community.
It's a tight knit community that is growing outside of Atlanta.
You know, as you go forward today, just maybe, you know, hold somebody a little closer.
You know, tell the folks that you love them one more time before they leave.
You know, you never know when that last opportunity might be, that last time to say goodbye, that last time to take a ride, that last time to take a walk, that last time just to hold the person that you care about.
Because this world, tomorrow's not given to us.
So remember that.
And in these times like this, let it draw you closer to those around you.
And now we'll be back in just a minute.

All right.
We are back here on the podcast.
I'm a little bit sorry and I don't apologize for it starting off a little somber.
Chip and I are from Georgia.
This is something really for me is 20 miles from my house where this happened yesterday.
We have a lot of good friends who are in that area and who have served in our statehouse.
And I know Chip's ran some campaigns.
Our old buddy, Tim Walker, is a county commissioner up there who helped us on one of our campaigns.
And they're just devastated.
So I really meant what I said.
And my hope is that the campaigns, you know, they're going to do what they're going to do.
But this community just needs to heal.
And in an environment like this, we don't, you know, it's just a, it's a sad thing.
The mind of a 14 year old that is evil, period.
Let's just place it where it was at.
So we'll do it from there.
But the good part about it is, is now, for those of us, we will continue to lift them up.
We're gonna transition a little bit today and we're gonna bring James in and we got Chip here.
And it is, you know, aside from the real world headlines to, you know, It's NFL start.
It's the NFL weekend.
It's ready to get started.
We had what seemed like a...
Okay, I want to start this off.
I know this wasn't on our list, guys, but I want to get you...
What is this week zero, week one crap?
Okay, it's either week one or it's not.
Oh, the college football?
Yeah, and the college football, because we didn't even change the AP numbers for two weeks.
I'm pretty sure they used that to make money, Doug.
I think the word is money they're looking for.
Let's still call it week one.
How does that take away?
I mean, look, Florida State got their whipping on Monday night, still ranked number 10. They're the only team I've ever known in life that were ranked 10th two weeks in a row and got their butts kicked.
Florida, the things you guys sent me this week had me.
What did they say?
What was the one I left?
Oh, he could overthrow the Fidel Castro and the Cuban government.
I was literally in tears laughing so hard.
Yeah, and it goes to show, separate of any discussion, Doug, that you wanted to have on week zero, the transfer portal, I mean, when you are at your fourth school in the transfer portal, you are going to invite this type of criticism.
I mean, DJ Uya Angulale had a really good year last year at Oregon State.
He had a really good year.
And he decided to leave.
And, you know, and he did.
And, you know, look, it's a long season.
You know, it's September 5th, so we've got a long way to go.
But if you're a Florida State fan, you really have a long way to go.
And, you know, it is what it is.
You know, look, there's still kids.
There's still 22-year-old kids, or at least DJ... But, you know, when you're in four schools in four years, I do think you bring a little bit.
Look, here's the problem with this transfer portal in DJ. He should have went to the pro last year.
I mean, at the end of the day, he just should have went to the pros last year after Oregon State.
You always hit one of the irons hot.
And I know that there were other quarterbacks We had six quarterbacks going the first nine.
I know his agent told him not to go and all this kind of stuff.
But look, this is also the guy.
I want you to remember something here.
I'm going to go dig in the old memory bank here and bring something out.
You know who the first Dr. Pepper NIL contract was with?
DJ Anglea.
Oh, wow.
Really?
He was the first one actually in those crazy commercials with the Boz and everybody.
He was the first one.
Now they got Quinn Ewer, so Quinn better look out.
Quinn's going to be that kid.
But he was the first one.
And that was back when they were saying like, oh my, DJ's actually drinking a Dr. Pepper on national TV and getting paid for it.
I mean, he was the first one.
He was the one right after Lawrence and everything else.
Look, we can spend a lot of days on, you know, a lot of time on the college football ranks.
The Dawgs look fine.
The Dawgs had a typical first half, then the Dawgs played well against Clemson.
Clemson showed their vulnerabilities.
It's amazing to me.
Here's the funny one.
For those of us, you know, down here, James, in the South Ship, I will come back to you like you're cleared up now.
Isn't it just a twinge of just hilarity that Georgia Tech is 2-0 and the Two teams that are suing the ACC to get out of the ACC are 0-3.
Yeah, they won out of the ACC because they feel like they were left behind.
Well, guess what?
Everybody that came in is leaving you behind right now in your own conference.
Yeah.
And so, yeah, there is a little bit of poetic justice in that.
And, you know, look, I feel bad for the Florida State team last year.
I agreed with the decision to leave them out of the playoffs because of the horrific injury to Jordan Travis.
But my word, the whining that went on after that lasted all season.
And you know what?
They forgot to get ready to play this year because they're still living.
They're still kind of butthurt about what happened last year.
It's not been a good transition for the Florida State Seminoles.
They have enough wood and oak cast down in Tallahassee right now to serve the American population a glass of wine for the next two years.
Yes, they do.
You talked about Georgia Tech being 2-0.
That win in Dublin against Florida State doesn't look so impressive now.
Right?
No, it doesn't.
It doesn't.
But I will have to say this, and this hurts my heart a little bit to say this, James.
And you remember, James, we're going to get into NFL football because that's James' heart and so on and so on.
But college football is Chip and I sort of bread and butter.
But it hurts my soul to say this.
But Brent Key's a good, I'm warming to Brent Key as a good coach at Tech.
Now, he's not Kirby and he's not, but I mean, he's gotten a fire back in those Tech players.
We'll just see how it goes along this year.
Don't be surprised if it's one of those things where he has a decent season and next year he's on a bigger school.
Just one of those situations, it feels like.
Yeah.
But remember also, he graduated from Tech.
Oh, okay.
Well, that's a different situation.
The two big schools in, well, Chip, I wish I could say it was the two big schools in Georgia now, but there's not.
I mean, you got Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, all with, you know, Division I, 1A football club programs.
We had the MARTA Bowl the other day, James.
We had Georgia Tech play Georgia State.
They're not even two miles apart.
And Georgia State, I didn't see the score, but I'm assuming Georgia State got there behind San Antonio.
Tech won, but State's not a bad school.
And Southern was playing Boise State.
Georgia Southern played Boise State in the opener.
And for a while, it was...
Pretty close.
That's great.
But it was amazing.
Go ahead, Chip.
Well, it's pretty close at the end.
It wasn't close at the beginning.
Georgia State ended up coming back, you know, coming back at the end and making that a game.
I think it was 53 to 45 was the final score.
Oh, yeah.
And when I first...
Boise State boys in Statesboro, Georgia.
Yeah, yeah.
So, you know, Boise brought their offense.
They didn't bring their defense, but they certainly brought their offense.
But...
Yeah, no, I think Georgia Southern was down 28-10 in that game and came back and got it within one score, but it just didn't work out.
But yeah, man, look, it's great.
It's back.
It's hard to fathom.
As an Auburn fan, I feel like eight wins is realistic this year, and it's probably been four years since I've been able to say that, you know, and, you know, it all seemed good.
Let's celebrate before we transition to the NFL because it is week one in the NFL and that's indisputable.
Let's just take a moment and celebrate the college football community to celebrate the fact that Nick Saban is in the booth at ESPN and he's no longer on the sidelines in Tuscaloosa.
Oh my god, Ann is killing it in the booth at ESPN. Yeah, he's really, really interesting in the booth.
I love the video of Snap Your Fingers by Lil Jon is playing, and it's McAfee having a blast.
You guys know I listen to sports radio like a loser all day.
I'm listening on the radio, and I must have heard, because I'm in and out of my car, but it's always on, so I must have heard three different hosts in a span of two or three days.
Every single one of them was like, Nick Saban is going to have a horrible time.
He's going to realize he wants to go back to coaching football now that he's sitting next to McAfee, and I was like, Guys, do you think he hasn't dealt with a...
He's an NFL. He was a college coach.
All he dealt with was McAfee's.
Everybody who's in the 19, 20, 18, 22, they're all McAfee's.
They're all idiots.
They're just like us.
He had Lane Kiffin on his coaching staff.
Lane Kiffin makes Pat McAfee look like a team toddler.
What are we talking about?
They're friends.
They're literally friends.
He literally has joined the show every...
McAfee's a special person because he gets Belichick in him, and we don't need to get into this again, but The idea that people are like, he's going to go back to coaching.
Yes, of course he's going to have that bug.
What are you, dumb?
But he's not going anywhere.
You know how much money he's getting paid to not do that right now?
To see his wife and his kids?
His comments were amazing.
I think I sent this to y'all.
They were talking about NIL money.
He's just brutal.
He said, $20 million.
It depends on who you pay.
Otherwise, you're good.
You've got to pay the right players.
Gotta play the right players.
And he got, before we transition off of, because the college season in this third week, second week, whatever now, it's got some decent games.
The Texas-Michigan game will be fine.
I would love to see Michigan, as much as I do not like Michigan, it would be hilarious for me to watch Michigan beat Texas.
That would be a great day.
But there's not a lot of big games this weekend.
But I have to, I mean, we also have to stand up, and for the SEC here, Vanderbilt is 1-0.
I mean, what else?
The ACC can't get much worse for the ACC when their two top teams, their three top teams, And almost their fourth one with NC State all looked to get beat.
Three of the ones did get beat, one did not.
All right, moving into the pros game tonight.
I think I'm really glad that the NFL has started doing a similar to NASCAR. They're putting a great game on paper and probably in realistic as the first game.
NASCAR has done this for 50 years.
They do the Daytona 500. It's the Super Bowl.
It's the first race of the year.
Everything else is sort of downhill from the Daytona 500. Starting it off on Thursday night, then Friday night and the end of the weekend, and skipping Saturday, this Chiefs-Ravens game tonight, starting this off, really hits on to a little bit, and I'll free it up at any point during the conversation today.
If you want to give your winner for the Super Bowl this year, feel free to.
I think there's better than a 30% chance that you could be seeing the winner of the Super Bowl in this game tonight.
I agree wholeheartedly, but I have a different pick of who's going to win the Super Bowl, but I will tell you part of it is the Chiefs are going to be there.
I just don't see a scenario where the Chiefs Aren't better than they were last year.
Rashi Rice is now a second-year pro, as long as he doesn't get booted by the government.
Kelsey's fine.
They got another speedster in Xavier Worthy.
Pacheco is this offense, and their defense is still very good, although they lost need.
They are still very good.
So I don't see a scenario where they don't head back to the Super Bowl.
What do you think, Chip?
What about this game tonight?
What about Jackson?
What does Lamar Jackson have to prove in this game?
Well, I mean, look, Lamar Jackson is an MVP-type player, right?
So, I mean, I don't know that in the game he necessarily needs to prove a lot.
I think he needs to prove a lot this season and into the offseason.
I mean, look, yeah, if you're looking at the Kansas City Chiefs on paper, of course, you know, it would...
You know, smart money is on them returning to the playoffs.
They've been healthy for a long, long time.
They've avoided the major injury bug.
Their quarterback included, Travis Kelsey included.
They've got Hollywood Brown back there too, along with all those talented receivers that James had mentioned.
I mean, it's just at some point in time, the law of averages says that lady luck has to show up, and the Kansas City Chiefs are going to get a little bit of a bad luck.
You know, last year they peaked at the right time.
They really didn't come into the postseason playing real well, and, you know, they...
They became what we thought they would in the postseason.
And so, you know, look, I have the Chiefs not in the Super Bowl only because they've been in the last two.
Not because they don't look like the best team on paper right now, because they do.
Chip, you're reminding me of the dude sitting at the roulette table who sees four reds come up and says, it can't be red again.
And Doug is right.
That's exactly right.
And I am not.
I will put on red every damn time.
I will lose all my money.
I've watched people go bankrupt.
You guys want a quick little gambling story?
Real quick.
Yeah, let's hear it.
And we went to the Connecticut Sun Casino or whatever.
And I went to Roulette first and I got really hot.
I went up with $4,200.
I came in with $300 and I got up to $4,200 on Roulette.
Best day.
Even that day, I went in.
And I even played a slot and just won $400 by accident.
It was a great day.
I leave there and I'm like, guys, we need to go back tomorrow.
And they're like, no, save your money.
And I said, you're an idiot.
I'm going back.
So I bring three grand back with me and in about 32 minutes, I am out of there with zero dollars.
And that's because I went on black six times in a row.
And I couldn't help it.
I was like, no, this has to hit now.
I was doing the opposite.
So my brain works where it's like, I think this is either going to happen or it's not, but I'm going with what I'm going with.
And that's how my brain works.
Remember, though, speaking in gambling terms, because now James is speaking my language.
When I place money on total season wins, whether it's the NFL or college football, and when I'm placing prop bets, which you don't get to do a lot until the postseason, prop bets on total receiving yards for a wide receiver, total rushing yards for a running back.
I don't do a prop bet if I'm taking the over.
I don't do it.
Why don't I do a prop bet when I'm doing the over?
Because that prop bet's yardage is based upon a 50-50 scenario that the player plays four quarters and is healthy all game.
But the last prop bet I did where I did over, player went down in the first quarter with a sprained ankle.
So did you throw your phone at the wall?
You didn't have a chance.
And so it's the same law of averages.
Look, I'm not wishing Patrick Mahomes to get hurt or Travis Kelsey to get hurt, but my word, they've had that horseshoe in their rear end for a long, long time.
You're right.
And look, folks, you know, we know we're listening here.
We're just giving you the, you know, this is a pre, so tomorrow you can say, wow, look at them idiots, you know, talking about the Chiefs and the Ravens.
And we get that for you, but folks, we just, you know, look, we're so excited to be in the football season.
We don't know what.
One coming up tonight, though, that could depend on one of the NFC participants in the Super Bowl is the Green Bowl, lack of Green Bowl, whatever you want to call it in Brazil.
And that is Philadelphia and Green Bay.
Last year we saw the Chiefs get off to a slow start.
I'm gonna throw this out there for consumption.
I do not think that the Philadelphia Eagles would survive a slow start this year.
I think they have a slow start one to two games in.
They were closer to implosion.
I don't disagree, Doug, but I don't think you're going to see that from this Eagles team.
Jalen Hurts played Hurt all year last year.
He is healthy.
He is ready to go.
That team is stacked on defense.
They are solid on offense.
I think they're going to come out playing really inspired football, and I think Jalen Hurts is a dark horse for MVP this season.
Alright, let me give you guys something real quick.
The number one headline of the Eagles this offseason, do you know what it was?
The coach and the quarterback are getting along.
That could not be a worse thing to talk about.
If that's what you're talking about, you're in trouble, because that means they don't like each other, and they're trying to get along.
Now, I don't know anything about Nick Sirianni, and I really don't care.
I know he's got cool guys like Big Ed on the sideline, or whatever that dude's name was, and...
Don, it was Don something.
Yeah, anyway, sorry.
I'm thinking of Fireman Ed for the Jets.
I've been in New York too long.
But anyway, that's the headline.
I saw a team last year that started off incredibly hot.
They looked like they were walking to that Super Bowl in the first, what, 10 games?
Right?
I mean, we all said it.
Yeah.
And then they folded like a lawn chair.
I don't know.
I don't expect anything from the Eagles this year.
I think Dallas is going to win that division.
I think the Commanders are going to come in second.
I think the Eagles are going to come in third.
I think we're going to see a very different football team.
I don't know if Jalen Hurts is the guy.
I know that's a horrible thing to say considering he had one bad season and you said he was hurt.
And also, I am really looking forward to Green Bay sucking, so you know that my take on the Eagles is real because I want them to win by 50 because I hate Green Bay, but I think Green Bay is going to win this game in Brazil.
Well, that brings us into a thing.
Look, I'll throw this out there.
We're not going to discuss it, but I'll throw it out there.
If I had to do a dark horse in the NFC East, it would be Washington actually winning the division.
Am I the only one thinking about that, though?
No, I think so.
I think because they're going to be caught up on.
I think Daniels could have a C.J. Stroud kind of season.
Bingo.
Because nobody's predicting he would.
And I think that's where you're going to come out.
But let's think about this.
We've talked about this over the last little bit.
Three starting quarterbacks, rookies.
A fairly big name.
You got Caleb Williams in Chicago.
You got Bo Nixson.
And you got Jaden.
And you got Jaden.
Out of those three, who's going to have the best year?
You know my answer, Doug, and I don't need to say it out loud.
And I think Jaden Daniels is going to have a great season.
Caleb's going to have a better one.
Chip?
I mean, I think all three of them are going to exceed expectations.
They're all going to look like rookies.
Oh, so Bo Nix just has to throw a touchdown and he gets to exceed expectations?
No, no.
Bo Nix.
Bo Nix will be the offensive rookie of the year.
Chip, I'm letting you know right now.
I'm not talking about that statement, but I'm saying he's walking into what I think is the best situation for him.
Who's his number one wide receiver?
Bo Nix?
Here, I'll tell you.
You have to Google it.
You don't even know.
Caleb Williams has three great wide receivers on his team.
Three!
And he's got to stay in the pocket long enough.
Look, I'm a big Caleb Williams fan.
I've got him on one of my three fantasies.
I want him to do really well.
But I think Caleb Williams is going to look like a rookie this year more than most.
But he's also going to look like he's got more talent than all three of them.
And he does.
He does.
He absolutely does.
Okay.
Look, so that I'm not the oddball here, the same question roughly was asked of either the guys on first take or the guys on getup yesterday.
Out of those three, I think there's one more.
You know who the name was not mentioned to actually be at the top?
Greg May?
Caleb Williams.
Idiots.
They're all idiots.
The winning horse is sitting in front of everyone and they all want to have a different take about how he's going to be bad.
Caleb's going to be a dog this season.
James, if any team was over 500 last year, the best thing Caleb could do is get dressed for the game and look good.
Because when he got into the game, he just laid eggs.
I mean...
I mean, he honestly...
I'm done.
We're done here.
I will say this.
I will say this.
I just looked at Denver's Jeff chart, and I will give you that they don't have a lot of playmakers on the end.
That's my fear.
All right.
Let me hear me out.
I understand that I'm not rooting for Bo Nix because I hate Sean Payton.
And his little snarky attitude that he had all offseason, like, we tricked the Vikings.
You need to go watch the Netflix film about him.
But I want Bo Nix to fail right now.
And here's the thing.
Listen, I am so sick.
He has zero wide receivers.
He has Cortland Sutton, who's great.
I like Cortland Sutton.
On any other team, he'd be a great number two.
He does not have anything.
They don't even know who their running backs are.
Javante Williams is technically still fighting for that spot, although he has it.
And Jaleel McLaughlin is a speed demon, but he's never going to take that role.
Right.
He's got a workhorse.
You can't give him the ball.
Right.
What I'm saying is, I think the reason I give Caleb the leg up is, one, he does have Odunze, who's their rookie, and I think he's going to be good, but he's going to be their third option.
On any other team drafting that high, Odunze would not be a third option.
He would be a one or a two.
And he has Keenan Allen, who's as reliable as ever, and DJ Moore, who's been a good wide receiver for years.
So that's my reasoning.
However, I don't want it to happen because I'm a Vikings fan and life is a nightmare and everybody's doing well without us.
I think you're right.
I think he's got talent.
Don't get me wrong.
But at any time when the heat has been turned up on Caleb.
It's a fair argument, for sure.
I'm not actually arguing that.
I believe you.
To me, Caleb Williams is the Ryan Leaf argument.
He looks the part.
I'm going to vomit.
He is the epitome.
Think about this.
His size.
He moves good.
He can throw it when nobody's trying to tackle him.
He can run occasionally.
Look, my problem, and both of y'all have heard me say this on this show, and I say it some with Bo Nix, but I've also said it with Caleb.
I've said it with Anthony Richardson.
I've also said it with Kirk Cousins at times.
But a lot of the rookies coming in, And the ones that are, you know, they're going to be the quote stars.
If you look at their history, if they have, when they are faced with adversity, I look at what they've done.
And now granted, I might not say they're still spectacular athletes, but until Caleb overcomes Those things, when he mentally had to kick in and he wasn't the superstar, he had to become the superstar.
And he's not just proving that.
And that's the problem that I have.
Doug, I will add this though, is that here is where that argument, I think, is flawed.
Look at the games that Caleb Williams lost in college.
I mean, they lost games where he led his offense to 42, 43 points.
I mean, a quarterback doesn't play defense.
And so, you know, look, I have Caleb Williams on one of my fantasy teams.
I want him to do well, and I think he will.
You know, but I also think he's going to look like a rookie at times because he's a rookie.
And rookie quarterbacks look like rookie quarterbacks.
You're right there.
I think we have a C.J. Stroud problem.
Because everyone is going to look through that lens.
Prior to C.J. Stroud, we were like, yeah, look at Peyton Manning.
He had 55 interceptions in his first week, and he ended up becoming a Hall of Famer, one of the greatest regular season quarterbacks in the history of football.
So we were fine with those numbers, but now that C.J. Stroud has showed up and decided to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league after a year, and we're already talking about him as a top eight, top seven quarterback in the NFL in a lot of people's minds, which I don't think is wrong.
But we can't have that expectation for any of these quarterbacks.
It's too much.
Well, but I want to say this too.
I want us to keep the hype train in the depot for a little while on some of these players.
Now, look, I think C.J. Stroud handled it phenomenally last year.
He did.
But I'm going to bring back somebody who actually handled the first year pretty good too, and his name was Deshaun Watson.
Deshaun Watson handled his rookie year really well.
Okay?
That's because he was getting a lot of massages in between.
Exactly.
But, you know, it was pretty good.
But you see what I'm saying?
It's that all of a sudden, and now CJ has done every interview.
He's been told how good he is.
And Chip made a comment the other day.
We were talking about something a week or two ago.
I don't know how we came up with CJ Stroud.
But Chip made the comment too, and we were talking about this is going to be the second time through the lineup.
This is like a pitcher who pitches the first three innings, lights out, or pitches one good game, and then a week later when they're back for the three-game series, they light him up.
And so CJ, I think, look, I think CJ's in position.
They put more players around him.
Just the reason they brought in Stephon Diggs.
Because Stephon Diggs is a one-year rental right now for them.
I got two to throw out at you here, and we'll discuss this here.
Number one, I believe that one of the reasons for keeping Drake May out of the starting lineup in New England is, and I know this gets into collusion, I know this gets into something New England fans don't want to hear, I think New England is watching what Chicago did with Caleb.
They have now got their quarterback.
They don't have a strong team, period.
It's just not there.
And they will then be a top one, two, or three pick next year and then can add more.
I mean, I think that model may be back with New England because the way they did it 20 years ago, too.
The other comment that I'm wanting us to explore on not only that area, it's where we're at, but who...
Let's just start off with some picks here.
What team right now nobody's talking about that we will all be talking about on the 17th week?
Ooh.
Ooh.
That nobody's talking about.
That nobody's talking about.
Seahawks.
Hear me out.
Seahawks.
All right.
Seahawks.
I can see that.
I can see that.
They now have a high-flying, how do I describe it, offense with their new head coach, right?
And DK Metcalf's amazing.
I think Jackson Smith and Jigba had a weird year.
I think he's going to be fine.
But Geno was also battling injuries.
I know he's not the best quarterback in the world.
I know he may have been a one-hit wonder.
But if he plays like he did two years ago...
Watch them.
They could be sneaky wildcard team in the playoffs.
You know, I'm looking at maybe the Colts, maybe the Cardinals, right?
I mean, if you could keep Anthony Richardson healthy, if, you know, if Kyler Murray comes back healthy, look, I think there's a possibility, right?
I mean, Raymond Pride and Marvin Harrison Jr., Oh, absolutely.
No question about it.
And I'm going to tell you a team that is going to be a lot more improved than people think, and that's the Carolina Panthers.
I'm sorry, Bryce Young is going to have a nobody's talking about it.
Now, look, do I expect the Carolina Panthers?
Do I expect everybody to be talking about them in Week 17?
Probably not, right?
They're probably still two years away, but you're going to see a team that makes steady progress and gets better.
And, you know, Bryce Young had Nothing last year.
And, you know, and all of the, you know, all of the scouts had him and C.J. Stroud, you know, right with each other for one and two in the draft.
And, you know, unfortunately for Bryce Young, Carolina thought he was the guy.
Had Carolina picked C.J. Stroud, we wouldn't be talking about C.J. Stroud.
No, no, we would not.
He's good.
Who's your pick, Doug?
I'm going to say, and this one's going to come up a little bit, and I'm going to go a little bit like Chip off the board a little bit because nobody's talking about it.
And it's, again, back to the NFC South, and it's Tampa Bay.
And the reason I'm in Tampa Bay, one, our...
For football league namesake, our patron saint of pro football in college, Chan Gailey.
It was one of the first to stay on the...
And look, I didn't realize, and y'all probably did, but when I started going back through for some of our drafts and stuff for your fantasy leagues, I didn't realize the numbers that Mayfield actually put up.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it was just quietly under the radar.
And now they've picked up a few more.
They've picked up a little bit more help down there.
So I just think, look, I think the NFC South is weak in overall.
Do you think the Falcons will be worse than the Tampa Bay?
No, I think here's the deal.
If Cousins, I'm going to give him as a regular season quarterback.
If Cousins can just simply distribute the ball, The defense for the Falcons, I think, is okay.
I'm actually going to see them Sunday.
It's a head coach, so it's a good thing.
And we got a new head coach.
I mean, so look, I'll put the Falcons as a slight favorite in the South, okay, just because of some stability.
And because we don't know how quickly the Panthers will come back.
I agree with Chip.
I think they're going to come back.
But Tampa Bay...
And New Orleans is right now a crowd.
I was gonna say, we can all agree that New Orleans is hot garbage and everything about them is terrible.
Yeah.
But Tampa Bay has put in some, again, they kept a good setup.
They brought in a few more offensive and a little more defensive help.
I just think that they could be one that could be off the table that nobody's looking at.
I think you're right.
I think the only fear people have is that Canales is now with Carolina.
Right?
So he was the one who gave that offense the light.
But if they find a way to keep that in line for Baker, then I think Tampa and Atlanta will be fighting for that number one spot for sure.
The number, okay, let's flip the question.
Week 17, the team we're talking about now that nobody's going to be talking about except 17, except, oh my God, what happened?
Eagles.
Eagles, what about you?
I think it's the Buffalo Bills.
Wow, there you go.
I don't know.
I mean, I think we're about to find out how good Josh Allen is.
You're damn right we are.
Yeah, you take Stefan Diggs out of that equation and he's just got, you know, what is he?
And I know everybody's really excited about Keon Coleman and he's a funny kid and everything like that, but I mean, you talk about, I mean, this is as empty as his receiver bench has been in a long time.
And by the way, going back to the Bo Nix comment, I don't disagree with what James said, but remember, he started in college for five years.
And the first three years he started, he put up decent numbers at Auburn with no wide receiver help.
I'm just hearing Auburn bias here and that's all I'm hearing.
Can we name any of them?
No.
So anyway, I'm just saying I think the Buffalo Bills have an off year and they're not going to make the playoffs.
I have a tie.
And This one, I'm struggling with this one because I want to add a third one in.
Add as many as you want.
It's your show.
Here's the honorable mention that you won't be talking about come the end of the year.
Green Bay.
Thank you.
That's what I wanted to hear, Doug.
I'm putting that in.
I'm getting that tattooed on me.
I threw that in for James.
The gray state of Texas is not going to like me, but I believe it is the Cowboys and the Texans.
And the Texans.
And the Texans.
Tied.
I believe the sophomore jinx is coming hard on the Texans.
So who wins that division, the Texans division?
Sorry, I'm just curious.
Is it the Jags or the Titans?
Yeah, I think Jags.
The Jags.
Okay, good.
So you're all in a cover trend.
I think Trevor is now set pretty much for the rest of his career.
Of course.
Him and his, you know, he's got his money, he can go play, and he's not a bad quarterback, and they brought in a few more players.
Okay, good.
Now, and Indianapolis, again, rises and falls on a lot of other things that they can't control 90% of the time, mainly their owners.
Richardson being the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL coming up in the next two years?
Oh, besides Caleb.
Okay, I get it.
Anyway, but then you got the Texas.
I just think the sophomore jinx is going to hit them hard.
It's just a feeling.
And I could be, you know, this is all speculation.
But Dallas, I've never bought Dallas.
I don't buy Dallas.
Dak, the only reason Dak could have a good year this year is that Dak's ticked because they're not giving him the money.
And they brought back in, you know, again, they got rid of some and they've left some.
And also, I've never seen an owner have as off of a year offseason as Dallas did.
It was almost like Jerry Jones was preparing for moving the team or something.
He was preparing to die.
They just didn't do anything.
And so there's my two that I think...
Can I throw one more in here?
I'm sorry.
Because there's one I'm thinking of right now that is either going to go to the Super Bowl or it's going to be a nightmare, and that's the New York Jets.
The Jets are the one that I have the most...
It could either be the most spectacular season or it's going to be on fire.
I don't think they win nine games.
I think they either win 13 or 14 or they win 6. Like, I don't see a good scenario.
I don't see a middling scenario where they win a wild card game.
A wild card spot.
That's how I see it.
I don't know.
It all depends on Aaron Rodgers, but that team scares me a little bit.
Yeah, Rodgers is...
That's my problem.
When you talk about the Jets, all you talk about is Rodgers.
And it's almost like they got PTSD from the first four plays last year.
And they got a good ball club.
It's not that they don't have a good ball club.
They're a really good football team.
It scares me.
I picked their defense in both of my fantasy lists.
As you should.
I think their defense is a good defense.
And they look at...
You know, the ones that, as you look ahead and you think about this, think about the big team, and I think somebody's already mentioned this, your overall league MVP. You want mine?
Yeah.
Jared Goff.
Wow!
There we go.
Jared Goff is my MVP this season.
Wow!
Here's another one.
I could actually throw...
If Detroit does what Detroit does, they win that division.
That's why I think it's going to happen.
But, but, there's some playtime issues there.
Chip.
Well, I mean, I think Jared Goff could have a good year.
14 games in the Dome, guys.
14 games in the Dome this season.
That's all I'm saying.
MVP. Look at his numbers in the Dome.
Wow.
His numbers in the Dome are crazy.
He's got 14 games in the Dome this year.
Hey, I hope he earns.
I drafted him as a backup, but I hope he earns a promotion because I would love for James to be right about that prediction.
I'm here for it.
Because I'm in three fantasy football leagues.
Now, I only have Jared Goff as my backup in one.
I wasn't confident enough in it to do two.
But, wow, going back to what you said about Dallas, Doug, 110%.
You can't trust Dallas in the offseason.
But I do think the fact that they haven't paid Dak is interesting because I listen to sports radio, and I was just listening to it today, and they're like...
Well, can you imagine if Dallas finally makes a run in the last year of Dak Prescott's contract?
They get to the Super Bowl.
He gives Jerry Jones the Super Bowl title, and then Jerry can't afford to pay him.
I mean, how awful that would be for Jerry.
And I'm like, are you nuts?
Are y'all nuts?
There's nothing that Jerry Jones would love more.
Because James is right.
Jerry doesn't have but one or two more Super Bowls left.
Right?
So he would love it if Dak took him to a Super Bowl this year.
And the reality is, guys, let's be serious.
I love Dak.
Mississippi State guy.
He's always overachieved.
But if Dak Prescott wins the Super Bowl, are you really going to pay him number one quarterback in the market money?
Wait, wait, wait.
Are you talking about Dallas or other teams?
No, I'm talking about other teams.
And they're going to overpay him.
He's going to be a 65-year minimum.
But you're going to have to overpay him if he's coming up with the Super Bowl win.
Now, again, I don't think we get there, but nothing would be more Dallas than for them to make it to the Super Bowl and win in the last year of Dak's contract.
Is he your MVP? No, no.
Who's your MVP pick?
Oh, golly.
It's not Jared Goff, but, you know, golly, golly, that's MVP. It's a quarterback pick.
So, I mean, really, I mean, they don't give an MVP to anybody else, so...
No, I think Patrick Mahomes is going to have his best regular season, and then I think they're going to get upset in the divisional round.
And so I'm going to go with Patrick Mahomes, but they're not going to win the Super Bowl.
I think last night we watched the two MVPs.
It'll either be Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson.
You think Lamar would get a third MVP back to back?
Yeah, they're just enamored with Lamar.
I understand it though.
It is amazing to watch.
But yes, I hear what you're saying.
The Heisman has become a quarterback issue.
The MVP has become a quarterback.
And for some reason, Lamar Jackson can do no wrong to NFL writers who choose this.
And I'm not saying he's not a good quarterback.
And please hear me, I'm not.
He doesn't carry the MVP, but I mean, we'll see.
But also, here's an interesting point that we've got to look forward going to.
He now has Mark Henry in the back.
Derek Henry.
Mark Henry will be coming up the middle and scaring the hell out of everyone from the WWE. Yeah, we'll go to WWE on hell.
Derek Henry.
But Derek Henry, which means that, you know, And could he earn the MVP by actually learning how to hand the ball off?
That's going to be an interesting issue.
Derrick Henry might have 20 touchdowns this season.
I think we're at that point now where the way they run the ball, there's a chance Derrick Henry has 20 touchdowns.
Somebody this morning is going to make money because I think the prop bet on Derrick Henry scoring a touchdown is.5.
So if he scores one, you win.
I think that's the easiest bet in football.
100%.
So I don't know who won, but look, my MVP this year, like I said, I think we see it tonight.
It's either last night.
We saw him last night.
It's either Mahomes or Lamar Jackson going forward.
Rookie of the year, I think we sort of talked about it a little bit earlier.
Anybody want to take a guess, a stretch out on rookie of the year?
I think it's Marvin Harrison Jr. Okay.
I can see that.
I mean, I said it earlier.
I think it's Bo Nix.
I think it's Bo Nix.
He sees expectations.
And maybe it's because I want it to be Bo Nix, too.
No problem.
I'm biased, but I think you're about to see the value of making 62 starts in college.
I saw a stat the other day that said, since he left high school, Anthony Richardson's only started 16 again.
Mind-blowing stat.
Very Trey Lance.
Very Trey Lance.
Yeah, I had to look at it again.
I just didn't believe it.
But I think he's in a good situation.
I think he's got the experience, and I'm cheering for him.
My rookie, Jaden Daniels.
That was a good pick.
I really like Washington.
I don't know what it is.
He's in a position, if they don't keep him from getting killed, if they've got an offensive line that can keep him from getting killed, he'll have the tools to make the numbers.
And I think that'll be the flashy part of Jaden Daniels.
On paper, I would agree with you.
That's a tough franchise to win.
Oh, I agree.
I don't know.
There's something about him.
Let me ask you guys a quick question.
Who's your coach of the year?
Because I already have mine.
I think it's going to be Jim Harbaugh.
I think he comes in half.
I'm going to throw the O. I don't think Harbaugh makes playoffs.
You shut your mouth.
All he does is win, even if he has to cheat.
Look, Connor Stallions is at the high school now.
He can't, I mean, they got a radio.
How funny would it be if you see Connor Stallions at a Chargers game?
Just in the stands, just like this with a sign?
That would be hilarious.
Coach, I'll tell you who it could be.
And this one is, this was happy and sad.
And Chip, maybe you'll understand this for me.
Oh, gosh.
I think it's the Falcons head coach.
Yeah.
He has no expectations.
I think they win 10 plus games.
And look, and again, I'm sort of the different way because I think we could do so much better down here.
I really do.
I think we've got the talent for it.
But I think he could be the coach of the year.
All right.
Coach of the year, baby.
I'm all for it.
Because all they look for is new numbers, and if he, I mean, say he made the playoffs, I mean, say they made the playoffs and happened to win one.
It's a slam dunk at that point.
All he has to do is get Kyle Pitts to win people fantasy leagues, and those writers will be storming in to write him on as Coach of the Year.
They'll give Kirk Cousins the MVP award.
I'm telling you.
Yeah.
Yeah, now, that's an interesting one.
Okay, let's go real quick.
Comeback Player of the Year.
Oh, it's Kirk, and it's not even close.
Okay, Kurt, Jim.
I certainly hope Jim.
Because it's not going to be Aaron Rodgers.
That's all I'm going to say right now.
I'm going to be pissed if it is, to be pretty honest with you guys.
Yeah, I don't think it's going to be Aaron Rodgers.
It's just hard to imagine at that age he can make it through 16 games.
And, I mean, he's playing for the Jets.
Comeback player of the year?
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
Kurt Cousins.
Kurt Cousins.
It's hard to argue.
I mean, he doesn't have to do as much to get it.
No, you're right.
If everything sets up like we think it is.
If Tampa Bay isn't as good as I think they're going to be, if Carolina, as Chip said, isn't as good, they're almost going to be a two-to-three game easy win.
And they've got eight games, let's see, six games against New Orleans, Tampa, and Carolina.
Right.
They'll probably split the Tampa one, but they could beat the other two teams.
They can go 4-0.
I will add to this for you guys.
My offensive player of the year is B. John Robinson.
I think he goes, what he did in limited space last year.
The highlight videos, please inject into my veins the above-the-sky view replays of B. John Robinson spinning off.
I think he's going to have a banana season.
B. John Robinson Offensive Player of the Year.
Anybody on Fantasy League teams right now that took any running back or tight end or wide receiver for the Falcons, they took a running back wide receiver for the Chicago Bears, they took a running back wide receiver for Denver, you look at a running back wide receiver in Washington, they will be one of your top producers in fantasy football this year.
And a name we haven't even mentioned.
We've not even brought up Miami.
Now think about that for a second.
We went the whole...
I was about to...
Our time has flown by and I didn't want to monopolize time.
I was going to say, a Dark Horse candidate for Coach of the Year is Michael Daniel.
By the way, have y'all seen the video?
Because I still think the Bills are going to win that division.
I don't know what it is about it.
No, I don't think the Bills will.
You're about to see a disappointed Bills team this year.
You're about to see Josh Allen.
You're about to see Josh Allen decline.
I will fight you on this until I die.
Josh Allen is a good quarterback.
And he is going to be a star this year.
He can be a good quarterback.
You know who was a good quarterback last year until they got into the postseason?
A good quarterback.
Patrick Mahomes.
And guess what?
He got in the postseason and he became the best quarterback.
Josh Allen's a good quarterback.
All good quarterbacks don't win awards.
Have you all seen the Instagram and social media meme of McDaniel this first year?
Oh my God.
I've never seen a man become more the city in which he is in.
He's slowly molding into a drug dealer.
It's fantastic.
Well, but let's give Mike McDaniel credit.
This is, because of how young he is, by the time he is out of coaching...
He will become a head coach somewhere else, just over the law of time, says that.
And wherever he's a head coach, two years into it, he's the type of guy that can transform.
Yeah, if you see him in the Steel City, he's going to be wearing a hood, and he's going to have a steel brew in his hand.
He's going to be the face of this.
Do we have them winning the division, though?
Do you guys have them winning the division?
I do.
I have Miami winning the division.
Oh, yeah, I do.
They could easily.
I think Tyreek and Jalen Waddell are about to have very stupid, insane seasons.
Do not count Jalen Waddell out this year.
Seriously, he's going to be serious.
I do say this, though.
As good as I think they are, I do not see them in the Super Bowl.
In fact, I don't even see them in the AFC Championship game because I don't think they can play after the division game in a cold weather city.
No, that's the problem.
They've got to win the conference to get to the Super Bowl.
In a mode of actually winning games.
And I think that's going to be another year.
All right, here's a funny one as we're getting ready to start wrapping up on Sunday.
And I'm going to be there for...
I get to be there for this.
I hadn't been live at a Falcons game in, God, five years, six years.
Oh, wow.
It was Sunday in life, church, life, everything.
I just don't typically go to a lot of Falcons games.
But we go in this Sunday.
Pittsburgh and Falcons.
Which quarter does Justin Fields take over for?
You got my notes.
Okay.
Yeah.
I asked this question to you guys because I really think it's a wrap.
I think Justin Fields is in by game three.
Because Mike Tomlin is not a patient man.
Oh, you're giving him games?
I'm going to say halftime.
That's not impatient.
That's irrational.
But It is.
But yes, I really, I think it's not unreasonable to see him replaced real early, guys.
I think Russell Wilson's like full-on finished.
Okay, can we, granted Russell Wilson has a Super Bowl, okay?
I don't grant what Russell Wilson did earlier on in his career.
And I'm going to touch the top of the kitchen range.
It's still on again, okay?
I'm going to do this.
Everybody admitted he had all the tools.
He was fast.
He could run.
He could throw.
He was everything.
But the minute he started getting success was the minute that he ended up becoming less than what it was.
I see some of these quarterbacks coming out of weak conferences And I see the same thing happening in the NFL when you get, and again, I know we all disagree, and I know you've heard me say that, but the Calebs, the Anthony Richardsons, these folks, that they come out of divisions, not that they're not good at it.
I'm not trying to disclaim who they are, but it's just a difference.
Chip makes this comment about politics all the time.
When you get to a congressional race or a statewide race or a Senate race, it's the NFL, baby.
The lights come on and everything's exposed.
These quarterbacks who were doing this in divisions that are less than, and this may not be as big of a deal in the coming years because you basically have the SEC and the Big Ten, well, it's really the Big Four, but maybe some of the others, that they have to play these games.
I'm actually excited about watching college football have games that matter more, and I think that's going to bring these quarterbacks back up a little bit more.
All right, so as far as the Russell Wilson situation is, I think the Russell Wilson problem is not Besides the fact that he is, quite frankly, a weirdo to everybody who's ever met him.
It's rare how open teammates are about how much he wasn't really a part of the team, right?
You hear Marshawn talking.
Now, Marshawn Lynch is allowed to say whatever he wants because he's the funniest human being who's ever lived.
But he talks about, like, I don't mess with him.
Sherman felt the same way.
A lot of the dudes on Legion of Boom felt the same way.
You don't really hear his receivers talk about him, good or bad.
Right.
Russell Wilson had a great stretch.
And I mean a great stretch.
When you watch some of the plays he made coming out of the backfield, literally would roll right and just throw a dart to lock it or whoever was, you know, Baldwin at the time.
So it was weird.
He did win a Super Bowl.
If he hands off the ball to Marshawn Lynch, he's two Super Bowls.
He's a walk into the Hall of Fame.
Now it's a debate.
As far as that being the same story for other guys, I think, one, Caleb Williams in this situation is in a very tough division, so I'll say it'll be a little different.
But you see guys without crazy talent around them and you see what kind of player they are.
I think Chip's kind of alluded to it that we might see that with Josh Allen this year.
With the other young guys, Richardson's, I think, a very interesting situation because they're talking about him not even being able to throw the ball in practice, and it just broke my heart because I'm, like, rooting for him.
But, yeah, I think you're right.
With the way that college was set up going into football, some of these guys, the lights are going to come on.
We're going to find out.
But this weekend is where we find out, right?
Hey Chip, could James just have been describing, as he's describing Russell Wilson, his boy Bo Callahan from his favorite movie, Draft Day?
Yeah, he could.
Y'all want me to get upset about the worst movie of all time again?
You want to go down this road?
You want to do this?
Costner, baby, Draft Day!
That's the dumbest movie that has ever been made next to Rocky, and I stand by that.
Okay, taking a weird step here, though.
Name me another actor that's played more sports-related movies and done good at them.
Adam Sandler.
I'm just kidding.
I can only think of two.
Okay, we're going to that ESPN show where they mute you for a minute.
You just got muted, okay?
You know, it's called Take a Lap, okay?
Adam Sandler.
Happy Gilmore.
Give me a freaking break.
Will Ferrell.
But think about it.
Costner was in Field of Dreams.
Costner was in a perfect...
What was the basketball...
Go ahead.
What did you say?
Tin Cup is the...
Bull Durham.
You had Tin Cup.
You also had For the Love of the Game, which, by the way, best baseball movie.
Best baseball movie for the love of the game.
No, it's Bull Durham and The Natural over that any day of the week.
I know.
For the pure...
Come on, Chip.
You're not even kidding.
For the love of the game...
Who is it, Chip?
Who do you agree with?
The host of the show or me?
At least we're not saying Field of Dreams.
Field of Dreams is a banger, though.
But that one always makes me cry because it's like, oh, that's my dad.
And I'm like, great.
For the love of the game for me, though.
For the love of the game.
Now, I get you Field of Dreams.
But for the love of the game, him pitching that game.
And you know who makes the movie?
It's Costner.
I mean, does a great job.
And the gal does.
But the one who makes the movie is Riley, who's the catcher.
Yes.
He does such a great job in that movie.
So Chip agreed with me.
Real quick.
I digress a little bit.
To go back to Russell Wilson.
I wanted to make sure that I thought he came into the league in 2014. So I looked it up.
He actually came into the league in 2012. And he was the third round draft pick.
There were five quarterbacks drafted ahead of them.
Five quarterbacks.
Can you guys name any of them?
Andrew Luck.
Andrew Luck.
Robert Griffin III. Robert Griffin III. Their cousins before him or no?
No.
Ryan Tannehill to the Dolphins.
Blake Bortles?
The eighth pick.
No, Bortles was a couple years before then.
This last one's going to be a hard one to get.
No, there's two.
The last two are going to be hard to get.
Josh Rosen.
No, it was the Browns picked in the first round that year.
Brandon Whedon?
The man himself who got stuck under the United States?
Guys, I want to find, I'm going to see if we can roll the clip of him getting caught under the flag.
It is the greatest clip in American history.
And there was one more quarterback that year who we can't forget.
And the Broncos drafted him in the second round.
The Broncos?
The late, the great.
The man, the myth, the legend, Brock Osweiler.
Osweiler, baby!
Brock Osweiler, baby!
Hey, you know what?
You know what's really great?
I was just watching how electric that one season was before he got paid.
But guys, do we remember the quarterback that got paid prior to Russell Wilson coming to the Seahawks and why he got paid so much money?
He played one game at the end of the season for the Green Bay Packers and was immediately signed to the Seahawks at the end of the season.
And then they paid him a ton of money, and then he lost the camp battle to Russell Wilson.
Oh, gosh.
Matt Flynn, boys.
Matt Flynn saga.
They paid him, what, I think they gave him, what, three years or some crazy number?
And then he lost the game.
He had a good game.
It goes to show you what a premium they put on that position.
They saw him play one game.
Gave money immediately.
Green Bay was like, yeah, go ahead, take him.
That should have been their sign.
He did well for that one game.
Before we go, I just have a real quick question.
Because nobody's talking about this right now, and I feel like nobody talks about it ever.
Who wins Defensive Player of the Year this year?
I feel like nobody's talking about any of these elite defenses this year because I don't think there is one because offense is all that matters.
I'm going to say something here.
I believe that defense is in the NFL now.
You have these studs and you have the player, but for defensive to actually be effective now because of the offensive orientation of this league, I almost wish they would just say, you know, the Jets' defense is the MVP. Yeah, correct.
Or the Dallas defense is the MVP. Well, yeah, I mean, luckily there are stats to make it work.
Well, you get sacks and stuff like that, but again, Miles Garrett doesn't get the sack.
I'm going to go, here's the easy, T.J. Watt.
He should have got it last year.
That's who I'm picking, because I think he's on a revenge.
Yeah, T.J. Watt.
That's my pick.
T.J. Watt.
T.J. Watt.
But remember, if T.J. Watt was the only real rusher on that line, He didn't get those sacks.
And that's a fact.
Miles Garrett doesn't get those sacks.
Darnell learned that.
And I think why he finally retired on out early is he learned that when they were triple teaming him, he couldn't do it all.
His body was taking a beating.
Also, watch out this year, Micah Parsons is coming up on a contract, too.
That man might have 40 sacks this season and break some records.
Well, yeah, he is in the lead right now on the Vegas boards at plus 550, followed by T.J. Watt, Miles Garrett, Max Crosby, Nick Bosa.
I love Max Crosby.
All six of those guys you'd love to have on your team.
If Rookie of the Year was given to someone other than a quarterback, and I missed this one, if he was given to somebody other than a quarterback, Rookie of the Year, Brock Bowers.
See, I would agree with you if they didn't have Michael Mayer.
I think they're going to split too much time.
I think Brock Bowers will get it, and the quarterback out there, Minshew has to dump past us, and he's just going to be a thumping dump, and I think Bowers will be there.
Brock Bowers is an animal.
I think people are going to see it quick, too.
It's going to come by fast.
He is an old-school throwback quarterback.
I would not bet against Brock Bowers being a non-quarterback.
Okay.
That guy is the beast.
All right.
I'll give you a choice.
You can do a winner or loser of the week.
Oh, loser.
Winner or loser of the week.
New York Giants.
They can suck it.
Well, thank you, James.
Moving right along to Chip.
Oh, wow.
Of the previous week, or are we looking ahead to the next week?
No, no, we're going to give actual, you lost.
We'll talk about it next week.
Ooh, loser of the week.
Or winner.
Hmm.
I need to put some thought into that.
There could be a lot of losers of the week.
Yeah.
Well, put it this way.
The loser of the week in week one is always all three of my fantasy football.
There we go.
All right.
Now, I have my loser of the week, but if you tell me it didn't happen Monday night, then I'm going to change my loser of the week.
But I didn't catch the game to start with.
Did Chief Osceola at Florida State get to the field, get ready to throw the sword in the field, and the horse back up and they fall down?
That's cruel.
I think I actually saw this online, but if it didn't happen, that would be my first loser of the week.
But my next loser of the week, Virginia Tech.
Rolling into bad Vanderbilt and getting beat.
Yeah, that's bad.
That was a tough, I mean, that's a tough L right there, baby.
But I tell you, you know, look, I know we're running out of time, but I'm going to throw out some kudos.
Elon, I mean, there were some schools last week that nobody had heard of that, like, I mean, Air Force played, I think it was Merrimack or Kinermack, something like that.
I had to look up the school.
It's up in Boston.
And they actually didn't play bad.
You had Elan, who played this past week, didn't look all that bad.
You know, I think it's just really, again, NIL has changed the scenario.
And now what's happened is the top 25 schools have truly the top 25. And now you've got the schools that are down below the Georgia Southerners, the Elan, the App States, the North Dakota.
By the way, North Dakota State gave them every bit they wanted.
They sure did.
I was not surprised by that.
They're good football fans.
Good football fans.
I think it's presented some parody in these second tier.
Money creates parody.
Because right now, if you can't get on there.
Yeah, so now that I've had a chance to think a little bit about winners and losers of the week, my winner of last week is going to be Travis Hunter because he got to play on national TV and there's just not another college football player.
Does he go number one next year?
He's the best player in the draft, whether or not he goes number one.
Well, Chip, I'm glad you brought that up because I'm also going to bring up one, and this is going to hurt, because for the same issue, different reason, my loser of the week is Shiloh Sanders.
For the same reason.
I mean, he has immense talent.
Shadour has immense talent.
Shiloh has immense talent, but he lets it get to him.
And even McAfee brought this up, that he was the king of the cheap shot.
That whole game, and the camera, he's got to realize that the camera is on him all the time.
You've got the word Sanders on your back.
It's following you 24-7.
And he got away with several.
I don't disagree.
My loser of the week is LSU coach Ryan Kelly.
Got outcoached by Lincoln Riley.
He's such a baby.
He's such a baby on that stand.
And Lane Kiffin.
He's going to be a more unlikable guy than Brian Kelly.
I get it.
That's awesome.
Okay, last question, I promise.
Last question.
But everybody, you're riding along, you're getting fun.
For those out there jogging with us, they get you an extra lap in.
Here we go.
The last question.
First coach gone in the state of Florida.
Norvell or...
Norvell's coming off an undefeated season.
It's going to be...
It's going to be...
Can't believe I'm drawing a blank.
Florida.
You can do it.
Yeah, it's going to be the gate.
You can do it.
Starts with a beat.
Starts with a beat, Bill.
Talking about Florida, the University of Florida?
University of Florida, yeah.
Yeah.
Billy Napier.
Also, did you see the Miami guys telling the recruits?
That was my Joe Biden moment for the podcast.
That was my Joe Biden moment, not reminding Billy Napier.
We all get one Biden moment.
So far, nobody's really remembered Billy Napier at Florida, so it will be a problem as they go.
Believe me, the Florida fans will forget it real quickly by game four.
Ah, okay.
Goodbye, Billy Napier.
They can't make it.
All right, folks.
As always, Great Friday's Finest coming along.
We got football, football, football.
We'll talk more next week.
Chip and I will be back with you.
Set your notifications for next Wednesday morning.
Chip and I will be knocking out the debate between Trump and Harris.
Again, I always go into these, you know, you don't know.
I mean, there's a lot of talk about the last one that ended up with a president getting basically couped out of his own party.
Yeah, so far brought it back into difference.
Harris has been fighting the rules for the whole time, finally agreed.
She wanted to take notes.
They finally convinced her a teleprompter wasn't possible, although Chip and I believe we actually saw that in a Senate debate one time.
You know, this is a whole different issue, but they're there.
So Chip and I will be on.
We'll get it with James next Wednesday morning.
Set your notifications.
We'll be ready to go, and we'll rock and roll with them.
